Illegals Take Over

This report is from last week and it doesn't come from the mainstream media. Imagine that.

From IndianCatholic.com:

Illegal immigrants have taken refuge in some Belgian churches and, according to the conservative Brussels Journal, these churches "are being turned into mosques before [the bishops'] very eyes."
A recent report in the journal indicates that the Belgian bishops have opened their churches and offered sanctuary to illegal immigrants in order to pressurize the Belgian authorities to allow them to stay in the country.
Most of these illegal immigrants are Muslim, and the Brussels Journal accused the bishops of being "ignorant" to the fact that these immigrants are desecrating the churches.
According to the Belgian publication, the squatters live in tents in the churches. Catholic relief organizations provided the tents and offered radios, television sets and computers. They hold Islamic prayer services in the church and display banners showing the name of Allah. They have also moved the altar and covered the face of a statue of Our Lady with a cloth.
The journal documented these facts with photos and claim that the arrangements have existed for a number of years already.

All right, class, it's pop quiz time. Can you think of any other situations where illegal immigrants have taken up residence and are changing the rules? I can.

1 As a member of the 9-11 Truth Movement, I've always been skeptical of the "no 757 hit the Pentagon" angle, thinking it a government strawman that could easily be nocked down with a video from the Pentagon, the Sheraton Hotel, the Virgina Dept. of Transportation, or from the CITGO station, across the street. This video didn't do that. I can't see a 757 in it. Lame, lame, lame!

6 No video needed for proof, we all know it was a 757. Look at the similarity of the explosion to that of the twin towers. Large amounts of jet fuel, very different to a rocket explosion on a non-flammable target. Then there's also the aircraft debris.

15 I don't get all the hype over the film either. I've seen one like it dozens of times. And the frame-by-frame was much, much better than what Foxnews showed. Pictures of the BMW engine just inside the wreckage didn't convince greg and his gullible friends either. Oh yeah, the military (or is it the DoD? Oh well, who ever it was...) must be using BMW engines to power their missles that they send flying over busy highways and office buildings and then they send in Obe Wan Kenobe to tell everyone, "This is not the missle you're looking for. 25 Finally!! The proof needed to shut up these conspiracy theorists has been released, the video showing the plane. Now these nuts can go back to questioning the moon landing! Uh-oh. Might be losing my mind myself. Now that I see the video, I'm not sure what I see. It is a ways back from the camera, but it seems small. Wish we could see more of the plane. Seems awful level too, didn't it just make some crazy descending turn that these nuts said was impossible? Guess the guy was a pretty decent pilot to level that thing out after such a quick descent. Looks to be pretty low too. Low enough that the engines would of dragged in the lawn? Nah, there weren't any marks on the lawn, those nuts were quick to point that out. Remember? Now I'm really thinking about what these nuts have been saying. That 757 made a tight, spiraling descent at 400-500 mph, leveled off just a few feet from the ground, just high enough not to damage the lawn, and then struck the very bottom of the pentagon. Again, keeping the lawn intact. When the plane hit the building the wings vaporized, and the fuselage went through the infamous 16-foot hole. The fuselage then continued on through 2 more rings of the pentagon where it made another 16-foot hole, and then it also vaporized. WTH are these nuts questioning anyway???

As many of you know, I recently underwent total knee replacement surgery for my right knee, destroyed while working for the Transportation Security Administration. For various reasons, not the least of which is the haste with which it was formed, the TSA has the highest injury rate of any federal organization, outside of the armed forces. This is one of the factors responsible for the extraordinarily high attrition rate among TSA employees. At my home airport, only 19 of the original 150 screeners hired remain on the job after less than four years. But that's another post. The first indication that my treatment would result in a war of wills came at the pre-surgery consultation with my surgeon. Surviving Beslan Terrorist Sentenced to Die

He wonÂ’t be surviving very long if a Â“moratorium" on executions is lifted. Nurpashi Kulayev was sentenced to die for his role in the siege of school which ended in the deaths of the rest of the terrorists and 300+ school children and teachers. At the very least he will rot for the rest of his life.

