British Terror Sweep

These are my notes on today's sweep for the suspects in the July 21 failed terror bombings. All four prime suspects are believed to now be in custody. Of note is that police believe there may be a fifth bomber because a fifth device was found in a rucksack dumped on open ground at Little Wormwood Scrubs.

Here's a brief status of the investigation:

- SWAT teams in dramatic raids at several W. London locations with no reports of shots fired

- Muktar Said Ibrahim, 27, arrested today in London for attempting to blow up the Number 26 bus in Shoreditch

- Ramsi Mohammed (possible alias) arrested today in London for attempting to bomb Tube near Oval

- Hussain Osman (aka Osman Hussain), 27, Somali-born naturalized Brit, was arrested today in Rome for attempting to bomb Tube at Shepherd's Bush

- Yasin Hassan Omar, 24, arrested in Birmingham last week for attempting to bomb Tube near Warren St.

- Two unnamed women were pinned to the ground and arrested today at Liverpool Street Station in London. Both were described as dark-skinned, 20-ish, Muslims with full headscarves. One woman ran when police asked to see inside the bag she carried.

- Total terror suspects currently in custody at 20.

The MSM War On Christians 'And America' - They've Gone 'Off The Charts' In Bias (Updated)

First off, the issue here isn't about Christians, as much as what's become a tool of the MSM to propagate liberal views and liberal appeasement of Islamists, to the detriment of the continued existence of the American way of life. And of course it's not just against Christians, but our very civilization, it's just that Christians have become the MSM's favorite target as the so-called professional journalists do their utmost to facilitate the Islamization of America! Silence the Christians (the Sunday people) and the door is open for sharia and fullfilment of Islam's "Twenty year plan for America. "

As with most Christian Americans, I just can't help but notice the ongoing American press' love of Islam and it's embracement of everything anti-American and anti-military while allowing and promoting every deceitful feint of Islamic leaders to hide their true agenda - world domination and turning the White House into the Muslim House.

Today, an AP/CBS image in their hyped-up, dhimmi-article (which many Americans will get suckered into believing), "Muslim Scholars Condemn Terror," the AP and CBS made it over the top, insulting every American that ever fought(and those that are continuing to fight) for his/her country, and every American citizen that believes in freedom, tolerance, and our way of life.

crescent&stripes.jpeg.jpg
[AP/CBS image - A 'Crescent and Stripes']

My very first thought when I saw the above treasonous image, what Clarity and Resolve refers to as the "new and improved Islamic American flag (with optional prostrated Muslim everyman in Western attire and Kufi skull cap), courtesy of al-Sociated Press/CBS," were the words, "FROM MY COLD DEAD HANDS." (notice the Muslim encouragement of repealing our right to bear arms so we're defenseless should they feel the need for their jihad to turn violent or so their terrorists don't have John Q to deal with)

The AP and CBS, the so-called professional journalists, really got suckered into this fatwah thing, a fatwa issued by none other than the Fiqh Council of North America, headed by Muzammil Siddiqi, past-president of the Islamic Society of North America. As it's head, Siddiqi has advised American Muslims to participate in the political system - BUT ONLY IN ORDER TO CHANGE AMERICA INTO A MUSLIM COUNTRY... AND WE MUST NOT FORGET THAT ALLAH'S RULES HAVE TO BE ESTABLISHED IN ALL LANDS, AND ALL OUR EFFORTS SHOULD LEAD TO THAT DIRECTION (Infiltration, p 21., Nelson Current 2005). [much more to come on this and al-taqiyya in future posts]

Aside from the 'professionals' getting suckered, which I took no pleasure in, seeing the AP/CBS image symbolizing the defeat of America by Islamofascism, invoked a deep sense of disqust, and made me think of two images of my own that represent the exact opposite of what the AP and CBS have in mind for America:

flag400.gif

For the benefit of the AP and CBS, THE ABOVE IMAGE IS THE TRUE AMERICAN FLAG - AND THERE IS NO MUSLIM ON IT AND THERE IS NO CRESENT WHERE OUR STATES ARE SYMBOLIZED.

As the AP/CBS image appears in print and online - the guys in the below image, and thousands like them, are fighting for the right and freedom of the AP, CBS, and the rest of the Islamofascist-supporting, Islamist-appeasing, ostrich-imitating American press to continue helping our enemy, the moderate-pretending Muslims and the Islamist agenda, to throw sand in our eye as they continue, with the help of the MSM, their ongoing culture and publicity war supporting the Islamication of our country, to the detriment of the religious freedoms of non-Muslims everywhere:

ScrappynStalker.jpg

In the above image, two of our very special troops doing a very special job are risking their lives multiple time a day (I know this for a fact because I speak to the guy on the right with the rifle - several times a week), to bring a halt to the spread of Islamofascism around the world - while the likes of the AP, CBS, and the rest of the liberal MSM continue their own special assault against the very foundations upon which our nation was built. more...

Is Somalia The Next Afghanistan?

