3 He used to have a blog at journalspace just before the elections and couldn't take the heat so he stopped comments and then the day after Bush won, he stopped posting. We had hoped his disappearance was more serious. There were a few very important things he neglected to highlight in his movie about Murrow. Things that would have, how should I say, completely debunked every single virtue Clooney tried to portray Murrow as having. Clooney's a hack. And a bad one at that.

Everyone agreed that the liveliest (meaning most honest?) moment was the award to rappers Three 6 Mafia for Best Song, another example of black entertainment success in Liberalized America. But unlike most previous winners, like "Secret Love," "The Shadow of Your Smile," "Raindrops Keep Falling On My Head," "Call Me Irresponsible' etc. it's unlikely that Hollywood's 2006 selection can be played in the Middle East except where they need another example of the Great Satan: "It's Hard Out There For a Pimp........" from 'The Dane That Roared' at gringoman.com

6 You know, just for giggles I think I'll go on over and see just how the commentary goes since he's inviting dissent. What really cracks me up is his "question authority" mantra these days. Sure, it's a good and noble concept. I think we can all agree on that. But two things come to mind since he started that a couple years back. 1) George is particularly fond of questioning authoritative figures which don't follow the liberal agenda (okay, mostly just GWB) and 2) once you've "questioned authority" enough times to get the attention you want, shouldn't you have been right at least often enough to expect others to continue to take you seriously? Now cover me - I'm going in.

19 Okay Mr. Nrrrd, I didn't go into detail because to comment on Clooney's version of Murrow would take up quite a bit of space and this isn't my blog. But in order to please the one person here who either doesn't know what particular non-virtues I speak of or thinks everyone here is too ignorant to already know what I'm talking about, I'll give you one point. Now bear in mind this includes but is not limited to this one point in Clooney's attempt at rewriting history because there are a lot more things wrong with this movie than are right: Overall, Murrow took a weekly show dedicated to reporting actual news which traditionally saved the last few minutes of the show for actual commentary and opinion and turned the whole show into an expose' of opinion during the time he was seeking to discredit and vilify McCarthy. He blurred the lines between opinion and actual news in doing this. Several shows as a matter of fact. In "real history" Murrow was roundly criticized at the time for it not only by the "witch hunting" conservatives, but by their liberal counterparts as well. Clooney never alluded to that in his movie and continues to ignore it in real life as he's too busy deifying Murrow undeservedly. And to this day, the Murrow award is routinely awarded to agenda driven journalists in the same mold as Murrow himself. If you want more specifics, just let me know.

23 I don't think we should take Clooney's words very seriously - he's a handsome (to some) opportunist with a DVD coming out and he and his staff are promoting it in order to increase sales. His activism is a pose - activism is popular in Hollywood - that is, "safe" activism about non-issues - I don't think Clooney thinks a whole lot about what "truth to power" might actually mean - he might have a wrinkled brow if he did too much thinking, and then he would need botox. The wierd thing is that this activism posing is not even very entertaining - expect in the case of Sean Penn - that was hilarious when he got in a boat after Katrina and the photo op showed him rowing in ankle deep water....but I digress.

Britain Next to Become Defacto Â“Muslim StateÂ”

See the Western Resistance Blog who asks why and article was pulled from the UK Telegraph. The article points out the strategy for creating an Islamic mini-state inside Britain.