Euronews: The only man charged over the Beslan school siege two years ago has been found guilty and could face the death penalty. Reading out the sentence, the Russian judge said Nurpashi Kulayev had committed murder and attempted murder, taken part in a bandit group, taken hostages and illegally stored and transported weapons.
An official moratorium on the death penalty is in place.
However Deputy Attorney General Nikolai Shepel said he had asked for the highest punishment, the death penalty, but that he would not comment further and would wait for the court to decide.
A total of 330 people were killed when a group of gunmen, including suspected Chechen separatists, took over a school in Beslan on the first day of term. The other hostage-takers were killed in a shoot-out with Russian security forces.

Life the moratorium and place a moratorium on this manÂ’s life ASAP. This is one of the most heinous examples of what Islamic terrorism really means.

Fortunately icons such as Cindy Sheehan and Ted Kennedy can still be blamed. I am not really sure of what importance any liberal's beliefs or statements are at this point. Are there many people listening to the statements of Jimmy Carter on Chechnya ? Perhaps now one should take a look at where the conservatives stood on the issue of "freedom" for the Chechens. The American Committee for Peace in Chechnya founded in 1999 (pre 9/11) by the right wing Freedom House includes as members such neo conservatives as Richard Perle William Kristol. Peace in Chechnya meant supporting the rebels against Moscow. For a more complete rundown on the members of this pro Chechen group please google American Committee for Peace in Chechnya. I tried to give a hot link but received the dreaded "questionable content" I think that the support for the Chechens by the neoconservatives was not due to admiration but simply because they were fighting Moscow. The United Syayes has seen that often our allies later become foes.

3 That is what I love about The Jawa Report, being able to post comments and engage in debate over an issue in an intelligent manner. Or at the very least, read other's debates. Only the very worst trolls are ever banned and even they are usually tolerated for quite a while before that happens. They generally have to be very offensive to have their posts removed or to be banned entirely and I would dare say they deserve it. To totally ban any individual comment much less to ban a person from being able to make comments strictly because of them being against the blog's owner's views, results in that blog then becoming nothing more than a propaganda site. So long as the disagreement is civil and engaging there should be no reason to ban that view from being posted. Yes I realize the blogosphere is NOT a democracy, but I feel that open dialogue and debate allows for better information sharing, and better understanding of the world in which we live.

5 I read Lorie's post and then I read the "editor's" post. I was struck by this comment he made: "Suppose three out of four columnists at the Old York Times were pro-Republican. The Bushies would show him the door."<.i> Frankly, that's what separates the blogosphere from regular media outlets, and particularly blogs with more than one blogger; differing opinions in one open and balanced venue. Of course he has the right to invite, uninvite, ban and change who he wants on his blog. So I'm not criticizing him for the simple act of "uninviting" Byrd, just his motivations considering the fact that his blog is not traditional media which we've all grown so tired of. Nor is it an administration where consensus is really necessary. As readers we want balance in opinions, not necessarily consensus, but balance. As long as their differences there were submitted respectfully there shouldn't have been a problem.

Bush Speech - Calling A Spade A Spork

Last night, President Bush tightroped his words outlining a plan for securing the U.S-Mexico border. In essence, the U.S. won't build a fence, and they will come. Two key elements struck me.

One is that the border will not be secured. Instead, the U.S. will allocate resources for the National Guard to assist the Border Patrol to monitor and document trespassers better. With better surveillance using high-technology devices, more illegal aliens will be caught, and more will be sent back. Unfortunately, the plan doesn't stop people from sneaking into the U.S., it only catches more of them after they have entered. So, rather than fixing the leaky boat, we're just going to employ more bailers.

