Muhammad Cartoon Rage Via Email (Updated)
Although we have an email privacy policy (
at Hyscience - where originally posted) that assures readers that their emails are never published, we have a long-standing tradition that the policy
DOES NOT APPLY TO DEATH THREATS. The majority of death threats that we get are to us personally, and some of those have been posted in the past.
However, today we received an email from Belani Bulasin in Turkey, that applies to all of us "blasphemous Westerners." His English is better than what we've seen from most jihadist emails in the past, so one would assume that he is bright and educated.
While he's certainly entitled to his opinion of whether or not the images of Muhammad should or should not have been posted, making death threats to individuals or a civilization, or to any persons of any group of any size in between, is inappropriate and unacceptable behavior in today's world.
This applies to everyone, even those who by choice or happenstance live in a stoneage culture, and follow a violent and intolerant religion that worships someone they view as a prophet, but who is viewed by much of the world as the wellspring of terrorism.
Since Belani's message applies to the entire Western civilization, and is indicative of the intolerant, violent, hateful, and murderous religion that he follows, radical Islam, a belief that follows jihad and seeks world domination, and submission to Islam by non-radical Muslims and non-Muslims alike, we feel it very appropriate to post his email here:
Hyscience Message from Belani Bulasin
karasahan@e-kolay.net to admin
Feb 3 (12 hours ago)
From: Belani Bulasin (85.99.40.104)
Email: karasahan@e-kolay.net
I'd like to let you know a Turkish saying reads as "a dog which was destined to be dead soon, urinates on a wall of a mosque! You blasphemous Westerners all are very like that dog in the saying!
Belani Bulasin
Istanbul/TURKEY
Readers are encouraged to
voice their opinion on this matter, and to offer Belani their input and advice as to what they think about his threat, what therapy he and his fellow followers of the wellspring of world wide Islamic terrorism and Islamofascism might consider, and what you think of people that have a sand dune, stoneage, intolerant, mindset such as his.
Readers are also encouraged to be very polite. Remember, Belani needs therapy, not more abuse. He was probably abused as a child, or perhaps that dog at the mosque just happens to have "special meaning" for him. We want to let him know that we consider him our friend, albeit a bit misguided.
Update: I missed this one earlier, this one from an annonymous sender:

I had a dream last night after looking at your blog.
Severe tragedy will kill or crush you this year.
I think it will be your son killed in Iraq.
Or maybe something worst.
You will be amazed at my prediction.
This i promise you.
Keep up your attacks on muslims.
Nice man!

I knew that many Muslims engaged in a lot of hypocrisy and double standards, but this is just stupendous. Calling Imams preaching hate and calling for the destruction of entire countries "respected Islamic scholars" and cartoonists "blasphemers who should be beheaded" is really, really stupid.
The only voice of reason coming out of the Muslim world I've heard on this comes from a Canadian Mulsim. He condemned the cartoons, which is his right, but balanced it with a condemnation of the violence:
"The protests in the Middle East have proven that the cartoonist was right," said Tarek Fatah, a director of the Muslim Canadian Congress. "It's falling straight into that trap of being depicted as a violent people and proving the point that, yes, we are."

The muslims have been exposed. Mission accomplished. And for this I am thankful to those cartoonists and the European newspapapers that printed in solidarity with them.
But let us not now "expose" ourselves by continuing to fan the flames for the mere glee of it. It will only backfire on us and make us look the bad guys.
Enough. Stop it.

Here was my response to the first comment that I sent to the email address you provided.
I read your threatening message about dog “urinating on the side of a mosque” at Hyscience.
I’m sure you find that these images of Mohammed are offensive. No one likes to see their religion denigrated. I certainly do not like seeing Christ being pissed on in “art” (as has happened here in the U.S.). I can certainly understand protesting it (though it may be unwise as it draws attention to the blasphemy that might otherwise go unnoticed) or boycotting the persons who produced it. But, to threaten to kill the persons who produce it and to threaten to kill all of their countrymen and all Europeans and all of the West – is plainly evil. It is also pathetic. People who overreact to every perceived offence are not people who are confident of their position. They are people who are afraid the images will resonate because there is some truth to them.
In the West we do not bluster. We do not because a person who blusters and does not follow though is a person who will be ignored thereafter. In the Mideast (and apparently Turkey – despite its desires to join the West) this logical rule of society does not seem to apply. Al Qaida threatens imminent attack on the U.S. for years and does to produce – and yet you still put faith (an hope) in their pronouncements. Baghdad Bob says the Americans have not entered Baghdad and despite the American tanks in the background Arabs keep believing him until they see Saddam’s statue fall. Your threats are bluster. You and your people are no more capable of killing all of the persons posting the images of Mohammed than I am of causing and eclipse of the sun at my command. On the other hand - the West (heck, the U.S. alone if you provoke us enough) is capable of almost effortlessly doing anything we want to you middle easterners any time we want and there is nothing you can do to stop it (except perhaps beg). So understand your enemy well enough to at least create some credibility by stopping the hollow threats.

