They are so used to abbrievating words for use in SMS messages on their cell phones that they continue to write me Email in the same verbage -- it might take less time to type, it sure takes much longer to read and make sense of. SMS messaging is used 100X times more in Europe than in the U.S and this is the language they've made for it.
