Missing persons Forum
WTVW has posted a link to a
missing persons site started by a
New Orleans paper. The site is so that people searching for loved ones can possibly link up. This sort of stuff seemed to work in London a while back. I may be the last to know. If you know of other sites post em in the comments and we'll move em up.
Updated : hat tip Jawa readers.
http://www.gulfcoastnews.com is establishing a list and is looking for online persons to volunteer at shelters taking names and listing them for the many people without power, computers or Internet. They are also in need of server power as their resources are greatly limited right now as well.
B4B posted this site: http://www.katrinafinder.us/ along with this info, "Dan Ford from Electric Desert has devised a database for those hoping to locate a loved one in the Katrina disaster zone, and can also be used by those living in the Katrina zone to inform their loved ones they are OK."
KatrinaHelp.info is shaping up to be a good resource, too
CNN has started a page of links as well.

Erin reports that Fats Domino is missing in New Orleans.
Updated: Fats has been located and is safe.
The big man in the office upstairs sends this link.

When they had one of those missing persons sites in Sweden after the new years catastrophe in the Indian Ocean, the missing peoples houses got burglarised, but I don't think you'll have that problem here...

I just paid 2.69 at a station in Tampa, Florida. Across the street, it went up to 2.99 while I was there. Also, at the same station that I was getting gas at, a really selfish and inconsiderate guy had filled his entire SUV with 5 gallon plastic gas containers, 20 in all, plus filled up his SUV. All while ten cars waited behind the selfish inconsiderate SOB to finish hoarding as much gas as he could grab.
I thought there was a law against hoarding gas. If there isn't there should be.
Of course if there was a law against being a selfish, inconsiderate jerk, this guy'd already be in jail.
My brother tells me that they are already rationing gas in Venice, Fl.

Even Moderate Muslims are Pro Terrorist
In Russia they have a saying:
Scratch a Russian find a Tartar.
I'm afraid that if you scratch a moderate Muslim you find that just underneath the surface is an antisemite, a paranoid conspiracy theorist, and a supporter of international terrorism. I wish this wasn't so, but all the evidence seems to point that way.
In fact, the word moderate is a meaningless political term. When was the last time you met some one who believed they were an extremist? Not likely to happen.
Muslims who call themselves moderate can hold a variety of political positions ranging from those who support the goals of al Qada only disclaim the methods used to those who wish to see fundamental reform in Islam to bring that religion into the 21st century.
Karim is a case in point. His first letter to me is here. Below are excerpts from his second letter to me. I'm not going to respond to him, but read how a moderate Muslim sees the world. He is an antisemite, a conspiracy nut, and a supporter of terrorism all the while believing he is a moderate. He even invokes the name of Michael Moore to justify his pro-terrorism stance. Imagine that?
Unfortunately, I'm afraid he is right. He is a moderate. And that is telling.

Rusty, this is distrubing as hell. Scary, that it most likely is the average moderate Muslim's way of thinking. Now, I will not say all...I worked beside a Muslim in the war, in the Air Force. It is possible he hid many of his true feelings, but he fought for the right side anyway, and I consider myself a good judge of character. But it is scary this kind of hate has developed in their minds.

