Germans Arrest 22 Followers of the Religion of Peace

SF Gate:

German police stepped up their crackdown on Islamic extremism Wednesday, detaining 22 people during raids of apartments and mosques allegedly used by a network that provided financing and other support to terrorists.

About 700 officers searched dozens of apartments, mosques and call centers in five German states, discovering militant Islamic propaganda and forged passports and visas, authorities said....

The suspects included German citizens and nationals of Egypt, Tunisia, Algeria, Libya and Bulgaria, Bavarian state police investigator Gerhard Zintl said. Their ages ranged from 17 to 46, and five of the suspects were female.

1 Love your headline! I know for a fact that this "infiltration" of Militant Islamists is happening all over Europe... They better wake up before they find a knife pressed to their collective throats! TOMO THE TOMO REPORT

2 Three cheers for DeutschenFolk! And it is about time! Too bad they did not do this in '96 when Sadm's Intelligence folk and the 911 leaders were ploting 911.

4 TOTO is certainly right. Look at the ages and the countries involved and this is just one raid in Germany. Every country does have to wake up, small or big, and do raids like this, which will stop terrorists attacks these groups were planning before they are carried out. When I first read this, I thought it surprising that Germany did this crackdown on Islamic extremism in that neighborhood, or more to the point, that Germany did anything at all. It's unnerving to see that both sexes, the ages and the countries that Germany picked up. What I've been constantly surprised at, during the invasion of Iraq, we were able to use their airspace but not able to use their airbases or set up shop at any of their airports but Turkey constantly is having so many of their people kidnapped and killed, so why are the terrorists constantly picking on the Turks? Has Turkey done any raids in their country as Germany has done but it seems more like the Turks are also victims of terrorists attacks. We don't hear too much from Turkey; what are they doing to stop terrorist attacks? Germany refused to be part of the coalition forces; they've also denied any of their NATO troops to go to Iraq to help train Iraqi's but it's obvious that they do have groups settling into their country either to plan events there, elsewhere, and feel being in Germany is safe for them. I sure hope they don't release any of these people back into the system. Cindy
