Muslims Sue Denny's Over Discrimination

A group of seven Muslims is suing Denny's because a night manager refused to serve them saying, "We don't serve Bin Laden's here ... You're not welcome here anymore."

Ok, that much sounds like it's within the realm of the possible. After all, there are a lot of biggoted jerks in this country. But here is the part that raises the old suspicion meter.

"Two officers from the Miami-Dade and Homestead police departments eating at the Denny's asked the seven men to leave the restaurant, and said they would arrest them if they didn't, the lawsuit said."

Then there is the same event described like this, "But when one of the plaintiffs requested a police report of the incident, a female officer refused and pulled out her handcuffs.

She then ordered the men to ''Get out, get out!'' the men claim."

That just seems a little far-fetched. I mean, Sheriff Roscoe P. Coletrain wasn't even that big of a redneck.

1 I worked at a Denny's in Florida. When first hired, they sat you down and made you watch videos about how refusing to serve someone because of race or religion or gender etc is never acceptable. I also talked to one of the managers about a situation in another Denny's where she was manager where some guys came in, ordered steaks all around, and then claimed to have found a metal staple in one of their steaks, and demanded a free meal. The manager investigated, and found that staples are not used in any of the packaging (all cardboard and glue), so she told them they were full of shit, and if they shut up and paid for their meal, she wouldn't call the police. They then called a local news station and there was the "I'm here live at a Denny's restaurant where 4 black men are claiming that they were the victims of racism" charade. So yeah, I have doubts about this story.

2 The Sun-Sentinel said the is NOT reasonable cause to support the claim and the Herald said there IS reasonable cause. I wonder which it is. And I always hate it when people wait for a long period of time to file a suit, conveniently waiting just long enough for any witnesses to be unavailable and for memories to become fuzzy. I'm in the restaurant business and I see this all the time. And it always amazes me that these people who file such claims never did anything wrong to provoke anyone. It's more likely that Denny's was just busy at 2am. That's when the bars close and everyone goes out for breakfast. Their food probably took a long time and they likely got obnoxious. I see this all the time too. I'm one of those sitting there with a buzz, waiting for my breakfast. However, I don't get obnoxious. I'm a happy drunk.

3 Is it not true that private establishments can refuse to serve anyone for any reason, but if they choose to serve you they must provide equal service to all. I have seen signs on places that say "we reserve the right to refuse service to anyone for any reason" Where they screwed up is they served drinks. That to me is a defacto acceptance of these men as patrons and indicates they were treated diffrently than other patrons. The bigot may have been within his rights had the previous quote been posted and they were asked to leave before they were served drinks and the order was taken. As for the cops. If these gentlemen had been asked to leave and did not they are tresspassing regardless of any prior discrimination and the cops are OK in enforcing the owner/managers wishes. I predict Denny's will loose the suit or settle.

4 Considering that Arabs lie as easily as they breathe, I call bullshit on the accusations.

5 Dennys is such an easy target for this stuff. We havent heard of Muslims being banned from Best Buy, in/out burger or Ihop. But we do hear about it again from Dennys. Dennys gets it because its high profile to blame them and they seem easy enough to bend over and take it in the rusty bullithole. I think we are at war, i think that for the most part, our enemy wears its religion on its sleeve and can be as easily spotted as a german accent in Idaho in 1945. We know our enemy, why for the sake of political correctness as we pandering to it? If what happened at Dennys is true, then I am all for it until I know our soldiers are safe. If its not true, its just another reason for segregation of these clowns. I cant claim that I beleive our reasons for fighting are as upfront as we are led to beleive, but we are there, we are fighting and a line has been drawn where for good or bad, we now have an enemy. Lets win it before we get 'nammed'

7 I think 9/11 has clouded this nation in ignorance and discrimination. That is why idiots shot innocent Sikh people shortly after because "they looked like the taliban." That is why the other day I saw a bumper sticker on some hick's car saying "Everything I know about Islam I learned on 9/11". How else do you explain this stupidity? I also think Improbulus Maximus is a racist jackass. I think Arctica has lost the plot. Muslims are not our enemy. The terrorists are. The terrorist's sole purpose is to promote this conflict as a "holy war" in order to make a political statement. For every ignorant prick that gives in to this bullshit, they score a victory. So you can either choose to maintain an open mind or give in and help the terrorists.

