Cynthia McKinney: Why She Punched That Pesky Cop

Cynthia McKinney (D-GA) allegedly assaulted an officer of the law earlier today, when he failed to recognize her as she rushed past a metal detector. While members of Congress are not required to go through the Capitol metal detectors, they are supposed to present their credentials. McKinney was in too big a hurry to be bothered complying with one of the people who help ensure her safety. According to witnesses, she hit him in the chest with her cell phone. more...

Harry Reid, Nancy Pelosi to Personally Liquidate Osama

From the Associated Press:

WASHINGTON - Congressional Democrats promise to "eliminate" Osama bin Laden and ensure a "responsible redeployment of U.S. forces" from Iraq in 2006 in an election-year national security policy statement.
Please pardon my skepticism, but this comes from a political party that represents those who pretty much agree with Osama bin Laden.

Charlie Sheen: CIA, Jews, Space Aliens Caused 9/11

charlie_sheen_tin_foil.jpg

Via Michelle.

The best thing about this article is that it claims Sheen is a "prominent credible" whistleblower. Charlie Sheen is prominent? Charlie Sheen is credible? Charlie Sheen is a whistleblower?

Charlie. Sheen. Prominent. Credible. Whistleblower.

I need to let that one sink in for a bit.

How Much Would the Dems Sacrifice to Regain Power?

Democratic party apparatchiks and their co-conspirators in the mainstream media seem to have placed their hopes for the midterm elections on the perception of American defeat in Iraq. With the economy humming, the Dubai Ports World deal a fading memory, and television viewers nationwide suffering from Katrina fatigue syndrome, the Democratic Party is left to focus on the Global War on Terror, and to downplay the progress made since 9/11.

Thus, we get the recent relentless drumbeat of negative network reporting from hotel balconies all over the Baghdad Green Zone, with the barely concealed hope that civil war will break out soon.

But how much damage is the Left willing to inflict on the United States in order to start winning elections? more...

Does the ACLU Love Terrorists?

Or do they simply hate America? It's kind of hard to tell sometimes. Now the ACLU is asking the United Nations to hold the U.S. accountable for [insert whiney reason here]. Wait, aren't these guys supposed to be upholding the U.S. Constitution? As I force all of my students to memorize, it starts this way: We the people of the United States.... I don't seem to recall anything in the Constitution about the U.N., the international community, or international law.

Stop the ACLU has more.

Scroll all the way down and laugh as great conversations erupt as to whether or not Asimov's "laws" are truly laws, or simply fiction, or whether or not these machines are true robots or not.

Reminds of something, but I just can't place it.

The Clooney-Huffington Affair

Oh no! Arianna's caught in a web of lies. Oh, the humanity! From the LA Times:

Oscar winner George Clooney may make politically provocative films like "Syriana." But he doesn't write politically provocative blogs.

So imagine his ire when Arianna Huffington used some of his recent answers to political questions in a way that makes it look as if he wrote one for her Huffington Post blog site.

The Huffmeister puts it off to a misunderstanding between her and Clooney's publicist.

Clooney's statement:

"Miss Huffington's blog is purposefully misleading and I have asked her to clarify the facts. I stand by my statements but I did not write this blog. With my permission Miss Huffington compiled it from interviews with Larry King and The Guardian. What she most certainly did not get my permission to do is to combine only my answers in a blog that misleads the reader into thinking that I wrote this piece. These are not my writings — they are answers to questions and there is a huge difference."
Yes, The Dread Pundit Bluto was taken in by the devious Huffintoness as well! Oh no! Looks like Huffy pulled George's "blog". What a shame. The fawning "Oh, Mr. Clooney..." comments were priceless.

Relocating To France Is Still An Option

The DUmmy spaketh:

Americans are among the stupidest people in the world.

And politicians of both parties know it. Democrat politicians regret this, bitch about it, and do everything they can to change it. Republican politicians love this reality, exploit it, and do everything they can to keep it that way.

It's difficult to place the blame in any one place. The MSM is part of the problem. The Republican propaganda machine keeps the ball rolling. The Republican religious faction actually believe they're "doing the Lord's work," and the good ole' standby of waving the flag and appealing to blind patriotism works wonders.

Most Democrats/Liberals, on the other hand, believe in the basic goodness of mankind, the things that are written in the Constitution and the Bill of Rights, and that if people could just see the truth, they'd throw the criminals out.

As a Democrat and a liberal, I agree with them. So given the insanity that the American public has allowed to go on for the past five years, I guess I'm as ineffective as any Democrat politician out there.

The journalist H.L. Mencken said, "No one ever went broke underestimating the intelligence of the American people" and he's been proved right time and again.

So what, if anything, are we going to do about it?

Move to France? That bastion of liberty China? How about Cuba and their awesome healthcare system?

Then again, there's always this solution.

Stein hoist: Jheka in the LGF comments. Which reminds me, I owe Taqiyyotomist a stein hoist for the MEMRI link in this post.

In the Presence of Moonbats

In his inaugural post, Sig94, retired cop (Signal 94 means "end of shift") relates his experiences sitting high in the Moonbat Gallery during Ann Coulter's recent appearance at Syracuse University:

My favorite Q&A response was the person who complained that because George Bush cut student loan allocations by $12 billion that “my interest rates for loans will rise to 6.8%. What is your response to this?!?!”