we are rascists???...Jews are rascists???....yet here is the proof in the pudding...a Muslim who claims he isnt rascist yet goes on a rascist rant that Jews arent liked, that Jews are made fun of all over the world, that Jews are the reason that Muslims kill....what is wrong with Muslims???......and im sick and tired of Muslims saying how we CANT understand , its a CULTURAL thing....what alot of horse puck...this is a HUMAN thing you stinkin sanddwelling , camel kissing idiots...and America is somehow to blame....What is that crap???...America wasnt even around 1400 years ago when islam reared its fugly head out of the sand with a phedophile as its stinkin prophet...you know, im not a very religious man though i am a Roman Catholic and i do believe in a higher power, but as far as im concerned, Jesus, wether you believe in him or not, was at least a peacefull man who taught love, peace, tolerance, respect and many other things that should be common sense for all of mankind....yes and so did Bhudda and many other religious men of their times....but yet somehow some sand dwelling, lice and flea infested, camel breathed thing by the name of Muhammed who taught his brain washed legions hate, torture, rape, stealing, murder and war is called a prophet of a peacefull religion????.....you gotta be kidding me???...if i was a mobster enforcer and Muhammed was standing next to me as he explained his "religion" to me, id wack his ass so fast he wouldnt have time to scream....as much as i try my best to be understanding of different people and their ways i will not EVER and i mean EVER understand Muslims and Islam...and its not that i cant understand them, cause i do, its just that they do NOT deserve my understanding or my respect for a "CULT" that worships SATAN and DEATH...anyone who likes to see blood spilled while they dance in the streets and laughs is a worshipper of the Devil...thats it!!!...frickin Allah my ass...Allah is not God as the Hebrews know him, as the Christians know him....i have never read in any Bible where Jesus told his disciples to go forth and spread his words by killing anyone who did not agree with those words...i hope i not coming across as if im on a religious, Christian rant and if i am im sorry if i insult anyone but im just mad as all hell that in the 21st century, with all this wonderfull technology, and modern thinking, and medicine and so many other things to try and advance mankind even farther, we still have to put up with such an ignorant, arrogant, USELESS, hatefull religion like Islam...mankind has better things to do with its time than spend it trying to keep a religion from murdering us in our sleep or trying to enslave and brainwash us....yes, i do believe this war is very needed to keep us safe from these fanatic Islamicfascists, but i would much rather see all this energy and time and money spent on finding cures for so many deadly diseases,to helping millions of people get jobs and homes to live in,but Islam has other plans for us all it seems and its plan isnt user friendly......sigh.....

People seem able to adapt their beliefs and principles to what serves their naked interests. I just saw an interview on the Moonbatish LinkTV that was surprising. An Aussie interviewer was interviewing an Australian-born Muslim about Howard's demand that they respect the laws and culture of Australia or get the hell out. His response was very much like the fellow above, and he had some pretty inventive pretzel logic to get around the fact that he wasn't about to observe Howard's demand. I was sort of amazed that they showed this on LinkTV, given how revealing it was about Muslims. (They don't really have a compromise position. There can be no reconciliation between western liberal/democratic values and Islam on a "national level" even for Muslims in Australia. But he still claims that "for individuals" Muslims can choose to be reconciled.
I have no idea what that nonsense means, and I suspect neither does he. It's just nonsense spoken in English so that it sounds like a logical statement.
But again, as soon as the interests of Muslims are advanced by subscribing to a belief in liberal/democracy they'll alter their "convictions" somehow. It's just the way the human species is programmed.

Top Taliban Terrorist Killed in Afghanistan
Remember that other war we're fighting? You know, the one in that country where the U.N. is in charge of rebuilding and where NATO is in charge of security, yet, despite all that
international cooperation there is still an active insurgency? Yeah, that country. It looks like we got another one. Unfortunately, just like in Iraq, kill a terrorist and another one takes his place.
CNN:
U.S. forces have killed a senior Taliban commander responsible for a spate of attacks in southern Afghanistan, the U.S. military says.
The man, identified as Payenda Mohammed, was in command of more than 150 Taliban fighters in Uruzgan province. He was killed along with three of his men in a battle last week, a U.S. military spokesman said.
"He was known for conducting rocket attacks, ambushes, guerrilla-style attacks and setting up illegal checkpoints," Colonel Jim Yonts told a briefing....
U.S. A-10 aircraft and attack helicopters were called in after the insurgents took up positions in some caves. Vehicles and weapons were later found in the caves, he said.
In a separate clash, six Taliban fighters were killed in a battle with police in Zabul province in the south on Sunday, a provincial official said.

