Public Execution for Child Molesters

Kevin McCullugh and I see eye to eye on a lot of things. Public execution is not one of them. More and more of late I've been rethinking my stance on the death penalty. I'm for it in theory, but in practice, I'm not so sure.

Perhaps it's all the Taliban beheading videos I've been watching lately. The most recent one I watched features crowds of people being escorted by the mutilated bodies. They seem to enjoy it. There is something sickening about a culture that would find pleasure in the death of another human being--even when those human beings are disgusting criminals.

However, on another level, I find myself yearning to personally execute the human excriment who did this. WND:

The men and women who this week were arrested in association with the child porn sting carried out by the Justice Department should experience true justice. They should be dragged to Times Square in New York City, hands tied behind their backs, and their crimes should be announced to the packed square and an international TV audience. They should be given no more than two minutes to sort out their business with God.
And then ... they should go meet Him!
They should have their necks stretched, a bullet placed in the back of their heads, or a dozen bowling balls tied to their necks and dropped into the ocean. Or all three.

So, I'm conflicted.

1 I see nothing wrong with publicly executing filth like this. That story so turns my stomache I would be more then glad to send them to their maker and face my time in court. But what I would do would not be quick, nor painless. To rape your own toddler and to broadcast it to others, he deserves more pain then I could inflict on him. If any one disagrees with me fine, welcome to the US, the land of open debate. An animal like that needs to be used as a lesson to others of it's kind, and no, 15 years in prison will not send a good enough message. Semper Fi Sean

2 There are people that are just not fit to live. Public executions I think might be a real incentive NOT to be doing heinous things. There's always going to be people who enjoy watching, but I'm all for it. Take the scum that murdered Carlie Burcia. These kinds of murders seem to happen all the time. As a society, we need to make a statement that this will NOT be tolerated.

6 As much as I believe the death penalty to be the strongest deterent to crime, for some death is too kind. As in this case. Don't kill them, then "they won't learn nothin'." Let their trial be "to the pain" (Inigo, you should know this one.) Put them in the nastiest prison in the country, in general population, and make sure everyone knows what they did to get there. Cause, cons hate a child molester as much as we do. Let them spend the rest of their days being utilized in the same fashion as they did their own child. They will surely die there, let their death be excruciatingly long and painful.

7 I've come around to the idea that no one should have the type of control over a person's life that abortion and the death penalty have. BUT there must always be exceptions. Regarding abortion, if the mother's life is in danger, a choice has to be made. Regarding the death penalty, there are those people that are no more than rabid dogs, that are so obviously guilty, that have committed deeds so beyond forgiveness, that are so entrenched in their murderous philosophy that only the ground itself can rehabilitate them into something useful. Saddam Hussein, Adolf Hitler, Milosevic all fit that category, as I'm sure do others.

8 Wow. I would be totally against a public showing of brutality regardless of the crime. I'm a cautious supporter of capital punishment, but no where near to the degree of doing it publicly. It's exactly that sort of barbarity we fight against. While we may privately entertain the literal idea of an eye for an eye thinking that it simply rewards people with justice, in effect what we're doing is sacrificing one more part of what humanity we as civilized people have left. The execution of another person is a solemn occasion, not a sport.

9 Likewise Oyster, I agree with the death penalty, but public executions have always been valuable tools of the totalitarian Government to exercise control by fear, or a tool of religious authorities to exercise compliance, like the executions in Afghanistan soccer stadiums, beheadings in Saudi Arabia, hangings in Iran. It's a road I would not like to see opened.

10 'Zactly, Dave. I was thinking about this last night, but having been drunk, I can't remember if I commented on it ;-) A good friend of mine is in Kuwait City right now and last I spoke to him he said everyone was talking about the public hanging that was to occur in a few days time. Regardless of what it was for (in his case it was for possession of alcohol!) people were cheerful and planning for the day's outing to the execution. UGH! Does that give any idea of what kind of slippery slope this is?

12 Tough subject. On the one hand I endorse the death penalty yet have no desire to see an execution so I suppose that makes me a hypocrite. I could and would witness one if the condemned had murdered a loved one though. I suppose if we have jury duty we should have hangman's duty as well, though the feeble and otherwise infirm would rightfully have to be excused. We wouldn't want Granny falling down the steps of the gallows now would we? On the other hand, I doubt the Public would flinch no more over a hanging or gassing or the chair or lethal injection than they would a violent, graphic movie. We shouldn't kid ourselves by thinking stoning or beheading is less humane because it takes longer. A good old fashioned firing squad is darn hard to beat in my books, though I don't think the family of the victim should be billed for the cost of bullets like is done in China.

