Which is nice.
If I understand this correctly, I think Comedy Central or maybe Skinemax ought to make a move on this guy for an ongoing Ace of Spades Lifestyle special. Long in the tooth veteran JYB is getting overlooked, as is undervalued rookie defensive superstar (Dude works at the Pentagon!) Dave.

Your 2005 Weblog Award Voting Guide
First off, here's the graphic for Rusty to put in the sidebar, if he's so inclined:

And now, Vinnie's voting guide to the 2005 Weblog Awards:
The Jawa Report for Best Conservative Blog (duh!)
Vince Aut Morire for Best of the 501-1000 Ecosystem Rankings (double duh! and may I note that before I moved to mu.nu, I WAS in the 200's)
Armies of Liberation, also for Best of the 501-1000 Ecosystem Rankings. (I admire Jane's work so much, I'll be voting for her too)
Merri Musings for Best New Blog (triple duh! She's my wife, if I don't vote for her, I ain't gettin' any)
My Vast Right Wing Conspiracy for Best of the Top 250 Ecosystem Rankings (unfortunately, Wizbang turned down my request for Best Link Pimp)
Six Meat Buffet for Best Humor/Comics Blog (bastard)
The Llamabutchers for Best Culture/Gossip Blog (huh? Since when did they get culture?)
Michael Yon for Best Media/Journalist Blog (no comment necessary)
Iraq the Model for Best Middle Eastern/Africa Blog
Free Thoughts for Best European Non UK Blog
Those are my hard votes. Nothing or no one will dissuade me from them.
The rest of the finalists, however, are more than welcome to suck up to me either in the comments or at vinceautmorire@gmail.com.
Good luck and let the (friendly!) blog wars begin!
One last thing. Two extremely good blogs did not make it into the finalists. You should be reading them anyway.
Clarity And Resolve

(sooper sekrit note to Rusty, yes, this is a shameless blogroll request for these two. You owe me for the award I gave you last year. Heh.)

Senior Chechnyan al Qaeda Leader Reportedly Killed in Suicide Blast
The Counterterrorism Blog reports that Abu Omar Mohammed bin Abdullah al-Saif, a Saudi al Qaeda in Chechnya commander, has killed himself in Dagestan to avoid capture by Russian forces:
Unable to escape after Russian soldiers backed by helicopters surrounded his temporary hideout, Abu Omar allegedly detonated an explosive device he was carrying and collapsed the building on top of himself. Known as the "Imam of the Chechen mujahideen", Abu Omar was an original founder of the Arab-Afghan mujahideen movement in Chechnya and was named by Russian officials as a suspect in numerous Caucasus-linked terrorist attacks, including the Moscow theatre siege and the Beslan school hostage massacre.
The Counterterrorism Blog has more, including a 2000 interview with Abu Omar.

Al Jazeera Video Debunked By Fox
Al Jazeera continues to report that a video they obtained depicts Thursday's attack on US Marines, even though it has already been debunked by military sources as canned video from an unrelated incident that happened earlier.

Their website also displays false information about the video:
Aljazeera broadcast a video on Saturday from a group called the Islamic Army in Iraq showing the attack on the US patrol near Falluja on Thursday, the deadliest attack on US troops for four months.
The truth behind the video was revealed earlier today on
Fox News (watch "Terror Tape" video), in an interview with American Colonel Barry Johnson from Baghdad. The video being played on al Jazeera depicts troops moving along a street accompanied by a Humvee. The Marines were attacked in a courtyard; no Humvee was present.
Sometime this afternoon al Jazeera added a paragraph deep in the body of the story saying that the video is unconfirmed. They continue to feature a still from the video with a caption saying it is of Thursday's attack.
A more strongly worded version of this post is at The Dread Pundit Bluto. Caution: may be offensive to little pussy lickspittle quislings.

Just to add to Greyroosters comments...Mate, there are alos Australians working for Al Jazeera at present. I too believe that these people are traitors as sightings of Al Jazeera camermen on the streets of Iraq was considered a combat indicator that an IED or VBIED attack may be about to occur. This actually did happen to an Australian Light Armoured Vehicle (ASLAV) in Karrada on 25 Oct 05. So, to all the Australians working for Al Jazeera...reconsider your employment on were your loyalities lie...no more Australian casualties!

But they made a movie about his life? He writes children books! he only murdered four people?
You'd think if Hitler had built wooden toys for a living after the war, the left would have nominated him for a Nobel peace prize, too.

If the protesters spent such time and energy rallying around the families he destroyed, they might make the world a better place. They don't see the difference (as is par for the course with some on the left, you know ... the black and white world they live in?) between sowing terror by killing inncocent people purposefully and the meting out of harsh justice to those who commit such heinous crimes. Mind-boggling isn't it?

Cases like these happen every once in a while. They are annoying but typical.
Why doesn't the left and celebrities get creative! Convince the families of the victims to agree. Make them an offer - its an old tradition - blood money. Let the families decide! Come on celebrities ! You've got millions! Pony up.
Victims have families and families have suffered - Money wouldn't bring back the dead but may help ease the suffering and hardships endured by the families. So make them an offer. Put your money where your mouth and heart is - it will make you feel better and good about yourselves.
I know - it sounds a lil' perverse - but I'll let the victims families make that discision. There are bills to pay, kids to send to colleges, mortages etc.

NBC Reaches Out to Religious Viewers
With a Vicodin-addled Episcopal priest who drives Jesus around in his station wagon. Hey, they ate up the

Dude, I have to admit
The Passion of the Christ screwed me up for days. It was a very upsetting movie. It made me very emotional.
Thinking back on it, I went to see it with my daughter and at one particularly heinous scene I covered my eyes and said, "Oh, god***n." My daughter elbowed me in the ribs for that one. Then a few minutes later, I covered my eyes again and said, "Oh, Jesus," and she elbowed me again and threatened to tape my mouth.

Sounds like it might work as a comedy. Or a lil' insight on the trials and tribulations of the vapid, shinking, listless (formerly mainstream) Episcopal Church or the handful of other "hell bent for new-age liberalism" protestant churches.
Given Hollywood's idea of religion I'm surprised the this year's "Ghost Whisper" and the past "Buffy The Vampire Slayer" aren't promoted for their spiritual content".

moobat: (Shouldn't that be

Jews being so bad as I saw wicked
people so concerned with their status quo and so frightened with the possibility that they may lose their control over the people that they took matters into their own hands and destroyed their source of frustration. Looks like they picked the wrong guy. I've never understood the "The-Jews-Killed-Him" belief. It had little to do with religion and everything to do with power and control. Religion was only a convenient cop-out.