I wrote:
Dear sir,
when you make death threats you only confirm what we in the West believe about you people. You are dangerous religious fanatics. In the West, we have something called free speech. That means we can say anything we want. It also means other people are also free to be offended. Being offended is your right, and speaking out in a civilized manner about it is also your right. But making death threats is not speaking out in a civilized manner. It is uncivilized and barbaric. But you people (the muslims) have already proven youselves to be primitive and barbaric on numerous occassions, so your death threats come as no surprise.
cheers
Jihadi responded as follows:
You civilized? What kind of civilization is this? Is it a Western civilization of new imperialism, military invasion, barbaric bombing upon civilians, torture, etc.? Or a civilization of environmental pollution and nuclear disaster? Or a Western civilization of consumption and obesity while starvation imposed upon the Third World nations by IMF and World Bank policies? Or the Western civilization of pornography, sex tourism, sex slaves, etc.? A Western civilization of masturbation? Or the Western civilization of blasphemy and indecency?
Islam is the only serious and complete religion in the world today in that it has, as Samuel Huntington argued in a Foreign Affairs issue in early '90s, alternatives cultural, social, economic to Western capitalism and corruption. It is certainly open to criticism but not to insulting.
PS: You'd better comment the "death threat" in the saying about the dog so as to mean awakening by blasphemy of some Muslim fools who thought there was a Western civilization! Actually I must be thankful to you for assisting such naive people to be aware of the facts about so-called Western civilization!

Actually, I'm not that crazy about hate speech or hate crimes laws. It seems to come to close to 'thought crimes'. And I say screw political correctness, if I have an opinion I am going to let it fly. I do believe they were meant to counteract juries who would acquit based on their own bigotry and racism as so often happened in the past. I'm not sure how well it works or if the ends justify the means. Who said I was a "lefty".
You must not know much about Christian fundamentalism, I grew up with it as a Southern Baptist. Do you not see parallels between the two? I'll admit we don't have a theocracy in the US as many Muslim countries do but there are similiarities in their mindset. It's called "straight thinking" also known as orthodoxy. People are told what to believe and to not ask questions, it's been going on for centuries.
I don't think it's unreasonable to have a problem with that if you cherish freedom of thought and religion. I also have a problem with hypocrisy.. giant mega-churches and preacher's salaries, limos....how does any of that fit in with Jesus' teachings on the love of money?
Posted by: Nihilbilly at February 04, 2006 04:44 PM (W9H47)

Nilbilly,
difference is Lefties seek government censorship, while christian fundies use pressure groups. Given I believe in the marketplace of ideas, the latter seems entirely valid to me.

Nihilbilly, let me know when Christians in America start burning buildings, issuing fatwas, and killing people in the name of religion. I'm not talking about the lone weirdo: I mean when a Christian denomination makes these things a matter of policy. THEN I'll be concerned.

Nihilbilly, Yes. I KNOW what you mean (as I am surrounded by them here in South Texas!). I understand your comparison, . . . REALLY! (end sarcasm.)

Being a Southern Baptist for most of my life, missionary Baptist prior to Southern, nihibilly is so completely wrong as to defy credibility. I'm trying to figure out just what the heck he is alluding to. I have never been subjected to the kind of "orthodoxy" he is referring to. And the last time I checked(which was last Sunday) you can get up and leave, not go to church or pray, or basically do anything you want to vis-a-vie the Baptist Churches I have belonged to. What's up with that? And if hypocricy troubles you, nihibilly, then everywhere you go and work will expose you to hypocrits, including the church. You see, we all sin and fall short of the glory of God. That's the reason Jesus came to Earth as our Savior. Just a thought.

I must say that the recent protests and violence in the middle east has done nothing but confirm the views depicted by the cartoonists. I will also go further and say that recent threats against those responsible for printing these articles and other threats directed toward the Western world has done nothing but confirm in my mind that people from the middle east are an uncivilized bunch of fanatics. I advise all "Jihadists" to demonstrate peacefully, as they have a right, but not to take it a step further and piss off half of Europe. Can you not see what you people are doing? You are currently setting the stage for a 3rd world war. Oh and by the way, your opponent is Europe, a continent that has been at war in some form or another since the dawn of civilization. You middle-easteners will get severly fucked up if you start shit. Yes you have suicide bombers, but please, leave them at home, by sending these individuals to the Western world, you will create backlash against your own people in our lands, and hopefully deportation, and even though i embrace both, i dont want to see either.