I'd even say there's a big difference between seeing a real execution on TV, or a Hollywood movie or actually attending. Three levels of immersion there. How far removed would you have to be to not get whacked, Leatherneck? As for the method of execution, the James Bond movies provide a ton of creatively gruesome possibilities. My favorites: Getting sliced in half by a high-powered laser, starting at the nuts (Goldfinger), getting dropped into a shark tank (The Spy Who Loved Me) or out of an airborne vehicle without a parachute (A View To A Kill), getting locked in a car that is then crushed into a cube (Goldfinger again, although in that case the guy was already dead), or, well, just about any actual or attempted offing done in Licence To Kill.

The biggest problem that I have with executing criminals is the fact that the government does it. Every day blogs just like this one are filled with items about how badly government does things. I don't think a government that steals money from our pockets to fund a $255 bridge to nowhere is trustworthy.

25 Right or wrong, my opinion is that these animals do not deserve to live among humans. Furthermore, although her physical wounds may heal, that child's soul has been shattered, irreparably. Long into her adult life (IF she allows herself to live, some victims do not!) she will have vague shadows of memory, or perhaps vivid memories of the pain, not to mention the loss of innocence, the absolute abandonment of trusting anyone to keep her safe. I don't have the answer, only my opinion, but I DO KNOW THIS - this is NOT what God had in mind for this child. I hope that she does not have to grow up in a world so sick that it allowed her father to get away with HIS life intact after this horrific act. As the mother of a victim of a sick tortured mind, I watched my daughter suffer every day for the rest of her life, even though she tried and tried to "understand" and "get past it". Violently molested at the age of 23 months, she took her own life at the age of 13. In her own words, "I know this is a permanent solution to a 'temporary' situation, but I'm just too damned tired to try even one more day." It was the day that her molester was paroled from prison, free as a bird... the end of any freedom she may have ever known. I say "hang the bastards!'

As I predicted yesterday, celebrations of Jerry Lewis' birthday turned violent in France as students turned out en masse. Okay, the riots were unrelated to Jerry Lewis' 80th birthday, but I did predict riots in France! That's got to count for something.

Then again, predicting riots in France is a lot like predicting it will be hot in Las Vegas.

Whiney French students (redundant--I know) took to the streets to protest a change in French law which would make it legal to fire new employees up to two years after they begin. Oh the inhumanity of it all! Imagine, employees at Paris shops might actually have to pay attention to their customers.

MSNBC headlines its report that federal investigators recently passed homemade bombmaking materials through checkpoints at 21 US airports, "Airline screeners fail government bomb tests":

In all 21 airports tested, no machine, no swab, no screener anywhere stopped the bomb materials from getting through. Even when investigators deliberately triggered extra screening of bags, no one discovered the materials.

Because they were leaking information from a classified report, NBC said they would not publish what materials were used, but they presumably were easily obtainable ingredients. more...

1 Can anyone really say they're surprised at such ineptitude and inefficieny in government employees? On top of all other hiring guidelines, including Affirmative Action, I think it's a prerequisite for applicants to be about as dumb as a bag of hammers. Of course if one thinks about it, anyone who would take such a crap job can't be the sharpest knife in the drawer in the first place, and they've probably got a union, so they don't care if they let a bomb through.

2 I can't help but think this is partly due to the government insisting that it's better at anything than private contractors when they decided to take over all screening. The government has proven time and time again that it is totally inferior to private industry. Why should this be any different?

3 Why do the employees always get the blame? They only do what their highly educated supervisors let them do. Government Screening Officers have been trying to tell the world about how poorly TSA is protecting the flying public and if , falls on deaf ears, the ears of the congress that put them in the job. NOt even the press will take an interest in what a screener has to say. Think twice before you are so quick to blame the employees. BTW they do have a union, but no collective bargaining. Maximus should get over the hate of unions. They are what brought us the middle class in this country.

