Does this sound like a civil liberties group to you?
Well, if the Democratic party, led by a former Klansman, a drunken womanizer, and the blueblooded ultra-rich, can represent minorities, women, and the poor, then sure, why not?

Your first link is broken...
Even so, it doesn't sound like a civil liberties group given that particular stance...

A circle-jerk by any other name. It does keep them off the streets though.
TheRE are more important events going on around the world - its best to let the lil' ones play with their meaningless lil' circuses and performance art.
Remember - they don't want to actually achieve anything - they want to upset you.
Don't be! Just smile, and say, "their they go again!"
TRUST ME! THEY HATE THAT MORE THAN ANTHING ELSE IN THE WORLD!

Can anyone name civil or legal rights groups that have earned respect?

Nope, Dale, can't think of a single one.

There is a trend in America today that an accused person must be deemed worthy of a legal defense. Without that public worthiness, the person, or the legal organization, that defends that person is derided and ridiculed and sometimes declared to be unAmerican. An organization that defends the principles or the spirit of the Bill of Rights is attacked for defending the principles this country was founded upon.
Is Rush Limbaugh entitled to keep his doctor shopping private? Is the organization who agrees with Rush's privacy unAmerican? Is it right for Rush and his doctors to be pursued by the local prosecuting AG as he goes fishing for evidence of the crime because of a whistleblower who worked for Rush?
Perhaps the reason that no one can cite a positive example of a legal or civil rights group is that their clients are deemed unworthy.
I don't have any answers but maybe someone else can cite organizations that are responsible and admired for their legal and civil rights activities.

Hmm...ok, I'll bite. The organization I like the best is the National Rifle Association. It is well-organized, very effective, friendly and communicative with its members, fights for the legal rights of gun owners, and intervenes for all citizens in places like NO where law-abiding people in their own homes had their firearms ILLEGALLY confiscated by law enforcement officers from other jurisdictions.