Katrina and some politics.
Category 5 yes 5 Hurricane Katrina is threatening New Orleans. ItÂ’s a big one.
The storm was moving west-northwest at nearly 12 mph and was expected to turn north-northwest. Forecasters said the weather would start getting rough late Sunday and the eye would strike land early Monday.
The President urged evacuation.
I urge all citizens to put their own safety and the safety of their families first by moving to safe ground," Bush said.
FOXNEWS Sunday reveals the democratic plan for winning the war.
WALLACE: Senator Dorgan, what's the Democratic plan? What specifically would your party do differently in conducting this war?
DUNCAN: Well, first, I mean, this is not about good news or bad news. You know, the fact is we need to get the facts straight about what's happening in IraqÂ…Â…..BLAH BLAH BLAH.
Nice plan.
Senate Majority Whip Mitch McConnell, R-Ky. See got that right this time. Has an easy job pointing out But sir you have not answered the question.
Terror attack in Beersheba injures 21. Captains Quarters has more.
Twenty-one people were wounded Sunday, two seriously, in a suicide bombing at a central bus station in the southern Israeli town of Beersheba, Israeli officials said. ...
I see this goes right along with the Hamas “peace” plan.
We did not achieve the liberation of the Gaza Strip without this holy war and this steadfastness," he said, adding that attacks should continue until Israel is eradicated. Israel's obliteration is Hamas' ultimate goal. Sr. Commander Mohammed Deif.
I see peace by obliteration. Hmm interesting conceptÂ….
Russia gives US senators a hard time. LetÂ’s be sure and see that Lugar and the rest have to say when they get back.
Sens. Richard Lugar, R-Ind., and Barack Obama D-Ill., were held at the airport in Perm but allowed to leave after discussions between U.S. and Russian officials, the embassy spokesperson said on condition of anonymity. The spokesperson also said Sen. Chuck Hagel, R-Neb., was delayed in departing from another Russian airport Sunday because of documentation problems.
OK long post. Also the Iraqi constitution will be voted on who knows Ace has his two cents here as well as good hurricane info and other news.

Report: Bin Laden Injured by Spanish Troops
Islmic websites have began circulating a rumor that Osama bin Laden was injured. Yesterday afternoon The Jawa Report began to get bombarded with Google traffic looking for 'bin Laden rumor'. I could not locate any relevant information, though, until this morning. If true, which cannot be confirmed at this time, then we know Osama bin Laden's location and that he is still actively engaged in the fight to return the Taliban to power.
ADNKI:
Osama bin Laden has been wounded in Afghanistan, according to two different reports carried by various Islamic websites. Referring to the al-Qaeda leader as Abu Abdullah, the second message, which appeared on Wednesday, said: "Mullah Ahmadi, military leader of the Badr brigades, which form part of the al-Qaeda organisation in Afghanistan, has confirmed that Sheikh Abu Abdullah has been injured in his left leg."
It follows a previous message on several Islamic websites saying the fugitive terrorist leader was injured while taking part in an attack on a Spanish military base in Afghanistan.
The second message relaying the news is titled "Confirmation of the injury of Sheikh Abu Abdullah in the Al-Khulud expedition" and adds other details, specifying that the injury was to the left leg and claiming it was sustained "when the Sheikh went out onto the battlefield to lead the expedition during which the Spanish base was attacked and which was named the Al-Khulud expedition."
"The source has promised to broadcast soon a video of the expedition, which lasted four hours," the message continues, before concluding: "Therefore we ask Allah to heal the Sheikh and make him well again. Don't be miserly in praying for him."
Is it just me, or does it seem odd that Osama bin Laden is actually
participating in attacks on NATO forces? If the report has any basis in reality, isn't it much more likely that bin Laden was hit in his camp than that he was injured while leading an assault on Spanish troops?
UPDATE: Mac Powell also notices the story and is equally skeptical of claim bin Laden leading attack. And as Mike Pechar says, these things have turned out to be wrong in the past.
UPDATE II: Speculation: 10Snooker, in the comments, makes the keep observation that this could be the set up for an announcement that bin Laden is dead. It's just a lot sexier to say he died of battle wounds than from kydney failure, I guess.