When a single adult acts in a childish manner you generally ignore that person but when that person is inciting others to act in a similar childish manner it is always best to egg them on and push them over the edge towards insanity, because afterall they and their comrades are only showing their true nature by their childlike actions. You do this so as to expose them for what they really are which as the author of the original note in this email thread here at Hyscience said; "people that have a sand dune, stoneage, intolerant, mindset such as his." Which was a pretty good description of Belani and his comrades IMHO. There are now lots of internet sites depicting similar cartoons and no doubt will be more in the near future. This will undoubetly further inflame the Muslim Jihadists. I say make more cartoons and animations and maybe, just maybe the childlike, sand dune, stoneage, intolerant mindset Muslim Jihadists will grow up and see the childishness of their actions and stop their insanity on their own.

Terrorists Seek Cases Tossed Due to NSA Spying
You had to know this was coming. The lawyer for Iyman Faris, convicted of plotting to blow up the Brooklyn Bridge, asked a federal judge today to throw out the case because the National Security Agency illegally spied on him.
From the AP:
Iyman Faris' challenge is among the first to seek evidence of warrantless electronic eavesdropping by the National Security Agency, a practice that began after the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001. Government officials have reportedly credited the practice with uncovering Faris' terrorist plot and several others.
A motion filed by Faris' attorney David Smith in U.S. District Court in Alexandria, Va., argues that investigators improperly obtained evidence against Faris and that his trial lawyer was ineffective.
Given the likelihood that Faris' phone conversations or e-mails had been electronically monitored, Faris' trial lawyer, Frederick Sinclair, should have asked for evidence of such surveillance, Smith said in the motion.
Interestingly, Faris, 36, pleaded guilty to conspiracy and aiding and abetting terrorism. He was sentenced to 20 years in prison. Subsequently, he tried to take back his guilty plea, saying everything is his agreement was false.
And, there are others looking to get their terror-related convictions overturned.
A lawyer for Ali al-Timimi, an Islamic scholar in northern Virginia serving a life sentence for exhorting followers to fight U.S. troops, has said he plans to challenge his case based on NSA involvement. So has an attorney for Adham Amin Hassoun, a Lebanese-born Palestinian living in Florida who is charged with being part of a cell dedicated to supporting violent Muslim extremists.
Obviously, the issue of the NSA eavesdropping will have to be decided in the courts.
I hope that the judges ruling on the issue keep in mind that it involves protecting the United States from foreign attack. It would be imprudent to allow Faris and his terrorist buddies to get off.

Kabuki Outrage
Strictly Speaking
this sort of thing doesn't bother me all that much. I mean, it's true that western media are kind of bending over backwards, matrix-style, to placate muslin sentiment, but the backdrop is that we're more afraid of what we might do, than what they might do. Consider that human beings, as a rule, are not really that different from one another in spite of modest differences in local and regional culture. We basically all have the same sense of fairness and usually recognize the same constraints against the First Commandment. And the thrust of history that substantiates the reform and progressive movements in Western Culture (individual freedom, anti-slavery, anti-totalitarianism) are not merely "Western" but human, in a sense that's vastly larger than the regional appeal of a Seventh Century Prophet who "shall not be disobeyed." And while the world of Islam has been offended, yet again, by our iconoclasm, we have yet to see the awakened offense of Western Culture to the affront of being challenged and blasphemed by the regional superstition of "low Islam," before it has even awakened itself to a righteous indignation about chattel slavery: a conflict that cost the United States in excess of a million untimely deaths. (And in my own case, almost 50% of the progeny of our Arkansas hillbilly family.) If the sense of Jacksonian offense at being taken for granted by a lesser cultural light is ever genuinely awakened, the modest threats tossed out by the Islamic world as a thin figleaf against its own shameful past will seem anemic and pale by comparison to the wrath that will be loosed on that poor excuse for "progress."
Do not get me started...

Somebody forgot to close their bold tag. ;-)
You'd think the multitude of innocent people who have been deliberately killed by suicide bombers would get them riled up. But nooooooo. Draw a picture of their precioussssss and they go wild. It simply proves the point once again that all those things in the Koran about "getting along, charity and forgiveness" applies only to other Muslims.

I have observed an interesting phenomena on a couple web sites that I read on a periodic basis. These sites have political discussions that are more or less evenly divided between calm, reasoned conservatives and flaming moonbat liberals (guess which side I support). Any way, since the latest protests over the cartoons have erupted, the moonbats have become calm, reasoned liberal commentators who point out that it is quite alright to protest, to even protest through boycott but kidnapping and cutting off heads requires strong enforcement of normative behavior (I think one of them even mentioned turning sand into glass via excessive application of heat). The radical Muslims best beware the uniting of public opinion in the West against them for we will settle the issue to our satisfaction, then go back to our own family squabbling.

