It's interesting to note that at the time of the Tal Afar offensive--as with all offensive operations--the hard Left claimed cried 'genocide' and 'war crimes'. Of course by 'war crimes' they mean U.S. troops killing terrorists, but not terrorists booby trapping the bodies of dead children in Tal Afar.

VOA:
So I've admitted in the past to having doubts about the death penalty. Guys like this seem to make those doubts disappear.
As he was dragged out of court, the suspect, a Syrian national identified as Loa'i Mohammad Haj Bakr al-Saqa said, "My beliefs prevent me from standing in front of people like you." He added, "I fought a Jihad, I killed Americans.".Al-Saqa is on trial with 72 other suspected al-Qaida operatives for alleged involvement in a string of suicide bomb attacks in November 2003. Four suicide bombers driving explosives-laden vehicles targeted two synagogues, the British consulate and the Istanbul headquarters of the British HSBC bank.
The British Consul General was among the 58 people who died in the blasts. Most of those killed were Muslim Turks.
Turkish prosecutors charge that al-Qaida leader Osama Bin Laden personally ordered the Syrian to organize the attacks against Jewish and British nationals in Turkey. Al-Saqa and his alleged Syrian accomplice, Hamid Obysi, were captured in Turkey last August after a failed attempt to blow up Israeli cruise ships off Turkey's Mediterranean coast.
Al-Saqa reportedly told interrogators that the plan to kill Israeli tourists was financed by a top al-Qaida militant who allegedly gave him $50,000 to organize the plot.

Newsmax : An Iraqi intelligence document released last week indicates that Osama bin Laden sought to conduct "joint operations" with Saddam Hussein's regime six years before the 9/11 attacks - and was given the green light by the Iraqi dictator.[See the translation of the original document here in which 'joint operations' are proposed between al Qaeda and Iraq]. Oh you mean that Saddam? Shocking! The document, detailed in the March 27 issue of the Weekly Standard, describes a Feb. 1995 meeting between bin Laden and Iraqi intelligence that was personally approved by "the Honorable Presidency" - an apparent reference to Saddam.

I wonder how Democrats will react when documented proof that UBL "sought to conduct "joint operations" with Saddam Hussein's regime five years before the 9/11 attacks, and was given the green light by the Iraqi dictator." I suspect that they'll ignore it as best they can and hope that their media allies move to the next subject as quickly as possible.Pretty damn good guess I'd say. more...

So for the Afghans, he is a good guy. If we were to hand this good guy to the U.S., what kind of justification will we give to our people? But maybe the Yale Taliban was just some low-level operative who joined the ranks for personal promotion?
Apparently he had impressed the mullahs with his footwork in America, because soon after he returned, Mr. Rahmatullah went to work as a personal adviser to Mullah Omar.....How this guy got a student visa and why Yale admitted him I'll never understand. When UPIÂ’s Arnaud de Borchgrave interviewed Mullah Omar in June 2001, Mr. Rahmatullah did all the talking. Where Mullah Omar comes off as the strong, silent type in the interview, Mr. Rahmatullah emerges as the idea man, the big picture guy, the strategist with both eyes open, Mullah Omar having lost one of his fighting the Soviets.
We've known Clinton Taylor for some time now. Long time readers may recall that I appeared on his Stanford radio program awhile back. Apparently I'm a much better blogger than radio guest since I've never been invited back! In any event, keep up the good work Clint.

VOA News : Rahman reportedly converted more than 16 years ago after spending time working in Germany. Officials say his family, who remain observant Muslims, turned him over to the authorities. On Thursday the prosecution told the court Rahman has rejected numerous offers to embrace Islam. Prosecuting attorney Abdul Wasi told the judge that the punishment should fit the crime. This man should be freed immediately. ROPMA! I thought Islam teaches Jesus is cool? They are always talking up how much they respect Jesus Christ. Yeah right, they respect him so much they execute Christians! He says Rahman is a traitor to Islam and is like a cancer inside Afghanistan. Under Islamic law and under the Afghan constitution, he says, the defendant should be executed.

DonÂ’t miss VonskiÂ’s weekly roundup of Good News in the GWOT. Also this week Vonski goes to the local moonbat zoo. Feisty Whore on bleeding heart liberal Aussie newspaper critic.
Feisty :The reason the newspapers mentioned the words 'Arab' and 'Muslim' in 89 percent of terrorism articles following 9/11 is because....the terrorists were Muslims bent hard on Jihad. You would have to have a major cranio-rectal inversion to think this is racist.Well put.

