Sami Al-Arian Pleads Guilty

University of South Florida professor Sami al-Arian, who became a cause célèbre to the ACLU crowd, has admitted to being involved with Palestinian Islamic Jihad (the group responsible for this outrage), and, as a bonus, turned snitch on his co-defendants.

From Yahoo! News:

WASHINGTON, April 17 /U.S. Newswire/ -- Former University of South Florida Professor Sami Al-Arian has pleaded guilty to a charge of conspiring to provide services to the Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ), a specially designated terrorist organization, in violation of U.S. law, the Department of Justice announced today.

In the plea agreement, Al-Arian admits that he was associated with several organizations, including the Palestinian Islamic Jihad, in the late 1980s and early to mid-1990s. He also admits that co-defendants Ramadan Abdullah Shallah, Bashir Musa Mohammed Nafi and Mazen Al-Najjar were associated with PIJ.

Al-Arian's agreement with the government calls for a recommended prison sentence of 46 to 57 months in prison, based on a five-year maximum statutory sentence. Al-Arian, 48, who has been in custody since his arrest on Feb. 20, 2003, has agreed to stipulate to deportation to another country by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement once his prison sentence has ended. Al- Arian has lived in this country for approximately 30 years.

This bastard should be deported to Hell.

3 VHzNzv, you should channel that anger by learning some proper hacking skills instead of this piddly spamming.

4 Looks like the "Waaaaaa!" factor has been on the rise lately from the looks of all the spam here. I always enjoy analyzing the psychology of spammers like these. I hope they equally enjoy being the equilvalent of a bug stuckthrough by a pin under a microscope....because that's what they've effectively become. cheers.

5 Another chance to show off my primary school math skills. Al-Arian has been in jail for 38 months. So without any time off for good behavior he is looking at another perhaps 9 months. With time off for good behavior he will be out in less, perhaps another 2 months. This is looking like "if you say you are guilty we will let you out of jail" type of plea.

7 Let's hope he doesn't get time served and his sentence commences on his day of sentencing.

8 john Ryan, is that why he rolled over on his buddies? Not a very good deal, he gets on the jihadi hit list for squealing, plus he gets deported. Another sad day for the Left.

9 >>>Another sad day for the Left. Lol! Yup. So sad though that the Left's hatred of "Bush" and Israel has pushed them into the bed of jihadists. On the day the Right declares war on Hell, guess whose side the Left will take.

10 Ol' Sami was pretty arrogant early on. I saw him interviewed a couple years ago when he was first outted. I think it was the Fox News guy who was trying to put the screws to him. Sami was blathering about his "rights" and how he wasn't worried about being caught supporting terrorism. He was basically laughing it off. I guess he changed his fckin tune, huh?