Breaking: Agreement (NOT) Reached Over Iraqi Constitution (UPDATED)
UPDATE: Looks like a false alarm. While we should applaud the Kurdish and Shiite representatives for looking to find consensus with the Sunni minority, but at some point you just have to move on.
Bloomberg:
Iraq's lawmakers agreed on a draft constitution and will use three more days to consider amendments in an attempt to resolve differences among Sunnis, Kurds and Shiites, the parliament speaker said in an Iraqi state television broadcast.
``We received the draft of the constitution,'' Iraqi National Assembly President Hachim al-Hasani said within 10 minutes of a midnight deadline in Baghdad to submit the constitution to lawmakers. ``But there are some points that are still outstanding and need to be addressed in the next three days.''
---------
Omar at
Iraq the Model report this insider scoop:
National Assembly member Bahaa Al-Aaraji just told Al-Iraqia TV that an agreement has finally been reached among the leaders of political bodies on the final draft of the constitution and that disputes over issues like federalism, distribution of resources and the role of Islam have been solved.
Via
Glenn Reynolds
MSM now confirming:
``We have assurances that leaders have agreed on nearly all items,'' Iraqi Prime Minister Ibrahim al-Jaafari's spokesman, Laith Kubba, said in a telephone interview today from the capital, Baghdad. ``Substantial progress has been made.''
Al Jazeera:
Iraqi Shia and Kurdish negotiators say they have agreed on a draft constitution after weeks of talks and are to present it to parliament regardless of whether the minority Sunnis agree.
Omar adds in this update on the role of Sharia:
it was agreed upon that no laws that are against the widely agreed upon values of Islam can be issued and no laws that are against the values of democracy and human rights can be issued.
But since a widely agreed upon value of Islam is that Muslims are forbidden from converting to another faith and a fundamental human right is freedom of faith, how can the two coexist?

The Sunni's will not ratify the constitution by vote in predominately Sunni areas. Chaos is their bag. That is why they are secretly and not so secretly supporting the insurgents and foreign terrorist dogs.
The only way the country can move ahead is ignore the Sunnis. What is wrong with the Shites ruling the country? The Sunnis did it for 30 years. Someone else's turn.

Talk to me.
DonÂ’t miss this one from Rusty. ItÂ’s imperative that everyone knows exactly how our enemy treats itÂ’s prisoners.
See the great conditions they afford us
Yes Democrats all over have figured out things arenÂ’t exactly going very well lately. Yep William Jefferson Clinton has been all over the place all week. Everyone is talking Bill. I picked my favorite Bill quote for the week. Mr. Clinton had asked a friend of his why he had gone over and voted for Mr. Bush. The gentleman, a Democrat and preacher who had in the past Voted for Bill answered Mr. Clinton below is how Bill puts it.
“And he said, not listen to this, Now listen, He said Bill every since you left nobody in your party talks to us anymore. You can’t vote for somebody who doesn’t talk to you”.
Nuff said Bill. Don't forget to post your favorite Bill quotes below boys and girls.
Questions about our southern border. See I'm way far inland so emmigration to me means I get mexican food.
Schwarzenegger has said he supports the actions of his fellow governors but does not think there is a crisis along
CaliforniaÂ’s border...... Tisk, tisk, Arnie. ThatÂ’s not what you said in April.
Sadam gets reflective?
"Where is life without faith and love and the harmony which is inherited in our nation?Â… Â… My brother, love your people, love Palestine, long live Palestine, love your nation," he wrote.
Well then Sadam, how about calling for an end to the insurgency for the sake of the Nation of Iraq?
For sure this week the talk is about this new Democratic glow. Well as you can see from the above story it’s an “if you can’t beat em join em”. Beware of wolves in sheep’s clothing.
Speaking of fresh meat the Media and the leftÂ’s mouths are watering at the prospect that the Iraqi Constitution will not make it this week. Around about 1949 another Country was being asked to go ahead and move out of the area of Palestine. That country said it was too early and it had only been five years since the end of WWII. Oh no they can work it out on their own get out everyone said. Anyone care to guess who it was and what happened next? Details?? Intresting comparison though.
Yep got the Yard mowed and cooked out on a fantastic and hot day in America. Thanks Guys. Ok now I got to eat this ice cream.