UK Telegraph Via Western Resistance : "They think they have won the debate," he says with a sigh. "They believe that the British Government has capitulated to them, because it feared the consequences if it did not.
"The cartoons, you see, have not been published in this country, and the Government has been very critical of those countries in which they were published. To many of the Islamic clerics, that's a clear victory.
"It's confirmation of what they believe to be a familiar pattern: if spokesmen for British Muslims threaten what they call 'adverse consequences' - violence to the rest of us - then the British Government will cave in. I think it is a very dangerous precedent."
Dr Sookhdeo adds that he believes that "in a decade, you will see parts of English cities which are controlled by Muslim clerics and which follow, not the common law, but aspects of Muslim sharia law.
"It is already starting to happen - and unless the Government changes the way it treats the so-called leaders of the Islamic community, it will continue."
For someone with such strong and uncompromising views, Dr Sookhdeo is a surprisingly gentle and easy-going man. He speaks with authority on Islam, as it was his first faith: he was brought up as a Muslim in Guyana, the only English colony in South America, and attended a madrassa there.
"But Islamic instruction was very different in the 1950s, when I was at school," he says. "There was no talk of suicide bombing or indeed of violence of any kind. Islam was very peaceful."
"That is why they do not believe in integration. In 1980, the Islamic Council of Europe laid out their strategy for the future - and the fundamental rule was never dilute your presence. That is to say, do not integrate.
"Rather, concentrate Muslim presence in a particular area until you are a majority in that area, so that the institutions of the local community come to reflect Islamic structures. The education system will be Islamic, the shops will serve only halal food, there will be no advertisements showing naked or semi-naked women, and so on."
That plan, says Dr Sookhdeo, is being followed in Britain. "That is why you are seeing areas which are now almost totally Muslim. The next step will be pushing the Government to recognise sharia law for Muslim communities - which will be backed up by the claim that it is "racist" or "Islamophobic" or "violating the rights of Muslims" to deny them sharia law

So again we see the only rights Islam respects is their own. Never mind every one else, just donÂ’t upset them. Why are we in the west allowing ourselves to suffer the degradation of our rights while allowing a repressive system to rob us of our own sovereignty? Is this not sedition or treason? They seek to form a state within a state openly thwarting and doing and end around of the legitimate authority of the British Crown. Yes, sounds like organized treason to me!

8 I'm a member of a very large international flight simulation community, its the only gaming I enjoy. Aside from the sim a variety of subjects are discussed and when it concerns Muslim influence in Britain its interesting reading the responses from folks living there. There are a variety of opinions and 'solutions'. A few understand the problem as most of us would but most appear deeply conflicted as political correctness is killing them. On the one hand they want to see themselves as tolerant ingrained with progressive multicultural values. A quasi-socialist we-are-the-world mentality. They're quick to criticize myself and others when mentioning the dark side of Muslim culture and its utter intolerance, not wanting to be "intolerant" themselves. They really have no answers... and yet they don't like, even fear what's happening. There is not much tolerance toward America tho, we seem to be a perfect scapegoat for their egos. For some, if it wasn't for the eevil Bush they wouldn't be having their problems.

Salt Lake City Punk Reality Tour

My airplane got a flat tire. That's right, a flat tire on an airplane. And how do they fix it? Just a guy with a tire iron. It took 2 hours to get the tire changed. Needless to say, I missed my connection.

So I get stuck in Salt Lake City for a couple of days. Not the worst place to be stuck. It's a pretty cool town, actually. It snowed, which is always fun in March. Nevertheless, I'm glad to be home.

Thanks to all the well-wishers for keeping me in their prayers. The interview went reasonably well. I'll hear something in the next two weeks. If I get the job I'll give your prayers credit. If I don't get the job I'll know that Jawa readers need to turn their prayers towards the real God. You know, Allah.

Anyway about a million things to do to make up for lost time last week. Blogging will be light.

23 Oh come on, I've been dumped on plenty in anything but respectful tones here, no matter how rationally I've tried engaging in subjects near and dear to the New Republicans hearts (that includes threats of de-fleshing). The idea that this place is about objective exchanges of passionate viewpoints is a little, uh...disingenuous. That aside, the primary statement made here that Feingold is an opportunist is without merit. Yes, Feingold is no fan of the Bushes and has had plenty of clashes with their undertakings, including voting against the war. But it's not like his opposition to infringments on civil liberties started with GWB; before that it was with the Clinton administration over separation of powers issues. Matter of fact, he was the only Democrat who broke party ranks in 1999 to oppose a proposal to dismiss charges against Clinton before the Senate trial on the impeachment charges against the Democratic president had been completed. Look it up; the guy is a Constitutionalist. His latest move toward censure is absolutely in line with his previous actions, including toward Democrats who don't walk the walk after talking their talk.