6 IM: eleven out of twelve applicants for screening positions were rejected when the TSA was formed. The uniformed portion of the TSA is heavily former military and law enforcement. They are barred by act of Congress from being represented by a union, but odds are heavy that they wouldn't vote Democrat even if they were not the case. Many of them, as did I, joined after 9/11 as a way to serve in the war on terror. I got to see quite a bit, because I was an MSF, part of the Mobile Screener Force, that trained screeners in airports around the country as they Federalized. It cost me about $10,000 per year to serve vs. my private sector earnings. If you were angry at some policy of your local police chief would you shit all over the beat cops?

And, yes, at their inception, they were indeed a force of good for the blue (black in KY) collar workers. Now, however, as with anything that brings political and financial power, the only thing the unions bring are corruptness and cronyism. They brought us a middle class, yes, but now they've left that same middle class to fend for itself -- the very thing they were originally formed to prevent in the first place.

11 Sly is exactly right. Their [unions] main objective has become self preservation. And what I meant by deriding the government in respect to screeners is the same sentiment I have for many organizations. The lower ranks are certainly not at fault. They're only as good as their training and the tools they're given to do their jobs. It's the fault of upper management when substandard work becomes the norm. Even when a lower ranked employee demonstrates ingenuity they're often rebuffed by upper management who either feels threatened or is forced to adhere to a too rigid policy in some respects.

Actually I could have put "corporations" in place of "unions" in that statement and it would be just as true. However, this is not a union issue. It is an issue of the priorities of this particular administration. The business revolution of 10 years ago, where employees were "empowered" to "think outside the box" in order to create a more efficient business was nothing more than smoke and mirrors for the majority of big business and government operations. It was the proverbial "cookie crumb" so that those in charge could say they encourage input from their workforce. But when the work whistle blows, it's "my way or the highway" -- at least until accountability is mandated, then, of course, it's all the little guys' fault. And since they can't do their jobs right, more money (and power) is needed in order to train them so they can (not) do their jobs any better than they already were.

Unfortunately, they squandered much of it on lavish offices and furnishings, and perks and salaries for their fellow bureaucrats. If you think that bureaucracy is a purely Republican issue, you're simply grossly naive. As for the value of a free press, well, that's practically nil, as Lisa Myers botched the reporting of this story right from the headline. None of the TSA screeners are "airline" screeners. They are Federal agents, who could be described as "airport" screeners or "passenger and baggage screeners", I suppose, but the "airline" head is simply incorrect. It amply displays Myers' surface knowledge of the story this "senior correspondent" is supposedly covering. You don't like "Democrat" used as a noun? Better learn to deal with it because it's an excellent way to distinguish between something that's "democratic" and the partisan machinations of the now-inaptly named DNC, which has very little respect for democratic institutions.

16 Story is incredibly vague on details and clearly ignorant of why, how, and where internal testing (and probing for you Rusty) is done as both performance standards and continuious training exercises. Story also seems to have no idea (or cares to know) of structure, authority, positions, responsibilities, terminology etc. of security ops at airports (or anywhere for that matter). A story for the sake of a story - sensationalized with that "OH MY GOD!" feel. I blew it off as meaningless - and expected it to would attract some of the "OH MY GOD BDS" crowd. Bluto - I've done "Security Breeching" a few times against your military counterparts (Facilities Security) - IT'S FUN! My finest work forever earned me the local title of "SGT HONDO - THAT SOB WISE-ASS PRICK! My goal - 2 full armsrooms with munitions inside an armory facility - Alert Security Status - full latest tech security plus 10 (armed personnel) in the immediate area alone ... and I took down the entire facility (apx 150 pers) w/2 privates (we were unarmed). Bluto - I have a fair idea of what you do - you would just love to know what I used for "weapons and explosives".

18 hondo: from the, admittedly questionable, information in the story, it sounds like a "Red Team" was demonstrating gaps in security for TSA management, not as a test of the screeners. That's what makes its leaking damaging. FYI, I caught a suit at one of the airports I trained screeners at freelancing a "test device" he had discovered and dusted off. He was gigging screeners if they missed it. Trouble was, it was intended as a visual aid only, and did not show explosive characteristics on X-ray. This clown, a friend of the FSD, was the airport's "Training Officer".