Taliban Reemerging In Afghanistan: Lessons for Iraq
Regular readers of the Jawa Report will know the Taliban never really went away, they only went into hiding. Now, the MSM is beginning to pick up on the reality of the situation on the ground. Two of the main anti-Iraq war points are clarified by the facts on the ground in Afghanistan.
A) If only we had gone in with a larger coalition things would be better. Far more countries are in Afghanistan than Iraq, which is now a NATO-led security operation.
B) If the U.N. had been put in charge of rebuilding, things would be better. The U.N. is in charge of reconstruction in Afghanistan.
C) The Bush Administration doesn't have an Iraq exit strategy. Well, what is our Afghanistan exit strategy? We may be in that country just as long or longer than Iraq. Is lack of an 'exit strategy' a valid reason to oppose a war?
D) The Bush Administration did not sufficiently plan for post-war nation-building? And the U.N. has done a much better job in Afghanistan?
From what I gather, there are only two main differences between Iraq and Afghanistan which explain the much lower level of violence in the latter country. First, the resistance in Afghanistan today is basically the same resistance that we fought nearly four years ago. Remnants of the Taliban and their foreign jihadi armies have consistently fought us from our initial invasion to the present. The vast majority of these fighters understand that they were defeated and there is no hope of victory. Armies with no hope of victory soon lay down their weapons. I would be willing to bet that the vast majority of Taliban partisans in Afghanistan today are foreign jihadis or newer recruits that had little involvement in the fighting of four years ago.
In Iraq, we are fighting a different army and a different war. In our initial invasion we fought the Iraqi Army and Baathist partisans. Today we are fighting domestic and foreign jihadis. Those we fought in the invasion were trying to keep the Hussein regime in place. Today we fight a new enemy which has a goal of creating a Taliban like state in Iraq.
The Baathists and Iraqi regulars which we fought in our initial invasion know that we won and that they have no hope of ever coming back to power. They saw the awesome power of U.S. military might and are in no hurry to face that might again.
Those that we fight today, though, are religious extremists with a very different outlook. Combine this worldview--which like their Taliban brothers sees an inevetable victory for Islam--with their consumption of alternative media images which portrays the U.S. as losing in Iraq, and you have a highly motivated army. They fight because they think they are winning.
The second difference is the sheer number of boots on the ground and the urban setting of Iraq. We just have far more targets in Iraq than we have in Afghanistan and the jihadis in Iraq have a far easier time of hiding in urban centers. While many analysts claim that we need more troops on the ground in Iraq, it may very well be that we have too many (this is a disputable point and one which I am willing to change if more information comes to light). More troops would only help us win in Iraq if those troops could demoralize our enemy while simultaneously wipe out media images that portray U.S. soldiers in a negative light and which claim that we are losing. Until our enemies believe that cannot win, they will continue to fight.

I've often thought we shouldn't be overly anxious for the Arab media to stop broadcasting their delusional accounts of victories over the US forces. As long as they are fighting us, it is easy to recognize who the enemy is. Sure, IED's etc. make life dangerous for our troops, but as long as these guys keep poping their heads up and our soldiers continue to turn them into pink mist, were atriting them down. Once enough of them are killed, the fighting will end.

A popular Des Moines Barber shop had a new robotic barber installed.
A fellow came in for a haircut. As the robot began to cut his hair it asked him, "What's your IQ?"
The man replied, "130." So the robot proceeded to make conversation about physics, astronomy, investments, insurance, and so on. The man listened intently and said, "This is really cool."
Later, another gent came in for a haircut and the robot asked him as it began the haircut, "What's your IQ?"
The man responded, "100." So the robot started talking about football, baseball, and so on. The man thought to himself, "Wow, this is really cool."
Later on, a third guy came in to the barber shop. As with the others, the robot barber asked him, "What's your IQ?"
The man replied, "70." The robot then said, "So, I understand you Democrats are really excited about Hillary running for president?"

A gentleman went to England for his vacation. He spent one evening hitting all the pubs he could find, drinking beer after beer. He then decided to take in some of the sights, but before long realized he needed a bathroom. He had no luck finding a public bathroom so he slunk down a dank alleyway and about around to make sure he wasn't being observed.
As he pulled his zipper down an English Bobby tapped on his shoulder and said, "Sir, you cannot do that here." Well the man was embarrassed and apologized, but explained his predicament to the bobby. The Bobby then said, "I understand. Follow me." He then led the man down a few more streets and anothr dark alley to a gate. He said, "You can go in there, sir."
As the man entered the gate he found himself in a beautiful garden. All the plants and hedges trimmed and all the flowers in perfect bloom. He though, "Wow. This is great." So, with the bobby's blessing, he did his business and went back out the gate.
When he came out, the bobby was still there. The man said, "That was wonderful. So that's what they call English hospitality?"
The bobby replied, "No, sir. That is what we call the French Embassy."