I don't know exactly what is required for censure, if there are standards that have to be met or not, but I believe even Feingold knows this is an entirely symbolic gesture, especially in light of a Democratic opposition that likes to tread pretty lightly even when calling Bush on the carpet. Whether Feindgold is ultimately correct or not, I like to see such individualism in today's world of go-along-to-get-along politicians. I can't speak for everyone, but going by Feingold's past records of questioning politicans on both sides of the aisle, I think there's more to these censure efforts than politics as usual.

34 Ok, name change, I will respond. Of all the liberals in Congress, I kinda like Russ Feingold. I believe him to be wrong, but he, at least, has credibility on the issue. As Bush will leave office, never to be reelected, I fail to see what purpose such a censure would serve, other than causing a political firestorm. By the way, I was completely against much of the silliness that took place in regards to Bill Clinton. Perhaps Feingold wishes to energize his supporters, and that might be valid were it not for the damage it would do the country. But, hey, go for it Russ, and expect heavy opposition.

Mo Cartoons, No - JC Fellating a Pig, Yes

From Lost Budgie Blog comes news that The Sheaf, the student newspaper of the University of Saskatchewan, refused to publish the infamous Mohammed cartoons "out of respect for Islam". Yet on March 2 The Sheaf published an episode of the crudely drawn cartoon strip "Capitalist Piglet" that depicted Jesus performing oral sex on a pig. In the second panel the pig says that it's "kosher" so long as the Christian savior doesn't swallow.

4 Something I saw upon first hearing of this cartoon with Jesus is that no one is pointing out the second most obvious aspect of it. Not only was it hypocritical to refrain from offending Muslims and then gleefully seek to offend Christians, but the cartoon, even if it were John Doe rather than Jesus, is pornographic. Pornography has no place in a college paper regardless of who the characters are. These people commited two outrageous acts in one.

(Washington. D.C.) The Chicago Tribune conducted a search on the Internet for CIA data and found "more than 2,600 CIA employees, 50 internal agency telephone numbers and the locations of some two dozen secret CIA facilities around the United States." All data were compiled from commercial sources.

Included in the virtual directory were the names and addresses of publicly-known employees, such as Director Porter Goss, and data regarding clandestine employees and front companies.

Holy moly! If the Tribune reporting is accurate, I'd surmise that the alleged outing of Valerie Plame as a CIA agent is nothing.

2 The Tribune is doing something my colleague Chris Mcnab, and author of the book "Network Security Assessment" (Oreilly) did for a whitepaper, over two-three years ago now: Internet Counterintelligence - CIA Not only did he mine whois/ipblock/zone records/email headers/ which also turned up around 2 pages of employee names/email/phone numbers/extentions He was also able to create a internal map of how their network looked on the inside.

8 Oyster, I agree with you that the men and women who work the NOCs or other clandestine positions are smart enough not to write "NOC" on a job form, but the CIA is a bureaucracy, with many, (too) many bureaucrats working non-lethal jobs. Those folks don't need to be very bright; they just need to pass a polygraph. Many of those employees are careless, and do careless things with their identities.

9 Just pass a polygraph? you are joking right -- my friend has to give way more than that, and take a polygraph for a position as a dispatch clerk for the local police municipality. I think you're over simplifying, all analysts, and managers all have to have the required security clearance for the documents they're reading/working on be it "Top Secret" or "TS/CI" etc. The CIA employs thousands of employee's that do not work with confidential data, so their name is hardly a security leak. I think by the comparison of the CIA appearing in search engine, or other Internet sources qualifies confidential data leakage, we can also say anyone viewing the parking lot at Langley can find out who works there. They do have procedures in place to insure confidentiality.

Just Your Ordinary Every Day Death Threat.