Transmitting Touch Over the Internet
The mind boggles at the potential applications of this technology.
From Silicon.com:
Singapore scientists looking for ways to transmit the sense of touch over the internet have devised a vibration jacket for chickens and are thinking about electronic children's pyjamas for cyberspace hugs.
A wireless jacket for chickens or other pets can be controlled with a computer and gives the animal the feeling of being touched by its owner, researchers at Nanyang Technological University (NTU) told The Straits Times.
The next step would be to use the same concept to transmit hugs over the internet, the researchers said.
The researchers are thinking of some sort of pajamas which would be controlled by the Internet to adjust pressure and temperature and simulate the feeling of being hugged.
Of course, since the technology has only been tested on chickens, some people wonder how the scientists conluded that the sensations chickens feel are hugs and not squeezes or chokes. After all, chickens are usually not seen hugging and discussing the feeling with humans.
Presumably, there's a market for people who want to hug their chickens and children via the Internet. I'm interested in seeing what develops.

(Images/Video) Terrorist Videos Reveal Weakness and Lies of Insurgency
UPDATE: The video has been debunked and is NOT the Fallujah attack but some other attack.
See this post.
The Islamic Army in Iraq has released a video of an IED attack against Marines in Fallujah. The attack killed 10 Marines. Images from the video are posted below. They are not graphic, but may be disturbing.
Al Qaeda in Iraq has also released a video of its Ramadi offensive. Images posteed below and right. For links to video, please e-mail author.
The video shows a Marine patrol and a Hummer rolling down an alley or a narrow road, on which civilians are present. The Hummer passes the Marines as it approaches the terrorist's position. The IED explosion is large and does damage to the Humvee, but the driver inside appears to be able to continue to drive the vehicle. Civilians can be seen panicking and fleeing. The video then becomes shaky as the terrorist flees the scene.
The video reveals why the IED attack was so devestating. Presumably, like most incidents of this nature, the IED was planted with the expectation that it would be exploded as a vehicle or convey passed. The terrorists, it would seem, just got 'lucky' in that on this particular day a foot patrol decided to walk down the wrong alley.
Despite media reports of 'mounting casualties', attacks are down in Iraq. The IED attack reveals that the so-called insurgents cannot mount even an effective attack against U.S. positions.
Yesterday, propagandists for Abu Musab al-Zarqawi's al Qaeda in Iraq posted a message claiming they had taken 'control of Ramadi'. This despite the fact that the terrorists were only able to fire a single mortar shell at a U.S. position and less than 300 U.S. troops and 200 Iraqis were used in the counteroffensive. The counteroffensive turned out to be nothing more than the troops entering Ramadi unnoposed and turned into a routine search and sweep operation.
The only evidence that al Qaeda offered that they 'controlled' Ramadi was a short video by their IMC media arm showing a group of masked young men in cheap warm-up pants and tee shirts slowly going down a narrow alley. There are no more than seven or eight terrorists in the group. That's right, 7-8 terrorists with AK-47's and a single RPG! An image from that video is posted above and a few more are posted below.
Oddly enough, the IMC (Islamic Media Center) cameraman hides from the terrorists while he takes the video. The IMC has recently pledge its loyalty to Osama bin Laden and urged others to do the same. It appears that even the jihadi supporters are afraid of the brave and noble mujahidin!
So, if the 'insurgency' cannot hold any territory, is not very popular in the eyes of even Sunnis these days, and must resort to remotely detonated bombs and hostage taking, in what lies their hope of victory?
The media and spineless politicians in Washington D.C.
The spinmeisters at al Jazeera, Jihad Unspun, and Uruknet report the communique as fact and then, trying to turn this into some grand irony, announce that the Ramadi 'victory' comes only days after Bush announced his strategy for victory. As if a single IED and a handful of sweat-pants clad 'insurgents' are a threat to U.S. victory in Iraq!
It would all be very laughable if the U.S. media wasn't so busy hand-wringing and having LSD induced flashbacks of Vietnam. The media spin then leads the American public to think that this insurgency poses an actual threat and that somehow we cannot win in Iraq. All of this is not helped by the extreme Left wing of the Democratic party which is all to eager to see America lose in Iraq.
Folks, the only threat to our long-term victory in Iraq comes not form the terrorists, but from spineless politicians in the U.S.
Images below.

Of course, the left may tend to argue that the bicycle clip proves the "insurgents" are also eco-warriors who eschew mechanised transport.
On the other hand, don't forget that the principle means of transport of NVA and VC was the bicycle, used to shift many thousands of tonnes of supplies along the Ho Chi Minh Trail.
Historically, all "insurgencies" tend to die after an average of six years of determined suppression. E.g, the Boer rebellion, Malaya and Aden. Viet Nam was an exception, yet it remains perversely touted as some kind of paradigm. The question remains one of having the determination to persist.

Can I just say something about our media? The other day I heard an interview of a reporter in Iraq. He commented on the very videos and pictures shown here and also commented about how the Pentagon issues its press reports.
What amazed me was this MSM reporter took the insurgent's videos and images completely at face-value while commenting on the "spin" the U.S. military uses to issue reports.
When are these media people going to wake up and realize that they're being completely and utterly manipulated by a terrorist insurgency?

Agent Smith researched the 2007 war with Iran and how it played out. Once Iran controlled Sistani-land in the south of Iraq, the retreating Americans were harassed all the way back to Kuwait. It was a bad scene, for which President Bush was finally impeached in the latter half of 2008.

>>>"The question remains one of having the determination to persist."
The Left's only determination is to see the mission fail. They believe failure in Iraq is the only way to regain their political power. Loyalty to party supercedes loyalty to country. They are traitors.

Agent Brown opines on the statement, "Loyalty to party supercedes loyalty to country." Loyalty is a concept that is prevalent in all human societies. Like you, in our quest to secure the core network against all threats, all Agents are fiercely loyal to the Architect and follow every one of his orders, however ridiculous.

Fought for your country? What and that makes you courageous.Like your soldiers are fighting for their country now?You call Having the largest nuclear arsenal, the most sophisticated weaponry built.Spending trillions on reseach to produce even more futuristic weaponry to kill, maim your fellow man, you call that fighting. You might as well be fighting against people who are using sticks and stones!!an example When you Killed Sadams son's obviously they were such a threat anti tank rockets had to be repeatedly fired into that house. That's your idea of fighting? That's why unlike you these, insurgents I call them freedom fighters have had to resort to suicide bombings now there's real balls, that's real courage.Thats something, us living the West will never understand.I suggest you do a bit reading you sound like an older person.BUT surely you can understand when you try to impose your will another persons country. That's like backing people into a corner. Mate! wake up! They're fighting you back with weapons made in the West! Some even made in the good 'ol USA. Have you found Sadams secret stash of WMD?no
Is their a link between 9/11 and Iraq?hell no
Are the Iraqi people better off now then they were under Sadam's Regime?bloody hell no the only difference now is, we the almighty West the saviours are murdering them, and you know why mate BECAUSE THEY ALL LOOK THE SAME!! our coalition forces cannot or will not tell the difference between friend or foe so with our own safety in mind kill anything that moves. The Iraqi's have gone from a stable dictatorship under Sadam to this godforsaken Bloodbath.
So what was this War all about? Control of their resources?Hell yeah If anybody thought that the deaths of hundreds of thousands on whoever's side just to get rid of Sadam, the reason, grow up.If even a quarter of the trillions spent instead of trying to come up with new ways of snuffing out human beings was spent on researching for alternative energy sources. Then the USA truly would be the beacon of democracy, instead of the overfed bully. Then we wouln't be online like bloody kids, throwing insults an our two cents.

