Maybe now this Pope will call us God Fearing Christians to the Crusades!

Watch the liberals "in" the Church rail against this.

So, a German pope... hopefully this bodes well for the global policy of blaming the International Jew for everything, because that has just been lacking as of late.

Of course, the shit has already hit the fan...they are saying he was a Nazi!!!!
Someone else said, that he won't be Pope long because he's already 78...just a token to ride it out till the next one.
Figures, doesn't it?

Just asking
Is it not a bit silly to have a 78 year old pope?

sparky,
There's nothing silly about the curia. People are saying they chose an older cardinal to serve as a transitional pope. The only question is transition to what.

Carlos
Exactly. Why not take the time and decide properly instead of making what looks like a hurried decision.
Honestly Carlos i am not being nasty i think 78 its a bit much isnt it. Why not pick a younger Pope who can serve as Head of the Church for years and years to come.

Laura: He admittedly was in the nazi youth movement. So he must have it brought up again and again and again and again.
This selection of Cardinal Razinger is a victory or conseratives in the Catholic Church.
Majority vote right. Means the majority of Cardinals wish to be more conservative.
Sparky: Even at 78 he probably was the best of the bunch for right now. His age make him a more viable candidate in case the liberal start screaming. They can say he will pass on soon.

Personally I just wish him the best. I just hope and pray he has the courage to not bend over backwards for the Islamic umma demanding servitude.

Rusty,
Ratzy's not the kind to bend over backwards for anybody/anything. The Vatican is getting smart about the last 40 years of "ecumenism" with islam. They've seen zero returns, only take take take from the muslim world.

Ratzinger left the Nazi movement as an adult. Germans were Nazis due to an accident of birth. Makes as much sense as calling JPII a Communist because he hailed from Poland. (Hey, know wonder liberals didn't point this out: they'd see it as a GOOD thing).

A interesting fact about Benedict XVI is that about the year A.D. 1139, Saint Malachy O'Morgair, Archbishop of Armagh, Ireland, wrote down a list of Popes. He listed 112 future Popes, each described by a phrase in Latin. Benedict XVI is the 2nd to last name on the list with him passing away in the year 2010 bringing "Peter the Roman" or Peter II the next pope after him. I checked out the list of popes the day John Paul II passed away and it said Benedict XVI will be the next one and sure enough he is.

RUSTY: The courage not to bend over backward. Ha, Ha.
Now who would do that?

Jon,
a problem with that prophecy is that it says that pope will come from the Benedictine order, and Ratzinger isn't a Benedictine.

Can't believe how the news media is reporting all this anti-Ratzinger crap. Anyone ever consider that the selection of the Pope is the business of Catholics and not anyone else. It's their bag. Their leader. This is akin to the Iranians or dumbass Sunni Canadians sticking their nose into the Israeli/palestinian conflict. Not their business. The politics of the Catholic Church are just that. The politics of the Catholic Church and should be left that way.
And please don't now again bring up the molesting children thing. The case concerned Catholic's molesting Catholic children. No one else. Their problem. Leave it that way.
Only when the internal workings of the Catholic Church affects others do we have a right to stick our noses in. i can't see how who the Catholics chose as their Pope is the business of others.