Over 100 Motorcycles from The American Freedom Veterans Awareness Organization came to help drown out the noise of the Phelps hate group protesting at Lc-Cpl Johnathan Kyle Price's funeral In Illinois recently.
While the community did what it could to make sure that the protestors or their signs could not be seen , the Bikes did what they could to see that they were not heard either.
Words can not describe the pain their " freedom of speech " must have caused to his family.
What ever happened to the civil right to be able to practice one's religion , by entering a church in peace, and being able to practice one's religion, in a solemn and respectful burial of their loved one.
ACLU only has respect for some peoples rights, when they choose sides , they choose who has the most rights. I wish this law had passed before Kyle's funeral.
One other thought , if such protests continue, it won't be long before communities will tire of it , and civil unrest will follow.
I understand that these protesters were taken for a long long ride for their own safety after the protest. I'm just waiting for them to sue my home town now. It's not like they haven't caused enough pain already.
It has been almost a month , and I'm still furious. Kyle didn't deserve this , none of our soldiers or their families do.

The saddest part of this entire situation to me is the fact that these people claim to represent Jesus. To anyone who sees these people and hears their message I would say this: These people do NOT come from God and do NOT speak what God thinks of this nation. They are the most screwed up image of Christianity I have ever heard of.

And Now A Word From Our Sponsor
We are pleased to introduce noted star of the big and little screen, Mohammed the Prophet. Star of such blockbuster hits as "The Siege" and "Executive Decision." Emmy award winning star of "Flight 93" and various episodes of "24."

Hello, O brothers. I have come with a couple of questions for you.

After a hard day of marching, flag burning, and chanting "Death to America, Israel, Denmark, and Vanutu!" do you find it hard to unwind?

After a hot, rough day in the Bekaa valley, training for your martyrdom mission, do you find it tough to relax and enjoy a good soccer game on the television?

Fret not, O holy warrior, for I have just the thing for you...

Fris Vodka. That's right, imported from the great nation of Denmark, this super premium vodka is freeze distilled by master distillers commissioned by appointment to the royal Danish court. But don't take my word for it, take theirs...

After a hot day preparing detonators and wiring IEDs, I greet my husband at the door with a Fris martini. It helps him wind down after a hard day, so that we can ululate all night, baby!

I was a kindergarten teacher before I found Fris. Now, after a drink or two, I can behead the infidel in my sleep!

Shhh...don't tell anyone, but my daddy loves his Fris in a Cosmo! He mixes them in the hollowed out skull of an apostate!

There you have it, brothers and sisters. Purchase Fris Vodka, and other fine Danish products, in a store near you. And that's not just a request, that's a fatwa!

Its jokes like this that makes Wahabbi Islamic Fundamentalists want to kill infidels. Muslims don't drink, they don't have pictures of the Prophet Mohammed and they don't all want to destroy the West. How do you think Catholics would like it if you had cartoons about the Pope having gay sex? How do you think Buddhists would feel if you had pictures of the Dali Lama wearing a shirt that said Mao is my leader? Somethings are just purposely offensive.

Catholics don't blow up children when you make fun of the Pope. Buddhists don't torch your embassy when you mock the Dalai Lama. Jews don't kidnap your son and cut off his head when you draw a crude cartoon of Moses. They just shrug and write you off as an idiot.
Non-Muslims can't defend Islam anymore. If Islam is worth saving, then the Muslims need to produce some extremist maniacs from the other end of the bell curve and prove it.

Brian, you mean some Muslims don't drink, and some Muslims don't have images of Mohammed. I personally know some Muslims who imbibe infrequently, just like myself, and many images of Mohammed are made and sold in Islamic countries, including Iran. So don't try to sell your load of crap here. You come off as nothing but an appeaser, and that isn't popular around here right now.

First up, my good friend Beth, who simply will not rest until I, and I alone, receive the coveted First Fatwa of Jawa:

But wait, sports fans. Linda of Something and Half of Something, that notoriously evil Joooooooooooooo, offers herself up a heapin' plate of fatwa-worthiness:

Remember, O exalted imams, the fatwa for the top image goes to me, the bottom one goes to Linda. Of Something and Half of Something. A blog. By a Jewish lady.

Palestinian Authority Overstimates Own Population by 62%
When is overstating your population by 1.5 million people a big deal? When your actual population is only 2.41 million. That's an overstatement of 62%! That would be kind of like the U.S. claiming it had 453 million people instead of 280.
Worse, the numbers built of phony assumptions grow the error rate over time. Thus, the PA actually overstates its future population far more than it is already overstating it today. They overstate the number of Arabs expected to be living in Israel and the West Bank by over double!
So, what incentive could the Palestinian Authority have in lying about their population? The Officer's Club:
The report has the ability to bust a legion of myths perpetuated by pro-Palestinian factions. It disproves notions that Arabs outnumber Jews in Israel and the occupied territories, it reveals a Jewish majority in Arab East Jerusalem, and cements the dominant Jewish majority (4-1) within Israel's pre-1967 borders.
This affects the Israeli-Arab conflict on every level. The PA has long used these bogus head counts to generate sympathy for their cause on the international stage. It impacts Arab claims to the entirity of the West Bank, and blows the whistle on millions -perhaps billions- of dollars worth of international aid donated to help people that never actually existed (and in reality was probably directed into the coffers of Islamic Jihad or the now reigning Hamas).
Here is the actual report in Power Point format as presented to The American Enterprise Institute.