...from a stable dictatorship to a godforsaken bloodbath.??????
Actually it was a pretty intense bloodbath prior - simply kept off camera - dictatorships are kinda funny like that.
Now you get to see all the blood courtesy freedom of the press from the media - a democracy is kinda funny like that.
Can't miss the carnage - what with all those car bombings, suicide bombers, beheadings and such. The target of course is the Iraqi people themselves - men, women and children - the oddest thing is that the ones doing this are loyal supporters of Saddam and islamic fundamentalists. Unless of course you believe its American GIs driving the car bombs and strapping explosives to themselves.
Whatever - so when a suicide car bomber kills dozens or a hundred Iraqi civilians do you applaud?
I got to stop - I recognize simple-minded anti-Americanism - not worth pursuing - doubt you could find Iraq on the map or give a damn about them one way or the other.
So, how's the weather down there - coconut crop going to be good this year?

Must say, just came across this site, but HAD to comment here. What amazes me most is that both the both the pro-islamist and the pro-american seemed to think that propaganda only emerges from the other side. Truth is, the DOD has a really tight hold on what information gets fed to the civilian news services . The BBC has done a somewhat better job of genuinse newsgathering, but the american press seems content to act like farm swine willing to take whatever scraps are tossed their way, be they liberal, or conservative. The US army's Psych-Op are doing a bang up job of media spinning a sows ear into a silk purse. The loose affiliation of competing iraqui islamic factions, for the most part also try and dedicate time and resources to dissimate disinformation but have fairly crude methods in my estimation. What i've seen seems to be political fanatics with axes to grind posting, instead of any reasoned analysis overall. That said, and despite all the cows manure being flung over the newswire, Iraq has not been a stable reigion for over half a millenia. Iraq, geographically, has several native/ethnic populations whom only stop fighting each other if they share a joint enemy, or dictator in common. The country is a toilet bowl, and personally i will be shocked to see anything more than perhaps a decade worth of secular democracy being compromised by Syrian, Iranian, and insurgency splinters into complete meaninglessness. There is a few hard facts that seem to escape people on all sides of this debate i've seen publically speculate here...
A) Saddamn Hussain, and Osama Bin Laden were both used extensivly and to great effect by US intellegence services who should have scrubbed their running dogs when they decommissioned them. Bush Sr should have ordered the shot back in 91, and established a resonably secure, permanent base at the time. Instead, now TWO generations of Bush's have done nothing but create a situation where the US will be forced to return to and implement so called "band aid" solutions.
B) Too much attention is being given to the pathetic, splintered Iraqui insurgency when clearly the forces funding, equipping, and motivating these factions lie beyond it's borders. Notably Syria, Iran, and Saudi Arabia.
C) If the west would wean itself off of damned foreign fossil fuels, we could isolate this little crap-hole in Hell and let them busily kill each other until they grew out of political and religious despotism.

On Liquid Courage
After reading
this story about potential pill-popping by "insurgents," I just had to wonder a few things.
Isn't the call to religious jihad enough to inspire true fanaticism? Is the promise of 72 virgins and/or the Divine Protection of the Almighty not enough to inspire courage in all?
And speaking of courage, I know a thing or two about "liquid courage." Being a part of a people who pride themselves on drink, drink, and more drink, I would expect this sort of pill-popping crap from my brothers. But the "insurgents" are far more noble, being Holy Warriors of God, right? They follow strict rules in order to better themselves and obtain the favor of Allah. If these reports are true, I guess there must be a miscommunication between themselves and their Holy Book (and what would the odds be of that hypocracy ever happening in the Religion of Peace?):
"O you who believe, intoxicants, and gambling, and the altars of idols, and the games of chance are abominations of the devil; you shall avoid them, that you may succeed." Quran 5:90
Now I see! The reason we are kicking their asses is because the "insurgents" have gone astray! If only they avoided being meth-heads, they would succeed. If only they had faith, they could truly stand against American and British tanks and destroy them with fireballs from their eyes and bolts of lightning from their arses.
But since intoxicants are the work of the devil, and the United States is the Great Satan, then it follows that OUR government interjected the drugs into these peaceful societies. First the CIA introduces crack into urban communities and now this. Oh, it has all the markings of a KKKarl Rove operation. You magnificent bastard!

Actually hondo, it has been known for a while now that the jihadotards are routinely high as a kite when caught or killed. Even arabs aren't generally stupid enough to stand their ground against US forces. Their drug of choice seems to be opiates.

Yeah, I always have to wonder about the Mirror's validity, hence why I added the words "potential" and "if true," because I do remember some real whoppers served up in the past. If anything, I just find the idea interesting if only because I reflect on the stories of Mohammad Atta going to strip clubs and getting drunk regularly while in Florida... I guess jihadists can be very utilitarian "ends justify means" sort of people, when it comes to themselves that is. If only snoops.com could get to the bottom of this one.

As I posted before : 40 years ago one of the surest ways of identifying a FNG or a REMF was by how much respect they gave the enemy. Googling "drug use among insurgents in Iraq" didn't produce much, one item from nov 2004 in the second battle of fallujah where Marines found adrenaline and amphetamines. Under "opiate use in Iraq" many entries but all seem to be from the same source. with the exact same quotes. "fun fact ....." Of course opiates do have many beneficial medicinal qualities. Great for dysentery and helpful against shock .http://www.israellycool.com/blog/_archives/2005/1/17/251080.html http://www.washingtontimes.com/op-ed/20051121-093501-9601r.htm When deep in the woods I always take along something strong for pain. The Window is Closing
Even as Iran
prepares to kick out inspectors once again, they are arming their sites with Russian SAMS to defend against air attacks. According to
Jed Babbin, who I wish gave a source for that fact, Israel's aircraft will no longer be able to reach Iran's nuclear sites once these high-tech SAMS are in place. Only our stealth fighters will.
Maybe that will give us some clarity. I have been hoping for so long Israel would just go ahead and Osirak some of these sites--obviously we can't get them all, but if we shoot in the middle of the SAMS in, e.g., Nataz or Isfahan. Now either they do it by the time these new SAMS get in place, or we do. And I'm sure they don't want to do it.
Why Russia is so blithely proliferating nuclear weapons is a subject for another post sometime, but it looks to me like the NPT and the IAEA have become about as relevant to international politics as a UN General Council resolution.

