Zarqawi Threatens to Behead Japanese Hostage

UPDATE: Updated post "Zarqawi Releases Beheading Video of Japanese Victim" here. If you are looking for the latest news and information on a more recent beheading/ murder video released by the terrorist bastards, PLEASE GO TO THE MAIN PAGE HERE.

Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, the leader of the group formerly knows as Tawhid wal Jihad and now renamed 'Al-Qaida's Committee in Mesopotamia', has released a videotape of a Japanese hostage. In the video, Zarqawi threatens to behead the Japanese hostage "if Tokyo did not withdraw its troops" within 48 hours. Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi has stated that all Japanese troops would remain in Iraq and Japan has denied that any members of it's military are missing.

According to Reuters, the terrorist group gave "...the Japanese government 48 hours to withdraw its troops from Iraq or this infidel will meet the same fate as [Nick] Berg ... and the other infidels." The man on the video does not appear to be a member of the military and it is unknown at this time what he was doing in Iraq. Japan has about 550 troops in Iraq, all of which are engaged in non-combat infrastructure building activities.

According to Channel News Asia via Simon, Japanese TV station NHK is reporting that the hostage is 24 year old Akio Koda. It is not known why Koda was in Iraq. NHK describes him as a drifter who has been out of contact with his parents for months. In the hostage video, the terrorists claim to have evidence that Koda had recently been in Israel and in Jordan recently.

1 Japan should take whoever released the video captive as hostage for the hostage. Go back up the chain until you get the terrorists. They do it for publicity, don't let them have it.

2 If I'm a drifter...I don't go to Iraq. No way. No how. Lets hope they release him.

3 I think an old fashioned, samurai ass-whoopin' is in the future of the Islamofacists. That does not bode well for Zarquawi. The Japanese aren't to be toyed with. They make good swords and are not afraid to use them.

4 I'm not sure it's such a good idea for Al Qaeda to awaken in the Japanese the their historical sense of warrior honor. If it came right down to it, they could put Al Qaeda to shame in that area. Come to think of it, I don't think anyone wants to reawaken that sense in the Japanese. These throw-back Islamists act like they believe they invented the idea of the suicide warrior. It was considered an "art" in Japan, before Muhammed was a pup.

5 Oh God what next? Maybe something good will come out of this and Japan will do something about it. Who is delivering these videos to Al Jazeera for publication on the internet and other media sources??? That's a good start...get those bastards first, then up the chain of command until you get Zarqawi. I think his days are numbered anyway.

6 Can someone explain something to me? If we ignore the terrorists' demands and don't give in, that means that they will just continue to behead innocent civilians and workers one by one? When will this end? Since we are not bowing down to them, what else besides blowing the place to smitherenes, can we do?? I am really trying to understand all this.

7 I think that for every beheaded person the goverment of that poor souls nationality should send 1000 more troops. After awhile the terrorist will get it and stop those cowardly acts.

8 Nah, just take those prisoners they say we have, and make videos of their asses and send THEM to Al Jazeera!