they've used these bogus numbers as:
(1) a threat (the demographic "time-bomb"; and
(2) they've used these numbers to get MORE MONEY from the usa/un/eu.
also keep this in mind: most of them are related a few times over because of forced consagnuinous/endogamous marriage. which has caused HUGE increases in the prevalence of serious birth defects.
gaza and the west bank have all the worst features of the worst stereotypes of so-called "hillbillies" like the mccoys and the hatfields: in-breeding; ppor education; and tribal blood feuds.
IOW: the mccoy vs the hatfields infuced with islamofascism and with steroidal rage.
even though there are fewer of them, (and it would seem therefore that managing them under continued west bank occupation wouldnt be impossible) Israel should still unilaterally separate.
redeploying idf assets behind a wall will better protect Israel - especially after the iran preemption.
one thing the IDF has to do - and must get jordanian and lebanese and egyptian cooperation for: preventing the in-flow of more weapons into gaza and the west bank.
these arab nations ahould have good motive for helping israel as it will help them too. neither egypt, jordan or lebanon want the isalmofasdcist hamas types to get too strong because they are a threat to their own regimes.

I'm guessing: to allow them to use it, though not necessarily w/o cost. Allowing them to "admire" it isn't far off though, and I daresay there's a lot of "cultivating the field" in order to gain access. But that doesn't mean it's A-OK for them to exploit the hell out of the photo without compensating him. My guess, given his sense of mission, is that he'd be more than happy with a token payment. Just something so that the stare decisis isn't "exploit the hell out of every journalist with halfway decent intentions."

Muslims Propose 'Final Solution' for Cartoon Blasphemers

As if promising to 'slay' and 'behead' the blasphemers wasn't enough. Now calls for 'extermination'. Since Muslims are holding the entire country of Denmark responsible for a single brave newspaper's actions, are we to surmise that only the Danes should be sent to the gas chambers or all of in the West who support them too?
Photo grab of BBC via fellow Jawa reporter Tim at Opinion Bug.
And just in case you don't understand what they mean by 'extermination'.

Come on Progressive Europeans! Let even more immigrate in! Should prove interesting! With your declining aging populations - you'll need them to support and care for you in your declining years!
And think about your children - the few you are having. Whose lil' Hans, Dag & Michelle gonna play with in school! Why, they would all be alone in empty classrooms - if not for the new muslims surrounding them.
Interesting isn't it. Take France - muslims constitute 10% of the population - growing just with out imigration at 3x the rate of others - and in some young age groups already account for 30+%.
Its gonna be really interesting in another generation.

While looking at pictures of various "protests" in various countries, I can't help but wonder why there are so many signs written in English being utilized in countries other than England. Many of them use the same verbage as those in England. Rather than being frightened by these persons who seem to want to point the finger at us no matter what their actual agenda, I suppose we should feel flattered we're so special and popular.

The signs are predominately in English cause the mullahs & boys back home can't read Danish or Dutch etc - most Western Europeans have a working handle on English - and they can send their threats of violence to Bush and America from the safety of 3000+ miles away.

Also Vonski discusses the WAPO cartoon and threatens to...

This outrage is developing into (surprise!) threats of kidnapping and violence against those responsible for the blasphemies. In Islam, it is forbidden to produce or view any sort of depiction of Muhammad to discourage idolatry.

British Muslims: "Behead Those Who Insult Islam"

What the news is not reporting about these people is that they are followers of Sheikh Omar Bakri Muhammad and that their website has called for death to all those who blaspheme mohammed. They openly preach this hate on the streets of London. A related group, The Saved Sect, operates in Birmingham.
Intelligence gathered from Jawa Report operatives indicated that radical Islamists linked to Sheikh Omar Bakri Muhammad are using The Birmingham Grid for Learning webservers to spread jihadi propaganda and recruit terrorists. These webservers are owned and operated by the Birmingham City Council. The webserver also seems to be related to various schools in Birmingham.
What we want to know is who has access to these webservers? Is an employee of the City of Birmingham, or a related school, a jihadi? I believe the people of Birmingham might be interested to know that there is a terrorist in their midst. Especially if that terrorst is teaching their children.