Snow will continue Monday and Monday night before tapering to flurries early Tuesday. Additional snowfall will range from 8 to 14 inches during this time. The omaha metro area will likely see an additional 8 to 11 inches of snow while the lincoln metro area may receive an additional 10 to 13 inches of accumulation. A winter storm warning means significant amounts of snow, sleet, and ice are expected or occurring. Strong winds are also possible. This will make travel very hazardous or impossible.
Would one of you kind people please e-mail God and tell him that THE FIRST DAY OF SPRING IS TOMORROW!!!

President Remarks on Third Anniversary of Beginning of Iraq Liberation (whitehouse.gov):
This morning I had a phone call with our ambassador to Iraq. And the ambassador informed me of the progress that the Iraqis are making in forming a unity government. I encouraged the Iraqi leaders to continue to work hard to get this government up and running. The Iraqi people voted for democracy last December; 75 percent of the eligible citizens went to the polls to vote. Now the Iraqi leaders are working together to enact a government that reflects the will of the people. I'm encouraged by the progress. The ambassador was encouraged by it.Today, as well, marks the third anniversary of the beginning of the liberation of Iraq. And it's a time to reflect. And this morning, our reflections were upon the sacrifices of the men and women who wear our uniform. Ours is an amazing nation where thousands have volunteered to serve our country. They volunteered to -- many volunteered after 9/11, knowing full well that their time in the military could put them in harm's way. So, on this third anniversary, the beginning of the liberation of Iraq, I think all Americans should offer thanks to the men and women who wear the uniform, and their families who support them. We are implementing a strategy that will lead to victory in Iraq. And a victory in Iraq will make this country more secure, and will help lay the foundation of peace for generations to come.
May God continue to bless our troops in harm's way. Thank you.
The added emphasis is mine. This less than two full minute speech reminds me of something that would only be said on Veteran's Day or Memorial Day. But, it does remind me that as an Airman I should be thankful to my family who supports me every day. The family that waves at the C-5 as it takes off; the family that makes coming home a truly remarkable event just by being there to pick me up.
However, it also reminds me that people that don't even know me hate me because of what I do. It reminds me of the knee jerk reaction that liberals have whenever the President says something. They don't listen to the words they make up stuff like the title of this AP article, Bush Marks Anniversary, Never Says 'War'. It leads me to believe that the media doesn't care about those protecting the freedom that keeps them in business. Liberals in general are the thorn in my morale; the supposed party of piece has become so unhinged that I'm just waiting for the Vietnam-ish treatment of troops coming home (there have been a few incidents but nothing as widespread as that era).
Folks, please read what the President said and take it into consideration. If you don't like what the President is saying then please read, Support the Troops and Their Wishes.

Then I read this at Misha's:
WAYNESBURG - A Canton man has been charged with the rape and murder of a 7-month-old infant he was baby-sitting.Police said Henry A. Sunderman, 32, of 3117 Tuscarawas St. W, Apt. A-3, in Canton, raped and killed his niece, Zoey Sunderman, on Friday. Sunderman was baby-sitting the girl, her two sisters and a brother.
Zoey was the youngest.
She was pronounced dead at Akron Children’s Hospital at 2:02 p.m. Friday. The Summit County medical examiner was doing an autopsy Saturday; it said the case was under investigation and did not release a cause of death. But Stark County Jail records said Sunderman admitted he had penetrated the baby’s anus with his finger, “causing severe tearing and trauma, resulting in the death of the victim.”
I will never, ever renounce my support for the death penalty.
I watched an MSNBC Investigates show tonight on the Wabash, IL level 4 prison. The place had more amenities than the nursing home my mother is in.
F**k life in prison without parole for animals like this.

From MercuryNews.com:
Google has mysteriously downgraded the search ranking of a Web site geared to help parents care for young children, causing a "cataclysmic fall" in advertising revenue and the number of monthly page views, according to a class-action lawsuit filed Friday. It will be interesting to see how this case develops. I'd suspect that Google will act to prevent class-action status. The civil suit by KinderStart.com of Norwalk seeks financial damages and more information about Google's secret method for ranking sites. The suit, filed in U.S. District Court in San Jose, seeks class-action status for other sites that have seen their rankings drop without warning or explanation from the Mountain View search giant.
A Google spokesman told the Associated Press that the company hadn't seen the suit and had no immediate comment.
Since it launched in May 2000, KinderStart.com had built up its traffic to more than 10 million page views a month, the suit says, with much of the traffic coming from Google search users. But in March 2005, page views plunged 70 percent and advertising revenue fell 80 percent and hasn't recovered. KinderStart.com suspects that Google erected invisible barriers that divert consumers elsewhere when they type in a search but says Google will not explain what happened.
The drop-off was so sudden that the Web site suspects Google has a flawed method or blocks sites subjectively despite Google's pledge to provide objective search results.
