Malarkey Is An Affront Up With Which They Will Not Be Putting

And now for something different from the Secret Kingdom of Beloved Leader.

WARNING: Do not read the following story aloud unless you are seated. If you begin to feel faint, stop reading and place your head between your knees while breathing deeply. Persons suffering from respiratory illness or disease should not attempt.

From the Korean Central News Agency of DPRK:

U.S. Ambassador's Repeated Malarkey under Fire
Pyongyang, December 15 (KCNA) -- The Korean people will resolutely cope with the repeated malarkey of the U.S. ambassador in Seoul slandering the system which they chose by themselves, established by their own efforts and value like their lives, considering them to be a declaration of war against the DPRK and the whole nation. A spokesman for the Korean Democratic Lawyers Association said this in a statement issued on Dec. 14 in denunciation of the U.S. ambassador's malignant outcries that there is no change in his thought that the north is a criminal state and that cooperation should be coordinated, while openly interfering in inter-Korean relations and taking issue with "military threat" from someone.
I'm not sure exactly what malarkey the North Korean people are objecting to, or if it is, indeed, malarkey, and not bunkum, piffle, or balderdash.

Also posted at The Dread Pundit Bluto, where we don't cotton to malignant outcries full of malarkey.

Q&A Time

Q: How does a Jew respond to seeing his people murdered routinely by Arab Muslims?

A: Click to find out.

That boy's not naive. He knows that in order for Israel to be at peace, first the surrounding nations need to be at peace with themselves.

Getting Shiites, Sunnis, Kurds, Turkomen, Assyrians, et.al. to find common cause is a first step to getting them to realize that Israel is not the enemy.

Getting them to realize that "we are endowed by our Creator, with certain inalienable rights...that all men are created equal" would do wonders for the Middle East.

Call me an optimist, but I see the day when Iraqi diplomats stand up in the U.N. to denounce the constant criticism of Israel in that body.

After today, it could happen.

[personal note: I'm sick of off-topic comments by everyone showing up in my email. Stick to the subject or STFU]

Moderates Split from Conservatives? I Think Not.

I’ve never been more proud of Mr. Bush or Mr. McCain. John McCain for sticking with it and Mr. Bush for proving he is a reasonable man. Look out for the “me too” on the left. But no this is Moderate and Conservative Republicans working together and coming to an agreement. Also notice the forward looking let’s solve a problem attitude. Rather than stomp on America these men got together and worked out a good solid compromise. So if the left hopes to cut the moderates from the Republican herd I say to them, “Fat Chance”!

Bush Via Yahoo:

the agreement will "make it clear to the world that this government does not torture and that we adhere to the international convention of torture, whether it be here at home or abroad."

McCain Via Yahoo as well:

"We've sent a message to the world that the United States is not like the terrorists," McCain said earlier as he sat next to Bush in the Oval Office. "We have no grief for them, but what we are is a nation that upholds values and standards of behavior and treatment of all people, no matter how evil or bad they are. And I think this will help us enormously in winning the war for the hearts and minds of people throughout the world in the war on terror."

Could not have been said any better eh? We just get it done thatÂ’s all and with without dishonoring our nation. May God bless George Bush and John McCain they do it just the way it should be done. Rather than go around bad mouthing they get together and work it out like reasonable men. We donÂ’t always agree but we understand each other and love our country first! Common sense practical solutions are what we are all about.

Another reason for moderates to stick with the W man.

Crime & Punishment

The other day, I asked my readers to share their views on the death penalty and why they believed what they believed. It is no surprise that most of the answers are divided down party lines with the more liberal readers being against the death penalty and the more conservative ones for. Even if it doesn't drive elections, this is probably one of the most contentious issues before us today. Most of the contention comes from the fact that there is no real factual basis for belief either way. There is nothing to point to on your side to say "I'm definately right and you're definately wrong." And when we try to assign factual basis to our arguments, then we sometimes end up a lot further off base than we'd like. For example: some conservatives argue that the death penalty is necessary because it costs too much to feed and house a criminal for the rest of his life. Personally, the idea of putting a dollar value on a human life, even the life of a serial killer, bothers me. If we allow it to be done in the case of a criminal, how long will it take to do it in other cases too? How long will it take to determine that keeping grandma alive simply costs too much? We're already headed in that direction due to other arguments and I'd like to aviod it as much as possible.