I guess the problem for the European's is the fact they have no way to enforce their freedom of speech, or protect themselves from assault due to the restriction of Firearm's.
You cannot kill, or maim an intruder in your house in the U.K without going to jail yourself. At the same time the Police force is imploding with increasing wait time for responses and the fear of officers themselves, of entering an armed conflict without anything but a baton.
It's open season as far as the "radicals" are concerned, how can anyone defend themselves in a society that handguns are illegal, and rifle registration is given to those that have a need.
If you want to see an example of that, the day of my Grandfathers funeral, the Police came and seized his rifles until the licenses could be transferred to my Father.

We must all of us stand up against the bullying and censorship of Muslim nations and domestic Muslims.
No one should feel threatened for poking a finger in the eye of Islam, any more than they should for doing so to Christianity, Judaism or Hinduism. Shutting off humorous jabs is the first step to foreclosing critical analysis. Islam desperately requires this criticism - from both within and without. Its adherents are murdering thousands around the world in its name. The rank and hysterical behaviour of the Muslims and their governments that raged against the cartoons only confirms this need.
Here in Britain, television regularly shows programs critical of Christianity that often are nothing more than ridicule and debasement of our faith. Why is this taken with annoyance, but not violence and threats?

I will also put some more cash into buying ammunition for my firearms as they are useless without it, and my daughter is about to have some shooting lessons. My two sons are already prolific shooters and hunters. Everyone here in the US should do the same. The situation in Britain looks bad to me, but the media does have a tendency to exagerate. There's a lot of violence in the Qu'ran, and a lot of violence in the Bible (particularily the OT). But one thing that seems unique about the Qu'ran is that it demands the killing of "unbelievers" (e.g. Surah 4:89). So, in effect, the picture shows a rather moderate muslim, who demands that only those unbelievers that "insult Islam" should be killed. I for my part will surely refrain from calling Islam a violent religion, lest gentle and peace-loving muslims cut my unbelieving head off!

... the culture war that is being waged by the Arabs and Muslims in response to the Danish cartoons is an assault on the West's right to live and govern in accordance with its values. It is an assault on the notions of freedom and self-determination themselves
So please tell me, "Oh great Muslim scholars," why is it that "non-Muslims ought to behave obsequiously towards all things Islamic," and can't carryout a simple satire on how the world perceives the Muslim world by their terrorist behavior, while the Muslims are free to demonize Jews as monkeys and pigs and accuse Christians of being idolaters???
Caroline Glick absolutely nails it on the Muslim furor over the cartoons, and her piece in the JP needs worldwide recognition:
(...) At its base, the Muslim furor over the cartoons is part and parcel of their culture war against the West. The Muslims pushing the issue believe that non-Muslims ought to behave obsequiously towards all things Islamic, while the Muslims are free to demonize Jews as monkeys and pigs and accuse Christians of being idolaters. According to the rules of their culture war, if Western societies refuse to behave in accordance with their dictates, the Muslims have the right and duty to attack them.
(...) That is, the culture war that is being waged by the Arabs and Muslims in response to the Danish cartoons is an assault on the West's right to live and govern in accordance with its values. It is an assault on the notions of freedom and self-determination themselves.
That bears repeating one more time, because the West needs to realize what the Islamists are really up to in perpetuating the Muslim rage against the cartoons. The culture war that is being waged by the Arabs and Muslims in response to the Danish cartoons is
an assault on the West's right to live and govern in accordance with its values. It is an assault on the notions of freedom and self-determination themselves
I hope that's clear, now. Make sure you get it, then help to make sure everyone you know gets it. Pass the word!

It's going to take a whole bunch more of bombs and beheadings to realize the only option against islamic extremism is no-holds barred war. An assault on our culture or more at capitalizing on our complacency and the strong current of cowardice becoming so evident? I suppose the two go hand in hand. Allah loves a coward, when it comes to establishing the caliphate that is.

I hope they get just a little more uppity, because we of the civilized West are a little too tolerant of such nonsense, and take a lot of pushing before we push back.

I feel that much of this furor over "insulting" Islam is indeed, a blow against freedom. Maybe a stroke pushing the West towards our eventual "Dhimmitude".
Khruschev, in 1961 said his Soviet Union would bury us, and that the West would sell him the shovels to do this.
Also, notice how the Media Elites' seem to accept their own Dhimmitude, and attempt to make us "cowboys" feel like ignorant buffons, inadequate to respond to Islamic challenges.
Since (in the Media eyes) I am an unrepentant Racist/Cowboy/uncultured redneck, could someone define "obsequious"?
I hope it means something like, "well armed", or Breathe, Relax, Aim, Sight alignment/Sight Picture, Squeeze".

The furor over a cartoon is merely
confirmation of the great gulf between Islam and
the rest of the civilized world. The war on
terrorism is only the advance guard of what
is to come. The flood gates opened when we
extended our way of life to the
rest of the world. Little did we understand the
maniacal component of religion.