As the MSM continues to be focused on Iraq, Afghanistan, Pakistan and the Middle East, the Brussels-based International Crisis Group (ICG) has warned that the West should begin paying more attention to Somalia because this East African country, torn apart by rival warlords and tribal gangs, provides a logistic center for al-Qaeda.

The warning was contained in a recently published research report entitled "Counter-terrorism in Somalia, Are we loosing hearts and minds?", edited by Suliman Baldo, the ICG's Africa programme director:

"Away from the spotlight, a quiet, dirty conflict is being waged in Somalia." writes Baldo in the introduction. "In the rubble-strewn streets of the ruined capital of this state without a government, Mogadishu, al-Qaeda operatives, jihad extremists, Ethiopian security services and Western-backed counter-terrorism networks are engaged in a shadowy and complex contest waged by intimidation, abduction and assassination." The United States "has had some success but now risks evoking a backlash." It is not surprising: after the huge failure of the international peace efforts carried out between 1992-1995, Somalia still finds itself in total chaos, despite an October 2004 agreement reached to establish a transitional federal government.
As to the failure of the international peace efforts, who can forget it's facilitation, courtesy of the Clinton Administration's hasty withdrawal of all American troops from that country, virtually surrendering the plight of the starving Somalians to al Qaeda strongman Ali Mahdi Mohammed.

You may recall that on Dec. 12, 1992, about five weeks before the expiration of his term as President of the United States, George H.W. Bush launched Operation Restore Hope and committed the Clinton Administration and 26.000 American troops to a humanitarian effort in Somalia. Twenty other nations committed 13,000 troops to provide both food supplies and security to war-torn Somalia. Gen. Mohammed Farah Aideed, whose rebels controlled most of the beleaguered nation, welcomed the relief effort, believing he would be able to successfully exploit the Americans into helping him defeat his arch rival, the al Qaeda-backed warlord Ali Mahdi Mohammed who controlled the city of Mogadishu. When Clinton took office, his Defense Secretary, former Wisconsin Congressman Les Aspin, cut the UNOSOM-2 force to 4,000 regular Army troops(3000 of which were support troops, NOT combat troops) and 400 Army Rangers. Earlier, in September, 1993 Gen. Colin Powell, Bush-41's carryover Chairman of the Joint Chiefs, asked Aspin to let him beef up the weakened American forces in Somalia with tanks and armored vehicles.

Aspin declined Powell's request, and we all know what followed. There was no military response to the resulting humiliation, and there was no resolve to see the new mission goals to fruition. The only remaining superpower in the world withdrew from Mogadishu with a whimper, and left like a beat dog. Hopefully, we have since learned the lessons and repercussions of such a 'cut and run' decision - now, we have the potential of having to go back and finish the job Clinton ran from. Our friends on the left calling for a hasty retreat from Iraq should heed well the lessons of Somalia, and strongly consider what's happening now in Somalia, and it's contribution to worldwide terrorism. more...

London Al-Qaeda Bombing Cell - Collapse or Deeper Pit?

Captain's Quarters writes in his "Further Collapse Of AQ Bombing Cell," that British investigators have now added nine more people to the list of those arrested after the botched bombings of July 21, where all four bombs failed to detonate properly and left a treasure trove of evidence for police. Police confirm that they have arrested 20 suspects, including one of the erstwhile bombers.

As offered by Captain Ed in his post, the investigation has occured with great speed and effectiveness. However, the deeper investigators delve into the nests of the terrorist underground the deeper and wider the pit appears and the more we realize just how far amuck a captured religion has departed from reality. It's now obvious that the London cell(s) are extensive and that participants, collaborators, and supporters are literally spread out across the globe, with suspects having fanned out beyond Britain to Morocco, Pakistan, Zambia, with connections to all the way to Oregon in the U.S, Egypt, and elsewhere. This as India is reporting that terror camps are being revived in Pakistan. And this is only a small part of an incredible series of connections that have continued to exist since prior to August 2004 between the remote and harsh border regions between Pakistan and Afghanistan, the burning land of Iraq, and Europe, and particular France, Spain, Italy, and Great Britain. Networks such as these don't collapse over a few weeks of investigations and arrests of low level ground troops that are expendible - after all, that's their job, to expend themselves while killing as many other people as possible.

And while terrorists have been 'nesting' all over Britain and the rest of Europe, the EU is just now waking up to the idea that gee, they ought to stop the funding of terrorists!

For a possible remedy for all of this madness, and an approach to truly collapsing al-Qaeda and the Islamic terrorist-conducted war on civilization, Efraim Halevi's "Rules Of Conflict For A World War" are begining to make more sense:

Efraim Halevi (Jerusalem Post) The multiple, simultaneous explosions that took place on the London transportation system were the work of perpetrators who had an operational capacity of considerable scope. There was careful planning, intelligence gathering, and a sophisticated choice of timing as well as near-perfect execution. We are faced with a deadly and determined adversary who will stop at nothing and will persevere as long as he exists as a fighting terrorist force. We are in the throes of a world war, raging over the entire globe. We are in for the long haul and we must brace ourselves for more that will follow.

