With "Journalists" Like These, Who Needs Goebbels?

CNN's Pose of Objectivity Blown To Smithereens By Amanpour
Speaking on Larry King Live yesterday, CNN international correspondent Christiane Amanpour let the cat out of the bag on one of the worst-kept secrets in the world of journalism: Amanpour is grossly biased against US efforts in the war in Iraq.

Newsbusters has a transcript:

“But as Peter Arnett said, and I think that the others have said, that number one it's our responsibility. Number two, if we don't do it, who does it? We have had so -- we have to have an independent eye on these conflicts. The war in Iraq has basically turned out to be a disaster. And journalists have paid for it, paid for the privilege of witnessing and reporting that. And so have many, many other people who have been there. And I think that's terribly, terribly difficult for us. And unfortunately, for some reason which I can't fathom, the kind of awful thing that's going on there now on a daily basis has almost become humdrum. So when something happens to people that we identify, like Bob and like Doug, we wake up again and realize, no, this is not acceptable, what's going on there. And it's a terrible situation.”
Bonus point made by Amanpour: she doesn't really care when "little people" get killed or injured, "little people" being defined as the common rabble in Iraq and members of the military.

Amanpour's comments are a disgraceful abuse of her position, and, of course, an unintentional view into the cluelessness and stupidity that infests so very many of the mainstream media's talking heads. For CNN to have any small hope of being considered an objective news organization, they need to fire Amanpour immediately.

3 I saw the propaganda piece on TV the other night, and it was truly disgusting. She works for Communist News Network and she's half ragheadistanian, so this is hardly a surprise.

4 When you're willing to place yourself in the same category as Peter "why bother to fact check" Arnett, you're saying heaps about your personal character and journalistic integrity.....or lack there of.

6 You people are really sad. What's Amanpour supposed to say--that the Iraq mess is going well? This is one of the stupidest wars in the last 2000 years. Wake up, you dolts!

7 I'm not sad. Who is sad around here? I'm happy. And Amanpour needs to shave her mustache. Now that is sad, but for her. I suggest she wax the damn thing.

8 Yizmo, war is never "stupid". Now you on the other hand .... Your response is so like so many others. Countering Amanpour's extreme with another. "What's Amanpour supposed to say--that the Iraq mess is going well?" Amanpour is supposed to be objective; balanced. THAT'S what she's supposed to do. Independent eye my a$$. Or did you totally miss the entire concept of how she wasn't quite as passionate about the thousands of deaths until an anchorman gets hurt. It's all been quite general to her. Now it's "real" for her? She let the cat out of the bag with that remark. Eventually everyone let's their true feelings through. The sad part is that she won't blame those who attacked.

10 Ah, a leftard drop-in! I was beginning to think they had all died while playing with plastic bags.

11 "Amanpour is supposed to be objective; balanced." First of all, nice misuse of a semicolon. Second, there is nothing unbalanced about saying the Iraq war is a disaster. Being "balanced" does not mean one has to avoid an opinion. Arrgghh...this is like playing chess with chimps... Go back to your Bibles while Rumsfeld drops more chemical weapons on Fallujah. It's all in God's name. LOL

12 You play chess, Gizmo. Not likely, it is not a game that attracts the small mind of the Lefty. You are ever so tolerant, now aren't you? Have a nice day, shithead!