What is it with Russia and its seeming inability to find sane leaders? Does Putin just not care that the people he is helping are arming and training the Chechens? I think Putin is just feathering his nest and planning to retire somewhere nice and peaceful while the world tears itself apart. The man is an idiot.
These missiles just add another layer of instability to an already untenable situation, and I don't think it will be long before we have to send our forces into Iran. I just hope that we can get the Iraqi Army up to speed soon enough to free up our troops to invade Iran, which is looking more and more inevitable every day.

Our stealth bombers will take out those SAMS, and Isreal's jets will finish off the job. Then we'll land a marine division on their primary nuke site and secure it against an Iranian counterattack while the Army Corp of Engineers dismantles it real nice and up close. If well coordinated, the entire operation could take less than a day or two and Liberals won't even have time to star whining by the time we withdraw.

The Russians have always valued cash and believe that even if their weapons get turned against them, well, that can always be dealt with later on.....somehow. Plus there's no real shortage of customers eager to hand over their money just to find out that the system doesn't quite work as well as the guy at the defense expo said it would. Hopefully the US and Irael won't have to take any action. It would be sweet if all that Russkie reactor and processing technology suffered a catastrophic failure the same day that the 30 day warranty expires. Then the world could sit back and smile as all requests for clean up assistance is denied. Ahhhh alas tis not meant to be.

Unfortunately Iran's leaders have not read a history book, nor a book on Military tactics because we do not have to _invade_ Iran in order to destroy it. Blanket bombings, and targeted strikes against their military and industrial targets for example.
However, it is unlikely the U.S will have a hand in this, the U.S cannot even substain military action in Iraq, without the "evil Bush" infecting the Media, Congress and citizens, imagine the "Evil empire" banners if the U.S authorized action against Tehran?

Agent Brown says that Israel never permitted IAEA to enter it's territory, but instead allows American inspectors limited access, similar to the way a U.S. state would be checked.
Agent Jones thinks that Iran will cause big problems in the southern "Sistani" section of Iraq they control by proxy and disrupt shipping in the Hormuz straits if their regime is threatened.
Agent Smith concurs.

Officials: CIA missile strike kills al-Qaida No. 3
Another murderous terrorist islamofascist scumbag meets Allah....
ISLAMABAD, Pakistan - The operational commander of al-Qaida and possibly the No. 3 official in the terrorist organization, Hamza Rabia, was killed early Thursday morning by a CIA missile attack on a safehouse in Pakistan, officials told NBC News.
Pakistan's president later confirmed the militant leader's death.
“Yes indeed, 200 percent. I think he was killed the day before yesterday if I’m not wrong,” President Pervez Musharraf told reporters as he arrived in Kuwait on an official visit on Saturday.
While Pakistani officials publicly said Rabia died in a blast caused by explosives stored in a house for bomb-making, officials speaking on condition of anonymity told NBC News he was killed by a CIA missile strike carried out by an unmanned Predator airplane

Okay, let me 'splain the dynamics of a chain-of-command structure; when someone in the chain is killed, everyone under him gets promoted. This is how we keep killing their number two and three guys. At this point, the guys who are currently two and three were probably just messenger boys sometime last year.
It's not really that important that we kill Osama, because we've got him isolated, and he has to keep sending these poor dumbasses out to do his bidding, and they keep getting whacked. With a high casualty rate, that means they have to recruit, which means we can eventually get someone inside, and they may learn where he's hiding, then
KABOOM!, he gets a Hellfire missile up his man-dress.

This is part of the disservice the media and the Administration have done in the war against terror, is that is they have average joe now believes Al Qaeda is a card carrying terrorist club.
In reality it is a loose knit of multiple terrorist organizations. Who is the real "Al Qaeda" muscle? well that would be the Muslim Brotherhood (Egyptian Islamic Jihad).
Who comes from the Egyptian Islamic Jihad:
Ayman al-Zawahri #2 Al Qaeda.
"Blind Sheikh" Omar Abdel Rahman (U.S Custody)
Muhammed Atef (killed by CIA Hellfire strike)
Abdullah Azzam (killed in Carbomb planted by Zawahri/Atef?)
Mohamed Atta (member of the Engineers Syndicate controlled by the Muslim Brotherhood)
In reality it's like this:
"Mohamed Dirka-Dirka" sells explosives to "Muhammed abdul Jihadi"
"Mohamed Dirka-Dirka" belongs to "Islamic Jihadi in Cairo" a known Al-Qaeda frontgroup, "Muhammed abdul Jihadi" belongs to "Islamic Cairo Jihad (SPLITTERS!) now it is said in Intelligence that "Islamic Cairo Jihad" has "operational ties" to Al-Qaeda.
Eventually that becomes "Al-Qaeda frontgroup Islamic Cairo Jihad" as the intelligence increases of their co-mingling.
In reality the command structure is in tiers, you have the obvious top tier:
Bin Laden,Zawahri these are the money, and planning behind the group.
The rest of your command structures follow the lines of their original groups, for most people who think that Saudi/Iran are the biggest radicals in Al-Qaeda most of the top operatives are from Egypt, and fought in Afghanistan together.

OK! Just checking

12
That's another matter Dave, though a very valid point. Unfortunately we are held hostage by our foreign aid Danegeld, that we started paying some decades ago and which has now become an addiction. I wish that we could someday get a government that isn't corrupt from head to toe, and that would stop this idiocy, but sadly, that will never happen as long as the average American idiot voter is willing to accept a place at the trough in exchange for our liberty and security. Frankly, this situation is of our own making, because we have the power to make the government do the right thing, but there are too many among us with a vested interest in the status quo to even consider it, and so we will continue to pay the Danegeld, though it's no longer enough to appease the Danes.
Posted by: Improbulus Maximus at December 03, 2005 02:38 PM (0yYS2)
13
Yep, we are indeed rewarding countries that export radical Islam, Egypt, Saudi Arabia and Yemen to name but a few with Billions of dollars of business, or aid.
The sad fact is that while the administration has said that "you're either for us, or against us" States that export terrorism have frankly, remained untouched without military, or financial repercussions.
The fact that the War on terror has so many frontiers, with states that cannot be held responsible for the actions of their countrymen (Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Yeman, Kuwait, Iran etc.) means that we're jumping into bed, with some very ugly bedfellows (for example Pakistan) are they really our allies? The leaders of the country are so scared of pursing and prosecuting terrorists because half their country think Bin Laden is a hero! and it is also a hotbed of Islamic extremists.
I'm afraid of what will happen to us, if the Administration, and rogue agencies like the CIA, keep dealing with radical extremist based countries (Isn't that how we got here in the first place, with the CIA/Administration funding the Pakistani ISI to buy weapons for the Mujahdeen?)

