Iran Threatens Suicide Bomber Attacks

An Iranian group calling itself "Martyrdom Seekers" is threatening the US and the UK with mass suicide bomb attacks against Coalition forces in Iraq if Iran's nuclear facilities are attacked. Though ostensibly unofficial, no group would be allowed to make such an announcement without the consent of Iran's government:

Mohammad Ali Samadi, spokesman for Esteshadion, or Martyrdom Seekers, boasted of having hundreds of potential bombers in his talk at a seminar on suicide-bombings tactics at Tehran's Khajeh Nasir University.

"With more than 1,000 trained martyrdom-seekers, we are ready to attack the American and British sensitive points if they attack Iran's nuclear facilities," Samadi said.

"If they strike, we have a lot of volunteers. Their (U.S. and British) sensitive places are quiet close to Iranian borders," Samadi said.

Samadi reviewed the history of suicide bombing as a weapon, praising it as the most effective Palestinian tactic in their confrontation with Israel.

They have "trained martyrdom seekers"?

"Here Ahmed, put this on, find a group of children, push this button."

1 When Casious Clay changed his name, I knew something was afoot. I've held fire on the Mo jokes, but for one man who I have respect for, though I can claim little understanding of him. It's his accomplishments and his current condition, that I'll avoid the Mo slams. There's a lot of truth said in jest. God Bless Mohammed Ali, another great American!

2 Just left Sister T's, site having read the latest deposit by something named steve. The meaning of "Trained martyrdom seekers" or reality for that mature, doesn't exist in either half of the borrowed brain cells (BBC-for future reference) on parole, rattlin' round the cavernous space still physically attached to the neck of that spineless glob. The world wide talent for remaining completely stupid, is not as rare as it ought to be!

3 More tough talk, but a threat none the less. It's a threat aimed at the US and British, but if they're smart, the Shia of Southern Iraq should take notice. If Iran's intent is to destabilise Southern Iraq to keep the US and British occupied, the Shia will be the ones bleeding and dying in the streets from the bombs their caring Iranian brothers have sent their way to achive their goals. As for suicide bombing being "the most effective Palestinian tactic", last time I checked they've been doing this for the last twenty odd years and Israel is still there, doing a hundred times better economically and socially than the Palestinians. I'd say that makes suicide bombing a strategic failure.

5 It's funny how muslims and liberals share a love of suicide, though unfortunately for us, the liberals just do it politically.

7 Unfortunately for these guys, they think they're discussing a tactic that hasn't been planned for. The U.S predicted an Iranian destabilizing influence by proxy, using the Iraqi Shiite majority and they were right. From the Iran backed 'uprising' in Sadr city - to when advanced IED's were discovered with all the hallmarks of construction by the I.R.G. I don't think even the newest Soldier in theater would be surprised by the idea that an attack in Iran would be followed by retaliation against the allied forces in Iraq. I think we're getting down to it now, Iran is steering us towards a military confrontation, obviously they have made no concessions, but have instead purchased missile based air defense systems from Russia. It's almost like they're ready for a showdown, so you have to ask -- are these beer muscles fueled by the knowledge they already possess a Nuclear weapon?

8 If suicide bombing is all they got, then they are in big trouble militarily. I would say that the US will be well prepared for whatever contingincy these sheetheads have in mind, or perhaps more accurately, out of their minds. They will all get to greet the great prophet in the sky perhaps sooner than expected, but if this will make them happy, then I'm all for it. See, we can all get along.

9 FYI--These suicide training seminars are quite common. I think I posted about another one about a year ago. Thousands of these SOBs have been trained.

10 The greatest threat to our military members is not suicide bombers, or car bombs, or anything else of that line, but rather our own ROE.

12 This is a sick threat, but a threat nonetheless and we must take them seriously. This is why we can't give up the fight in the MIddle East. Democracy abroad is necessary for our security at home and is the only answer for controlling these type of radicals. The majority of people in the Middle East want a more peaceful world and if we give them the opportunity to govern themselves, it will happen...

15 History buffs: Anyone recall what was going on back in the mid-70's, when we were building the Shah a summer castle by the Caspian sea- and then they went apeshit, we bailed in the night and left a lot of gear behind. I was a bit young and wasn't paying that much attention. These losers are certifiable was what I came away with, that and a toothbrush.