The executives must be empowered to act resolutely and to take every measure necessary to protect the citizens of their country and to carry the combat into whatever territory the perpetrators and their temporal and spiritual leaders are inhabiting. The rules of combat must be rapidly adjusted and international law must be rewritten to permit civilization to defend itself. There is no doubt that international cooperation is essential. Yet this cannot replace the requirement that each and every country effectively declare itself at war with international Islamist terror and recruit the public to involve itself actively in the battle.

Efraim Halevi, who heads the Center for Strategic and Policy Studies at the Hebrew University in Jerusalem, is a former head of the Mossad.

Reason 5,239 Why Terrorism Cases Should Be Tried Militarily

The man arrested for his involvement in the "Millenium Plot" has been sentenced today for a whopping 22 years. Twenty-two years?

SEATTLE (AP) — An Algerian [Ahmed Ressam] who plotted to bomb the Los Angeles airport on the eve of the millennium was sentenced to 22 years in prison Wednesday by a judge who used the opportunity to sternly criticize the Bush administration's anti-terrorism tactics.

"We did not need to use a secret military tribunal, detain the defendant indefinitely as an enemy combatant or deny the defendant the right to counsel," U.S. District Judge John C. Coughenour said. "The message to the world from today's sentencing is that our courts have not abandoned our commitment to the ideals that set our nation apart."

Wrong! A man who attempted to kill hundreds of Americans gets sentenced to twenty-two years in prison is an outrage. Not only was this case blown in terms of an inadequate sentence, a connected case in England and one in Germany will not be able to proceed without the testimony afforded. If this had been a military tribunal, there may have been a way to provide testimony to these other two cases.

When taken into context of another case which wrapped up this past month, that of Islamic cleric al-Timimi out of Virginia was sentenced to life in prison for encouraging jihadis to fight U.S. soldiers in Afghanistan, this is a slap on the wrist. Ressam intended on setting off explosives, found in his trunk by an alert Border Patrol agent, at LAX which again would have killed hundreds of U.S. citizens. This plot is believed to be connected to Al Qaida, so now we've sentenced an Al Qaida henchman who has tried to kill U.S. citizens to 22 years in prison. Good job.

In other terrorism-related jurisprudence, a man believed to be connected to the brutal killing and decapitation of Wall Street Journal reporter Daniel Pearl was found and arrested in Pakistan.

That Pesky Finsbury Park Mosque - Another Day, Another Terrorist Recruited!

Arthur Chrenkoff posts today on what he calls. "A fascinating glimpse on the authorities' search for the common intersection in the otherwise diverse lives of the eight London bombers," and reminds us that the same pesky Finsbury Park mosque with the hate-spewing mouthy imam was "also the launching pad for the "shoe bomber" Richard Reid and the "19th hijacker" Zacarias Moussaoui."

Although Arthur finds it "amazing how much trouble can come out of one place - and by extension, what a timely action of the type only contemplated now against those inciting jihad (such as deportation) could have possibly achieved to prevent the current troubles," I find it to be more an example of too little, too late. It's a weakly punative action following too much hate and violence that's been allowed to be taught to Muslim youth from mosque pulpits by Islamist clerics, for far too long.

On the other hand, few can disagree with Arthur's observation that "we shouldn't think there are easy solutions," because there aren't any. Yet, we have to start somewhere, sometime, doing what is necessary to end the insanity of Islamofascism and the mindset and actions of those that tolerate, support it, and facilitate it. As Arthur writes in his closing, "It's going to be a long, long conflict."

Just how long and how costly in terms of innocent lives lost and dollars spent on terrorism that could be much better placed on making our lives healthier, more comfortable, and more useful, may very well depend upon our immediate recognition of our enemy's agenda, our collective(as a civilization) willingness to speak and act as one voice against Islamofascism and all it's tenets and acts, and on the speed and actions taken to stop the madness of the Islamist's agenda to "establish a world dominated by Muslims, Islam, and Islamic law, the Shari'a. Or, "to cite the Daily Telegraph, their "real project is the extension of the Islamic territory across the globe, and the establishment of a worldwide ‘caliphate' founded on Shari'a law."""

That agenda must be stopped dead in it's tracks!

As Mark Steyn has said, "Terrorism itself will end only when the broader culture refuses to tolerate it. There would be few if any suicide bombers in the Middle East if "martyrdom" wasn't glorified by imams and politicians, if pictures of local "martyrs" were not proudly displayed in West Bank grocery stores, if Muslim banks did not offer special "martyrdom" accounts to the relicts thereof, if schools did not run essay competitions on "Why I want to grow up to be a martyr."" To which I add, "and when we in the West stop tolerating such crap!"

Yet, on the matter of "tolerating the madness of that broader culture, the culture of Islam," aren't many in the West just as guilty when we look the other way or offer excuses and pretend that gee, it's just a few extremists and if only the moderate Muslims will speak up?

