1 While Israel does have some kind of responsibility towards the Palestinians (after all, they conquered the land the Palestinians live on), I think it's more reprehensible that all of the Arab countries in the Middle East have been in a position to help the Palestinians for decades and never have. Instead, they (the Arab countries) have been using the Palestinians as a playing card against each other and the West to further their own goals. Palestinian statehood would be a huge negative for them if it ever came to total fruition.

3 Don't kid yourselves that the Arabs care at all about the Palestinians. They don't - as demonstrated in "Black September" when Jordan shot about 10 000 of them. Arab "support" for the Palestinians is only because they hate Israel worse. As for how Israel "conquered the land the Palestinians live on" that's not entirely correct either. Notwithstanding that it was the Arabs who invaded Israel in 1948, not the other way around, the Arabs in the area fled on the advice of other Arab countries who figured they would win the war after which they could return victorious. Unfortunately the Arabs lost and they've been bitter about it ever since.

5 Good Question; I've been asking that same question myself but still Israel gets away with doing just about anything they want. Ariel Sharon wants the Palestinians wiped off the face of the earth and they are doing it little by little and sometimes a lot by a lot and despite what the useless UN does or says or the World Court says or does, Ariel Sharon coninues to do whatever he wants. I do not know why but are they afraid of them? Or are they letting him get away with more than they would any other country because of what happened in the past? It's not like they can't protect themselves; they've just taken it a step further and it's time someone really stomped on him and put in a leader who is fair, justified, and able and willing to promote peace. Ariel Sharon is not that man. Many of the jews themselves despise that man and his party; it is up to the jews in Israel (whom have already protested against him) and the Europian countries to put this man in his place and that place is in jail. My best friend growing up was Jewish and I went to a Catholic School. I know for a fact that this family does not agree with Sharon and glad it's not on our land. I don't care what the PLO did in the past but what they have had to put up with from the Israeli government is just plain simply wrong - they are prisoners in the destructive area that h allows them to live in and NO ONE has that right to play GOD. 7 I think the UN and most western nations support Israel for one reason. Past suffering may play a part. However, I believe support comes from one main issue. Israel doesn't vow to kill all Palestinians and Muslims in the middle east. The Palestinians call for death to all Jews. Drive them into the sea is their call. The rest of the Arab world really doesn't give a shit about the Palestinians. They are considered a 3 class, conquered people. A pawn in religious politics at best. To me, screw them, they danced in the streets when 3000 people were cowardly slaughtered at the World Trade Center. I cannot forgive them for this. 11 The jewish community bought much of the land from the palestinians before the UN mandate to create a Zionist state. Many palistinian husbands and fathers willingly sold them the land. Yes, the European countries made things worse by createing a Jewish state, but much of the land belonged to them (jewish buyers) already. Yes, the Arabic countries were bitter about losing the war, but instead of looking to the real reasons why they lost, they rebelled further into ideocratic states, and continued to isolate themselves from each other in part to western influence and in a larger part due to religious and clan based differences. This is what we see today within the middle-eastern states. Much hatred based on religion and past clan based wars. Palestine became a convienent and easy scapegoat. A symbol of western oppression, when in reality the other Arab states could have constructively helped them, but they largely "helped" by spouting hatred towards the west and creating further ideolistic schisms. We are all people, more alike than different. We all want our kids to have a better life than we did. That lesson has been lost largely in that area and people feel trapped in their lives. That on top of the hatred, killing, religion and politics will never be resolved until all sides can really forgive and treat each other with compassion. Now it has degenerated into "us vs. them" on so many levels that I believe no side will ever have peace. Both sides have plenty of sins to atone for and both sides need to find understanding before anyone could have hope of peace. I fear that the easy way (guns, war, murder) will be the only way and that the strong way (understanding and forgiveness) will appear to hard to find.