Secondly, it appears that President Bush has gone to school and learned a technique from the mainstream media. The MSM frequently alters the English language to promote their political agenda and have flooded the public with such terminology as "undocumented workers" versus "illegal aliens" and "militants" versus "terrorists." Now, President Bush proposes to pardon millions of illegal aliens and implement a citizenship program and somehow not call it "amnesty." Instead, it's "rational middle ground." Despite President Bush mouthing "rational middle ground," I suspect that millions of people south of the border heard "amnesty." They are likely packing now.

Yes, the stuck bops with President Bush and he has boldly called a spade a spork.

I see a lot of "news" about open borders without any data backing up the claim that Bush's term has an influx of illegal immigrants, they publish costs per state for illegal immigrants [unadjusted for inflation, and without comparison of previous years] so now two issues that have non-stop negative press in the MSM (Gas prices, and Mexican border) have rose to such a crescendo that Conservatives are turning in on themselves, with infighting that the Democrats are famous for. The Democrats have neatly packaged security + borders (Wasn't the last arrested Terrorist coming in through Canada?) and the MSM have pitched it for over a year now, I have seen nonstop talk of punishing the Republicans by not voting, or voting Democrat in the next Election, what a great victory for the MSM/Democrats.

Los Actuadores (The Cheaters)

The President made it clear in his address tonight that he will not support the deportation of the millions of illegal aliens who are already in the country. Sure, the proposal to tighten up the border is welcome, if long overdue.

I disagree with Bush's characterization of these folks as "decent people". Besides the initial criminal act of sneaking into the country, they have been evading taxes since they got here, while consuming social services in numbers that have strained the resources of many states. Al Capone went to prison for income tax evasion. Was he a decent guy, too? Maybe the Capone comparison is a bit extreme; what about the guy who cuts ahead of you in line? Is he a decent guy...or an asshole?

So, they pay a fine, and their back taxes, and promise to learn English; then supposedly go to the back of the line for citizenship.

But what if they don't take the deal? We're talking, after all, about ignorant, unskilled people with faulty moral compasses who just may decide that it's better to stay in the shadows, especially since it's doubtful that many of them have the financial resources to come up with a few thousand dollars in back taxes.

What do we do if 8 or 10 million of los actuadores decide not to take the deal?

4 Well of course what Al Capone was convicted of was much worse. Tax evasion is a FELONY AS IT SHOULD BE. Failure to file a tax form is at worst a humble misdemeanor. Single individuals earning less than 8200 dollars may also not have to file. 6 Time to get realistic and honest, calling them illegals as though they had done something immoral is stupid. For the most part they are hard working people who are trying to escape poverty for themselves and their families. Calling them illegals as though it attaches some moral stigma that can not be over looked, is like calling a child who steals a loaf of bread, a thief. So now we want a war on illegals do we? When are we ever going to learn to work with market forces and not against them? How did the "war on alcohol" go oh that's right we gave up on that one. Well how about the war on poverty? Ya that worked out real well. Oh lets not forget the Â“war on drugsÂ” that one is sure to be successful. I mean we only been at that one for what 30 years or so. The fact is there is a market here for labor that they provide, and the fact that we are, for all intense and purposes at full employment, put the lie to the fact that they are taking jobs away from Americans. Most of these people are hard working law abiding salt of the earth decent human beings. They are a net asset not a net liability. Lets secure the border but lets be honest about the vast of majority of those that are here already. And lets be honest about the contributions they make and that if you canÂ’t keep contraband out of a prison due to market forces what makes you think you can seal our southern border without recognizing we need the labor they provide as much as they need the jobs we provide. It is a win win situation. I am a life long conservative but I have never been as fed up with fellow conservatives and all the griping that has been going on as of late. Stay home this fall and just see how badly you all marginalize yourselves and the fact that you put the war against our true enemies at stake. And we do have real enemies and they are not poor Mexicans trying to get here so that they may provide a living for themselves. I would say you are the one with a faulty moral compass.