A city slicker came to visit Grandpa on the farm.
He asked what are all those little round things on the ground?
Why those are smart pills, said Grandpa, try one.
The city slicker tried one and got a strange look on his face.
What's the matter asked Grandpa?
Tastes like shit, Said the city slicker.
See you're getting smarter already Grandpa Replied.

Missed Me Missed Me
now ya gotta, eh, nevermind.
AMMAN,
Jordan (AP) - Unknown assailants fired at least three missiles from
Jordan early Friday, with one narrowly missing a U.S. Navy ship docked
at port, an attack that killed a Jordanian soldier. One missile fell
close to an airport in neighboring Israel, officials said.
Further down in the story they say it was a mortar, which isn't a missile, but, that's the informed media for you. It's neither here nor there anyway. No matter what was fired, the firees should be bowing towards the black rock in gratitude that they missed.
We'll file this under Not A Wise Thing To Do At This Point In History.

Al Qaeda Implicated in Bangladesh Bombings
Remember, Bangladesh used to be known as East Pakistan. Whenever the ROP complains about the ultimate blame resting on Israel proclaiming itself a state, remind them that Pakistan and Bangladesh are nations today because--in spite of Gandhi's pleas--millions of Muslims insisted that they could not live within a multi-religious Indian state.
Gateway Pundit has the al Qaeda angle covered here.

Al Qaeda Loves the Porno and Drugs
Jane, from
Armies of Liberation, brings news that an international smuggling ring with possible ties to al Qaeda has been thwarted along the Saudi-Yemeni border. What were they smuggling? Oh, the usual al Qaeda stuff: guns, ammo, dynamite,
PORN, and
DRUGS.
ML:
According to Gulf News, the material seized included thousands of dynamite sticks and booby-trapped wires, live ammunition, as well as drugs, large amounts of cash in Yemenite currency and CDs of pornographic films.
My suspicion is that it was
gay porn and ecstasy. It's just funnier to think of it that way!
UPDATE: Just to clarify, I mean bad gay porno. You know, the kind with guys.

Al Qaeda Claims Downing of Apache Helicopter (Images/Video)
Al Qaeda has claimed to have downed an Apache helicopter in Iraq and has posted a video online to bolster that claim.
The video can be found here (see August 15th). Images from the video posted below.
SITE:
Today, August 13, 2005, al-Qaeda in Iraq released two claims of responsibility to a jihadist message board. In the first statement, the group announces an attack which “disabled” an Apache helicopter “in the area of al-Radwaneya in West Baghdad,” where the mujahideen claimed to have set up “an ambush.”
The video, however, does not support the al Qaeda claim.

Al Qaeda Anti-Constitution Propaganda Posters
Click for larger image.
Counterterrorism Blog contributor Evan Kohlmann has a collection of new al Qaeda posters aimed at undermining the new Iraqi constitution. Al Qaeda reminds Iraqis that they believe election centers are legitimate targets and any one voting in the constitutional referendum is abetting the apostate government. Al Qaeda also reminds people that it believes democracy is against the will of Allah. Expect an upsurge of violence targetting any one associated with the Iraqi government.

I doubt the Sunnis are going to fall for that one again. I bet they participate. Boycotting an election is like throwing out he baby with the bath water. It does not help them in the long run it just hands power to the opponent.

Howie is correct for sure... the Sunni's see how their boycott backfired on them during the last election which they boycotted and saw how much they lost by not participating, so hopefully this time they have wised up and will join in and see how much a part of the new Iraqi government they can get involved in

What iraq needs is a secular strongman leader who will give rights to women, religious minorities, and put the hurt on the extremist shiites and kurds. He should use iraq's wealth to build up a considerable army for defense and to keep the peace and he should not take any guff from terrorists such as abu nidal. He should also accept any military assistance in the form of weapons and money from the United States and the west in general, and keep the oil flowing no matter how hard the islamists try to defeat him.