It seems that when you call into question all the blood, devastation, death, war and Horror of the ROP, The members of the ROP try and solve it by you know, killing you! Dr. Wafa Sultan as you may recall appeared on Al-Zazeera a while back and took the gentleman opposite of her to task over the violence associated with Islam. She ate him up one side and down the other (link to video here). It seems that watching her college professor shot to death in class changed WafaÂ’s mind about Islam which she had grown up with and followed all her youth. You see itÂ’s the violence that turns people off and Wafa is just making that clear. But now she suffers death threats for her stand. The story is at the NYT. There's a lot to say about his post (and believe me, I got great pleasure in reading it) and not enough room to say it here, but I will comment on one aspect he brought up that I've always found intriguing about leftist protesters in general. Aside from the fact that they so often seem disheveled and appear to have not bathed recently while displaying a very limited vocabulary, I've always been curious why, when engaging in a protest in which they expect to be taken seriously, they so often wear some of the most outrageous "outfits" imaginable. I mean really, what point is one trying to make by going out on the street with a poorly worded and misspelled sign while wearing a tutu, a bare chest sporting a grease-penciled peace sign and an Arafat style keffiyeh? Call me old-fashioned, but I can't take these people seriously. When speaking about the front row occupants of the theatre, this line got me laughing out loud: "One guy still had the remains of a wide receiver hanging out of the side of his mouth." Thanx, Bluto. That one was a real gem.

6 Oyster To them - because life is art - and art is a performance - and "performance art" is a very successful way to get peoples attention and present your point. Its not of course - it actually backfires bigtime and is key to their failures - but they will never acknowledge this - or even accept it as a "joke" - which is perfectly fine with me! Many libs and the MSM do however know this - and are often embarrassed by it. Note - when the MSM covers them, they use tight narrow shots and controlled handpicked interviews to attempt to conceal this embarrassing stupidity. Oh - how does allleged cuts in allocations affect interest rates in this case? The kid confused me - which is not surprising.

Slobodan Milosevic Dies in Prison

(The Hague) Former Yugoslav President Slobodan Milosevic was found dead in his prison cell at the UN Detention Center in The Hague.

From Focus-Fen.net:

"It is true," a source close to the government in Belgrade told AFP, when asked to confirm the report.
The source, who requested anonymity, refused to elaborate further.
Milosevic was standing trial at the Hague-based UN war crimes court on more than 60 counts including genocide and crimes against humanity for his role in the Balkan wars, including the 1995 massacre of 8,000 Muslims at Srebrenica.

Milosevic was 65. Over 60 counts of genocide and he never gets convicted nor sentenced.

Pakistani Forces Kill Islamist Terrorists

From Reuters:

ISLAMABAD (Reuters) - Pakistani security forces backed by helicopter gunships attacked a hideout of Islamist militants in a tribal region near the Afghan border, killing up to 30 guerrillas, the military said on Saturday.
Military spokesman Major-General Shaukat Sultan said the overnight attack in the North Waziristan tribal region was ordered after intelligence reports suggested that militants were gathered in a compound along with a huge cache of arms, ammunition and explosives.

There were reportedly "foreigners" among the dead. Enjoy your seventy-two raisins, scumbags.

8 of topic but I read While Europe Slept by Bruce Bawer, last night. I have never been so enraged by a book before in my adult life--and i've read my share of human misery, corruption and violence. American CPT Hostage Tom Fox Murdered

Tom was not seen in a video from the 'Swords of Righteousness Brigade' released March Seventh by Al-Jazeera. Today the FBI says that Tom was murdered.

Yahoo News :The FBI verified that a body found in Iraq Friday morning was that of Tom Fox, 54, of Clear Brook, Va., spokesman Noel Clay said. He said he had no information on the other three hostages.
Clay said he did not know how Fox was killed but said additional forensics will be done in the United States. The U.S. Embassy in Baghdad is investigating, he said.
Fox's family has been notified, Clay said, and "our heartfelt condolences go out to them."

Yes what kind of group could possibly murder in cold blood a good peaceful Christian like this. He never hurt a fly. These terrorists cannot appeased or reasoned with. They have no respect for the kindness Tom surely showed the people of Iraq. May he rest in peace and may God keep him always. Again we must call for the release of all the remaining hostages.