The 'Mother of All Downing Street Memos' Nonsense (Updated)
The tin-foil brigades are at it again. This time with a
Downing Street memo which is supposedly "bigger, longer, and uncut". In fact, this one is another non-starter for the conspiracists who would like to believe that George Bush and Tony Blair are the modern incarnations of evil.
To the conspiracy theorists all absence of evidence is evidence of kabal and silence is nothing more than cover up. Thus, the conspiracist is left grasping at straws and then calling such straws evidence--or worse, proof.
So, what is in this "mother of all Downing Street memos" which David Corn believes is evidence that Bush and Blair are "conspiring to create a modern-day version of the sinking of the Maine"? Yes, Corn actually uses the word conspiring--you know, as in "to be involved in a conspiracy", Here is the Channel4 'exlusive':
President Bush to Tony Blair: "The US was thinking of flying U2 reconnaissance aircraft with fighter cover over Iraq, painted in UN colours. If Saddam fired on them, he would be in breach"
Corn calls this the equivalent of the sinking of the Maine, which is telling since he seems to believe that was a 'conspiracy' as well.
But, what exactly is the big deal here? The fact of the matter is that Saddam Hussein was doing this on a nearly daily basis already! With or without the Bush-Blair conspiracy, Iraqi forces fired on U.S. and British planes patrolling the no-fly zone thousands of times before U.S. troops ever invaded Iraq.
How does one conspire to create an incident that is already happening on nearly a daily basis? Is Corn and the American Left acually so ignorant as to have not read the hundreds of press reports of Iraqi forces firing on Coalition airplanes for years and years before the invasion?
Saddam had been in breach for a dozen years, the majority of which were under the Clinton administration. Was Bill Clinton somehow involved in this conspiracy too?
Corn seems to rest his hopes on that single point. But there is more in what he calls 'the mother of all Downing Street' memos:
Bush: "It was also possible that a defector could be brought out who would give a public presentation about Saddam's WMD, and there was also a small possibility that Saddam would be assassinated."
I'm not sure which part is more not shocking. An Iraqi defector had come forward and presented his case about WMD. It was during the Clinton Administration. It turned out that defector's information was accurate. Despite intelligence that claimed Iraq had no WMD, it turned out that the intelligence was wrong. Iraq did have an active WMD program despite what the CIA was saying.
That defector was Saddam Hussein's son-in-law and it was the Clinton Administration's intelligence community that had the WMD prediction wrong. But I'm sure that was part of the conspiracy, right?
So, what is the big deal about wanting an Iraqi to talk publicly about Iraq's WMD program? It had been done before and used as pretext to invade Iraq's sovereignty before.
Assassinate Hussein? File under: mother of all not-shocking ideas.
What else is so 'shocking' in the papers?
Blair: "A second Security Council Resolution resolution would provide an insurance policy against the unexpected and international cover, including with the Arabs. "
That's not a revelation, that's just history. News flash: Bush and Blair wished U.N. would back invasion! Don't want Arabs pissed!
Bush: "The US would put its full weight behind efforts to get another resolution and would 'twist arms' and 'even threaten'. But he had to say that if ultimately we failed, military action would follow anyway.''
News Flash: U.S. believes it does not need U.N. backing to use military force to protect its perceived vital national security interests! How shocking is that. I seem to recall that John Kerry had the same position, before he didn't.
Blair responds that he is: "solidly with the President and ready to do whatever it took to disarm Saddam."
Er, and this is significant because??
Bush told Blair he: "thought it unlikely that there would be internecine warfare between the different religious and ethnic groups."
Okay, so Bush was wrong. Being wrong doesn't make one part of a conspiracy.
The conspiracy minded doesn't stop there. People like Corn were convinced there was a conpiracy long before the Downing Street Memo. The DSM was used as 'evidence' that their preconceived notions were correct. So this 'evidence' simply corraborates what they already believe. Just like moon landing nuts who believe that a photo which shows a shadow where they don't think it should be is 'proof' of the conspiracy, Corn and the far Left believe any statements from Bush or Blair that they were planning for war before they had publicly stated that they had made up their minds is 'proof' of a neo-Imperialist agenda.
But it gets worse. While rational people will see these statements as ambigious at worst and innocuous and obvious at best, people like Corn think the smoking gun has been found. They are so convinced that they know 'objective reality' as it really is, that any disregard for the memo is simply to deny the obvious. Hence, when the media doesn't pick up on the story Corn and the Left believe the media is part of the conspiracy too! Corn:
Will members of the press corps at 1600 Pennsylvania press the point? This revelation--which is more shocking than anything in the Downing Street Memos--should be major news here. But will it?
Zebra, meet stripes.
Hat tip: payer of bills.
dKos:
The new smoking gun reveals a flagrant violation of international law. Waging war under such circumstances constitutes a breach of the Nuremberg and Geneva codes and the UN Charter, which legitimize such action only in clear and present danger situations involving self-defense.
Bwahahaaa!!!
The Political Pit Bull has an excellent analysis of this shocking new memo, too.

