French Hostage Release Imminent

An unofficial French negotiator told a radio station Friday that two journalists held for more than a month in Iraq could be released within hours.Philippe Brett told Europe-1 radio he was with the two Frenchmen and negotiations were being finalized for their release. The journalists, Christian Chesnot, 37, and George Malbrunot, 41, and their Syrian driver disappeared Aug. 20 while apparently driving toward Najaf.

Y'know, Rusty, if November 3rd Bush says "My fellow Americans, I have given orders to begin the invasion of France", I think I'd get in my car, drive down to the Army recruitment place, and enlist.

I wonder how much France payed for their release. My guess is that they payed less than Italy because of the friends and family discount.