Even if truly moderate Muslims exist, which some doubt, again, borrowing from Mark Stein, "Why are we surprised that "Muslim moderates" rarely speak out against the evil committed by their co-religionists when the likes of Mr Paddick keep assuring us there's no problem? It requires great courage to be a dissenting Muslim in communities dominated by heavy-handed imams and lobby groups that function effectively as thought-police.""

It's true that the vast majority of Muslims are not terrorists, or involved in terrorism, and this needs to be said strongly if people assert otherwise. But if the Metropolitan Police really believe what Brian Paddick says, if they really, truly think that the words "Islam" and "terrorism" must not be linked, then we have little hope of catching the killers, of understanding how the terrorism works, or of preventing new atrocities.

If you substituted the phrase, "politicians and apologists for Islam," for "Metropolitan Police" in the above paragraph, you'd be reading a statement that is 'right-on' target. Let's leave the issue of contribution to terrorism for just a moment to digress to the terrorism conducted by the IRA: more...

Jawa Report To Terrorist Supporters: "You're Fired!"

Call me Donald Trump. Ok, not me exactly, but call loyal reader, Filthy Allah, Donald Trump. Thanks to his efforts, a British jihadi named Wasim Majid got fired.

On June 9th we posted some e-mail addresses from an al Qaeda support group masquerading as an X-Box bulletin board asking you, the readers, to e-mail these sons-of-bitches. To our surprise, one of the terrorist-loving assholes responded to quite a few readers.

It turns out he was British. Oh, and he worked for an immigration law-firm. Just the kind of person the Brits want working at an immigration law-firm: a jihadi or jihadi supporter.

Who knows, this piece of filth may have used his position to help other terrorist supporters into the U.K.? Pretty scary to think that pro-terrorist forces might become immigration lawyers and use their positions to bring more terrorists into Western countries.

Filthy Allah decided to contact the man's employer about the e-mail exchange he had with him. Long story short, just a few weeks after 7/7 the British law-firm has done the decent thing and fired Wasim Majid.

See ya, wouldn't want to be ya!

Note to British authorities: Now that Wasim is sans job, it might be in your best interests to keep an eye on the guy. Unemployment often gives rise to suicidal tendencies. Call me crazy, but the thought of a suicidal al Qaeda supporter wandering the streets of London makes me worry. Just a little.

UPDATE: And thanks to Jawa guest-poster The Dread Pundit Bluto, a jihadi journalist may have been fired! more...

Always a bridesmaid, never a bride: Rusty almost gets a fatwa

Here's a reader comment from 'Malik' who writes from the exclusive area of Marina Del Rey, California. Scary thought that a jihadi or one of their supporters is a) American b) rich. Notice that he identifies America as YOU although he posts from an exclusive area of the California coast and writes like a native.

America it's time for you to be oblieterated just the way the all-mighty Romans were by the Barbarian hordes. See, they never thought they were vulnerable. They thought they had everyone standing at their doorstep well below. How ironic that history repeats itself...hmmm....
Wouldn't it be equally ironic if a) history did repeat itself b) you correctly analogize the U.S. to Rome c) but you fail to see the Islamic world for what it is: Carthage.

PS-Spent the day at my brother's house in Huntington Beach. Man, it's like 15 degrees cooler down there. Lucky bastard!

What Forces Abdullah to Murder People?

From the Associated Press

British Islamic leaders Wednesday called for a judicial inquiry into what motivated the bombers.

"The scale of disenchantment amongst Muslim youth is very clear to see," said Inayat Bungalwala of the Muslim Council of Britain.

"Various factors are at play: underachievement in education; a high rate of unemployment; discrimination in the workplace; social exclusion, and also the government's own policies, especially in Iraq. The process of how we get four homegrown suicide bombers must be understood and that is why we are calling for an inquiry."

That's a good question Mr. Bungalwala. Almost all of the factors you mentioned have been cited as problems for several American minorities, most notably blacks and hispanics. Oddly, however, we Yanks haven't developed any black or hispanic "homegrown" suicide bombers.

Hmmm...what could account for this discrepancy? Could it be...oh, I don't know....ISLAM?

Seriously, Mr. Bungalwala, if you want to be seen as contributing to the solution, rather than exacerbating the problem, you need to encourage your fellow Muslims to actively expose the monsters hiding within your community.

Report: British Allowed Terrorists to Operate Freely Within UK

A new report from Chatham House (The Royal Institute of International Affairs) bluntly accuses British intelligence and counter-terrorist organizations of knowingly allowing Middle Eastern terrorist groups to operate freely within the United Kingdom. It directly contradicts statements made earlier by Lord Chancellor Charles Falconer and characterizes the UK as a base for international terrorism:

By the mid-1990s the UK's intelligence agencies and the police were well aware that London was increasingly being used as a base by individuals involved in promoting, funding and planning terrorism in the Middle East and elsewhere. However, these individuals were not viewed as a threat to the UK's national security, and so they were left to continue their activities with relative impunity, a policy which caused much anger among the foreign governments concerned. As a result of giving lower priority to international terrorism, the British authorities did not fully appreciate the threat from Al-Qaeda. The failure to gain any warning from existing information of the 9/11 attacks on the United States was an intelligence failure of the entire Western alliance, not only of the US intelligence community.
In other words, the report implies that the British were derelict in their duty by allowing radical Islamists within the UK to incite and organize violence against the West.