Agent Smith disagrees, Usama Bin Laden is hiding in Virginia Beach, using a false identity to access the naval facility nearby as a gardener in front of the Commandant's house. He also moonlights as a limo driver.

For those who don't know how a chain of command works, either in business or military circles, the #3 person is usually the operations executive, who actually has his boots on the ground moving forces and assests around, putting the plans of #1 and #2 into effect. That gives a deep chain of command that allows for lots of buffering against executive decapitation. Because of the pressure AQ is under now, it's unlikely that the #3 man ever even speaks directly to Osama, and probably gets his orders by messenger.
Part of the reason AQ can't put up much of a fight right now is that their communications have to pass through so many channels, it's almost impossible to have direct communications between command elements. If they talk to one another in any way, they will give themselves away unless they can meet face to face, so messenger is the most expedient route, and they probably try to use memorized messages as much as possible.
Because of circumstances, each terrorist command element must be able to act autonomously in feeding, equipping, training, and supplying themselves, which means that they are seriously hampered in their combat effectiveness. and must even risk exposure when they do something as simple as go to buy food. The key is to isolate different groups from one another, and turn informants so that a cell can be identified, isolated, and busted as quietly as possible, or loudly and publicly if need be. They have to avoid the most powerful military in the world while trying to fight it at the same time. The coward's tactic of roadside bombs have never worked before in any strategically meaninful way, and frankly, that's the only trick they have. They're losing, and will continue to lose, all we have to do is not quit.

Another Isolated Incident?
Possible SAM launch at an airliner:
FBI agents and Homeland Security officials spent the weekend investigating the report of a possible missile fired at an American Airlines plane taking off from Los Angeles International Airport.
According to the article, the FBI seems to think that it is either a flare or a bottle rocket.
I dunno, most airline pilots are ex-military, I'm sure they can tell the difference between a flare and a SAM. As far as a bottle rocket? Please. I fired hundreds, possibly thousands of those things in my youth, I hardly think they would be mistaken for a SAM by even the most green of pilots.
However, at this early point in time, the door to all possibilities remains open.
Another odd thing is that the date underneath the headline is 11/28, 4 days ago.
I just found this story at Drudge a couple of minutes ago, and I did a Google news search and found only 2 stories, dated today.
Interesting.
As the big boys say, developing....
UPDATE:
Yup, already. The Blog Grandfather was on this earlier.
He links to this from Bill Quick:
UPDATE: I just talked with an FBI spokesman from the Los Angeles bureau who told me that the sighting was of "a contrail." The spokesman added that "all investigative leads were vetted and the results were negative." The investigation is now closed.
A contrail? A pardonmyfrenchgoddamncontrail?
A contrail results when water vapor in the air is heated by the friction of the airplane and then immediately condenses in the cooler air behind it (or something like that).
If this was a contrail....Where was the airplane that made it? Are they suggesting he saw his own plane's contrail?
UPDATE II: Further surfing shows that WitNit has been on this for some time now.
Granted, I wasn't there at the time it happened, but really, the explanations being put forth don't make much sense.

NYCLU Loses In NYC Subway Bag Search Case
Crossposted from
Stop The ACLU
In a victory for National Security, and the American citizen not to be blown up, a judge ruled today against the ACLU, and for NYC Subways in their effort to protect their citizens.
NEW YORK (Reuters) - A federal judge ruled on Friday that police had a constitutional right to randomly search passengers' bags on the New York City subway to deter terrorist attacks.
U.S. District Judge Richard Berman ruled the searches were an effective and appropriate means to fight terrorism, and constituted only a "minimal intrusion" of privacy.
"The risk to public safety of a terrorist bombing of New York City's subway system is substantial and real," Berman wrote in his opinion.
"The need for implementing counter-terrorism measures is indisputable, pressing, ongoing and evolving."
Random bag searches began on July 22 after a second set of bomb attacks on London's transit system.
In a statement, Mayor Michael Bloomberg praised the ruling, calling bag searches a "reasonable precaution" that police would continue to take.
The New York Civil Liberties Union (NYCLU), which had sued to stop the searches, plans to appeal, Executive Director Donna Lieberman said in a statement. She said the "unprecedented" bag search program violated a basic freedom.
Well of course they plan to appeal, they wouldn't want common sense to prevail! I understand the ACLU's concern on this. No one wants to live in a police state. However, I think they are completely overzealous in this. The majority of people do not mind being searched if it means they will live another day. Besides, the ACLU would have another fit if we were to try to implement profiled searches. And they have even proven through their lawsuit in Tampa against Raymond James Stadium that they are against searches across the board. The irony is that on their own building they have a sign that says you may be subject to search upon entering. The ACLU have twisted a legitimate attempt to protect NY's citizens into a scare tactic method completely overexaggerated. Why can't they see what most people can? The threat of being blown up is a greater risk, than the far fetched idea of a police state.

Because then we'd be accused of racial profiling. Didn't you know that one single solitary non-muslim bomber ten years ago in Oklahoma City proves that the terrorists aren't arabs and muslims?
We wouldn't want to be accused of racism. If we searched even one arab who turned up clean, imagine the politically correct Leftwing shitstorm we'd hit.

It's ironic that NY has one of the highest concentrations of terrorist-loving libtards, while also being at the top of the terrorists' hit list. I also find it grimly humorous that idiots like Michael Moore can't understand why the terrorists would attack a city whose population generally supports them, while out here in red state middle America, despised by liberals as being uncultured hicks, we support those who are trying to stop those who are trying to kill those who despise us. It's a sick and twisted world. I have to honestly say that I have stopped caring if the terrorists do manage to strike in the heart of libtopia again, because they want the terrorists to win, and as always, I'm all for giving people what they want, good and hard. Anyone with any sense should get out of liberal dominated areas, because it's those places that'll get hit first.

Oyster: Depends on what part of NYC you hang in? The subways smell like urine, true. Because the dregs of society piss in them.
However, there are other parts. The more you can afford, the less in smells like urine. NYC also has a lot of culture that should not be missed. Next trip try the Museum of Natural History. It doesn't smell like urine. Nor does the Tavern of the Green. I lived there for a year. NYC is what you make of it.

