The Army of Ansar al Sunnah has released the videotaped murder of another hostage. This time, it's an Iraqi who is the victim. His name is Barie Nafi'a Daoud Ibrahim (Barie Nafie Dawoud Ibrahim). Video available at NEIN, or by clicking here (Warning: Graphic images of subhuman vermin murdering helpless victim). A better resolution copy of the video can be found here (subscription). The Army of Ansar al Sunnah murdered three Iraqis on September 16th (information, links to video, and images here). On August 31st, the same group executed 12 hostages from Nepal, one of them by beheading (information, links to video, and images here). On August 11th the group beheaded a man they claimed was a CIA agent (information and images here) and on August 25th the group beheaded a second alleged CIA agent (information and images here). May God speed the victims' souls to heaven, and may His wrath reign down upon the spineless terrorists in the form of a MOAB or other appropriately large ordinance.

An Iraqi Islamist group beheaded an Iraqi contractor it said was working for U.S. forces, a video on an Islamist Web site showed Saturday.

The footage from the group, Ansar al-Sunna, showed a militant beheading the man, identified as Iraqi national Barea Nafea Dawoud Ibrahim.

The group said in a statement accompanying the video that Ibrahim was an "apostate" (a person who abandons their faith). It was dated Oct. 2.

"I have set up three telecommunications networks for the Iraqi National Guard. I have been working in Taji since June 2004," a frightened-looking Ibrahim told the camera. He was wearing an access badge issued by the U.S. forces around his neck.

Two men later held him down and one proceeded to behead him, before placing his severed head on top of his body.

"We say to all those who even consider working with the crusader forces that they should repent," the group warned.

Militants have kidnapped dozens of Western, Arab and Iraqi hostages. Most have been freed, but many have been killed, often by beheading.

The same group beheaded last month three Iraqi Kurds who were members of the Kurdistan Democratic Party.

11 I’m in Iraq and he worked with me right up until he was kidnapped, in fact that was the last time I saw him before I started receiving notice from his family that he was missing. This was a sincere loss and how I feel inside right is no less then to personally find the @#%^’s and provide a better means of torture then having them go naked. 14 Man, things are going really bad. We should get out of there now before they get worse. I know it's only been little more than a year, but if we can't get things settled in a year, there's no way we can get things settled. I mean, it only took us 10 years to straighten out Germany and a measely 7 years for Japan. And, of course, the US has such a long history of empire building what with holding on to so many countries for so long, like the Phillipines (oops!, we let them go), Cuba (nope, independent as well), Japan (sorry, independent), and Germany (also independent, strike four). Ummm, yeah. So, America has a history of screwing places up and making things worse and Iraq is bad right now so we should leave now before we make it worse like we've done over and over again.

