No, I didn't see the debate

I was in class. That's right, I teach a night class. Biggest TV event of the year and I'm teaching class!! I mean, this is bigger than the new season of Chappelle and here I am stuck talking about a debate that I haven't even seen yet. Life sucks sometimes.

Eeew. 90 minutes of John Kerry was plenty. Where on earth did they get him from? The fella would make winning the lottery sound tedious. That guy needs to liven up a bit before he starts to go in reverse.

I did it the fun way: I opened up about umpteen million windows and scanned all the live blogging action. Very fun. Particularly Fraters Libertas. And it's more than just fun, of course, since I really don't have much patience for either candidate's speaking style. It's a sanity saver.

Dr. Rusty, Sorry you couldn't be there, but there is a lot of liveblogging going on (including mine), and you can check out those real-time opinions. Steve Bragg DOUBLE TOOTHPICKS--Worldviews Behind The News

They are replaying it on c-span. I just caught, again, where Kerry says there are constant wmd's crossing the borders and they're blowing everybody up with the stuff.... gosh, I hate that man. Go see JT's insight at wizbang. You'll enjoy it, except after that interview above, I'd be so damn angry, I would not be able to write again for awhile. ~C

man you missed out. as much as i hate the fool, i felt bad for bush squirming around in the hot seat like Huck Finn at the preacher's supper table. it amazes me that such a seemingly incompetent, slow-witted, un-savvy, poorly-spoken, uninformed simpleton (no i can look beyond a Texas accent)can rise through the ranks to head, arguably, the globe's "highest" office. and i'm not even a kerry fan.

It's hard being a responsable adult: I've produced about 7500 healthy meals since I had my kids. And they're still little!

Jack......gotta agree with ya. Bush makes Forest Gump look quick. And to think that this man is in charge of the single most powerful country in the world? Frightening stuff really.

Problem with any of this stuff is that the President is the guy who has had to make the decisions. Some may have been wrong and some may have been right. It is easy in retrospect to see the ones that turned out wrong and concentrate your attack on those issues. The question is, what would Kerry have done faced with the events of 9/11? Not what he says he would have done NOW, but what would he have done THEN. We'll never know and he'll never know. He talks about the days when he fought for his country to the point of boredom. Now he appears to be fighting against it. By all accounts, one of the roles of Government is to protect its people from foreign invasion. 9/11 was devastating and unprecedented. No American could have fore-seen it but once it happened it takes resolve to ensure it never happens again. Bush is your man.

Agreed Red Devil and totally disagree with Jack and James. I'm sorry, guys, but just because Bush is quieter, softer, easier on the mannerisms, does not make him a debaterless. I thought he did excellent and if I could I would shake his hand. I was extremely proud of how he handle himself and his time limits. You see Kerry standing there tall and skinny in colors Bush would normally wear, being abrupt, condescending, not knowing his facts, being stupid, shaking his head, being contradictory while on the other side you have a man of totally different ways about him letting the other guy know that is not how you lead a nation; it's not how you make alliances and down right spelling out the damn truth. He looked into the camera, he looked into the people's eyes and he did not let Kerry rattle his cage. What show were you watching? President Bush was excellent despite his quiet and calm demeanor. Kerry was as obtrusive as ever and couldn't move forward. Remember this: Kerry said that he defended the nation as a young man and he will defend this nation as President. Anybody really want THAT guy who defended our nation as a young man who didn't know the difference between war and it's warriors, to lead this nation with this reality that we are facing today??? He spoke about all the nuclear stuff hanging around in the former Soviet Union and that it has not been collected - think about that when a terrorist bombs a place, a person, a society. He literally told the WORLD it's out there for your taking! Remember Checknya, Georgia, Russia and all the other countries that came out of the Fall of the Former Soviet Union. Hey, why didn't he just hand out the map of where everything is, if indeed anyone knows where anything is, and give it to these radical muslims? He knocked Putin, where Bush says Russia is a country of change and even though he does not agree with Putin on not letting it be a democracy over there, it seems Putin does listen to Bush. And then he knocked Allawi - he wasn't even there but he still knocked Allawi who is going around doing everything he can to get help for his country and against the terrorists. He said our troops were not properly being taken care of because they have no body armor, the humvee's and other vehicles are not protected well enough for the occupants inside, but he voted against giving the 97 Million to the troops! He said the war on terrorism is not centralized in Iraq (but it's damn close) and that it was Osama Bin Laden who attacked us, not Saddam Hussein whom he also said was a THREAT. He said the President outsourced the capture of Bin Laden to Afghan warlords. AFGHAN WARLORDS?? Don't they have a govt in place? Aren't they preparing for elections right now? And THE SPECIAL FORCES are in Afghanistan looking for Bin Laden, whom I believe is dead, as well as other troops from other nations. He also said we don't have a coalition when there are 30 countries involved in this, who can be involved in this, and many other instances where the things he stated were absolutely WRONG. BUSH did a better job in this debate because he had the answers, he had the reasons, he had what the question required, and he was right. So who won the debate? BUSH DID. Hands Down All the way. Kerry as a President would be the biggest mistake this country could ever make. So I must disagree with your comments regarding President Bush's manner during this debate. ~C ~Cindy

wow cindy. you really are willingly blind. you in the christan right amaze me. always have.

Cindy......we have crossed swords, numerous times, metaphorically speaking of course. Perhaps we were watching a different debate, but if you are trying to tell me that Bush's performance was superior to that of kerrys, I can see little point in trying to convince you otherwise, because you are either blind deaf or worse, so blinded in your admiration for a man who is clearly mentally handicapped. Bushes peformance was cretinous. He stood there like a poor defence less animal blinded by the light. Just because he was quiet and nervous doesn't make him sincere, it confirms his inability to articulate under pressure, kind of important for a President, would you not say? With a bit of luck in the forthcoming election, Bush will be retired, Kerry will be President and perhaps the US's credibility will be restored somewhat. Believe me, no rational person, either in America or across the world wants a complete tosser like Bush returned to office.