Annoy A Terrorist

Armies of Liberation.

What an apt name. Over and over again, Jane Novak invades the nation of Yemen, not by force of arms, but with the power of 21st century instant communication.

Somewhere, Joan of Arc is smiling. So is the blog grandfather.

Despite what you've been told, the government of Yemen is no ally of the United States.

For whatever reason, the Yemeni government's duplicity has, aside from Jane's tireless efforts, so far managed to escape scrutiny by the world at large. It has to stop.

"Hey, bonehead, that's nice, how do we get to annoy the terrorist?"

Read this post from Jane.

Look for a comment by "Amin Al-Sharaabi." Call him names. Give him the verbal finger.

As an added bonus, he put his email in the comment.

And as I well know, Jawa readers love to email terrorists.

UpDaTe: greg, I said what I meant and I meant what I said.

uPdAtE II: I'm going with Dean on this one, if you have a blog, link and t/b to Jane's post. Let's give this a Technorati boost. And an ecosystem boost as well. The Yemeni government needs to be shown for the Islamotards that they are.

ETAdpu III: Apparently, the goat molesting little Islamotard wanna be jihadi's email is a dead one. Mine got returned. But keep those comments on Jane's post a-flowing.

Open Source Intelligence on London Bombing Suspect

So I was doing some research on Magdy Mahmoud Elnashar who was nabbed in Egypt today as a 7/7 suspect and I found his e-mail at Leeds University. Since he's now experiencing the pleasures of the Egyptian penal system and is no longer at Leeds University where he just earned his Ph. D. I figure I won't post it. I mean, he probably won't ever get to read it so what possible value could e-mailing the man who's apartment was used to construct the bomb that killed 52 innocents and mamed hundreds more?

Oh, right. There is that.

So, if you think there might be some theraputic value in e-mailing this son-of-a-bitch and telling him just what you think of him, here you go.

UPDATE: Try this e-mail address, instead: m.elnashar@chem.leeds.ac.uk

7/7 terrorist Dr. Magdy Mahmoud Mostafa Elnashar's e-mail address: bmbmmme@leeds.ac.uk

UPDATE: *sigh* e-mail is dead. Which is odd since most universities don't kick you off their e-mail systems until long after you graduated. But Dave's quip in the comments section may explain why his e-mail is down. It is currently being looked at by British intelligence.

I wonder if he still has voice-mail? Those take a little longer to change. Here is his telephone number if you're a Brit and this is local:

+44(0) 113 3433162

Here is a cached version of his bio.

Also, have you ever wanted to read a peer reviewed scientific paper published by a terrorist? Well, here's your chance to read Novel Matrix for Biocatalyst Production. You mean to say that terrorists might be as ordinary as the guy next door? They go to work, come home, and are generally good neighbors until the day they blow people up? They don't roam the streets yelling death to America all day long? I don't believe it.

Another Update: It looks like the terrorist in question was on a fellowship sponsored by the European Union. These kinds of fellowships are routinely given out to anybody that applies and meets the general qualifications--including foreigners. In fact, if the fellowship that Elnashar received was anything like fellowships in the US, his status as an Egyptian national would only help him--after all, diversity before all other considerations!

eu_development_fund.gif

So, all indications are that Elnashar was a good student who had received some amount of recognition at Leeds University. The only sign that he was a terrorist was that he enjoyed talking about his religion. Isn't that odd? A religious man becoming a terrorist?

Yet another update: Looks like Andrew Cochran knows how to do a Google search too.

Mike Pechar, a co-author here, makes this important point at his own blog:

It needs to be noted that Elnasher has been reported to be a chemistry student, a chemistry lecturer, a biochemistry researcher, and a chemistry professor. Right now, it's not really clear what he is, but it has something to do with chemistry.

What bothers me is the possibility that he is a biochemist. If so, and he's found to be a terrorist, there is the likelihood that he may have been working on biological weapons

Indeed.

Yet another update: Dread Pundit Bluto finds that the grant he recieved was worth about $60k.

College Professor Implicated in London Bombings; Fourth Bomber Jamaican (UPDATED)

[UPDATE 7/15--El Nashar arrested in Egypt]

Two more suspects identified in the London bombings. Add visas given to Middle Eastern professors and graduate students to my list of immigration reforms. One of the suspects is a college instructor, Magdi El-Nashar from Egypt. [UPDATE: Suspect also went to graduate school at North Carolina State. Scroll down for info...] Also, co-author Mike Pechar reveals the identity of London's fourth mass-murder--and he's Jamaican. This means he was not the son of Pakistani immigrants, as the other three were, and that he was a most probably a convert to Islam. I'm thinking a few puffs of the ganja would have been a good thing in this guys case. Never heard of a Rasta terrorist before......

Lindsey Germaine, Jamaican-born, lived in Buckinghamshire.