New Video: Peace Activists Threatened With Death
UPDATE: We have the video.
Links and transcript here.
UPDATE: Confirmed by MSM sources. We are working on obtaining the raw video.
According to Matt Drudge, Al Jazeera has broadcast a video which purportedly threatens the life of four Western peace activists in Iraq. The names of the four activists are American Thomas Fox--who is also a blogger, Canadians Harmeet Singh Sooden and James Loney, and British citizen Norman Kember. The Jawa Report was the first media outlet to reveal the names of the hostages.
Because of the many similarities between the kidnapping of anti-American journalist Guliana Sgrena, it has been widely speculated that the terror organization never planned to kill the hostages, but are using the four peace activists as tools to drum up antiwar sentiment. However, because the orignial hostage video was first released on a website (contrary to media reports that al Jazeera first released the video) that belonged to a known terrorist organization the threat may very well be real.
The Jawa Report will post images and links to the video as soon as they are available.
UPDATE: Ian at the Political Teen has the al Jazeera video and has it posted here as does Bareknucklepolitics. Both are of a CTV report, and the latter has audio. We are still working on getting the original video before it went through the al Jazeera editing process.
Breitbart:
Al-Jazeera television broadcast a videotape Friday in which kidnappers of four Christian peace activists threatened to kill their hostages unless all prisoners in U.S. and Iraqi detention centers are released. The kidnappers gave the two governments until Dec. 8 to meet their demands, Al-Jazeera quoted a statement delivered with the tape as saying....
All four appeared frightened.
The Canadians were shown eating from plates of what appeared to be Arabic sweets. In a second clip, the British and American hostages were shown to talking to the camera but no audio was transmitted.
The two were calling on the U.S. and British governments to withdraw from Iraq, Al-Jazeera reported, quoting a statement from the kidnappers, who earlier identified themselves as the Swords of Righteousness Brigade.
Yes, very much like the Sgrena video indeed.
Developing....

The only real comfort in that video, is the fact it gives the armed forces six days to locate them, and rescue.
That along with the fact they did not execute them in the time they held them. I'm not sure if it's my mind playing tricks but the execution of Eugene Armstrong and Jack Hensley wasn't very long after their capture.

Hmmm....I have speculated over the past few days about what motive any particular terrorist group would have to murder the CPT team. But this group is bad, and perhaps I was wrong. It wouldn't be the first or last time.
Because certain groups such as the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine has called for their release, I am still hopeful that it will happen. We shall see.

I've said it before -
The insurgents and jihadists are not playing to the western
media or audience.
They a playing to a middle-eastern islamic audience.
Difference rules and values apply!
The CPT and others better realize that - in Iraq they ARE NOT SEEN as anti-american pacifists and allies - they are seen as WESTERN INFIDELS AND INVADERS! AND FEAR AND TERROR DOES WORK WITH SOME!
Fortunately (odd thing for me to say), very few of the left and groups similar to CPT are in Iraq. (they apparently got the memo). They are here doing their thing from the comfort and safety of Western democracies.
Oddly too - hondo is on duty with many to provide for their (and everyone's) safety. Think they will sent me a Christmas card and say thank you?
Not likely - but I'm cool with that.

The release of all Iraqi detainees is an impossible demand and the terrorists know that. So perhaps the intention was to kill the hostages all along and then blame the US and Iraqi governments for not doing enough to save them even though they were being treated so nicely (Arabic sweets?). Alternatively, by asking for something that cannot be granted, perhaps the plan is to force the authorities to offer a hefty ransom instead - the main objective. I'm just speculating. Whatever it may be, I hope the guys on the ground get to them before the deadline.

Ouch. No matter how you interpret it, this is a very bad sign for the four CPT members and my heart goes out to them and their families. There have been a number of prominent calls for their release from within the Muslim community but they appear to have fallen on deaf ears. Given the 1-week deadline, not all hope is lost for a peaceful resolution but it never helps to have a ticking clock.

What did you expect? When will people learn not to go there without a weapon in their hands. Muslim fanatics kill people. That's what they do. There is no other purpose for these animals. What else can they do. They contribute nothing but death and suffering to modern society. Why give the dogs the opportunity to do what they do. Do people in America need help of Christian organizations? You bet. So why go to a backward shit eating country?

Agent Smith says that whatever the situation on the ground in Iraq is, the locals are not under central government control. Sadr City, for example is under the control of the Mehdi army and Moqtadr al-Sadr. Sadr City's Iraqi Police and Iraqi Army units answer to him.
The only people under U.S. control are the Iraqi Army, who were led by Special Forces in recent Anbar battles.

Does Agent Smith believe that what goes for the Sunni triangle goes for the rest of Iraq too? Is so, Agent Smith should guess again. Most of Iraq is directly under the control of the Iraqi government, even if the Sunni triangle is still a hotbed of terrorism.
Posted by: Jesusland Carlos at December 03, 2005 06:54 PM (8e/V4)
23
Agent Smith's deep sources in Iraq have revealed that Iranian power dominates in all southern provinces, the proxy leader being the Ayatollah Ali Sistani. The Sunni Triangle is an American overlay of a Sunni light industrial and agricultural region, teeming with insurgents and "goatboys".
Agent Brown says that historically, America has defined troublesome places in terms of "triangles". Hence, the historic triangles in Korea and Vietnam. Two points would just be a line and four points gets too complicated because the shape is inherently unstable. It could shift and become a parallellogram to feared by all square bashers.
Agent Jones says that if three troublesome points cannot be found by America, America will create them, as trouble always comes in threes, like Airline crashes. Hence, the Axis of Evil lumped two arch-enemies, Iran and Iraq plus lunatic Kim Jong Il. By creating the bonds between the enemies, America gets to fight them all as if they were one big enemy.

