'Beat me once a week'

An Iranian woman, beaten every day by her husband, asked a court to tell him only to beat her once a week.Hat tip: Bill Dauterieve (PS-I said....)Maryam, the middle-age woman, said she did not want to divorce her husband because she loved him.
"Just tell him to beat me once a week ... Beating is part of his nature and he cannot stop it," Maryam told the court.

This is one of the things I meant when I said the Iraqi people had to stand up on their feet and put an end to terrorism in their country. CB the soldier from Mosul talks about such a guy he ran into up in Mosul stating he was a "wife beater, a drunk, a guy who never gets off his ass and does any work around the house or yard" never mind community or country.

Just one distinction: This happened in Iran, not Iraq.
But from my experience in another Muslim country, I can state unequivocally that oppression of women is all too commonplace.