[UPDATE: He is not the mastermind, only a suspect] According to other sources. A chemistry instructor at Leeds University has been implicated as the possibe as the mastermind behind the 7/7 bombings, but the fact that the bomb-making materials were found in his apartment puts him squarely at the center of the conspiracy.] The way the article is written, it sounds as if he may have been a graduate student but I'm not sure how the British University system works exactly. The Sun:

A CHEMISTRY lecturer linked to the Leeds bomb factory was being hunted last night by cops trying to trace the mastermind of the 7/7 atrocity.

Egyptian Magdi El-Nashar, 33, rented a flat at 18 Alexandra Grove in the suburb of Burley.

The lecturer — also taking a PhD biochemistry course at Leeds University — vanished days before the London outrage.

He is thought to have returned to Egypt, where al-Qaeda have a strong base.

At least two of the suicide bombers who caused the carnage have been connected to the flat, 200 yards from Leeds Grand mosque.

Forensic experts were searching the house in which the flat stands yesterday — and are thought to have found explosives. Anti-terror cops are also trying to trace ANOTHER suspected prime mover of the London attacks.

This article from News.com.au says he PLANNED the attacks:
POLICE believe they have identified the man who planned the London bombings.

It has also emerged that one of his recruits - Edgware Road bomber Mohammed Sadique Khan - was a teaching assistant in a Leeds primary school.
The leader of the terrorist cell is believed to be in his 30s and of Pakistani origin. He arrived at a British port last month and is understood to have left the country the day before four suicide bombers murdered at least 53 people.

Security sources believe he has been involved in previous terrorist operations and has links with al-Qa'ida followers in the US. It is believed he visited the bombers in Leeds and identified targets. Security chiefs say he is also likely to have schooled his recruits on how to trigger their rucksack bombs almost simultaneously.

This smacks of Sami Al-Arian, the college professor from Florida currently on trial for terrorism related charges and Professor Ali al-Timimi of Virginia who is said to have been the ringleader of an international terrorist cell.

UPDATE: Tim at Opinion Bug and Confederate Yankee tell me that Magdy el-Nashar also studied at NCSU in Raleigh, NC. Do you think he dropped out because the local hotties at the Releigh Hooters offended him? Via Opinion Bug this from NBC-17:

An Egyptian-born academic being sought by London police as part of their investigation into last week's terrorist bombings spent a semester at North Carolina State University, school officials said Thursday.
Opinion Bug also has a CCTV photo of Hasib Hussain posted.

Another UPDATE: So, a college professor/grad student (haven't sorted that one out yet--any Brits care to help distinguish?) is at the center of the conspiracy to murder civilians and terrorize London--pretty bad. IT. GETS. WORSE. Malkin on freakin fire--Government funded youth center hub of jihadi activities, tie group together. Your tax dollars at work!

And yet another update: It looks like he was a graduate student who also lectured. Something I am all too familiar with. DC Examiner:

In a statement Thursday, Leeds University said el-Nashar enrolled in October 2000 to do biochemical research, sponsored by the National Research Center in Cairo, Egypt. It said he earned a doctorate May 6.

"We understand he was seeking a postdoctorate position in the U.K.," the university said. "His visa was updated by the Home Office earlier this year. He has not been seen on the campus since the beginning of July.

Arrest Made in London Bombings

Hat tip to Blogs of War for this. According to CNN British troops--yes, troops-- raided a home this morning in Leeds. The fact that troops were involved makes me suspect the Brits are finally taking the war against Islamic extremism with the proper attitude. Also note that it looks like the attrocities were carried out by homegrown suicide-mass-murderers.

BBC has more:

An arrest has been made in Yorkshire after the identity of the suspected London bus bomber led police to make a series of raids.

Security sources said the bus bomb suspect died in the blast but it is unclear if it was a suicide bombing.

They believe the four bombers were British born and all died in Thursday's bombings.

Police have carried out controlled explosions in Leeds and Luton and searched six houses.

BBC home affairs correspondent Margaret Gilmore said all four bombers were believed to have died in the blasts.

Meanwhile police in Leeds are looking for explosives and have already seized some material.

An unoccupied house in the Burley area of Leeds was one of six raided in Leeds after the attacks. Up to 600 people have been evacuated from the area....

Meanwhile in Luton the railway station has been closed and a cordon placed around an area that also covers the bus station and parts of Luton University campus.

Police said a car they believe may be connected to the London bombs has been found in the car park....

An anti-terrorist hotline for anyone who might have information for the police has been set up on 0800 789 321.

"Dirty Bombs for a Dirty Nation" (Apologies for the radioctive fallout)

Evan Kohlmann of the Counterterrorism blog e-mailed telling me he had done some interesting research on a suspect in the London bombings, Abu Musab al-Suri (a.ka. Mustafa Setmarian Nasari). It seems that al Suri has that whole "I wasn't involved in that act of terrorism, but I wish I had" thing act down to an art.