Every single alarm whether it's Mahmoud or his pretty Cauc girlfriend who doesn't know that Mahmoud stuffed a Lockerbie-style bomb in her carryon. Even if it's an elderly Chechnyan Muslim (also a cauc, btw) who has decided to meet Allah with a bang in his old age. You follow the procedures laid down in the SOP without deviation and you do NOT establish a pattern when selecting passengers for extra screening because patterns can be identified and exploited. Even jarheads can understand this, when they don't have their stubborn hats on. I trained screeners at airports all over the country as an MSF. I gave up a nice comfy desk job, 10 grand a year, and the company of my family because after 9/11 I just had to do something because the military discriminates on the basis of age, even though I can still kick the shit out of the first two twenty-five year olds you find on the street. I worked seven day weeks and I liked it. And Mr. Devildog, you just might want to figure out that it's not a good idea to call someone you have no clue abut a pussy. Especially when the one you lack clues about happens to stand six one and go two-fifty and has fought and won regularly in full-contact Tae Kwon Do tournaments. Also when the one you have no clue about was taught to shoot by an Expert Rifleman Sergeant of Marines who won the Bronze Star and Purple Heart on Okinawa, and paid the price for both, and just btw, had his stripes before he turned twenty going a hundred. So you can take your tea and nails talk and put it in the same place you pulled your "I know more about security" from.

Your own observations seem measured and sincere, and deserve to be answered in kind. Having said that, perhaps youÂ’ll be interested in a more serious expression of my views on this matter. I didnÂ’t Â“waltzÂ” into the discussion, but was brought here through a link from the Doau Report in Salon, as I imagine some others were. IÂ’ll admit I came in with some preconceptions, but here is why I responded in the way I did. It seems to me that there is a sensibility and rigid ideological agenda that informs the conservative position on virtually every single issue Â– political, social, cultural, etc. Â– which is never acknowledged, but is only expressed in transparent code. This may not be the agenda of every Republican, but it is most definitely the animating force of Republicanism, and is evident even in what Â– as I described initially Â– is a straightforward discussion of bureaucratic incompetence. Specifically, the reference to affirmative action in this context means one thing, and one thing only: Â“itÂ’s the niggers.Â” Can I prove it? Of course not; but I donÂ’t have to; we all know exactly what it means, and if there are sincere conservatives who stand for something other than racial pandering, they would rid themselves of this filth. Not surprisingly, this is the same poster who relishes the fantasy of seeing my throat slit; not that it disturbs me, but I would think it might provoke some concern among those who wish Republicanism to stand for something other than a rank appeal to hatred. In short, I wish there were more people who wanted a genuine give-and-take discussion of the issues at hand, but when I see a topic turned into an excuse for yet another diatribe against Blacks, commies, unionists, and the other standard enemies, it doesnÂ’t provide a basis for much optimism. As to the merits of affirmative action, i suspect you'd be surprised to learn that I probably agree with you. My politics are very left wing, yet I'm against affirmative action, except as a remedial response to specific, demonstrable instances of prior discriminination. But would you honestly claim that there is some conceivable conection between the topic here and affirmative action? Also, I don't think I'm being smug, but I certainly do condemn racists and believe they're contemptible. Lastly, I don't claim my case is proved just because I say so, but I stand behind the point that it isn't groundless because it can't be proved; it's simply not an argument subject to deductive proof. Nor do I use nigger for shock value: I personally hear the word used almost constantly, and it seems to me to be the height of political correctness to pretend it isn't.

32 legaleagle: you assert that, in your case, you oppose affirmative action, due to your examination of the benefits of the program. However, if a person you have identified as a conservative opposes AA, it is because he or she is racist. Assigning universal beliefs to a group as diverse as conservatives, as you presume to do here, is intellectually lazy; more a characteristic of fascism than progressiveism. I myself am a neolibertarian. Why would I have exactly the same ideology as say, a Christian fundamentalist? This is why your argument breaks down under deductive reasoning. Aside: the connection to AA here has less to do with race and more to do with gender. TSA follows different rules than the former private screening companies. Screeners are not allowed to handwand or patdown passengers of the opposite gender. This creates a staffing issue, because many more men than women are interested in joining the TSA. Thus, some checkpoints are chronically under-womanned, if you will.

