Not sure whether or not to award that kid the Gigantic Set Of Brass Ones Award or to give him the Even Though I'm A Teenager, I Should Be Chained In The Backyard Just To Keep Me Alive award.
As an American, I honor this young man's fortitude and perservance.
As a parent, I wonder how in the Hell do I keep my 8 year old from doing the same thing in the future.
Wait, got that covered. My son wants to thumb his nose at family history and join the Marine Corps.

Just read that story on Fox website..unbelievable, he truly is lucky to be alive. Not gonna happen to my kids because first off..they don't have $900 I've given them because I don't have $900! Can I be their kid?!
Because we're such a great country though, some publisher will pick up his stuff, make a book..who knows maybe a movie and he'll be living the high life! Way to go!

As even we Navy folks know, there's no such thing as an "ex" marine.
The kid would still have some 'splainin' to do - his mother sounds an awful lot like another Ferris' mommy. I was mostly glad to read that it wasn't another Rachel Corrie moment.

Two nights in Baghdad and the kid contacts the media??? Cause we all know the best way to understand how the average Iraqi lives is to contact the Western media with a story about how a middle class American kid of Iraqi descent made a trip to Iraq. It's so much easier to understand the average Iraqi while giving media interviews from inside the Green Zone.
Sorry, but the words attention whore come to mind. The kid's definitely going to get some book or made for tv movie out of this, though.
