I pledge allegiance to the flag of the Unites States of America and to the Republic for which it stands, one nation,
, indivisible, with Liberty and Justice for all.
So part of living in a democracy is that the minority must be protected from an over zealous majority. I would argue the reverse is also true. The majority should not have to be subject to the whim of an over zealous minority.

Pledging allegiance to a flag seems kinda funny to me. Do you all have to do that at some point of your life and how often do you do it?

Finn: We used to say it every morning when I was a kid in public school. In church we often do both the Christian flag and the US flag. It's not a fanatical thing it's more of a tradition. You know the monotone let's get it over with tome of voice. Although in hard times it's a comfort and more emotion goes into it at least for me it does. No one is forced to do so. Well back in the day you would have gotten looks a few stares still rural areas. It just seems to me it's a lot easier for one kid to leave the room than for 30 to give it up. No it's not required but I think new citizens have to give an oath of some sort. I would have to ask one of our immigrants here to be sure what they did.

The Christian flag? What's that?
...and the kid that leaves the room would definitely get picked on for being different in the "wrong" way.

One of the reasons I am disapointed in Bush is he said he would nominate *conservatives* to the benches. Instead he give us middle of the road guys like Roberts. The reason we need people like Janice Rogers Brown is this ruling. Just like the pro Muslim 911 memorial the ACLU is taking over. We need *conservative* judges! Not wishy washy moderates!

I knew you would say that A Finn. I think the guy filing this should swear off money. It does have "in God we trust". He should teach his kids to never ever touch the dirty money. Yeah right.

When I wrote "wrong", I didn't mean it is actually the right way to be different, in a group of kids it's just considered wrong to be different alone or against what the most kids parents say.
That Christian flag thing really gave me a scare. That's the most surprising and unusual thing I've ever heard of from this site (except the possibility of legalising cat hunting...) Wonder who came up with the idea to make a flag for a religion?

A Finn is probably not a finn, but is most likely a lefty troll. However, just in case he is a finn, where does he get off telling us what our traditions should be?

And now A Finn awswers his own questions. I believe Greg may have been reincarnated, if I believed in that crap.

When did I tell you to change traditions?

It's just a flag finn not the KGB. I agree kids might pick on him that why he has choices. Public school, private school, home school are just a few.

No, A Finn, I just had a bad day and you were the unlucky one. I do apoligize, but surely you know what a Christian flag is. They have been around for about 2000 years, give or take a few.

Comoon, Joe, you can do it. I believe in you. Just 7 little words... Lucky number, that's a good omen. What do you say? I'll give you 5 more minutes to think about it. This is a once in a monthtime opportunity. Carpe diem.

Darn.... are you sure? What if fiery monkeys rain from the sky and the oceans turn into liver oil because of your decision?
Posted by: A Finn at September 14, 2005 04:16 PM (lGolT)
27
Oh well. Liver oil is full of b complex vitamins.
Posted by: Howie at September 14, 2005 04:35 PM (D3+20)

Fiery monkeys could be a substitute for skeets.
Posted by: Howie at September 14, 2005 04:37 PM (D3+20)

Howie, I do need to practice up on my skeet shooting. And that case of shotgun shells I've been saving for duck season would work on fiery monkeys, don't you think?
Posted by: jesusland joe at September 14, 2005 04:48 PM (q9AWQ)

Oh yeah I don't think a heavy load would be needed. ^ or * shot would take em down. But try a couple heavy shells anyway see if ya can explode em.

Darn, I sprung for #4's. But the good news is that it is steel shot and won't pollute the liver oil. That way you can ramp up on the B vitamins without having to worry about lead poisoning.

Ya know, I'm officially an atheist, (non-practicing), but I'm an American patriot first, and I think using the word "God" as an excuse to strike down the pledge's Constitutionality is just a bunch of damned communist BS. Liberals must all be exterminated like the vermin they are or they will destroy our nation.

"one nation under Yahweh"
"one nation under Jehovah"
"one nation under Gaea"
"one nation under Allah"
Would our pledge be the same if it were written with any of the above substitutions? Would your opinion/comments about this ruling be any different?

I got to thinking about Finns worry that other kids will pick on thekid. Of course but kids pick on kids for any number of reasons. Too rich too poor too smart too dumb too ugly so on and so forth. Kids are cruel. I guess I liken it to raising a batch of quail. If one feather is out of place or just one little tiny difference. Heck I can't ever see it but the quail can. They will start packing his ass relentlessly until he is dead. It's natural. Take away this issue and I'm sure the kids will find another reason to pick on each other. It's just normal not pretty at all but normal. We all have our challenges. I got picked on for making too many A grades.