The terrorists are exploiting the religious aspect of this conflict which is why we are seeing young Muslims from all nations joining this Jihad. The West on the other hand see it as a War on Terrorism and not on the religion of Islam per se. If it were a war on Islam, a crusade for want of a better word, then the conflict would be played on a far grander scale. The whole of the Middle East would be a blood bath. Continental Europe, Asia and Africa would not be far behind. Perhaps it only a small minority including you, who are unable to distinguish between radical and moderate Islam. The solution to this conflict will be political. Special forces, smart bombs etc etc might help contain the situation. But me thinks that Bush has bitten off more than he can chew. I do not support the terrorists in Iraq nor elsewhere for that matter and I hope that the service men and women of every country in the alliance gets home safely. America is not the first country to have suffered a terrorist attack. The Uk, Ireland Spain, Israel and India are but a few that have been dealing with terrorism, in some some cases for the best part of a century. I have first hand experience of terrorism, having lost a cousin in Northern Ireland. Several colleagues also perished in the World Trade Centre. More recently a close friend was murdered in Saudi. Believe me if ever there was an opportunity to string these guys up, I would be among the scramble for position of chief executioner. The attack on Afghanistan after 9/11 had my whole hearted support and continues to do so. The Invasion of Iraq by the US does not have my support because I Can see no legal, moral or ethical reasons to invade a sovereign state which poses no threat to the US or its allies. I despise Saddam amd am fully aware of the attrocities that he has committed but that in itself does not warrant an invasion. It is also a pretty lame excuse by the U.S as to be included as one of the reasons for going to war, because Reagan and Bush senior seemed unperturbed by them when their pal Saddam was fighting with Iran. Sure there are foreign terrorists in Iraq but it is generally accepted that they only joined the war after Saddam was deposed. Where as Iraq was contained whilst Saddam was in power, the country now resembles a hell hole with fundamentalists running amok using religious fervour to turn the Iraqis against the west and galvanising support from disillusioned Muslims across the globe. In summary, Saddam was a disaster for the people of Iraq. His removal has done little to improve the quality of the life of the average Iraqi. Whereas fundamentalism was never an issue in Iraq prior to the invasion, it is now the single gravest threat, not only to Iraq but also to the whole of the Middle East. Battles may be one, cities recaptured, terrorist and insurgents put down. But, as with most terrorist causes their ideals will be passed on from one generation to the next in a never ending spiral of violence and destruction. Whether or not you agree to accept this view is immaterial to me. the fact remains that the world is now in greater peril than at anytime since the Cuban Missile crisis. The WOrld Trade Centre disaster might only be the tip of the ice berg. With regards to being in a minority in my country, I would suggest you get your facts straight. Howard is under a great deal of pressure at the moment and from what I can see the country is ready to tell Howard what he can do with his war. You might find that if you do a little research that most Aussies are opposed to the war. The whole "you are shit" etc etc is beyond boring now. I'll even refer to you as Grey rooster. Compromise, come one, how about it?! If 9/11 is stiil playing on your mind, then why not consider professional counselling? I am not being facetious or sarcastic. 28 This is what I see, and I am open to advice. comments etc... We should not have went into Iraq. But now that we are there we need to finish the job. Not by killing innocent civilians, but by sticking it out until Iraq has established a free and democratic society. It might get worse before it gets better, but that is always the case , history has shown us that. Today I read about a mass grave with toddlers shot in the head, still holding their toys, bulldozed into a pit.... You bet your ass Saddam needed to go. But I feel the same revulsion when I read about "collateral damage" , innocent children killed by stray US missiles etc... Bottom line is War sucks. Wish there were none. Wish children could enjoy their childhood with no suffering. I do have a problem with Islam. The only thing we see or hear is the fanatics so the picture painted is ugly. They all seem so barbaric so evil. Even the women, who seem to put their own children in harms way and then weep and wail in the street when they are killed.... I don't get it. But mostly I worry about our coalition forces who if they make it home in one piece will have to live with the fact that they blew up a van carrying a woman and 6 small children. Or who have to live with the stigma as tortures or sadist because of the "prison photos". I am going on faith that 99% of US soldiers are in Iraq truly hoping to liberate the Iraqi people and help them build a better life. Al Jazeera reports that a group calling itself the Islamic Army in Iraq has demanded the release of the spiritual leader of Jemaah Islamiah, Abu Bakar Bashir (Ba'asyir), in exchange for two Indonesian women being held hostage in Iraq. The two women were siezed on August 30th along with six Iraqis and two Lebanese men (report here). All of the hostages worked for an electronics firm under contract to help rebuild the war-torn state. The Islamic Army in Iraq is the same group that took French journalists Christian Chesnot and Georges Malbrunot hostage last month.

Abu Bakar Bashir (Ba'asyir) has been indicted by the Indonesian government several times on terrorism related charges, including once for his role in the Bali bombings which killed 200 and injured more than 300. Bashir denies any role in terrorist activities. He is currently being held on minor immigration charges. According to the VOA, Bashir's lawyers, claiming to speak for him, condemned the kidnappings as a violation of Islamic principles. Bashir is said to be refusing any swap deal.