33 First, I'm always shocked that someone openly uses the "n" word to imply that another is a racist who hasn't used such a derogatory word. Not to say either person couldn't be a racist; just that one who is using the word to accuse another who refrains from it seems on its face, well, wrong to me. No one brought up black people as part of the argument here. What actually was a point of contention was the lack of profiling Arabs in the screening process. While I understand their reasoning, I also see why it is a bad argument. As Bluto explained quite well above. As to legaleagle's depiction of the republican "rigid ideological agenda", I would only say that the biggest part of the conservative or republican agenda is capitalism; letting the free market dictate wages and competitive benefits packages among companies. The unions should have stuck to their original agenda; forcing them to provide safe work environments and adhere to existing government standards on reasonable work hours and wages and promotions comensurate with ability. Not demanding paid personal days off and a better break room or "we'll go on strike". Do I exaggerate? Not much. The ACLU? Same thing. These "organizations" which do not compete in the free market are the ones that grow into the biggest monsters. The federal government? Yet another. Everyone fears them. No one can fight them. All they promote is fear and ignorance, which is the only way they can ensure their own survival. When was the last time you saw a union or the government or the ACLU do a massive layoff? Are corporations saintly? Absolutely not. That's why we created such organizations. But they've grown beyond their usefulness and created new problems, which, incidently it seems, only they themsleves are suited to solve. And when that fails, bring the weight of the feds (another incompetent mass) down on anyone who dares to defy them. Legaleagle, I appreciate your change in delivery, but you're still wrong. We're individuals here and we often disagree. You'll find libertarians, convervatives and liberals here, all to differing degrees. If you'd been coming here as long as some of us, you'd see that. Some are civil and others not. Sometimes we all agree on one thing, sometimes not. That, in itself, disproves that "we" are part and parcel of the "rigid ideological agenda" group you seem to want to paint us as. You first berated the entire group, then when called on it, you did it again, only nicely this time. So again, thanks for being nice about it, but I think you're still wrong.

Taliban Releases New Beheading Video from Waziristan (Images)

The propaganda arm of the Taliban, Ummat Studios, has released a new propaganda video of alleged criminals who have been beheaded or otherwise killed in Waziristan. Graphic images from the video are posted below.

The high-production value video warns Muslims against cooperating with 'apostate' regimes, such as Pakistan's Pervez Musharraf and praises violent jihad. The video quotes the Quran and sayings of the Prophet Muhammed to justify the killing of what are allegedly highway robbers and other common criminals. It shows their mutilated bodies being displayed as a warning to crowds of people. The underlying warning is that the same fate awaits those who would cooperate with secular regimes which will not implement harsh Sharia (Islamic) law.

Yale University has recently admitted a former top Taliban official. The images below are shocking and disgusting. We post them to help the reader become acquainted with the tactics of the Taliban. The video boasts of the beheadings. It boasts that this is what the Taliban are doing.

This is what Islamic law looks like in practice. These are the enemies we are fighting in Afghanistan. This is what the 'insurgents' in Iraq would like to do if they ever came to power. These are the 'freedom fighters' lauded by the Left.

4 Won't see these images on the MSM - you will of course get all kinds of reasons for that - but not the real one - this is the face of the enemy. People see this stuff you will get two reactions .... 1) Fear & terror with the desire to run away and hide, do whatever to make it go away etc. 2) Anger & revulsion with the desire to stand and fight and force it away etc. The MSM and Dems are not stupid! They know their core supporters fall into group 1 - and they know we and others fall into group 2. But they also know that many others - some Dems, Independents, even some Libs (yes!) and others would lean towards group 2 if given a visual, in-your-face, this-is-what-its-all-about push. How many? I personally believe a significant amount - which frightens the MSM & Dems. Why? Because they are Americans and its a gut reaction cultural/personal character/spiritual kinda thing. A lot of you don't like in-the-middle fence-sitters (its understandable) - but know this - that group (significant in size) scares the crap out of the Dems and MSM - and thats why they can't be truthful of their positions or the face of the enemy.

6 Maybe I'm too optimistic, but I think if we were suddenly faced with this kind of reality, we might be surprised at who would "come around". The problem is - this won't happen suddenly. It will happen gradually; desensitizing people along the way. People will become innured to a certain level of harshness and when that is "acceptable" the next level of punitive conduct is introduced. And the next thing you know we're wondering how we got here. While we find this utterly repulsive and shocking, they do as well, but they're a little less surprised than we would be from our cushy existence. Afhganistan has been wracked with war for far too long. Hopefully, they'll get just as fed up as the Iraqis seem to be.

Al Qaeda Threatens U.S. on Video

Yesterday we broke the story that a new al Qaeda video was making the jihadi rounds. Today there is confirmatian. Yes, we actually break news around here sometimes.