In order to understand the death penalty, we must understand the reasons behind the death penalty. And in order to understand that, we must first understand the proper reason for crime and punishment to begin with. Most people in the US believe that jail is (or should be) for the purpose of rehabilitation. Thus, we have introduced numerous social programs, projects and experiments aimed at turning the criminal into a useful member of society. This process fails for a number of reasons.

For the most part, a criminal has already been taught (or has been born with) a certain mindset. This mindset can be caused by any number of factors, but the largest factor is simply not being taught any differently at home. Does that mean that someone who grows up in a good home with loving parents and is taught right from wrong will never do anything bad? No, but the odds of them becoming a career criminal are far smaller than someone who grows up in a single parent home or with parents who disregard him and is not taught right from wrong.

A child, growing up and being taught, will absorb just about anything you give him at the time. They are constantly learning and emulating everything that they see and hear. They are eager to learn. However, once a person gets out of that child stage, learning becomes a matter of choice. They will not learn anything that they don't wish to learn. And when a person is being punished, they are nowhere near as likely to want to learn. So, when rehabilitation is combined with punishment, the likelihood of its success is dropped dramatically.

In order to simplify matters, I equate the treatment of criminals to raising children. In both cases, they need constant reminders of what is acceptable and what is not. And when they know the rules and break them intentionally, then they are swiftly punished for that violation. The punishment has nothing to do with rehabilitation and is used simply to make them scared enough of the punishment that they do not wish to repeat it.

Of course, this assumes that all criminals have "normal" minds. There will always be serial criminals or people who commit crimes of such horrific proportion that they must be treated differently. When such a person is identified, it is obvious that they it will never be safe to allow them to interact with other people. No amount of rehabilitation will change them and no social program will "reeducate" them. For this type of person, there are only two solutions. Leave them in jail for the rest of their natural lives or kill them. I propose that if this is the choice, it is more humane to kill someone rather than keep them locked up for the rest of their lives with no chance of ever seeing the outside again.

It has been suggested that if we are to supply such a horrific choice, the criminal himself should be given the choice to either live in prison or die. I'm afraid, though, that this approach would open the door to cries of "state assisted suicide." And that would be a reasonable claim. It would be somewhat of a catch-22 if someone knew that just by committing a horrendous crime that they would be allowed to die and they wouldn't have to do anything themselves. Would we still be able to put that person to death? Of course it's possible for that to happen even now, but the odds are much smaller when the decision is in the hands of a judge and jury.

Although our current death penalty system is not perfect, I haven't been presented with any reason yet to do away with it. In a just system, some people simply cannot be allowed to live. It's not pretty, it's certainly not nice, but it's the truth.

On Media Differences

A great day, with all this election business in Iraq. Historical, some would say. Yea, nearly all headlines talk about the historic-ness (yes, I just made that a word). But a few news outlets have a curious phrasing in their stories...

"...the first full-term parliament since Saddam HusseinÂ’s ouster..."

Um, can we, like, not count anything during the Hussein era as democratic? Hell, Nazi Germany had a full-term parliament throughout the war. Doesn't mean it was comparable to a truly elected body. Only Fox News seemed to have the right idea to include this clarification (though they also include the stock phrase from before):

"Some Iraqis said Thursday's vote was a symbolic gesture of democracy that had been suppressed for years under the brutal rule of Saddam Hussein."