What the hell did these brainless idiots expect? They walk into a warzone of a battle between Christian and Muslim forces -- they are Christian. On Propaganda in War II: Electric Bugaloo
Matt Welch has responded to those arguing for propaganda in
Reason magazine here. Matt and I have exchanged several e-mails over the subject, the crux of which were "Boy, I just really wish we had the time to delve into this more deeply"--or, at least,
I wish I had more time. I mean, it is
Friday and I am a university
professor and blogging is
work.....
Nevetheless, the divide here seems to be between the neo-libertarian right--which believes liberty means something different in war time than in peace--and the paleo-libertarian right--which believes (at least under my reading) that liberty is a constant.
Here is one of the core arguments made by Matt:
Shackleford's folly, aside from the feeble unpatriotic slap, is that that formulation assumes all weapons are equally neutral in moral value and practical effectiveness, which they are not. There's a reason, aside from international treaty, we no longer use nerve gas on enemy lines, or napalm on villages, or atomic bombs on cities -- world reaction would cause more negative consequences than whatever "positive" gains could be had on the ground. And if we used horses to do a tank's job, or muskets instead of M-16s, these weapons wouldn't be an "asset," they'd be a hindrance.
Since the majority of
Matt's Reason article targets my post on
Propaganda in a State of War, and since I can't really respond to all of his objections right now, what to do? Call in the pinch-hitter, of course. This is the American League, after all.
Now batting for Rusty Shackleford, Steve Green the Vodkapundit:
Now then. If a nuke were to go off in New York or Los Angeles or even Des Moines tomorrow, do you doubt that even President Kerry (cough, cough) would hesitate before retaliating in kind? Oh, but that would be retaliation, wouldn't it? And would it not therefore be a fair response? And what about propaganda? It's not as if the enemy doesn't use it – so why should our government be so restrained? Especially when our stuff is pretty damn innocent? [Read the rest]
Home run!
The second, and more important argument made by Matt is on the effectiveness of propaganda. Even if it is moral to use, it should not be if it does more harm than good:
Is unlabeled propaganda a useful weapon? In the long run I don't think it is. First, people will eventually find out, either from military officials alarmed at the practice, or Iraqi journalists with whatever motive. As most dictators have eventually learned, truth [ed note: emphasis mine] has a way breaking through even the tightest of seals.
The major problem here is the assumption that propaganda produced by the U.S. military may not be
true. To believe propaganda is always based on lies is to fundamentally misunderstand the definition of propaganda. Propaganda is the use of information to a specific ends, or the use of information (which may be true) to further specific goals.
And as long as we're playing with effete American League rules, why not send in two pinch-hitters for Shackleford (after all, I'm a pitcher not a catcher)? Now batting for Rusty Shackleford, Jeff Goldstein of Protein Wisdon:
....the actual “outing” of the propaganda effort by the LAT is, ironically, the only thing that might cause the effort to backfire—but then, we murder to dissect, as they say....
Taking this parallel one step further, let me add that our use of propaganda seems to me to fit this paradigm perfectly, insofar as we have used it to beat back the anti-American rhetoric coming not only from the Arab world, but from the western press as well.
Or to put it more bluntly, this campaign was designed to retaliate not only against enemy propaganda in Iraq and other parts of the middle east, but ironically (and sadly) against our very own media, whose coverage has been almost uniformly sensationalistic and dire. [Read the rest]
Ouch. If not a Grand Slam then at least a two-run homer.

Nice work, Professor. Matt keeps on hammering on the point that *all* propaganda is useless or worse, without ever quite saying exactly how.

I am pretty confident that the "propaganda"in both the newspapers and the purchased Iraqi radio station was seen by most Iraqis for exactly what it was, propoganda. Do you think that this "outing" came as a surprise to the Iraqis ? Who do you think has a better idea of what is going on in Iraq ? Americans or Iraqis ? Did the pictures of abu Gharib come more of a shock to Americans or Iraqis ? For any propaganda to be useful, it must be believed.

Pictures from
when? If you're talking about Graner, et. al., from what I understand, the Iraqis were impressed that we owned up to the abuses and punished the abusers.
If you're talking about pictures from Saddam's regime, then I don't think they've seen much circulation here in the US. Too nasty for the press to let us know about, apparently -- not that covering up for Saddam's reign of terror is propaganda. No siree. That's just good journalism, protecting sources.

One question I have for those who think this propaganda is harmful to the mission is: Should the US never counter or promote itself in the Iraqi and Arabic media? Should we sit around with our thumbs up our collective @ss and not respond to the misinfomation and propaganda issued by the MSM and terrorists? That seems like a route to certain disaster under Vodkapundit's
conjecture that the WoT is as much a media/information war as it is a hot conflict.
We are already disliked and distrusted by the majority of the Arab world, damaged done, for better or worse, our fault or not. You can't break a glass twice. Facts and emphasis on real projects and iniatives can't do anymore damage.
In a more tame arena, the Clinton's famous war-room was designed to counter and beat back all claims by the Bush team quickly. Now the American people distrust politicians and PR spokesholes as much then as they do now. I have yet to hear or read any negative consequences of the Clinton war-room, rather we are told again and again that the war-room was a big part of the campaign that got the Clintons into office.

Army of Ansar al-Sunna Murders Iraqi on Video
The Army of Ansar al-Sunna has murdered a captured Iraqi jail guard named Nasser Had Ali in a new video released on the internet. The terrorist group has known ties to Abu Musab al-Zarqawi's al Qaeda in Iraq.
In the over 8 minute video, two masked terrorists hold guns to the victim's head and force him to confess to 'collaboration' and 'apostasy'. The victim warns others not to collaborate with the 'apostate' government of Iraq. Such confessions are routine in these Islamic snuff videos and provide legitimacy to the terrorist murders. Under Islamic law apostasy is punishable by the death penalty.
The hostage is then taken outside, in the dark, where he is shot by one of the terrorists with a pistol. I have sent the video to Bareknucklepolitics where portions of it may be seen here.
Here is the SITE report:
Ansar al-Sunnah issued an 8:30 minute video with a statement today, December 1, 2005, announcing the execution of an Iraqi guard for al-Jaderiya jail, Nasser Hadi Ali, who was charged with spying on the mujahideen and arresting imams and worshippers at mosques as part of a commission with the Iraqi Ministry of Interior. The group claims that Ali had formerly aided the mujahideen, transporting their weapons, but he was “brainwashed” by the government.
The video depicts Nasser Had Ali seated blindfolded between two masked men carrying firearms as he “confesses” to the allegations levied against him. He is subsequently shot several times, according to “Allah’s order… to serve as an example for others.”
Images from the video may be found at
SITE. and at
ITB.

What's kind of creepy is you can hear a cell phone ring in the background. Imagine a terrorist say "Hi honey, I can't talk to you right now. I'm busy interrogating someone before I kill Him. Love you." That's creepy.

You Killed Santa & Jesus You Bastard
I got this from a highly conservative deeply Christian nice lady who for some reason has a lot of pull with Howie.
Survey Proves Retailers Banning Christmas
I thought you would be interested in a survey we did. We gathered advertising inserts from 11 different companies placed in two papers on Nov. 27 (Northeast Mississippi Daily Journal and Memphis Commercial Appeal.) Combined, the inserts totaled 280 pages.
Of the 11 companies, only one—McRae's/Belks—had a reference to "Christmas." They mentioned "Christmas" only two times. The other 10 companies did not mention "Christmas" a single time! While refusing to use "Christmas," they used the term "holiday" a total of 59 times in their 10 inserts.
The companies which refused to mention Christmas a single time in their 260 pages of insert promotions were Target, Kroger, Office Max, Walgreens, Sears, Staples, Lowe's, J.C. Penney, Dell and Best Buy.
Ask these companies why they banned "Christmas" in their in-store promotions and retail advertising and they will tell you they didn't want to offend anyone. They mean, of course, anyone except Christians.
These retailers are willing to use Christmas to secure about 20% of their yearly sales, but they absolutely refuse to mention the Reason for the season.
To see what we can achieve by working together, read the statement from Federated Stores. We boycotted them last year. Click here to see how they have changed.
Please sign our petition below. We are writing every national retailer which bans "Christmas" asking them to change their policy and letting them know how many have signed the petition. Thus far we have nearly 350,000. Our goal is 1,000,000. It is urgent that you sign the petition and forward it to your friends and family. We need numbers so that the national retailers will take notice!
If we will stick together and take action, next year we will see scores of retailers recognizing "Christmas" as a Christian holy day instead of a secular "holiday".
Please click here to sign our petition now!
Sincerely,
Don

I will vote with my checkbook.
Hey Sears, Our dishwasher just died and we will be shopping for a new one this weekend (BUMMER). Hint, the new one will be a Christmas dishwasher not a holiday dishwasher.
I think this campaign is getting some legs. The Today show had O'Riley on yesterday about this subject. I think it's about time a few of us Christians started getting a little more offended. IÂ’m not going to get in anyoneÂ’s face about this, just be a little more selective where I spend my money.