Go to the Children's Hospital clinic in Northwest DC. You will see a waiting room of people receiving FREE health care. I had to pay a co-pay but they had to pay nothing, otherwise they might not bring their children in. I went through 3 pediatricians in less than a year. One of them confessed that all of their patients are "high maintenance" requiring no end of education and explanation on how they should be raising their children. We recently moved out of DC. It is called 'white flight' and it was very justified. The cause of this is the crappy conditions in their own countries. I see no better way to force change in them than to send millions of protesters back home. 10-20 million Mexican live in the US already (half legally) This is 10-20% of the ENTIRE Mexican population. Where do we draw the line? I suggest we annex Mexico. Then we can address the real problems back there.

Mike Hampton has a good post today on Freedom, Privacy and Government. As some of you may recall IÂ’m not too fond of the Patriot Act. Not because of it'is use against terror but because of how it will be twisted to other purposes. The natural progression off all governments is to gain more power. To slowly trim freedoms so that eventually none remains. IÂ’m all for taking it to the terrorists as hard as you can. But I think there were already plenty of laws available to do so. By limiting our freedom we hand them a victory. My opinion is go after the terrorists, but congress has to pass laws to make them appear to be doing something. You might think that after 200 years the congress could take a day off as much of the work had been done. But the trend every year is more and more law. Freedom here was a function of our remote frontier location. There were laws just no Law. Each generation finds itself a bit less free and a bit less private. At what point does freedom become not freedom? Discuss.

3 I donÂ’t trust any of them any further that I can throw them. One of the things that bothered me was the politicians coming out to defend Ernie Fletcher last week. Â“itÂ’s a stupid law anyway!Â” , Â“really a very minor issue and politically motivated prosecutorÂ”. So on and so forth. Last time I checked judges donÂ’t buy those arguments but a politician in an impeachment proceeding might. It's the laws are for thee and not for me attitude. Last time I checked the "it's a stupid law defense" was not available to ordinary people.

4 The "it's a stupid law" defense was available to ordinary people, but judges absolutely hate it. It's called jury nullification. It probably happens once or twice a year now, but it was a major factor in ending alcohol prohibition in the 20's and 30's -- almost no jury would convict, precisely because it was a stupid law.

Report Claims Iran Supplies Arms to Insurgency

The report accuses Iran of supplying shoulder fired missiles specifically to al-Qaeda. However Abu Musab al-ZaqawiÂ’s recent video demonstrated primitive rockets. However there are guided shoulder fire missiles in use by the insurgency there. What groups exactly are using them is hard to tell. IÂ’m a bit gun shy of these claims lately. These missiles could come from any of a number of nations in the region. Given that Iran has in interest chaos in Iraq. We are already in a Â“cold warÂ” type situation with Iran. Just who they supplied them to and where they went from there is open for debate. However the fact remains that since these devices have been in use in Iraq the danger to US choppers have increased considerably.

Iran Focus :London, May 13 Â– IranÂ’s Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) had provided the insurgent group al-Qaeda in Iraq heavy weapons including anti-aircraft missiles, it emerged on Friday.
The Iraqi daily az-Zaman which is published in London and Baghdad quoted credible Iraqi sources as revealing that the IRGC had given al-Qaeda in Iraq, Strela-type SAM-7 surface-to-air missiles, modern explosives, and a large number of personnel arms including Kalashnikovs and BKC machineguns.
Al-Qaeda in Iraq is believed to be led by Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, who is on the United StatesÂ’ wanted list.
The report said that representatives of al-ZarqawiÂ’s group met in Beirut with members of the Iran-backed Lebanese group Hezbollah and through them established channels with Tehran.
Three close aides to al-Zarqawi travelled to Iran via a security checkpoint in the Iraqi border province of al-Amara from where they met with Iranian officials, the report added.
The United States and Iraqi officials have accused IranÂ’s radical Islamic government of sending agents and arms into Iraq to assist the insurgency.

CHRON : The U.S. command also said American soldiers and helicopters conducted four raids over the weekend in the Triangle of Death, killing 16 suspected al-Qaida insurgents, including one militant who allegedly had led the April 1 attack, during which two U.S. soldiers were killed when their AH-64 Apache helicopter was shot down in the Youssifiyah area.
After that attack, a new al-Qaida group claimed responsibility and posted a gruesome video on the Web showing men dragging the burning body of what appeared to be an American soldier across a field as they shouted "Allahu akbar!" or "God is great!"