Bashir is head of the Mujahideen Council in Indonesia which seeks to set up an Islamic state based on strict sharia law. In the past he has been accused of orchestrating bombings against Christian churches in the mostly Muslim nation and plotting assasination attempts against Indonesian politicians. A group linked to Chechen terrorists responsible for the attrocities at Beslan in Russia's North Ossetian district, have released a propaganda video. The entire video can be downloaded at Terrorist Media (see Russian Hell Full Video). In it, viewers are introduced to the life of a Chechen rebel, and various images of Russian soldiers being killed. One scene, which shows two Russian soldiers strolling along an alley only to step on a land mine, is looped several times while Arabic jihadi music plays in the background [images below]. The entire video is overlayed with various Islamist and Jihadi themes and is narrated in Arabic.

Many in the Western media refuse to link the Chechen rebellion to the overall Global War on Terror. Instead, they prefer to call what is happening in Chechnya 'ethnic conflict' or a 'war for independence'. While both terms are technically accurate, they both mask the underlying religious nature of this war. The Chechens rebels are not seeking to leave Russia to set up an independent secular state. Their demands are clear and straightforward--they wish to replace Russian secularism with a Taliban like state. A state which will differ from the Saudi regime only in it's anti-Western orientation.

A Turkish hostage was freed by US troops during a major offensive (also here) in Samarra today, Reuters reports. Yahlin Kaya was in Iraq working for a construction company building infrastructure projects. No reports as to how long Yahlin Kaya was held hostage.

Several groups have taken Turkish hostages in the past. Some of these groups, while claiming to be part of a larger network of 'resistance', seem to be no more than criminal gangs attempting extort ransom money. Others demand that Turkish companies leave Iraq, and some companies have.

Abu Musab al-Zarqawi's Tawhid wal Jihad group has also kidnapped Turkish citizens in the past. On September 13th they released a video of the beheading of Turkish truck driver Durmus Kumdereli while releasing a fellow Turk Mustafa Koksal [details, link to video, and images here]. On September 2nd, Zarqawi's group executed three Turkish hostages [images and details here]. On August 19th they shot Turkish citizen Aytullah Gezmen in the head [details and images here]. Mr. Gezman was kidnapped with another Turk, Murat Yuce, who was beheaded by Zarqawi a month before [details, links to video, and images here]. On August 2nd a murder video of Turkish truck driver Durmus Kumdereli being shot in the back of the head was released by Zarqawi's group [details, images, and links to video here].

This is the same Zarqawi who has now claimed responsibility for killing 34 children yesterday in Baghdad. The same Zarqawi that some on the far left insist on calling a freedom fighter.

A militant group is claiming to have seized 10 new hostages in Iraq [pictured right], according to footage shown on the Arabic television channel al-Jazeera.

The only hitch in Slimane Hadj Abderrahmane moderate plan is that he's a citizen of Denmark and the Danes, being the right-wing Scandinavian fascists that they are, are considering locking him up again. A couple bright spot today. First, it looks like Iran is on the verge of a moderate revolution. This time the word moderate actually means what I think it means, you know not-radical. Roger L. UPDATE: Scroll down for update. Al Jazeera, the virulently anti-Western satellite television network, has aired a new tape of British Hostage Kenneth Bigley pleading for his life. Images from the tape are posted below. The video can be found at Global Terror Alert or by clicking this link. The new video is obvious propaganda intended to sway public sentiment in the UK against the ongoing coalition effort in Iraq. In it, al Jazeera quotes Bigley as saying

"Tony Blair is a liar - he doesn't care about me. I am just one person. My captors don't want to kill me."

Omar Bakri Mohammed was interviewed on a British radio program yesterday. Jon of Gam Blog UK has the transcripts. In it he rationalizes terrorism, insists that fighting against the UK in Iraq is just, and backs away from earlier statements he had made threatening the lives of two British Muslim envoys who are in Iraq trying to secure the release of Kenneth Bigley.

