All of this leads me to believe that both the FBI and CIA are operating in pre-911 mode when it comes to dealing with the presence of terrorist organizations on the internet. These sites should be treated as military targets and taken down. Instead, the FBI treats terrorism on the internet as a criminal matter.

Explain to me how it is a bad thing to have anyone interested in supporting or joining Hamas send their ip addresses and with it, their real world physical locations to a website hosted in America?

Except that they use internet cafes and libraries to upload their propaganda. Hence, the IP addresses are not as nearly as important as you might initially think.
Again, that is pre-911 thinking. This is not a criminal investigation, it is a war. In war, you take out the assets of the enemy.

A subpeona would get the info from the registrars, would bust the "whois protection" service.

I think- or hope at least- that you are misunderestimating our spooks.
Deception is vital to defeating a guerilla opponent. There are some strategies that only work if the opponent is unaware of the strategy.
I really want to say more because I like being right, but winning this war is more important than me being right, so patriotism requires discretion on this issue.

I wish I was. I don't think I am. I will be publishing some pretty shocking stuff about this pretty soon.

Let's see now ... terrorist linked sites posting with abandon while the FEC is ruminating over rules to shut down any American that blogs about any issue that may have political connotations ...
yeah, that's the ticket ...

Report it anyway, Rusty; that's our job. I would love a job with the FBI or CIA or even for Missing Children. They are using people at home, like myself, on the computer, to find these bastards. Maybe they just don't know it, Rusty, so again, I say report it and see what happens. We have got to stop them from communicating.