8 Jim, it's funny how Libs always seek to justify the actions of our enemies. Like blaming America for 9/11, blowback, anti-Americanism, etc. You get the picture. In other words, it's always our fault, we did something to deserve it. But Leftists will never accords Americans the same benefit. We are never provoked. Nobody ever does stuff to make us dislike them. It's always our fault. When we dislike folks, when we react negatively, it's proof to you Leftists that Americans are morons. Jim, you're a LEFTIST. You're a guilt-ridden self-loather, not an intellectual. You aren't brighter than us. You're a moron. If some people learned all they need to know on 9/11, there's a reason for that. And the reason is that muslims are hysterical about islamophobia, but show no apparent concern for islamofascism. They claim they are the fastest growing religion in the world, counted in the billions. Yet they are invisible when it comes to the war on terror. But they complain fulltime about nasty looks and "misconceptions" about their religion. When they start speaking out about terrorism the way they complain about Dennys, then we'll consider them our friends. Until then, we'll keep a watchful eye on them. And for all the good muslims out there, like you Anwar, no disrespect intended towards you. My ire isn't directed at islam, but at muslims.

9 How come Greg's not here defending everyone but America? I gaurantee you this situation is not what we're hearing. I would wager they got pissed because it was busy and their food took too long and they got mouthy about it and the manager told them to leave. I see it all the time.

10 Oyster, They should have all gone into the restroom, pissed on the floor and then called the Health Department.

11 Carlos, I love how you try to hide the anger that has built up inside you during your feeble attempt at an argument. It is obvious you have let hate overcome you. As have many Americans. You are exactly the kind of person I am talking about. You have said such idiotic things before such as "all terrorists are muslims" and I have discounted that several times without a single retort by you so its obvious your material is tired. I have NEVER justified the actions of terrorists. I never will. I don't discuss whether or not America deserved an attack because I don't want to trivialize the loss of human life no matter which side it is on. Yet, one thing that DOES bother me is this country's childish "you hit me I will kill you" mentallity. I am not talking about the government (although they have shown glimpses) but rather the majority of its citizens. People like you who think that because 3000 Americans died, we must ensure that 300,000 of theirs die in return. People like that make me sick. People who think that in order to "help the cause" they have to shoot a Sikh or beat up a muslim or become a racist make me sick. No, I don't justify the actions of our enemies. But I will denounce the actions of Americans who become worse than our enemies when they resort to the same filth. You say that I think you are a moron when you react negatively? Damn right I do. If the whole world "reacted negatively" every time something upset them we would all be dead or at each other's throats. You obviously are too selfish to realize how stupid that sounds. I am not saying you can't get upset about 9/11. Of course you can. But don't let that cloud your judgement when it comes to discrimination and racism. When you do, you become no better than the terrorists. How would you feel if you saw these bumper stickers: "Everything I know about Catholicism I learned from Child Molesters" or "Everything I know about Christianity I learned from the Oklahoma City federal building bombing" or "Everything I know about stupid people I learned from Carlos" See how ridiculous this shit is? So do me a favor. Next time something makes you upset, instead of worrying about how negatively you should react, instead think about whether you should react negatively at all. I hate to see people like you live their lives in torment because its obvious you had an uneasy childhood or got in a lot of fights. Don't let your built up anger control your life buddy.

12 Do we need any more reason to have tort reform> we can no longer allow a bunch of greedy trial lawyers run our country into bankruptcy to line their pockets