Who is Omar Bakri Mohammed? He is the spiritual leader of the extremist sect al-Muhajiroun in Great Brittain. Here are some quotes by Omar Bakri Mohammed, you guess if the extremist sect I'm talking about is a radical offshoot of the Methodists. Speaking of attacks against British soldiers in Iraq:

"If an Iraqi Muslim carried out an attack like that in Britain, it would be justified because Britain has carried out acts of terrorism in Iraq."

"The Mujahideen [Chechen rebels] would not have wanted to kill those people, because it is strictly forbidden as a Muslim to deliberately kill women and children. It is the fault of the Russians"

Italian hostages Simona Pari and Simona Torretta have been released (original story on their abduction here). Two groups had claimed to have killed them last week. One claimed they were beheaded. I had speculated that they were both probably dead. I'm glad I was wrong. Just yesterday King Abdullah of Jordan said he knew they were alive. I look forward to hearing from them about their ordeal. The two were apparantly released for a $1 million dollar ransom. Reuters:

Two female Italian hostages seized in Baghdad three weeks ago were freed on Tuesday and are safe, Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi said.

The two aid workers, Simona Pari and Simona Torretta, both aged 29, were taken at gun-point from their central Baghdad offices on Sept. 7, in a brazen kidnapping which caused jitters among the thousands of foreigners working in Iraq....

There had been little word on the fate of the Italians since their abduction, along with two Iraqi colleagues, although Al-Rai al-Aam, a leading Kuwait daily, reported the kidnappers had agreed to their release in exchange for a $1 million ransom.

UPDATE 9:49 AM EDT: Website back up!! That didn't take long.

Abu Musab al-Zarqawi's website has been hacked again and My Pet Jawa may be partially to blame. I broke the original story that Zarqawi's original site was hacked by 'TeAmZ USA' on Aug. 22. Later, the website was restored to service before the webhost, a company operating out of Houston, took the website down permanently. However, Zarqawi's group kept a backup site on the same server which eventually became the group's main propaganda arm. That site, until this morning, was used to distribute beheading videos, recruitment messages, issue fatwas and other propaganda. Recently, the site has been used to distribute a taped message by British hostage Kenneth Bigley pleading for his life.

Today, Chad Evans of In the Bullpen discovered that Zarqawi's website had been hacked again by the same group who had taken the site down in August. An image of the message left by TeAmZ USA at Zarqawi's website can be found here, at Chad's original post, or in the extended entry below.

In my two earlier reports (here and here) on Zarqawi's website, My Pet Jawa offered to give out the URL for the Tawid and Jihad website to any entrepreneurial hacker who could take it down. In response to those posts, hundreds of anonymous e-mails were recieved asking for Zarqawi's web address. Some of the anonymous e-mailers claimed to want the address "for research purposes", some for their own benefit, and others simply put a "wink, wink" as their reason. For the most part, I responded by giving my readers Zarqawi's website URL.

Recently, though, I discontinued the practice of giving out his URL. My decision was based on two factors. First, the volume of requests. I could no longer respond to individual e-mails requesting Zarqawi's website address. Second, and more important, I received an e-mail message from a reader who was outraged by what he saw on the Zarqawi website. In fact, he was so outraged that he decided to give the webhost a call and complain.

Eventually, the company responded and said that they were aware of Zarqawi's website on their host and had had numerous complaints. But they reassured my reader with this cryptic message, that "people at the highest level had asked them to keep the website up." I, and my reader, took that to mean that intelligence services were using the website to track down Zarqawi's physical location, something a number of commenters and fellow bloggers (see trackbacks to my original post) warned me of.

