I must say I also detected a bit political bullshit in the stories suggesting Hamas is rejecting advice from al-Qaeda. Of course Hamas must reject al-QaedaÂ’s advice publicly and the stories focus in this quote from Al-Zawahiri.

However, when the story broke over the weekend there was an additional line in the message that has “mysteriously” been removed from most of the stories. Howie searched far and wide yesterday for this quote and found it. However my PC here says that floppy sucks(don’t they all) so I had to research more this am to find it again finally on FOXNEWS.

In other words Doc (Al-Zawahiri) gives Hamas an out to pursue power using all methods as long as the end goal is establishing an Islamic state. One has to be careful not to be swept up in these messages. This one in particular seems especially designed for the west. Remember when Zawahiri and Hamas talk about Palestinian soil they mean all of Israel as well. Not just 1967 borders. Also Zawahiri speaks to the Christian Right mingling anti homosexual rhetoric with a reference the Jesus Christ.

This is an attempt to hide al-QeadaÂ’s distaste for Christians as a whole. Remember as a Worshipper of the Cross you can be deceived or directly lied to in order to advance the struggle to establish Islamic states. So while statements released publicly for our consumption often stress the Muslims and Christians are separated by but a fine line, we must be careful about falling for this political game. An online Jihadi called eXtreme in Iraq posting messages on an Islamic message board

CENTCOM : On 1 March, 2006,"eXtreme" posted toHanin Netthree statements issued by The Mujahidin Shura Council in Iraq[Majlis Shura al-Mujahidin fi al-Iraq] in which the group claimed responsibility for destroying a US armored vehicle in Mosul and another in Al-Fallujah and clashing with police and Badr Corps forces in Baghdad. "eXtreme" attributed the messages to the "Media Commission" of the Mujahidin Shura Council inIraq. The "Issues ofIraqand the Nation" forum inHanin Netis dedicated to newson jihad and Iraqi insurgent groups.
A translation of partsof the statements follows:
--"On Monday, 28Muharram 1427, corresponding to 27 February 2006, your brothers of the militarywing of The Mujahidin Shura Council detonated an explosive on a Crusader's armored vehicle on Al-Muthana Street on the left side [as published] of Mosul. The attack resulted in completely destroying the armor and the annihilation of every one of the cross worshippers on board, and the fire continued to flare for one hour with the worshippers of the cross inside the vehicle without anyone approaching the vehicle. All praise and gratitude be to God."
--"On Saturday, 26Muharram 1427, corresponding to 25 February 2006, your brothers of the militarywing of The Mujahidin Shura Council detonated an explosive on a Crusaders' convoy in the Al-Fallujah region. The operation resulted in destroying a vehicle and the killing of everyone inside was either killed or wounded. All praise and gratitude be to God."
--"On Saturday andSunday, 26 and 27 Muharram 1427, corresponding to 25 and 26 February 2006, your brothers of the military wing of The Mujahidin Shura Council confronted thepatrols of the apostate police and their supporters of the scum of the Corps of treachery [Badr] as they attacked the Sunni people in Al-Fadl region inBaghdad. The mujahidin brothers used light and mid-range automatic weapons. The confrontations resulted in killing no less than five apostates and burning two vehicles. All praise and gratitude be to God."

.ISRAEL NATIONAL NEWS : Former Israeli UN Ambassador Dore Gold wrote an op-ed piece Sunday outlining some of the extensive links that have been found linking Hamas and Al-Qaeda:

* In 2003, an Israeli ground unit in Gaza, seeking Hamas suspects, went into a school established by the founder of Hamas, Sheikh Ahmad Yassin. Written materials that Israeli soldiers collected revealed the writings of a famous Saudi Wahabi religious authority, Sheikh Sulaiman al-Ulwan. His ideological entry into the world of Hamas immediately raised eyebrows. After all, his name was featured in a famous Osama bin Laden video clip from December 2001, when the al Qaeda leader entertained his entourage on camera by re-enacting with his hands the hijacked aircraft slamming into the World Trade Center on September 11th. In that video, one Saudi messenger entered the scene at the end, telling bin Laden that he brought with him a "beautiful fatwa" from al-Ulwan, who had justified the mass murder of Americans. Now his ideas have penetrated the Palestinians as well. And his Islamic religious ruling justifying suicide bombing attacks appeared on the Hamas Web site along with those of other al-Qaeda clerics.

Bin Laden sent emissaries to Hamas in September 2000 and January 2001

* Israel arrested three Hamas terrorists in 2003 after they had returned from an Al Qaeda training camp in Afghanistan. Al Qaeda chief Abu Zubaydah entered the world of terrorism through Hamas. And according to a 2004 FBI affidavit, Al Qaeda recruited Hamas members to conduct surveillance against potential targets in the United States.

* In 2003 and 2004, Israeli forces found Hamas posters that were distributed in West Bank cities that extolled the war being waged by Islamic militants in the Balkans, Chechnya and Kashmir. Gold also writes about Hamas and Al-Qaeda's common source of recruits and grassroots support of the Muslim Brotherhood present in every country in the Arab world.