Yahoo News : Interior Ministry Lt. Col. Falah al-Mohammedawi said Fox was found with his hands tied and gunshot wounds to his head and chest. There were cuts on his body and bruises on his head, indicating torture, he said. The corpse was dressed in Iraqi-made clothing.
Fox's body was found near a railway line in Dawoudi, a mixed Sunni-Shiite area that has been largely shielded from violence. Shocked local residents on Saturday condemned Fox's abduction and killing.
"These acts are terrorist ones and will hinder the political process and distort the reputation of Iraq," said Dhamir al-Samaraie, who had come to see where Fox was found.

So they Cut, Beat and Murdered an old man. That ought to please Allah.

8 I want to thank the folks at The Jawa Report for their archives. I am sure that much will be written about Tom as the shock wears off and the griefstricken find their voice. But the Jawa Archives of the Christian Peacemaker Team is a valuable contemporaneous record. You will not find anything like it anywhere else on the net. I hope you will keep it intact and treat it as hallowed ground. I know many here did not agree with the choices Tom made. That's ok. If we were all cut from the same mold life would not be worth fighting for. It would have been nice if he had returned and had a chance to address the comments himself. I prayed he would. I know many here simply don't understand why he made the choices he did. I held out hope he would return safely and address the questions himself. Unfortunately, that's not going to happen. We are all the poorer for it. At this point, it would be wrong for me to speak for him when he spoke so well for himself. In that spirit, I leave you with this entry from his blog: Our apartment is across the street from a park. Many evenings around the time we are gathering for supper a mother and her three children walk by our living room window. The western sun illuminates her face and the faces of her young children. I don't know her but in a way I feel I do. She looks tired. So many, many people here in Iraq are so very tired. She looks a bit fearful. Will today be the day when the insurgents set off a car bomb near the park? Will today be the day when the young men of the Iraqi National Guard, riding like cowboys in the back of their pickup trucks, get trigger happy and start shooting with her and her children in the line of fire? 9 I find this situation irreconcilable in my mind, but not the sympathy aspect. I have already seen people criticizing this mans ideology and trumpeting how it got him killed at LGF, which is ironic seeing as one of their threads which has been mentioned a lot of times was the "screw 'em" post about the "mercenaries" (Blackwater) killed in Fallujah at dailykos. I do not find it any different to blame the victim. While I do not share his feelings, or reasons for going to Iraq, I can honestly say I cannot criticize his convictions, nor his feelings of wanting to be a part of something bigger than himself. Mercy was not afforded to him by his captors, I hope he is granted the peace he wished for in the next. I pray for the safe return of the other hostages, this man was not singled out because of his beliefs neither religious, nor political but because he was an American, as such that affects us all.

10 davec, Likely his being an American may just have as easily been a surprise and bonus in the eyes of the Islamo pukes that stopped his mission. These jerks bank on the emotional card being in play. It's not for people like me to comment on on the depth of Tom's presumably and most likely ".... wanting to be a part of something bigger than himself." For me, all of his ideas in doing what he felt lead to do are not what's in question. If these terrorists are granted opportunities/targets they will attempt to take advantage of it. I'm in favor of limiting their options in the form of reducing exposure. If I want to draw in more targets I'll take one of theirs and let it be known, in the hope of bringing more death and destruction to my enemy. In other words if the terrorists are trying to be a part of something bigger in regards to the future Tom Fox's over there, they might, have and will repeat this action to that end. Minimum they get one of ours. Limit our exposure. That's plain common sense. You order me to a rescue mission, I'm gone. But we don't need to add potential fuel to the fire. As a former pastor, believe me when I say I know what Tom hoped for, at least through my own understanding. There is a time and place for almost everything, not everything.

I was curious to know exactly what they were doing, and wondered if they knew how much danger they were in. The wikipedia article on him was a cool read, the part about him being in the marines for 20 years was quite startling. I do remember that the marines had to draft in the 60's maybe that is when he joined. In any case he served his country honorably for 20 years and then devoted the rest of his life to serving his God as best he knew how.