Because, no matter what some in the media think, this does NOT count as democracy. Then again, this might explain a lot of why the media cannot see any progress in Iraq -- once again, they have no idea what to look for.

Clueless Idiots Get Their Press Credentials Pulled

From the Richmond Times-Dispatch:

NORFOLK -- The military this week pulled the press credentials of an embedded reporter and photographer for the Norfolk-based Virginian-Pilot newspaper in Kuwait, saying they had violated ground rules by photographing battle-damaged military vehicles.
Stupid, but their editor is an even bigger imbecile:
But after the paper published the story and photos on Saturday, the Kuwait-based Coalition Forces Land Component Command, Forward, pulled their press passes, noting that one of its ground rules prohibits video or photos of battle-damaged vehicles.

[Editor Denis] Finley said the incident happened on the final day of the men's two-week trip to the Middle East, "so we were done anyway." He said he was waiting to hear the full story from the two, who were in transit back to the U.S., before deciding how vigorously to protest.

I'm sure all the anti-war folks are convinced that the Bushitlerburton military doesn't want photos of damaged military vehicles circulating for propaganda purposes.

The fact is that battle damage photos can give enemy combatants important clues about any vulnerabilities the vehicles may have. Vulnerabilities that can then be exploited to kill more American soldiers. And the fact that editor Finley (who is so stupid he doesn't even know how to spell "Dennis") is going to "protest" being gigged for endangering troops, simply shows why such a pair of monumentally stupid morons were sent by his paper in the first place.

Also posted at The Dread Pundit Bluto, who knows he's supposed to be posting election news, but these idiots were just too much.

Simply Disturbing News From Planned Parenthood

I'd like to thank the ever busy Jeff Quinton for taking a second to point out The Conservative Voice's coverage of this disturbing "Shared Story" (Wayback Cache) from a satisfied Planned Parenthood customer:

It Keeps Us Safe

I was raped at 11, by my 17 year old boyfriend. I chose not to tell my parents because I didn't think their involvement would help, that was the right choice for me. Planned Parethood helped me deal with the aftermath of the rape allowing me to deal and cope as best as I could in my own way. I was 14 when I decided to start having sex, the day I made that choice I made an appointment to get birth control pills. I'm 17 now, I've been with my current boyfriend for about two years. During that time i've been HIV and STD tested four times. Right now I'm sitting in the waiting room while my boyfriend gets the results for his HIV test. We love each other so we're responsible and Planned Parenthood helps us to do that.

- name withheld -

To me, something is wrong here. If an 11-year-old girl walks in and says she's been raped and Planned Parenthood finds out she's pregnant then why shouldn't she be encouraged to let her parent's know? Does anyone else see something wrong with this?

Are Terrorists “Radical”?

As a co-blogger and long time blogident of The Jawa Report I’ve seen a lot of bad examples of Islam. I’ve seen beheadings and Rusty has taught us all the ideology that the terrorists follow. Also I’ve met Muslims here, although they are hard to find, that totally reject that doctrine and call for reform. The recent meeting in Saudi Arabia of Muslim leaders shows that Islamic nations are keenly aware of the perception Islam itself is the problem. They work very hard to disavow the terrorist doctrine and project an appearance of a peaceful intent. I for one have taken every opportunity I’ve had to publish those who call for reform of Islam and for peace. A couple of Muslims I’ve had contact with have stated that Islamic nations need to look inward for the source of their problems. Often times just the opposite happens. Rich western nations are blamed for oppressing the great progress Islam would have could have should have brought. One thing I’ve learned in life if you find yourself in a bad situation blaming others does not solve much. This “victims” attitude leads to hate and violence that only breeds worse conditions. Remember Anger leads to hate, hate leads to suffering. The roots of this violent “blame game” are in the scriptures of the Koran. Being who Howie is I really hate to say what I must now say. But the problem is it’s true. Christians no longer force confessions and death sentences for “non believers”. In other words we have progressed and reformed. Without a root reform and change in attitude of Islam war is inevitable and Islam itself is in danger of destruction. If it’s a fight you are looking for I’m sure the west can accommodate you. But if peace, reform and progress are Islam’s true nature. If Islam can live in peace with the rest of the world and tolerate all the other faiths I have two words for you. Show me.