-He denies involvement in 9/11--but praises it and laments the fact.
-He denies involvement in the Madrid train bombings--but praises it and calls it a legitimate act of resistance.
-He denies working with serial infidel beheader Abu Musab al-Zarzawi--but prays for his safety.

But here's the money quote:

...It is not a far cry from justice to adopt the slogan, 'Dirty Bombs for a Dirty Nation [the U.S.]....Let the American people--those who voted for killing, destruction, the looting of other nation's wealth, megalomania, and the desire to control others--be contaminated with radiation! We apologize for the radioactive fallout."
Actually, it all makes perfect sense if you see the world through the Islamist paradigm bolstered by the lies told by the lies of the Leftist press. Read the rest to see what is on the mind of an Islamist extremist.

Al Qaeda Has Nukes in U.S.

Ok, the source for the story seems pretty iffy to me and the alarmist nature of the report seems way over the top, but I was a Boy Scout and was always taught to be prepared for the worst case scenario. If true, this would definitely qualify as worst case. Anyway, interesting reading when taken with the proper skepticism. WND:

According to captured al-Qaida leaders and documents, the plan is called the "American Hiroshima" and involves the multiple detonation of nuclear weapons already smuggled into the U.S. over the Mexican border with the help of the MS-13 street gang and other organized crime groups.

Al-Qaida has obtained at least 40 nuclear weapons from the former Soviet Union – including suitcase nukes, nuclear mines, artillery shells and even some missile warheads. In addition, documents captured in Afghanistan show al-Qaida had plans to assemble its own nuclear weapons with fissile material it purchased on the black market....

But the most disturbing news is that high level U.S. officials now believe at least some of those weapons have been smuggled into the U.S. for use in the near future in major cities as part of this "American Hiroshima" plan, according to an upcoming book, "The al-Qaida Connection: International Terrorism, Organized Crime and the Coming Apocalypse," by Paul L. Williams, a former FBI consultant.

According to Williams, former CIA Director George Tenet informed President Bush one month after the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks that at least two suitcase nukes had reached al-Qaida operatives in the U.S.

"Each suitcase weighed between 50 and 80 kilograms (approximately 110 to 176 pounds) and contained enough fissionable plutonium and uranium to produce an explosive yield in excess of two kilotons," wrote Williams. "One suitcase bore the serial number 9999 and the Russian manufacturing date of 1988. The design of the weapons, Tenet told the president, is simple. The plutonium and uranium are kept in separate compartments that are linked to a triggering mechanism that can be activated by a clock or a call from the cell phone."

According to the author, the news sent Bush "through the roof," prompting him to order his national security team to give nuclear terrorism priority over every other threat to America....

According to Williams' sources, thousands of al-Qaida sleeper agents have now been forward deployed into the U.S. to carry out their individual roles in the coming "American Hiroshima" plan.

Bin Laden's goal, according to the book, is to kill at least 4 million Americans, 2 million of whom must be children. Only then, bin Laden has said, would the crimes committed by America on the Arab and Muslim world be avenged.

There is virtually no doubt among intelligence analysts al-Qaida has obtained fully assembled nuclear weapons, according to Williams. The only question is how many. Estimates range between a dozen and 70. The breathtaking news is that an undetermined number of these weapons, including suitcase bombs, mines and crude tactical nuclear weapons, have already been smuggled into the U.S. – at least some across the U.S.-Mexico border.

The future plan, according to captured al-Qaida agents and documents, suggests the attacks will take place simultaneously in major cities throughout the country – including New York, Boston, Washington, Las Vegas, Miami, Chicago and Los Angeles.

Birmingham Entertainment District Evacuated After Terror Threats

Jeff Quinton has news that the entertainment district in Birmingham, England has been evacuated due to terrorism threats. A sad fact that after a big terrorist attack, which 7/7 was, is that there are other terror threats issued in the aftermath.

British Broadcasting Corp. television reported that police had carried out several controlled explosions, a precaution to disarm objects suspected of being explosive devices. (source)

Jeff Goldstein reports that 30,000 people were evacuated which gives credence to the threat having enough legitimacy to evacuate such a large population. With detonated items, this can mean there was explosive material found or the threats were deemed legitimate enough and specific enough to conclude bombs may be found in certain items.

The London Times reports London police are concerned that terrorists might strike again tonight. Investigators are convinced only one of the bombers of 7/7 was killed, the possible suicide bomber in the double decker bus, and that other still remain in England. As with every investigation however, there are multitudes of people connected and if this was the work of Al Qaida or an Al Qaida linked group, the connections will be numerous.

Update:
Bongo Vongo, who lives in Birmingham, has some in depth reports including that a suspicious package on board a bus was detonated by police. California Yankee reports of the response by British officials.

Update:
Via Jeff Quinton comes the police press release.

The bomb disposal squad has carried out 4 controlled explosions on a bus in Corporation Street, near the Square Pegg public house. This turned out to be a false call. The bomb disposal squad are however, still investigating another suspicious package in the Broad Street area.

This appears to be more of a precaution and a false threat than an actual incident to me, and thankfully so.