Terrorists Rescue Hostages from Other Terrorists
Terrorists from the Mahdi Army loyal to radical Shia leader Moqtada al-Sadr have freed four hostages in Iraq from Sunni terrorists loyal to al Qaeda. One of the freed hostages was an AP photographer.
BBC:
Followers of radical Iraqi Shia cleric Moqtada Sadr say they have rescued four hostages from their kidnappers hours before they were to be killed.
Members of Mr Sadr's Mehdi Army freed the four Arab hostages from "terrorist groups" holding them in Baghdad, an aide to the cleric said....
"Members of the Mehdi Army have freed some Arab and Iraqi hostages, kidnapped by terrorist groups who were planning to kill them in the coming hours," he was quoted as saying.
The freed men identified themselves to an Associated Press photographer as Syrian Hisham Salem, Lebanese Mustafa Abdul-Rassoul Hussein, dual Syrian-Lebanese citizen Atta Ibrahim and Iraqi Kurd Haji Alawi.
A spokesman for Mr Sadr, Amer Husseini, was quoted by AP as saying the men were freed on Thursday night during a raid on an apartment in the northern district of Shaab.
He did not say what happened to the kidnappers or why the men had been seized in the first place.
While I hope for the best in Iraq, I fear for the worst.

It is said that war is politics by other means. Maybe so in this case. In South Africa, the ANC and white government were engaging in violent acts against each other even as they were negotiating the terms of democratioc transition.
And maybe I am a Chinese fighter pilot.
I think we are looking at the roots of a civil war. That has bad and good elements.
The Sunnis may fear for their lives and act as they are - diverting resources to militant units rather than political ones. The Shia, in control of the government, will look to a) US forces or b) Iranian support. Iran is willing to help them, that is for sure. If the US helps them, then their level of local political legitimacy diminishes. If they get Iranian help, it increases as they would be seen by Shia as able to conduct international affairs on their own terms.
The big upside is a Islamic war between Shia and Sunni. They each would claim the true source of faith and the proper interpretation of Shariah law. And they would suicide bomb each other. It would be pretty sweet.
Down side would be that non-Iraqi Sunnis would go there, train, and then leave, spreading their experience to other parts of the world, inlcuding the US and UK.

Terrorist supporters flock to the Jawa to see their brotherÂ’s handy work.
It never ceases to amaze me the fun I get to have watching stuff scroll by. RustÂ’s post from last week on privateers. Well the fact that so many terrorist web sites always have to move around or hide makes it kind of difficult for them to find each other. So when they feel the need to watch olÂ’ Zaqueery saw some poor bastards head off. They come here. Then they read all the nice little comments everyone leaves and well they just canÂ’t resist now can they.
So check out Fridays comments on this thread. They guy is too nasty for me to put up here. LetÂ’s just say heÂ’s all invited us to entertain him sexually. I think we should oblige him donÂ’tÂ’ you. But not quite in the same manner as he suggests. First of all old believer whines about us ruining his and other fine Muslims reputation. Sorry Seray it not us itÂ’s you and the people who Sawed off poor Mr. BergÂ’s head. IÂ’ve watched a total of 2.000001 of these and I can tell you now thatÂ’s freaking evil, the executions, the Beheadings. So if you have a problem with it and you think itÂ’s our fault. You donÂ’t have a leg to stand on bother.
So while we are here ItÂ’s worthwhile to note that a big fat security update has been released by Microsoft. It delayed me a bit this AM but letÂ’s all take the time and add it. Mac users have a good time relishing the fact that you donÂ’t need 5 spy tools, two virus scanners and on and on and on. Linux users too.

Gaza in Chaos, Red Cross Leaves
If it wasn't so tragic, it would be funny. Let's remember that it is the Palestinian Authority that
controls Gaza. I use
control loosely in this context, since armed gangs of thugs and terrorists seem to roam freely and without fear of reprisal--except by other armed gangs of thugs and terrorists who have
deep ideological differences over whether the future Palestinian state should be a Syria-like secular dictatorship, an Iran-like theocratic police state, or a Taliban-like populist theocracy ruled by local
shura councils.

Amen. Then again, the greatest problem confronting the Palis is that no one controls them. This is coupled with the fact that those that are in contention for the position are murderous thugs. Not a great setup for a peaceful nonviolent solution.

Now just how much of our taxpayers's dollar's are going to the Palestinian Authority? What a complete waste of our money this is, to go to a bunch of thugs who will probably use the money to buy a nuclear weapon to blow up one of our cities or one in Israel.