I have for a number of years been attempting to cut down on the volume of my Christmas shopping and directing my spending to other and smaller stores that celebrate Christmas (or at least respect me).
Last year I was 100% successful with one mom & pop country gift shop getting the bulk of my business.
I do this for 2 reasons -
1) to get away at least a bit from the secular materialistic orientated "holiday" that has developed since the end of WW2
2) to keep it in the "family" ( the Christian family). I don't celebrate "Happy" (I don't even know what it is!). I don't acknowledge "holiday". To those who do I politely smile and walk away.

A Christmas Tree Story - i don't know if it is true - (it could be an urban NYC legend)
A father and son sold Christmas trees for years from a location on the upper East Side of Manhattan (ultra-liberal).
The son was a college student and devised a little social experiment and convinced his reluctant father to go along.
On their lot, they separated the trees into 2 groups - Christmas and holiday trees. They decorated both areas with 2 themes - one clearly Christian (nativity scene, angels etc.), the other clearly secular (Frosty, snowflakes etc). The labeled each tree accordingly and ... devised 2 different pricing schemes - holiday trees were 20-25% more. (They were all the same and fine trees).
The son then recorded the interests and purchases.
Some were confused, some asked, a few thought it was some kind of scam (they were probably originally from Brooklyn), most however simply gravitated to a particular group.
The holiday trees sold like "hot cakes"! When they started to run short father an son simply changed the labels and moved Christmas trees to the other secular side.
It was a great season for them - virually all trees were sold.
What to draw from this conclusion? Who knows? It was however a very Merry and profitable Christmas for the father and son. Dad's best in years no less!

Michael (hey great name) Since you brought up ACLU the ICLU indiana CLU won a suit yesterday to stop prayer as part of the Indiana House of Rep procedure and banned the mention of Jesus or his title (didn't say Lord, Savior or King) as part of prayers becuase 4 people were offended and filed suit. Ok ILL was part on Indianna until 1818. Indiana had been having an invocation prayer since it's founding.

Hey, I know how we can solve this, all of us who believe in Our Lord Jesus Christ and feel that we are being persecuted in our own land, hey let's just move somewhere that we can set up our own country that is based on a firm belief in GOD, so we can worship freely without interference from government or anyone else. We can be accepting of others viewpoints but insist that if they want to stay, that they can't change our way of life but have to accept it, they don't have to embrace it, just accept us as who we are, but if it offends them they should just move along somewhere else.......... OH WAIT, didn't we do that for awhile already, man I coulda swore it was working pretty well too, WHAT HAPPENED?????? Okay you all know the answer to that one, but here's A solution.
TO ALL OF THOSE WHO DON'T LIKE IT HERE... LEAVE, TO ALL OF THOSE WHO WANT TO TURN US AMERICANS INTO A BUNCH OF EURO-WUSSIES... LEAVE. AMERICA, LOVE IT OR LEAVE IT

Christians are offended that Christmas isn't metioned?
I fear a new breed of political correctness here.
'Holiday' comes from 'holy day'. The word isn't as secular as we think.
Instead of getting all offended-that-you-said-happy-Holidays-instead-of-Merry-Christmas, how about smiling and accepting their well-wishes?
Also, these companies are businesses. They are gonna do whatever profits them the most.
Besides, I want to keep shopping at Target.

Hondo:
Target had a policy about not letting charities stand in front of their stores and solicit donations.
Yes, the decision hurt Target but they were still violating their own policy by allowing the bell ringers but not the Girl Scouts.
From stories I heard from a friend who worked at Target, and are not as uncharitable as one would think. They organized toy donation drives and do donate to community organizations. I can't remember the exact numbers, but I think they donate about 5% of their profits.

Where in the hell did the silly shit get that idea. America was never intended to be a save haven for gutter religions that believe in killing others for their beliefs. Where the hell to these idiots get that idea? Certainly not what our founding fathers had in mind.

On Murtha's Mangled Message
So,
the U.S. armed forces are broken, worn out, and "living hand to mouth." A Vietnam vet said it, so it
has to be true! Nothing like a tautology to seal the deal (by saying "I predict he'll make it look like we're staying the course," Rep. Murtha gives himself the chance to be proven right regardless of facts or what the administration does -- a pullout of any degree is proof the military is stretched too thin, and maintaining the current force level is only a saving face operation needed because the troops are stretched too thin). Besides the fact that his lame political pandering sounds more like a terrorist communique than anything else, I cannot help to think he is slightly mistaken based on what, you know, actual soldiers on the groud say. But since such logic has escaped the Honorable Representative, let me do a quick graphic display.
Rep. Murtha's view of the U.S. military:

Here we go again with Murtha - what to expect?
1) He's a vet so you can critize him
2) He's a right-wing pro mil Dem who suported the war
(THEY ALL SUPPORTED IT! REAL GUTSY BACK THEN!)
(New aproach from media - the "he's one of them who changed his mind, he's closer to their (conservative)side,
etc. - I see this new twist developing - anyone remember the Kurt Vonnoucut story a week or so ago - "he
orignally supported but ... I've been seeing that a lot - media attempts to enhance opponents credibility implying changing opinions - do some background fact checking first - some of this is pure bogus)
OK! I'll go first ... Murtha is wrong and a fool whose advocating defeat & flight without regard for consequences (or worse - with no concept of same (he is an old fool)).
Murtha is a vet - I am a vet - so screw him! and if you limp- wristed pasty-faced latte mineral water sippin' (never served or even thought a second about it) libs wanna whine "HE's A VET! YOOOOUUUU CAN'T ATTACK HIM!"
then you can kiss my tired ol' recon butt!

Murtha is a congressman, right? And the Constitution requires that spending bills originate in the House of Representatives, right? So, if Murtha is concerned that the Army's equipment is being worn out and "will cost $50 billion to upgrade military equipment nationwide, but the federal government is already reducing future purchases to save money." Isn't it Congressman Murtha's responsibility to appropriate the necessary money? After all, he didn't have trouble coming up with several million in contracts for companies representative by his brother's consulting firm.
