Denmark and Norway on Monday condemned as incitement to murder a Pakistani cleric’s offer of a reward to anyone who kills any of the 12 Danish cartoonists who lampooned the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).“It’s murder and murder is also forbidden by the Koran,” Danish Foreign Minister Per Stig Moeller told a news conference with his colleague Jonas Gahr Stoere from Norway, which has been dragged into the row after a paper published the cartoons.
“Islam is also a religion of peace, mercy and forgiveness. That is why it is my opinion, but also the opinion of many Muslims, this is un-Islamic,” said the Danish minister.

Defense Secretary John Reid urged the public Monday not to condemn British troops in Iraq, after video footage emerged showing soldiers beating Iraqi protesters. While insisting he was not excusing abusive actions, Reid called for greater understanding of the severe pressures faced by troops serving in the country. In a speech at King's College, London, he attacked "armchair critics" who passed judgment based on the actions of a few while ignoring the good work of the many.
"We expect our people to uphold the highest standards of behavior and when they fail we will act, quite rightly," he said.
"But they also have the right to expect everyone else, whose safety is dependent upon them, to consider the environment in which they are operating before we pass judgment from the safety of a television studio, from the green benches of parliament or from the comfort of an armchair," he said.

This time it's Russia...

Shown are Jesus, Buddha, Mohammed, and Moses watching a crowd of clashing people while saying, "We never taught them to do that..."

The University of Toronto's student newspaper, the Strand, has published a cartoon of a gay Jesus kissing Muhammed. The cartoon was published as part of a debate over whether to show images of Muhammed from Danish papers. The image shows the face of Jesus, but does not show the face of Muhammed. Jesus is also seen disrobing Muhammed. The same newspaper has refused to publish the Muhammed cartoons which have sparked worldwide riots, murders, and calls to impose the death penalty on all who blaspheme by misunderstanderers of the Religion of Peace.
Here is how they hypocritically defend not showing the Muhammed cartoons, but showing big gay Jesus:
But was it really freedom of the press, or a case of media martyrdom? Publishing these cartoons seems to do little more than fan the flames of already-existing controversy. Is it the press's responsibility to decide what people should absorb, or is providing an option more important? Articles are somewhat different; you can decide whether or not to read something based on the headline - which, admittedly, is questionable on the subject of giving audiences agency. A graphic or photograph, however, is much more intense: you don't really have the choice to view it or not.Right.

Related from Publius Pundit via Michelle Malkin. Incidentally, I lived in Russia for a time and the newspapers often contain nude women. So, it's okay to have a centerfold in your newspaper but it's not okay to offend Muslims?

From JPost.com:
American officials have been quietly probing whether Georgia, situated just northwest of Iran, will be willing to allow Washington to use its military bases and airfields in the event of a military conflict with Teheran, The Jerusalem Post has been told.Georgian officials expressed fear of civil unrest and possible harsh Iranian retaliation but, given their dependence on American aid and support, feel obligated to help the U.S. There's also the already-strained Georgian relationship with Russia to consider. The Americans have been putting out feelers, a high-ranking Georgian government foreign affairs official told the Post, in advance of a possible military strike to prevent Iran from achieving nuclear weapons capability.
Considering the negatives, American forces attacking Iran from Georgia seems like a longshot to me but, even so, it's on the table. Also being considered is the use of airfields and bases in Azerbaijan, another close ally of the U.S. Officially, everybody everywhere is denying everything. However, despite the denials, Iran appears to be taking the situation quite seriously.

"Vinnie," of course, is a pseudonym that arose from the fact that when I started blogging, everyone thought my name was Vince.
Someday I'll sit down with ya'll over a beer and tell you more about myself. Once I'm positive you're not wearing a Semtex belt.

For the past two weeks, Patrick Sookhdeo has been canvassing the opinions of Muslim clerics in Britain on the row over the cartoons featuring images of Mohammed that were first published in Denmark and then reprinted in several other European countries.Guess what? They have won, for now. Here, too, unless you can think of a major news outlet in this country that has published a Mohammed cartoon."They think they have won the debate," he says with a sigh. "They believe that the British Government has capitulated to them, because it feared the consequences if it did not.
"The cartoons, you see, have not been published in this country, and the Government has been very critical of those countries in which they were published. To many of the Islamic clerics, that's a clear victory.
"It's confirmation of what they believe to be a familiar pattern: if spokesmen for British Muslims threaten what they call 'adverse consequences' - violence to the rest of us - then the British Government will cave in. I think it is a very dangerous precedent."
The Press is opposed to upsetting Muslim sensibilities, unless, of course, they have some juicy video of British soldiers grabbing young Iraqi rock-throwers or some old photos from Abu Ghraib.

JAKARTA, Indonesia - Hundreds of Muslims protesting caricatures of the Prophet Muhammad tried to storm the U.S. Embassy on Sunday, smashing the windows of a guard post but failing to push through the gates. Several people were injured.Talk about boneheaded ignorance. No, not the cartoon jihadis; I'm talking about the American mainstream media who thought they could appease these savages by refusing to print the Mohammed cartoons.Pakistani security forces, meanwhile, sealed off the capital of Islamabad to block a planned mass demonstration and fired tear gas and gunshots to chase off protesters. In Turkey, tens of thousands gathered in Istanbul chanting slogans against Denmark, Israel and the United States.

Just a reminder to loyal minions that I do not blog on Sunday. I call it the 'Blog Sabbath'. I'd advise other bloggers to take a day off, too. A day spent away from a computer screen. A day to recharge your batteries. A day to reconnect with family and friends. A day to remind yourself that the most important things in life are the relationships you build, and not politics.

Mohammad Ali Samadi, spokesman for Esteshadion, or Martyrdom Seekers, boasted of having hundreds of potential bombers in his talk at a seminar on suicide-bombings tactics at Tehran's Khajeh Nasir University. They have "trained martyrdom seekers"?"With more than 1,000 trained martyrdom-seekers, we are ready to attack the American and British sensitive points if they attack Iran's nuclear facilities," Samadi said.
"If they strike, we have a lot of volunteers. Their (U.S. and British) sensitive places are quiet close to Iranian borders," Samadi said.
Samadi reviewed the history of suicide bombing as a weapon, praising it as the most effective Palestinian tactic in their confrontation with Israel.
"Here Ahmed, put this on, find a group of children, push this button."

Amidst protests in Uttar Pradesh against the caricatures of Prophet Mohammed, a state minister Friday announced a reward of Rs.510 million ($11.5 million) for anyone who beheaded the artists responsible for the cartoons.
Looks like we need to set up a donation system for The Filthy Report.
