Zarqawi Indicted in Jordan

Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, the leader of al Qaeda in Iraq, has been indicted by Jordan. Let's hope he dies a painful death at the hands of a US Marine long before he ever sees a court room. Xinhua:

Jordan's State Prosecutor Mahmoud Obeidat charged Zarqawi, a Jordanian origin who was wanted with 25 million US dollars for his head over a string of attacks in Iraq, and his suspected aide Muammar Ahmad Jaghbir with "plotting subversive acts," said the paper.

The August 2003 bombing of Jordan's embassy in Baghdad killed 18, including a Jordanian and five Iraqi policemen, and injured dozens.

Zarqawi and Jaghbir were also sentenced to death in absence by Jordan for plotting the assassination of US diplomat Laurence Foley outside his Amman home in 2002.

Meanwhile, Zarqawi's group has claimed responsiblity for many murders in the past several days, including this one from SITE:
Two communiqués posted on March 2, 2005 on a jihadist message board by Abu Maysara al-Iraqi, official spokesperson of al-Qaeda in Iraq , headed by Abu Musab al-Zarqawi claim responsibility for two attacks against the Iraqi National Guard.

The first message describes how a suicide bomber “attacked a patrol of National Guard under the Baghdad Bridge on the highway. He (the suicide bomber) killed plenty of them (Iraqi soldiers) and wounded others, grace to Allah.”

The message claims insurgents in Iraq are close to victory: “Our brothers in the Jihad Organization in the country of the Two Rivers (Iraq) are on their way to jihad and victory for the Muslims who are fighting for the sake of Allah till His Shari’a prevails over peoples and countries.”

The second message claims responsibility for an attack outside the al-Muthanna airport in western Baghdad. The airport, no longer in use, houses US forces and Iraqi National Guard soldiers.

1 I would say this is an important step if Jordan now takes measures to capture him. The fact that his country of origin recognizes him as a criminal means that he is not considered a freedom fighter and that is very important.

2 It's taken Jordan long enough. Guess the first measure to make him a glorious martyred hero didn't go over in the international pocketbook (read: US finalcial support) so they had to come up with something more fitting for him. (Slap me, Rusty, I am sooooo sarcastic today.)

3 A Marine getting a hold of this guy would be too good for him. No, i am sure there are more than enough Iraqis who would looove to get their hands on him.No worries about torture and whatnot. Kill him reeeeeal sloooow! That will be sweet revenge! M.W.