The video features 'martyr' Fahd Farraj al-Juwair, the former Emir of Al-Qaeda in the Land of Mohammed (Saudi Arabia), who was killed 2 weeks ago in Riyadh after the failed attack on the Abqaig oil facility. Three documents, all dated with yesterday's date, accompanied the video. Video and docs will be sent out on request.

Via Gateway Pundit this from Al Jazeera:

"To Americans we tell you to leave Muhammad's peninsula [Saudi Arabia], and leave all Muslim lands. Stop aiding Jews in Palestine and stop aiding Christians in Muslim lands or else you will face killing, destruction and bombings," said al-Juweir, who was on a most-wanted list of al-Qaida suspects.
"To the Saudi government, we have come to you to slaughter you and your rule is fleeting ... If you knew what the [mujahideen] have prepared for you, you would be fleeing this Arabian peninsula."
Al-Juweir also called on Saudi security forces to join the group's holy war.
"[Prince] Nayef bin Abdul Aziz [the interior minister] told you to sell your souls to his government and kill for him in defence of Americans ... Stop defending tyrants and join the mujahideen or else you know what awaits you," he said.

Gateway Pundit (via Glenn) and The Anchoress both note that al Qaeda chatter is running at an all time post-9/11 high. Given that the source is Douglas Farah, though, i'm skepticle. GIMF, mentioned by all concerned, should not be used as a legitimate intelligence source since they are a propaganda outlet. GIMF warning of attacks is nothing new, since all of their propaganda pretty much carries that theme. However, in light of today's offensive against Sammara, perhaps the AQ gang got wind of something?

In any event, there seems to have been a slight decline in the number of these videos released by the 'mujahidin' from Iraq recently--in spite of obvious pieces of propaganda such as this. In fact, a number of us who follow these things have noticed that certain 'insurgent' groups have begun recycling footage from 'operations' and trying to pass them off as new. Like a recent video from the 1920's Revolution Brigade announcing an operation which had killed American soldiers which was, in fact, some footage from some months before.

Perhaps this fact combined with other good news from Iraq is a sign? I certainly hope so.

A resolution honoring Fonda's volunteer work cruised through yesterday. But many senators failed to realize it was part of a stack of non-controversial efforts all approved with a single vote.
The chairman of the chamber's veterans affairs committee objected, setting up a reconsideration of the honor for the Atlanta resident this morning.
Senator Steen Miles of Decatur says the resolution was one of several Women's History Month measures she has introduced to honor Georgia women. The resolution cites Fonda's work as founder of the Georgia Campaign for Adolescent Pregnancy Prevention, donations to Atlanta-area universities and charities and role as goodwill ambassador with the United Nations.

Clinton W. Taylor & Debbie BookStaber Get Apologies From Yale.

As you may recall Clinton and Debbie are co-authors of an idea to mail fake fingernails to Yale in response to itÂ’s admission of a former Taliban spokesman to the university. The protest is intended to point out that the policy of the Taliban was to remove the fingernails and toenails of women in Afghanistan who painted their nails. A Yale employee, one Alexis Surovov, apparently used university records to look up the pair of Yale alumni so he could call them Â“retardedÂ” via email. Yale has suspended Mr. Sorovov, but Yale has still not addressed the problem of just why Mr. Rahmatulla is still at Yale. I have Mr. TaylorÂ’s reaction below as well as a more from the WSJ opinionjournal and links to all Jawa Report coverage the extended entry.

Mr. Surovov accessing our records to send us a letter was creepy and lame, and kind of funny. It's not funny that they welcome the Taliban's spokesman on campus as a student, which is the real, unacknowledged problem here. Still, Mr. Surovov's suspension in the Yale Alumni Office creates an opportunity for Yale. They need to defend to the alumni their indefensible decision to admit the Taliban's deputy foreign minister. Mr. Rahmatullah is a certified expert at defending the indefensible. Rather than re-admitting Rahmatullah as a sophomore this month, perhaps Yale's Development Office should hire him.

1 A foreign student visa for a guy with this background and admission and paid scholarship to Yale requires serious JUICE to grease the wheels. He can't do it - everything has to originate here. There is a story here but I don't know if it will truly be pursued or sidetracked. Attempts will be made to blame DHS, INS etc. but they can easily be bullied to sign off & rubberstamp this with the proper political/institutional power (and I'm not talking administration). There is a potential scandal here - and the actual culprits will be found at/associated with Yale and amongst 535 people currently working in Washington. For anyone who have ever worked in the Federal govt - if a Congressional Staffer showed up at your office wearing a clown costume .... you still show respect!!!!

