Rusty, I think I have just found something even more elusive than a ghost. More elusive than our shared dream of a fatwa...
That is why my first allegiance is to this country. Without its freedoms and protections, my faith would be something much smaller. That is also why my dream has always been one of a pluralistic, democratic society where all religions and people can feel welcome. Islamists, from the radical to the moderate, would argue that in their dream the will of the majority and the Islamic state become one. What instilled my intense love for the United States from a young age was that our democracy has a Bill of Rights that upholds minorities, prevents oppression by the majority, and keeps religious scripture out of government — the antithesis of Islamism.

Sorry to say its hard to believe he's a Muslim. Indeed, a fellow American. Its a very good post if for nothing else but to reveal how the overwhelming majority of moderates in the US don't have an affinity for this land, its freedoms and rights, as home.

I can state that Dr. Jasser is the real thing -- a moderate Muslim. Although I know little about it or even how big it is, he heads the American Islamic Forum for Democracy. He is published in the Arizona Republic at times and by what I remember of his opinions, he seems to be that rarest of breeds, a moderate Muslim (at least one that makes himself known in public). He headed a public demonstration 2 or 3 years ago in downtown Phoenix for a Muslim rally against terrorism, but unfortunately less than two hundred people showed up and few of them were Muslims.

The Myth of the Moderate Muslim is not that they exist -- they do -- but that they are the majority, or even a sizable minority.
That has yet to be established.

Two points seem pretty clear for any coherent human being. This is a good man doing good things, key words- "DOING GOOD THINGS".
The disgusting part from the Islamic hijackers is as usual, if he's good he's bad and we shall you all how useless we are to a civilization.
Constantly demonstrating the need for their extinction to be brought about ASAP is just wierdly obvious.... right up there with suicide by cop. Which is why I been heard saying on many occasions when another misfit goes on a killing spree and then shoots itself, it has the right idea but the wrong order.

They do exist - many of them are in fact here in the West (voted with their feet). Problem is we haven't be too particlar in checking when we opened those border gates. They tend to keep quiet - reason is actually unbelievably simple - the other ones scare the crap out of them!
