Fox News Holiday Ornaments?

IMPORTANT UPDATE: The Fox News Store is now selling Christmas ornaments for Christmas trees.

Real Teen has tipped me off to a story that is just somewhat baffling. The FOX News Shop is selling ornaments this year but not just any ornaments holiday ornaments; not Christmas tree ornaments:

Fox NEWS Holiday Ornaments

You'd think a cable news channel with Bill O'Reilly who has been saying that Christmas is under attack and that he doesn't think it's right and then you have John Gibson who has a published book titled, The War on Christmas: How the Liberal Plot to Ban the Sacred Christian Holiday Is Worse Than You Thought would be smart enough to have Christmas tree ornaments for sale.

The ultra-liberal blog, Daily Kos is calling Bill O'Reilly a hypocrite and thinks that all of us Conservatives will follow suit giving Fox News a pass on this one. I have to say that those Kos readers will be sadly disappointed when they realize that Christmas is here to stay and that no store or news network will get a pass on this one.

Real Teen is lobbying bloggers to call for a boycott of the Fox News Channel if they don't change the wording from holiday tree and holiday ornament to Christmas tree and Christmas ornament. The boycott will start on Saturday, December 3, 2005 at 1930 EDT. You should express your concern to those at Fox News via one of these methods:

Fox News Contact Page
(88 369-4762
comments@foxnews.com
1211 Avenue of the Americas
New York, NY 10036

I'm sure if reilly@foxnews.com">Bill O'Reilly and John Gibson were alerted to this they'd be furious too so you might as well drop them a line.

Merry Christmas,
Chris Short

UPDATE: PROGRESS! Already the titles of the products have been changed to Christmas Ornament but the term holiday tree still exists. The boycott stands until holiday tree is changed to Christmas tree:

1 A possibly bigger offense is charging $9.95 for a FOX and Friends ornament. The few times I have caught that program, it always reminded me how great homicide could be if only I put my mind to it.

2 What a sly way to garner publicity.

4 "I don't give a rat's ass about 'winter solstice' or any other bizarre crap" and "for the record, I am Christian." Yeah right, in the spirit of the good Lord? "A possibly bigger offense is charging $9.95 for a FOX and Friends ornament. The few times I have caught that program, it always reminded me how great homicide could be if only I put my mind to it." Lets talk about offence you meathead. This article had the Political Teen as a reference. They have no problem making a stink about this nonsense, but give a good impression for those who adhere to Nazi bigotry (anyone from this site got a clue?).

5 My mouth is hanging open over that one. ------------------------- Beth, I'm not Christian. When someone says Merry Christmas to me, I'm not offended and I don't consider them rude or lacking in manners. A lot of people who are not Christian find the "Happy Holidays" slogan to be condescending - not polite or even PC. When someone says Happy Channukah to me, I am still not offended. You could say "Happy Go To Hell Day" and I wouldn't be offended. Unless, of course, slapping my face was part of the greeting. I think it's especially wrong that stores would abandon the word Christmas in such an overt manner yet find it proper to use Kwanza or Channukah in some advertisements and displays. "HAPPY HOLIDAYS! WE HAVE GREAT CHANNUKAH GIFTS!" It's not so much that they want to be inclusive. It's that they're being specifically exclusive.

6 Agent Brown says "May this be a very un-Merry Christmas to you, Bin Laden." Agent Smith says with a crick of the neck, "Usama, I'm going to enjoy watching you die."

7 Let's put Christ back in Christmas !!! For at least 50 years this hoilday has been a whole lot more about retail sales then religion. At this point trying to return to religion would cause a huge economic recession.

8 Happy Festivus! Anyone who happens to pass through Knoxville on Midwinter Day, (Dec 21), can drop by for a hearty Festivus dinner, then Airing of Grievances around the Festivus Pole, followed by Feats of Strength, which will end once I, the host, have been pinned, at which point I will release the hounds to see off my guests, accompanied by celebratory fireworks. (A personal touch I added to the tradition). Let us now tell the story of how Festivus began... Frank Costanza: "Many Christmases ago, I went to buy a doll for my son. I reached for the last one they had, but so did another man. As I rained blows upon him, I realized there had to be another way." Cosmo Kramer: "What happened to the doll?" Frank Costanza: "It was destroyed. But out of that a new holiday was born . . . a Festivus for the rest of us!"

9 Ah, yes. Sort of like the running of the shoppers? I tie-strap horns to the front of my cart and run down the aisles yelling MoooOOOOOooove!

11 jawapuke sounds like one of those nice tolerant compassionate leftists. Talking about murdering hosts of TV shows ... last time I looked, Nazis were left-wing (National Socialists) and just about every bigot I know is a leftist, especially the anti-Christian bigots. They spew their bile and venom all over the place. They are as bad or even worse than the anti-Semites on the left (many are one and the same).

12 Leftie bigot? Maybe there's some new PC definition of bigot, or you count the Klan as leftist. Do you guys (or Goys) really think Christmas is under attack, just because some retailers happen to remember the hellbound spend money as well? Remember, the Puritans outlawed Christmas as a heathen celebration, and un-Biblical as well. Keep Christ in church, and enjoy your Saturnalia, whatever you call it.