4 Ok, the detail of his release are hard to find right now, link pollution by the Yale thing. I did find he was held by the US at bagram airbase then went to Pakistan (of all places) and was under house arrest there. NYT won't let me read it all. But it is fishy and I know I read that a German hostage was involved in his release I just can't find it right now. I have another point of view that you may be interested in listening to. After all, this country was founded on ideas and opinions and the right to express them equally. I have had the opportunity to break bread with many people of various races, colors and creeds, who fought in wars for and against the United States. These people range from Russians Communists to German NaziÂ’s to WW II English, Italian, American and Imperial Japanese soldiers. The three things these men all had in common were commitment, honor and patriotism. Some of the most compelling dinner conversations IÂ’ve ever been graced to be a part of were when my uncles discussed WW II. One fought for America, one for England and one for Germany. I realized that perception, reality and politics often donÂ’t align. I wish every American could have the opportunity to sit at that table. To the victor go the spoilsÂ…and also the history. My German Uncle was as much of a hero to me as the rest of my family members. If he was not a member of the Nazi Youth, he would have been assassinated at age twelve. This gives me a different point of view than many when talking about Mr. Hashemi as a member of the Taliban. I trust that U.S. Secret Service, Immigration, and Homeland Security Officers know much more about Mr. Hashemi than I. He was afforded an A-1 Visa as a student in the United States-legally I presume. Now, heÂ’s been accepted at the prestigious Yale University as a Â“special studentÂ” as you have alluded to. Although you may not agree with these facts, they are that. I was truly inspired by your townhall.com article from March 13, 2006, in which you reference Nathan Hale, a patriot, veteran and national hero to all Americans. I believe Mr. Hale would be proud of his alma mater, or any institution like it that would accept such a diverse student as Mr. Hashemi. Veterans often have a greater understanding and sense of honor for their opponents than do civilians. In todayÂ’s world, I find it imperative that all Americans study and understand all the diverse cultures in this ever shrinking world. Without understanding, compassion, agreement, compromise and logic, it will be impossible for our generation and ones to follow to achieve co-existence and peace throughout mankind. I believe Yale University has taken a monumental step in breaking down the barriers of fear, hatred and oppression that our servicemen and women fight every day to defeat. I do not believe that there are many Americans who agree with the TalibanÂ’s politics, tactics or views. Nonetheless, it is essential that we study, rationalize and understand them in order to gain a comprehension of how our two cultures can coexist peacefully. Without Mr. HashemiÂ’s input on these matters, we may be no better than the Taliban itself in implementing democracy to a region that has historically been a monarchy. Mr. Taylor, I hope you reconsider your NailYale campaign. Spreading anger, hate and animosity amongst your fellow alumni does nothing to advance the principles and values of your beloved Yale. I would recommend that you spend this time educating yourself on world religion, global politics and environmental concerns instead of trying to persuade your peers into the void of intolerance and oppression. Notice anything odd about this picture which accompanied an AP story in which a U.N. "expert" alleges that Jewish settlers "terrorize Palestinians with impunity"? Click the image for a shocking revelation about the photo. I wonder what other information in the story has been doctored?

4 I can't find anyplace where this photo appeared except on Haaretz. It doesn't come up in a Yahoo News photo search. A Google search for the caption text turns up only one result: the Haaretz page. The attribution on Haaretz is merely "(AP)" with no photographer named. Usually AP photos are credited like "(AP/John Doe)" In summary, I am unconvinced that this ever was an Associated Press news photo. I think it's just as likely that Haaretz miscredited the image.

6 Furthermore, now I don't even believe the story is an AP story! Tha Haaretz article also appears, word-for-word (only without their doctored photo, on the IMEMC website. Only there, it is credited to "IMEMC & Associated Press," whatever that means. It might mean that they used material from the real AP story by Bradley S. Klapper (which was quite a bit briefer), then edited and added to it themselves. (That would explain misspellings like "seperate" in their story.) If that's the case, it is wrong for Haaretz to credit the story only to "The Associated Press."

Doctors and the Cult of Moloch

Of all the gods of the ancient world, Moloch stands out as the worst. Moloch was also known as Baal, and was one of the Punic gods--a god worhsipped by the Phoenicians (Philistines) who later settled Carthage. In the Old Testament, a great deal of ink is devoted to denouncing Moloch-Baal worship. Why? Because the central ritual of Moloch worship was sacrificing children. Legend, you might claim, no one would kill their own children! Greek and Roman texts also record how the Carthiginians sacrificed children by burning them to death.