Judge Balks at Debra Lafave Plea Deal

(Ocala, Florida) Former middle school teacher Debra Lafave (pic) and her lawyer, John Fitzgibbons, listened attentively in Marion County Court yesterday as unsympathetic Judge Hale Stancil expressed his concerns regarding a plea deal negotiated between the defense and the prosecution. The plea agreement specified no jail time for a sex crime committed against a 14-year-old boy.

In addition to having questions about the criminal justice and education systems, Judge Stancil stated that he is seriously considering throwing out the plea agreement and sentencing Lafave in accordance with established guidelines, meaning 16.9 years in prison. Being undecided, Stancil postponed Lafave's sentencing for a week to ten days to allow himself more time to think about the case.

As a reminder, Lafave received no jail in adjacent Hillsborough County when she was sentenced for related crimes.

So, the soap opera continues as everyone waits to learn what Judge Stancil will decide.

4 The issue with age of consent laws really stems from how piss-poor a science psychology is. Its an ad-hoc solution to the question: Is the individual minor involved sufficiently developed and mature to bear responsibility for his actions? This applied whether the person was male *or* female. If they are, its not a crime; if they aren't, its a crime. The age of consent is a place holder in the abscence of legitimate scientific evaluation of a child's maturity level. The difference is, most of the readers (male, almost universally) can think back to when they were 14 and, as Glenmore so eloquently put it, think "Where was she when I was 14?!" A girl, however, they have been taught by societal mores to protect and revere as an innocent being - certainly not one mature enough, at that age, to make a decision regarding sex! However, they do not have any problems at all thinking of their 14-year-old selves It has highlighted that the age of consent is, indeed, an imperfect and unobjective place holder. However, a complete lack of objective psychological standards to measure these children by also exists. Given that, we must enforce the age of consent rule absolutely. This woman should be punished no different than if she was a male teacher having sex with a 14 year old girl, for that reason. In this specific case it is possible that the boy is emotionally stunted and was manipulated by the teacher - and it was also possible that he was just a kid having a good time. But its entirely besides the point. We have no way of evaluating that objectively, right now - so the age of consent law is proper and good. When we do, perhaps some day that won't be a crime (and, for that matter, perhaps some day a 14 year old girl will get into a similar situation and be judged mature enough to account for her own actions,) and perahps it would still be judged a crime. It depends on the kid involved. But as it stands now this woman is getting off lightly for a dire crime.

She deserves nothing less than the death penalty. A swift execution would certainly serve as a warning to other teachers not to defile our children.

The simple truth is that there was neither the time nor the resources in place to react to what was at the time an unprecedented situation. 18 If I hear the words "controlled demolition", "conspiracy" and "9/11" in the same sentence one more time ..... Dale, get a life. 1) Have you forgotten the planes? The collapse of the twin towers began from exactly the point where the planes hit. They were not "pulled". 2) Bush's brother sat on the board of the company that provided electronic security. How is that equated to "running the security"? 3) The "pulled" comment was related to building 7. Yes, it's possible (and it seems likely) they rigged it from the bottom to "pull" it because they said they said it was futile to try to get the fire under control. If that's in fact what happened, it sounds like a smart move to me. And it came down AFTER it had been completely evacuated. How does this equate to a government conspiracy to kill 3,000 Americans? I won't even address your NORAD implication.

20 you say your friend said there wasnt the time or resources to react,very interesting my friend considering they were doing drills in the weeks leading up to 9-11 for that very same scenario,planes flying into buildings.of course bush and rice said they never expected terrorist to fly planes into buildings,hah!! a few more facts 1.silverstein is on video saying they pulled the building.it takes weeks to prepare for a demolition,not hours. 2.actual recorded transcripts from the fireman going up the towers showed they heard explosions going off all over the buildings,I have heard these myself 3.no less an expert than Bin Laden himself said 3-4 weeks after the event that he "did not order these attacks".