Frontpagemag:Now for the first time, a key Pentagon intelligence agency involved in homeland security is delving into Islam's holy texts to answer whether Islam is being radicalized by the terrorists or is already radical. Military brass want a better understanding of what's motivating the insurgents in Iraq and the terrorists around the globe, including those inside America who may be preparing to strike domestic military bases. The enemy appears indefatigable, even more active now than before 9/11Â… Â…
The internal document explains that Islam divides offensive jihad into a "three-phase attack strategy" for gaining control of lands for Allah. The first phase is the "Meccan," or weakened, period, whereby a small Muslim minority asserts itself through largely peaceful and political measures involving Islamic NGOs -- such as the Islamic Society of North America, which investigators say has its roots in the militant Muslim Brotherhood, and Muslim pressure groups, such as the Council on American-Islamic Relations, whose leaders are on record expressing their desire to Islamize America.

In the second "preparation" phase, a "reasonably influential" Muslim minority starts to turn more militant. The briefing uses Britain and the Netherlands as examples.

And in the final jihad period, or "Medina Stage," a large minority uses its strength of numbers and power to rise up against the majority, as Muslim youth recently demonstrated in terrorizing France, the Pentagon paper notes.

WTW Local Trash Plus International Asshole #1

First we have Walter McCommon Jr. who is common trash. When he gets to the state pen I hope he has a nice long career as someoneÂ’s beotch. Old Walt just could not let go of his latest love. He loved her so much in fact that he beat her for three days for wanting to go home.

WTVW:Attendants at Palmer`s Market say the woman was badly beaten, and extremely grateful to be free. She told them that she had been driven around for several days and beaten, and did not know where she was. Police say she is from Columbia, Mississippi, and had been dating McCommon. They say he became enraged when she told him she wanted to move home.

Next we have trashy trash collector John D. Maxey who helped make ends meet with taxpayer funds.

WTVW:Now the former Solid Waste District Manager has to repay more then $13,000 he took from his department. John D. Maxey pled guilty to one count of theft and told the court that he stole $13,580 while running the Solid Waste District

Move him to the sewage plant firing is too good for him. Make him play with poop all day. Uh, John poop pipe #7 is clogged again.

But the trashiest man this week is not white. In fact he is a powerful idiot. I would imagine it is embarrassing for the people of Iran to have such an asshole leading the country, making and ass of himself in restaurants and in front of other civilized nations with his daily blabber. He could at least trim his beard not and then or maybe bathe on Wednesday. What really drives it home is he does not learn. He just keeps repeating the same stupid stuff. If this guy is not the next Hitler wannabe you can kiss my smelly white ass. Hopes this guy can be bargained with are misplaced. See you have to be able to understand the bargain. This guy may require a slap up side the head very soon.

Here are your White Trash Wednesday bloggers

Tookie Execution Outrages Europeans

It's being reported that the Europeans are outraged at the execution of Stanley Tookie Williams because it reminds them of the state-mandated murders committed by the Nazis.

I'd like to send every one of the outraged Europeans an electronic boo-hoo and ask why in the hell are they not outraged when al Qaeda kidnaps and beheads innocent civilians? And where is the outrage at generations of suicide bombers among the Palestinians? Until there's an expression of outrage against blatant murder by the terrorists, the Europeans can take their protest against capital punishment and shove it in their Danube.

Gay Cowboys Eating Pudding

From Variety:

Gay themes grab hold

This year's Globe noms highlight a year in which lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender characters played major roles in crossover titles.

"Brokeback Mountain," "Breakfast on Pluto," "Capote" and even "The Producers" put gay characters front and center.