As digsusting as all that is, at least it is history, right? Wrong. Today Moloch worship is alive and well. Its high-priests are doctors, its religion science, and its mantra quality of life.

Doctors in England have been trying to murder an 18 month old child for some time now. Luckily, a court has stopped these modern day Moloch worshippers who advocated killing the child because they deemed his life not worth living.

Unfortunately, this is but the first round of what I foresee as a long battle.

3 I think the motivation is different from the Molochs. Molochs were driven out of fear or sadism or craziness. The doctor's motivation is mercy and compassion. I don't think it is a fair comparison and I hope if I were in the situation as the boy or Mario Shiavo that someone would have the compassion to put me out of my misery.

The Phoenicians predated the Philistines along what is now the Israeli-Lebanese coast. The gods and rituals that you mention -- Baal and Moloch -- were Punic and not Philistine. The Philistines' origins are identified with a place called "Caphtor," whose exact location is unsettled but which many believe to be Crete or Greece. They were one of a group of "sea peoples" that attacked Egypt under Ramses II in an unsusccessful attempt to settle there before settling on the Israeli coast around Ascalon and Gaza.

12 Brad, I much prefer the Colt .45 Auto, but the Glock is fine too, but don't forget to buy at least 1,000 rounds of ammo with it so you will have plenty. I also suggest a good pump shotgun, the Remington 870 is the best, and a semi-automatic rifle, preferably one of the Socoms.

Might I suggest buying a Mosberg 12 gauge pump shotgun, several boxes of 4 shot, ( Duck ), at least one box of 00-buck shot, a soild pair of jungle boots, ( $100.00 ). Get your home defense weapon first, and learn to use it well. Later, you can go 007, and pick up a hand gun that MIGHT win your battles. With the money you save, you can pick up some web gear, canteens, knife, flashlight to attach, some cammies, ( black bottoms, shirt marpart pattern, face veil,( recon wrap ), cover, ( hat ), gloves, and boot laces. The Mosberg will not cost as much to get. This way Brad, you will look good, and but real fear into the enemy.

16 Brad, When things start to go downhill, they will get out of hand a lot faster than you think. Also, there is no substitute for a good, accurate, powerful handgun that is always close and secure when you really need it. I had a situation a few years ago where I was the victim of an attempted armed robbery, and a small Taurus .38 special saved my life. This was a life-changing experience. I forgot about always having the very best car or truck, or eating out every Friday and Saturday night, or having the latest in style clothes. I went out and bought the best, not neccessarily the most expensive, guns and accessories I have been able to find. You would be surprised at some of the deals you can get on guns if you are just patient. For instance, I got a Ruger Model 77 30-06 rifle for $200 from an individual who advertised in one of the free weekly newspapers. He needed the money and he took much less than what the rifle was worth. And frankly, Wal-Mart carries the Remington 870 pump at very attractive prices. The Socoms are expensive, I admit, and I had to save 5 years to get mine, but the AK line of rifles are really inexpensive and have a bullet that is adequate. My point is that your personal safety should be number one on your list. I put it ahead of everything except basic necessities.

Sirhan Sirhan Denied Parole for 13th Time

(San Francisco, California) Palestinian immigrant, Sirhan Sirhan, was sentenced to death for fatally shooting Senator Robert Kennedy in the kitchen of the Ambassador Hotel in Los Angeles in 1968. The sentence was later commuted to life in prison with the possibility of parole. Yesterday, Sirhan Sirhan saw parole denied for the 13th time.

Sirhan, who turns 62 on Sunday, has been seeking to win his freedom since 1972.
Had the Board of Parole recommended parole, the matter would have gone to California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger for final review. Kennedy was the uncle of Schwarzenegger's wife, Maria Shriver.
"The panel found that he continues to pose an unacceptable risk to public safety and felt that he was not suitable for parole," Tip Kindel, a spokesman for the Board of Prison Terms, said of Sirhan.

So, Sirhan will continue to enjoy cellblock life alongside Charles Manson at Corcoran State Prison. Maybe the two are really, really close, if you catch my drift. Nevertheless, it would have been a waste of effort to send Sirhan's papers to Schwarzenegger.