Why did Zarqawi chose to show the less technical Palestinian junk in this video?

The safest is that Iran and other nations have supplied some numbers of these missiles and each Â“insurgent groupÂ” through horse trading have acquired them in limited numbers. Iran is the primary suspect and itÂ’s safe to assume that al-Qaeda has a few or releases shoot down incidents done by other groups and takes credit to create the perception they are more powerful than they are. I suspect Shia militia and Sunni groups also have these and also have an interest in being sure that al-Qaeda gets all the credit/blame. You can however be absolutely sure these things are deadly dangerous to our men and women in Iraq.

Islamic Terrorists Murder Four Teachers.

So CNNjazeera calls them gunmen (I guess freedom fighter didn't quite fit). I call those who murder teachers for teaching terrorists. Tell me just what group murders teachers for teaching when they disagree with the teachings.

Reuters via CNN : BAGHDAD, Iraq (CNN) -- Gunmen killed four teachers Monday near Balad Ruz, northeast of Baghdad, an Iraqi official said.
The teachers were traveling to work in a minibus Monday morning when the gunmen stopped their vehicle, said an official with the Diyala Joint Coordination Center.
The gunmen forced seven teachers and the minibus driver from the vehicle and shot four of the teachers. The other instructors and the driver were allowed to leave, the official said.

How sweet the others were allowed to leave after they watched their four colleagues murdered. Now I see why CNN was so nice. Allowing the others to leave, so they can spread the word, makes up for the lives of the others.

3 I think they used "gunmen" because they had no idea who did it. Could have been Shi'ite death squads, with our weapons and uniforms. Could have been Al Qaeda in Iraq. Could have been a militia of one of the parties. Could have been bandits. You can see it as bias, if you want, if that makes you feel like a "rebel" against the "leftwing" media. But really, it is much more likely that they are using that because, in a fast breaking news environment, they really didn't know if these were terrorists or bandits/robbers. Do you really think that CNNjazeera supports the people who killed teachers? That they don't think those who kill civilians are murderers? I'm sure they don't support them. I'm sure they think they are murderers. How would it look "Murderers killed four teachers today." Duh. Of course they are murderers. But until we know if they are terrorists, death squaders, or bandits, they have to use a term that could cover all of those. Murderer looks pretty dumb. Gunmen does the trick. Relax.

4 "Now I see why......" Howie if you can "see why" you certainly have better vision than most. As for calling any of the fighters in Iraq "freedom fighters" could you provide a recent link for that ? Reminding us all of poorly chosen words may not be in the best intersets of our country in trying to deal with the present situation. But if you do wish to use them perhaps we shopuld also be reminded of some others: "cakewalk"" tipping point" "desperate last throes of the insurgency".In the al-Jazeera link, which discribes it as a drive by shooting, they are called "the attackers". Let's also try to remember that on a typical day in Iraq the murder of four represents only about 10% of the bodies that will be taken to the central morgue in Baghdad. 8 In general when teachers are Murdered it's because someone is uspet that they are educating women or teching something the Islamic terrorist disagree with. So I am making an assumption based on past reports and the general trend. I tend to think of these people as Murderers or Terrorists. In my opinion they do this to make people afraid to speak their minds because they are terrified. See how this works? It seems to me they knew exactly who they were looking for. The reason is unclear. I call it murder/terror because that is what it is. CNN can use any term it wants.

11 Howie, I don't see how to square what you say now with what you said initially. You were clearly criticizing CNN"jazeera" for using "gunmen" and suggesting they use murderers or terrorists. But you say yourself you were working on assumptions in calling them terrorists. News organizations aren't supposed to do that. They can't just assume they know something. They have to know it to be true. And yeah, if we KNEW for a fact that these people were selected for death because they were teachers, then it becomes more likely that it was terrorists. But again, it was still (is still!) possible that they were just bandits, who didn't know the occupation of the people they killed. It is possible that they were Shi'ite death squads (otherwise known as the police) who killed them because they were Sunni. If they used "terrorists" without knowing it to be true, they are being bad journalists. Your initial post was critical of CNN, but now you don't care what language they use? It doesn't make sense.