"Transamerica" has a transgender lead, and Pierce BrosnanPierce Brosnan plays a bisexual man in "The Matador."

From Breitbart.com:
Plummeting 2005 box office sparks Hollywood crisis
Even a much-hyped giant gorilla, a geisha and a schoolboy magician won't be able to create a happy ending at the US box office, as Hollywood ends its most disappointing year in nearly two decades. Plunging movie ticket sales, after a string of uninspiring remakes and movie sequels coupled with an explosion of the DVD and video game markets, are keeping audiences at home and have sent Hollywood into a deep existential crisis.
Yeah, it's the DVDs killing ticket sales. Give us more gay cowboys eating pudding and we'll come back. Yeah, that's the ticket.

Islamic Army in Iraq Link to Peace Activist Hostages Confirmed

The Jawa Report was the first media outlet to report that there was a possible connection between the Islamic Army in Iraq and the Swords of Righteousness Brigade, the group responsible for kidnapping four Western peace activists in Iraq, in a November 29th posting. In fact, what is said by the director of the SITE Institute in this Canadian National Post article comes awfully close to plagiarism.

The kidnappers holding four Christian activists hostage are connected to the Islamic Army in Iraq (IAI), one of the country's leading insurgent groups, a U.S. researcher said yesterday.

Although the previously unknown Swords of Righteousness Brigades has claimed it kidnapped the two Canadians, one Briton and one American, the SITE Institute said it had found ties to the Islamic Army. At least two of the videotaped statements issued by the hostage-takers were uploaded on to a hidden directory on the IAI Web site prior to broadcast, suggesting a link to the insurgent group, Rita Katz said.

"I would say that there is a strong connection between the hostage-takers and the Islamic Army," said Ms. Katz, director of SITE, a U.S. terrorist research organization that monitors jihadist Internet activities.

If correct, the link is worrisome because the Islamic Army has killed most of the hostages it has taken, including Italian journalist Enzo Baldoni. A statement from the group last week claimed that American consultant Ronald Allen Schulz had been executed....

The SITE Institute came across the IAI link last week, when the kidnappers issued a videotaped statement extending the deadline for meeting its demands until Saturday.

You'll notice that SITE came across the link a week ago, while The Jawa Report (with thanks to Tribeca and OVO) was reporting on the connection before they even discovered it:
The video showed Canadian hostages James Loney, 41, and Harmeet Singh Sooden, 32, as well as U.S. hostage Tom Fox, 54, and Briton Norman Kember, 74. All are members of the Christian Peacemaker Teams.

Ms. Katz said the video was hidden on a part of the Islamic Army Web site that only those in contact with the administrator would have been able to access. The research group later discovered that another video issued by the kidnappers had also been uploaded on to the Islamic Army site. "Apparently the first video that was received was also posted on that same hidden directory," she said.

That hidden directory was first discovered by Tribeca, a mutual friend of Infovlad and The Jawa Report. The directory has been since deleted.
She did not go public with the information at the time, fearing it could prompt the kidnappers to kill the hostages. Instead, she alerted U.S. investigators in Iraq.
I also alerted the Feds on this, and now that this is in the open, that was why I deleted a certain mysterious post.
But she said now that the deadline has passed without word of the fate of the hostages, she felt it was time to make public the link to the major insurgent group, the second- or third-largest in Iraq....

The nature of the relationship between the hostage-takers and the Islamic Army remains unclear, but is being investigated by U.S. authorities. One expert speculated the Swords of Righteousness could be nothing more than a front for the Islamic Army, possibly set up to raise money through ransom while distancing itself from the unsavoury act of kidnapping for money.

Here is how we first reported the connection: more...

Lunch with Howie

Stradgedy

Sixmeatbuffet:Play the children's war game that ties your hands from the very beginning! Fight the War on Terror with nothing but white flags and low-ranking Senatorial game pieces. Fun for the whole family - right up until the beheading!