Ms. Coulter’s reply: “That’s because there are far too many of you who really don’t belong in college.”

Up until then I had remained silent. Now I laughed my ass off. I made sure it was a deep, sustained, bellowing guffaw. The moonbats all around me didnÂ’t say a word. And because they are moonbats they didn't understand the implied concept of supply and demand. Priceless, simply priceless.

I had the pleasure of dining with Sig94 yesterday, arranged by Cookie from The Cookshack - Gab & Grub. Go read the rest.

Hillary: Enforcing Law Equals 'Police State'

I'm not sure who Hillary thinks she's fooling with this one. From boston.com news:

WASHINGTON --Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton, a potential White House candidate in 2008, said Wednesday some Republicans are trying to create a "police state" to round up illegal immigrants.

Speaking at a rally of Irish immigrants, Clinton criticized a bill the House passed in December that would impose harsher penalties for undocumented workers.

"Don't turn your backs on what made this country great," she said, calling the measure "a rebuke to what America stands for."

Clinton said it would be "an unworkable scheme to try to deport 11 million people, which you have to have a police state to try to do."

Illegal immigration made this country great? How so? And of course, if we do as Hillary says, and surrender to the flood of illegals, how long before the Democrat party begins registering those 11 million to vote?

And They Call Us Bigots?

What a dumbass.

So - the 82nd Airborne needs a guy to sell pencils in Iraq now? After the war is over he can get a job as a greeter at Wal-Mart. Trailer-people can come in and rub his stub for good luck on their way to the dog track.

Nothing for me to add, except this:

Picture 925.gif

Update: And on a related note, Cindy Sheehan's son lies in an unmarked grave.

Update Too: LA drops a turd in his own comments:

I was mildly surprised that almost nobody understood what I perceived to be the gross absurdity of the situation: a bunch of fucking war cheerleaders crying about a nasty prank card some asshole sent to this poor kid whose leg has been vaporized and THEN weÂ’re going to clap our hands and pretend that everything is OK because heÂ’s going to go back to work for the 82nd. Way to cleanse yourself of sin, wingnuts. ItÂ’s such a brave and inspirational story! Is it? Or is it a devastating tragedy?

What a perfect display of leftist thought. The Leftard Avenger is trying to backpedal from his original display of glorious stupidity.

But even his own readers aren't buying it:

Jesus, LA and sgo. Stop it. Just stop it. Your attempts at shock and awe are wearing a little thin. ThatÂ’s right - shock and awe. Are you proud of this? I hope not.

The man made a sacrifice for his country. An extreme sacrifice. You may (as I do) question his motives for doing so, but he made the sacrifice nonetheless. He bought the NaziconÂ’s sale of goods, and he paid for it. Big time. Is this a reason to ridicule his sacrifice? I donÂ’t think so. I think he did what he thought was right, and he got his ass kicked for it.

So stop ridiculing this poor bastard to make your point. YouÂ’re really not doing the cause any favors. I donÂ’t think the fact that this poor son of a bitch bought the company line makes him fair game for our derision.

And thatÂ’s what youÂ’re doing, boys. You may think that youÂ’re making a political point, but youÂ’re not. What youÂ’re really doing is belittling another americanÂ’s sacrifice to further your own agenda. Exactly what you blame the other side for doing.

So knock it off. Just grow up and knock it off.

I love Leftist cannabilism.

Final update: Ayup, he yanked the post. And then he does a mea culpa, which I'll not link to, comparing PFC Sparling to Max Cleland. Sorry, chuckles, it doesn't fly.

GOP, White House Reach Agreement on Intercepts

From the New York Times:

WASHINGTON, March 7 — Moving to tamp down Democratic calls for an investigation of the administration's domestic eavesdropping program, Republicans on the Senate Intelligence Committee said Tuesday that they had reached agreement with the White House on proposed bills to impose new oversight but allow wiretapping without warrants for up to 45 days.
This is the Times supposedly in "news" mode, but you'll notice that they refer to "domestic eavesdropping", even though that's not really the truth - all of these calls and emails have either a destination or an origin outside of the United States. The Gray Lady also insists on calling the intercepts "wiretapping", which is the equivalent of calling a Ferrari Testarossa a "horseless carriage".

Here's the reason this accord is big news [emphasis added]:

The agreement, hashed out in weeks of negotiations between Vice President Dick Cheney and Republicans critical of the program, dashes Democratic hopes of starting a full committee investigation because the proposal won the support of Senators Chuck Hagel of Nebraska and Olympia J. Snowe of Maine. The two, both Republicans, had threatened to support a fuller inquiry if the White House did not disclose more about the program to Congress.
Of course there will be a thorough investigation into just who betrayed his or her country by leaking details of the intercept program to the New York Times.

When Terrorism Isn't Terrorism

From the Washington Post:

CHAPEL HILL, N.C., March 6 -- A University of North Carolina graduate from Iran, accused of running down nine people on campus to avenge the treatment of Muslims, said at a hearing Monday that he was "thankful for the opportunity to spread the will of Allah."
Okay, this guy rents an SUV for the express purpose of attacking UNC students to make a statement about the treatment of Muslims. He deliberately drives onto a campus area open only to foot traffic and hits nine of them, and only random chance prevents death or serious injury to anyone. Attacking innocent people to generate fear. This is the very definition of terrorism. more...
