French Hostages Freed

Reuters:

Islamic militants in Iraq have handed over two French hostages to another guerrilla group opposed to their kidnap and murder, the editor of one of the reporters held captive says.

As hopes rose that Georges Malbrunot and Christian Chesnot could be released as soon as Friday, the Muslim day of prayer, French Foreign Minister Michel Barnier told reporters he understood the pair were "alive and getting good treatment".

Le Figaro editor Jean de Belot said on France Info radio on Thursday: "The latest information is that Christian Chesnot and Georges Malbrunot have been handed over by the Islamic Army in Iraq to an Iraqi Sunni guerrilla group... an opposition that we know for a few days now has been in favour of the release of the hostages."

Anger/irrational/irresponsible mode on:

What????!!!!??? Are you fu**ing kidding me? 31 other hostages are dead! 31!!!! And two fu**ing frog journalists are threatened with death and the whole fu**ing Islamic world rises up to their defense? Just last night three Turkish hostages were murdered. Three...yesterday!!! The day before that TWELVE!!! You sons of whores in the Islamic world. You bastards. Where were you when Kim Sun-Il begged for his life? When Enzo Baldoni was awaiting his certain death sentence, why were you not out protesting for his release? For a month 12 Nepalese hostages plead for their lives, where were you? You bastards. You bloody bastards. Damn you for this. Damn you to hell.

1 What's worse, is that I keep wondering if any money is going to change hands over this. Money would certainly cause a "change in tactics." If true, this means the French would be financing murderers.

4 You want to read some really horrible jihadic garbage by children, teens, students, young adults -- no compassion for hostages regardless of age or country as long as they're not Muslim. Yet they have plenty for their "brothas and sistas". These "kids" ate pathetic, the next generation of murderers: http://forums.gawaher.com/index.php?act=idx http://jihadforum.3.forumer.com/ http://firdaus.org/forums/ What lovely children .....

5 I concur, Rusty - glad you spoke the words I'd like to say. Gordon's right, too, even if they are French. Will have to see what tomorrow brings. And BJ, the kids are friggin scary. Rusty is not the only one pissed. ~Cindy

6 So I was right about these 3 Turks? I didn't want to be, Rusty and was hoping it was the other three from the other day. CRAP, CRAP, CRAP. DAMMIT ALL TO HELL. This is not what I wanted to see tonight. Oh, they will probably be damned in Hell but we won't get the pleasure of knowing that unfortunately. Any word on the school hostage crisis?

8 Even the Pope seems to have a notion that the kidnapping of the french journalists is more dispicable than all the others murdered or currently in custody.

9 Doesn't look like the two french journalists have been released yet and I have to wonder why. Anybody know? ~C

10 I am a French. I am happy that Christian Chesnot and Georges Malbrunot are free. I am sad for other hostages that have been cruelly killed, and for others yet captive. But I want to add one thing : hatred is not a solution. That is the problem, whatever your nationality.