John Howard and his plan for Aussie Riot control. Alternate. Sunday is for white guys, Monday is for Muslims, Tuesday is for whites again so on and so forth.

A good argument for what happens when gun control goes too far. No gun control at all and you get everyone carrying an RPG. Too much and you get homeowners unable to defend their property from hooligans. Fear of the police wonÂ’t stop riots. On each side you have innocent people caught up in this. If there was a healthy fear that you might spend the next six hours having buckshot extracted from your behind, itÂ’s possible you might think twice about burning some guyÂ’s car. If you are one of those "guns kill people idiots" I have a solution for you. Rock salt reloads are an excellent non-lethal deterrent and does not have to be dug out. Burns like hell too until it dissolves. That should leave a lasting impression!

Also why it is some Arabs move to a country and want to enjoy all the benefits of that country but still they consider themselves Arabs first. Want to live in a western country move there and call yourself an American or an Aussie. But as you can see some of these jerks live in Australia but speak of their hosts as if they are the immigrant. Uh, you can always leave if you take no pride in the country you live in. Stop taking advantage of the hospitality and go build a decent homeland so we donÂ’t have to put up with you. If you want to be a loyal citizen good for you and welcome. Otherwise hit the road Jack.

CNN:"The Aussies will feel the full force of the Arabs as one -'brothers in arms' unite now...,"

There will be stories like this all week. We have a lot of troops in Iraq right now to help with the election which means they are more exposed. Also expect assassinations and attempts to derail the election. I expect that the election will go off as planned. IÂ’m not sure who killed this guy but donÂ’t forget Saddam loyalist Sunnis warned Al-Qaeda this week not to interfere. May be them or rivals or one of the opposition.

About time.

Some people just donÂ’t get it.

CENTCOM:In general, seek to deify man and denounce Islamic Shari’a, as politicians become the “highest authority and there is no other authority above them.
Nope they have it wrong it goes God, People and then Government. See how this works? The Government serves the People not the other way around. Then the people serve God in the manner they see fit. This is the promise of democracy and the separation of church and state.

A picture is worth a thousand words.

IÂ’m a bit perplexed by all this concern for Mr. Williams may he rest in peace. LetÂ’s not forget that if you truly believe that this man was redeemed then he no longer suffers and is free of prison and the evil that plagued his youth. IÂ’ll not judge Mr. Williams statements of late or question if he was guilty of the specific crime he was executed for. I do however want to take a minute to point out the following. Tookie was a very lucky man. How you say? Old Stan as leader of the Crips would have gotten the best drugs, the best women, and everything his heart desired. After his arrest he was most likely treated well in prison by both the inmates and the staff as he held power. Yes Mr. Williams could end your life with just a word. His word could start a riot or end one. Also after his redemption he wrote books was allowed to do other good things. With his execution he becomes even more of legend. I for one hope his redemption was in fact real and may God have mercy on his soul. I support the death penalty but an execution is not a pleasant task it is a somber sad responsibility. By his own admission he was a criminal and therefore justice has most likely been served. So donÂ’t cry for Tookie he did a lot of living no matter how you slice it.

Note: Captain Ed's post was a good one and he has some good links too. I linked him because I liked the post not because he expressed too much sympathy for Tookie. Those posts you will have to find on your own as I won't link em.

Israel: EU Violating International Law By Contacting Hamas, Hezbollah

A recently disclosed Israeli Foreign Ministry document states that the European Union is breaking international law by contacting the Islamist terrorist groups Hamas and Hezbollah. Hamas is running candidates in the coming Palestinian elections.

From Haaretz:

"Several countries have adopted a policy that includes entering into official talks with representatives of Hamas and Hezbollah, or refraining from taking harsh measures against their involvement in terrorism," the document states. "From a legal standpoint, such political considerations cannot justify activity that is contrary to international law."