In related news, a number of suspected Zarqawi hideouts have been bombed in the last few days, including one this morning. Pure speculation, but could Zarqawi be dead and that is the reason the site is down--no longer needed? The last time TeAmZ USA hacked Zarqawi's website it was back up within a few days. I suspect that if the site comes back online then that would be evidence that the intelligence community does not believe they got Zarqawi. If it stays off, that might be a sign that Zarqawi is dead. Zarqawi's death would be very good news. Unlike al Qaeda, which the Tawid and Jihad terrorist organization has links to, Zarqawi's group is run from the top. In fact, it is likely that Zarqawi personally beheaded Eugene Armstrong, Jack Hensley, and Nick Berg. Keep fingers crossed.

UPDATE: Since the website it back up, I take it that Zarqawi is still alive. Sad, sad news.

Protesters attack embassy of Denmark in Sweden. Don't say the terrorists didn't warn Denmark this was coming. Just last week this statement was issued:

Irony is using a word for purposes other than its literal meaning in such a way that it perverts its literal use. An oxymoron is when a phrase contains two words used in compliment to one another when their inherent definitions makes them incompatible. This is neither an "irony" nor is it an "oxymoron", but it's something pretty darn close. How about calling it a "oxymirony"?

Ayman al-Zawahri caught say multiple news sources. Other sources deny that one of the four high-level al Qaeda suspects caught today was Ayman al-Zawahri. It was the "Army of Ansar al-Zawahri", a group which pledges it's support to al Qaeda's #2 man, which announced several days ago that they had beheaded Italian hostages Simona Pari and Simona Torretta. If true, excellent news. If not, at least we got four more bad guys. But I wll remind you that the war on terror does not end with capturing bad guys. We fight a fascist ideology which seeks global domination. Ideologies are far more difficult to fight than terrrorists.

Syria on Monday accused Israel of inciting the United States to invade Iraq to distract attention from its own actions in the region, where it retains its grip on the Palestinian territories won in a 1967 war.

Syrian Foreign Minister Farouq al-Shara used his country's annual address to the U.N. General Assembly opening debate to deliver a fierce critique of Israeli policy, as the Jewish state accused Damascus of "directing terrorism" and threatened preemptive strikes against militants on its territory.

Shara accused Israel of refusing to comply with 40 Security Council resolutions and hundreds of General Assembly resolutions demanding that Israel withdraw from the Palestinian territories as a step toward a Middle East peace. Washington had used Baghdad's noncompliance with U.N. resolutions as one of its rationales for the March 2003 invasion of Iraq.

Instead, Shara said, Israel had built up a nuclear arsenal, expanded Jewish settlements on Palestinian lands, built a "racist segregation wall," which Israel says is intended to keep out suicide bombers, transformed its army into "armed gangs bent on systematic killings and war crimes" and shunned the peace process, "despite the hand extended in peace by the Palestinians, Syrians and Lebanese."...

Syria had earlier accused Israel of terrorism after a Palestinian Hamas militant died in a car bombing on Sunday in Damascus.

Jordan's King King Abdullah claims that Italian hostages Simona Pari and Simona Torretta are alive. He also claims that Jordan is using all of its diplomatic and intelligence asssets to obtain the two aid worker's release. This would contradict claims made earlier by two groups who said that they have beheaded the two Italians.

Kenneth Bigley's brother also claims that he has recieved information that Bigley is alive. The Northeast Intelligence Network, which monitors Islamist bulletin boards, claims that new demands have been made for Bigley's life which suggest that he may indded be alive. Among these demands are calls for the release of radical Muslims being held in British jails, including Sheik Omar Mahmoud Abou Omar. The message said the Blair government has 48 hours to respond. In a move that shows the terrorists are becoming more and more effective in manipulating Western opinion, Bigley's brother also called on British Prime Minister Tony Blair to resign and said that if Kenneth Bigley were to die that Mr. Blair would "have blood on his hands."

In an interview, Jordan's King Abdullah called on the world's media elite to stop broadcasting terrorist propaganda--echoing the sentiments of Russian President Vladimir Putin earlier this week. more...