12 I dunno I've seen a lot of teachers mistreated for teaching. I feel they are ignoring a fairly obvious pattern. We often try to categorize as this or that. sunni vs shia vs kurd. When all have their wonn factions that practice terrorism. That's why I say Islamic terror. I'm just doing the opposite of the apologists. They assume it was not I assume (rather safely I think) it was. from the story it seems fairly clear to me that the "murderers" knew who exacly who they were after. Islamic terrorists don't lie. They mean it when they kill teachers. I've posted several stories where it was for certian that it was terrorists. CNN wan't you to prove it is. I want you to prove it's not. Also does it really matter which one it was.?The bandits, insurgents and terrorists all use the smae methods of control. terror. Fair criticism. No offense taken that's what blogs are for. Update : I'll have to update here because the blog is flakey from here tonight. PBS newshour reported that the bus contained both Shia and Sunni teachers. The Shia were separated and murdered. The assumtion is that these were Sunni terrorists/insurgents/gunmen/killers/bastards. Since the Sunnis baathists and al-qaeda in league I think I'm OK.

13 Good points. My only remaining issue is that you are saying that by using "gunmen" they are assuming they are not terrorists. Suppose it turns out that this was Al Qaeda in Iraq, and not bandits out for money. Was the phrase "gunmen" an error that would require retraction? It's just a word broad enough to cover all categories. You can assume that it is terrorists, and if I had to bet on it, I'd be behind you 100%. But CNN is going to have to wait to find out who did it, or at least get a source that suggests what it is. They aren't assuming it is not terrorists or that it is. They are just waiting to be sure. At least, that's how I read it. "Gunmen" isn't liberal media hesitancy or cowardice in the face of terrorism. It's media hesitancy in the face of uncertainty.

Two Taliban Commanders Killed

(Kandahar, Afghanistan) Two Taliban commanders were among 11 enemy killed by Afghan police during fighting in the Panjwai District about 20 miles west of Kandahar. According to Mohammad Daoud Ahmadi, spokesman for the Kandahar provincial governor, the battle was a big victory even though five policemen were killed.

From Reuters:

Ahmadi said among the 11 Taliban killed was a provincial-level commander, Mullah Abdul Baqi, and a district-level commander, Mullah Abdul Manan.
Manan was responsible for a spate of attacks, including suicide bomb blasts, rocket attacks and the burning of several schools, Ahmadi said.

The Taliban reportedly took eight bodies with them when they fled, leaving three stinking carcasses. The fighting, lasting for four hours, started after Afghan police received a tip that Taliban were in the area. A patrol was then sent to attack. Notably, only Afghan policemen were engaged in the operation. Although it was a minor skirmish, I think it indicates that Afghan forces are capable of imposing government control over the countryside.

London: Signs of Civilizational Decline

The neighborhood we are staying in shows the inevetable decline of Western civilization.

Half the signs are in Arabic. Most of the restaraunts and cafes promise 'halal'--which is the Muslim equivalent of kosher.

Pretty much every one I've met in the shops speak with an accent--and not a British one.

But the key sign that British civilization is in decline?

No Mountain Dew. Anywhere.

Is it any wonder the Empire collapsed?

2 Dr. Pepper is another (canary in the mine) indicator. I was on a ship calling Middle East ports. It was no problem getting cases of Coke and other sodas, but a case of Dr. Pepper: $27 for 24 cans. That was back in '95. Let's see the muslims rid the uk of porn. If they can manage that then we are all finished!

Only "pop". Indiana, however, has only recently discovered fire and the wheel, so it's not surprising you had difficulty finding a variety of beverages.