The writers of the document based their comments on resolutions passed by the United Nations Security Council, which outlaw active or passive support for bodies or individuals involved in terrorism.

The Israeli charge is apparently based on UN Resolution 1373 (2001), which states, in part:
The Council also decided that States should prohibit their nationals or persons or entities in their territories from making funds, financial assets, economic resources, financial or other related services available to persons who commit or attempt to commit, facilitate or participate in the commission of terrorist acts. States should also refrain from providing any form of support to entities or persons involved in terrorist acts; take the necessary steps to prevent the commission of terrorist acts; deny safe haven to those who finance, plan, support, commit terrorist acts and provide safe havens as well.
It would seem that Israel has the EU dead to rights. Let the weaseling begin.

Also posted at The Dread Pundit Bluto with a lovely photograph of Hamas candidates discussing their platform.

The Blog Sabbath Caption Contest: The Ayatolla Is Well Endowed Edition *Fatwas Issued*

Caption this photo of Mohammed (Hans Blix Is My Bitch) El Baradei pointlessly pontificating on something somewhere.

Fatwas will be issued Monday at the earliest convenience.

Which, truth be told, isn't all that early at all.

But hey, at least I keep my word, I don't promise fatwas on Monday and deliver on Wednesday, like SOME authors here have done in the past.

Honorary fatwa bestowed on Mr. Venom before any comments are made, because he scares me, and I don't like urine running down my leg.

**Fatwas issued. Told you it would be late, but I was taken by tookie, or is it tooken by tookie, eh, whatever.**

4 fatwas and a funeral (and a write in vote for mayor of Carmel, CA) to Graeme for:

""So I'm in Ahmadinejad's office and I whip out my metaphorical 44s and I say in my famous Clint Eastwood voice: I know what you're thinking. Did he issue six sternly worded letters or only five? Well, to tell you the truth, in all this excitement, I've kinda lost track myself. But being as the IAEA is part of the UN, the most prolific writer of sternly worded letters in the world, and would instantly swamp your desk, your paper shredder and your recycling bins, you've got to ask yourself one question: 'Do I feel lucky?' Well, do ya punk? That's when Ahamdinejad conceded defeat and promised that Iran's nuclear program would only be used for civilian use. Then he had to excuse himself to take an urgent phone call about a new Russian-built rocket motor, or something like that.""

The "eat 'em, they'll make you horny" fatwa to Oyster for:

""So you see? My right hand knew not what my left hand doeth for some time now."" [sooper sekrit note to Oyster, take the [dot] out, spam will find you anyway. Trust me on this one. heh.]

The "dammit, now I have to change my underwear" fatwa to Mr. Venom, who freaks me out with that email, for:

""I have seen the Iranians' facilities, and their spent fuel rods are this big. What, why must you always laugh when I say that?""

(dishonorable mention) The "my favorite minuteman cuts off heads, because I'm a squealing halfwit moron" fatwa goes to Screw Em, for:

"Soooo....what brown skin folk we toasting the death of today? And which American soldiers we ignoring the deaths of by lies today?

Bueller?"

Thanks for playing, come again next week, and vote for VAM, cuz that guy that de-linked Rusty is in the lead again. Poopyhead.

French Arrest 20 Members of 'Islamic Network'

France's domestic counterterrorism agency, Direction de la surveillance du territoire (DST), arrested twenty people in pre-dawn raids around Paris today believed to be part of "...an Islamist network linked to terrorism".

From the BBC:

Some of the suspects are believed to have been involved in crimes to help fund Islamic groups.

The raids on homes and internet cafes were ordered by French anti-terrorism magistrates.

Most of those detained were young men of Tunisian and Moroccan origin, some holding French nationality, officials told AFP.

French politicians have not yet agreed on a new anti-terror bill that would allow terrorist suspects to be held up to six days, instead of four. We'll have to check back in four days to see if the French government is busy negotiating terms of surrender with the Islamists.