Cross-posted at ITB. As this story breaks, I will try to update both this post and the post on my site.

Cleric Sought in London Terror

(London) While rescuers hold on to threads of hope that they may still find survivors, they wearily struggle to access rat-infested Underground tunnels, threatening to collapse. Police and emergency workers continue to warn of possible additional victims as citizens desperately search for about 25 missing friends and relatives. In the meantime, there's some breaking news on the investigation of who is responsible for the terrorist acts.

Chad Evans at In The Bullpen has the scoop on a group called Abu Hafs al-Masri Brigades which claims to have awoken sleeper cells for the bombings.

In the group's communique asking their European sleeper cells to wake up (get active), they reference Fes which I concluded at the time must be a reference to a Moroccan prison where it is reasonable to assume there are members of Abu Hafs Brigades in prison.

Where it gets interesting though in relation to Morocco is that the primary suspect at this point in time is Mohammed Guerbouzi who is from Morocco. Guerbouzi is believed to be the leader of a Moroccan terror cell which has been broken up in the Netherlands, Italy, Belgium, Spain and France.

So, currently in the investigation, there are two groups claiming responsibility, Abu Hafs al-Masri Brigades and The Secret Organization of Al Qaeda in Europe, while law enforcers are looking for a cleric named Guerbouzi (aka Garbuzi). Thus, we have this next report.

From ABCNews Online:

Although investigators have not pinpointed any suspects sought in connection with the worst attack London has known since World War II, media reports say police have requested European counterparts seek out information on radical Moroccan cleric Mohammed al Garbuzi.

Garbuzi is leader of the Moroccan Islamic Combatant Group (GICM) and lived in Britain for 16 years, before vanishing from his north London home last year.

It is believed he may have travelled to France.

His group is blamed for attacks that killed 45 people in the Moroccan city of Casablanca in May 2003.

London police have refused to comment on reports they are hunting Garbuzi, but British dailies the Daily Mail and the Independent say in their Saturday editions that police have made "a Europe-wide request for information" on the 45-year-old awarded asylum in Britain a decade ago.

The Independent says Garbuzi is linked to Abu Qatada, a Palestinian cleric based in London who is considered the spiritual head of Al Qaeda in Europe.

Let's hope one of these leads pan out.

Current status of the casualty count is more than 50 dead and 22 people remain in serious or critical condition. About 100 injured were hospitalized for a second night.

Two Underground lines remain closed while most of the city's transportation network is back to normal.

[Update] GeoBandy writes that a Moroccan court convicted Garbuzi in absentia and sentenced him to 20 years in prison for the Casablanca bombing in 2003. Moroccan authorities sought extradition from Britain but, for some unknown reason, the UK did not comply.

If Garbuzi is implicated in the London bombings, it will be difficult to explain away the aforementioned.

Lodi Terror Investigation Grows

(Lodi, California) The Lodi mosque connection to al-Qaeda story broke last month with the arrest of two Muslims, Hamid and Umer Hayat, accused of lying to federal agents. Since that time, investigators have been busy building a case for prosecution. However, as a consequence, several new suspects are being investigated for the possibility that they attended terrorist training camps in Pakistan in addition to Hamid Hayat.

From the SacBee:

According to federal court documents obtained by The Bee, Hamid Hayat and his father, Umer, claimed the suspected Lodi jihadists reported to Muhammed Adil Khan and Shabbir Ahmed, two imams they say came to the Lodi Muslim Mosque from Pakistan to groom students for terrorist training camps.

Khan and Ahmed are being held for allegedly violating immigration laws, and through their attorney have denied being involved in terrorist activities.

The court documents apparently describe Hamid Hayat's transformation into a holy warrior, a jihadist.
In the documents, the Hayats are said to have outlined the following chain of command:

The alleged Lodi-area jihadists "would take their direction" from Shabbir Ahmed, who answered to his former madrassah (religious school) teacher in Pakistan, Adil Khan. Khan, in turn, took orders from the operator of the terrorist training camp near Rawalpindi, Fazler Rehman - whose "boss" is Osama bin Laden.

Of course, lawyers are saying that the suspects are all men of peace. Yeah! Men of peace who take orders from Osama bin Laden, according to court documents.

The Hayat's trial is scheduled to start Aug. 23, however, the government filed a motion on Wednesday to have it postponed to allow investigators to review the mountain of files and data that were seized during a search of the Hayat Lodi residence. The prosecutors are looking for violations of the Patriot Act. Interestingly, the reporting thus far on the update to the Lodi story has indicated a possible six additional suspects, but only two have been named, Adil Khan and Shabbir Ahmed.

Afghanistan Daze

By Demosophist

Larry Johnson frets:

Beyond the tragedy of the deaths of US 16 military personnel, this incident raises some disturbing issues. The ability of the Taliban to communicate with the outside world about activities in a remote area of Afghanistan is equal to if not better than that of the United States. War is not simply engagements on the ground, it also involves information flow. The Taliban are showing a very sophisticated capability in this regard.

Well, two points: more...