..at which point Mr. Bush looked at Mr.Blair and said "I think it's time, don't you? Mr Blair agreed at which time a large antique chest was bought into room, the chest was covered with 'runes' or some artifacts of a dead language.
I helped remove the large ivory effigy of Imperial Emperor Karl Rove, and poured in an equal mix of Haliburton oil, and Arab baby blood from a vial, It was at this point I heard the voice of Ariel Sharon over the intercom it boomed and said "DRINK...YOUR MASTER COMMANDS IT!" it was at this point Mr.Bush, and Mr. Blair suckled the fingers extended from the effigy and began drinking"
The "Real" portions of the Left's "Downing Street Memo" remember it's fake but accurate!!

Bush told Blair he: "thought it unlikely that there would be internecine warfare between the different religious and ethnic groups."
Oh, for God's sake, does this even sound like the President, even a little bit?
I have to think that President Bush would say "civil war", rather than "internecine warfare", and, in fact, there has not been a "civil war".
I'd also like to know why the actual document hasn't been presented for inspection. Could it be that the Left learned a valuable lesson from the Dan Rather TANG memo fiasco?

The timing of this latest leftist assault on our leadership and the uprising of muslims in Europe is a little too coincidental to be accidental. I've known for a long time that the leftists were walking hand-in-hand with muslims, and this is just more proof.
The day is coming, so buy a gun and stock up on ammo while you can, because when the time is at hand, the government will ban all sales of arms and ammo.

Jihad Declared in Scandinavia
At what point did blasphemous art become a declaration of war? Via
Charles Johnson this
little nugget about a 'refugee' in Norway:
Yesterday (Thursday) Mullah Krekar, the alleged leader of the Islamist group Ansar al-Islam who has been living in Norway as a refugee since 1991, said that the publication of the Muhammad cartoons was a declaration of war. “The war has begun,” he told Norwegian journalists. Mr Krekar said Muslims in Norway are preparing to fight. It does not matter if the governments of Norway and Denmark apologize, the war is on.

So they give him refuge, and a taxpayer funded stipend, no doubt, and he shows his gratitude by declaring war. The irony is that if Norwegians start fighting back, the liberal government will come down on them. Just more proof that muslims and liberals are vermin and should exterminated.

If I'm not mistaken, Norway was reluctant to deport Mullah Krekar because he said he'd be tortured back in whatever flea pit he's from. Boy, was that a good choice.
Howie, you're so right. These guys only understand getting their butts handed to them. Remember when the IDF bounced a hellfire missile off of Sheik Yassin's head? Hamas responded by saying that the Iraelis "had opened the gates of hell." Very soon afterwards, the IDF bounced a hellfire missile off of Abdel Rantisi's head and the bravado stopped real quick.

Remember when, before 9/11, the Taliban in Afghanistan blew up the ancient enormous Buddhas? (They were apparently offended by them.) This was a watershed event and except for a National Geographic write-up I think it was largely ignored by the Western media. I think this cartoon fight is a similar watershed event.
The abused housewife doesn't give up her rights overnight; it is a gradual process. An erosion of dignity. A gradual acquiescence to what was previously unthinkable.
This is really important because we are losing our freedom of speech. And I read that US newspapers don't want to print the cartoons because they will offend. Since when did our news outlets ever care about offending??? I think they are afraid. THis is totalitarianism.

Patty, you are so right about the Buddhas, western media did what it always does, small brief report then on to "what bleeds- leads". As to the offending cartoons, they'll do anything they can to avoid offending the smallest percentage of minorities in this country BUT they think nothing about offending the majority of Americans, God fearing, hard working, love thy neighbor kinda people.
Mike and IM, Forget the boot to the neck, Carter shoulda "pushed the button" back in 79 when those rags took the Embassy and the hostages. Ever seen the movie "Speed", yeah shoot the hostages sounds kinda cold and uncaring, but I still think had he done it then and said "Who else wants some?" we wouldn't have the problems we have now.

I listened to two guys on the radio yesterday about this cartoon fiasco and a comedic performance made by one of the two. The other guy was demanding that the comedian apologize for making fun of the yearly hajj (that just recently passed) where the Muslims go en masse to a place where they throw rocks at stone pillars.
When the comedian admitted he probably was guilty of offending some people, the other guy said,
"I'm glad you apologize."
The comedian said he didn't apologize, and he wasn't sorry. He merely admitted to being offensive.
The other guy said,
"I'd like to challenge that."
I thought WTF? This guy is in total denial!

The ignorance of these sheep is amazing. Some nut-bag thinks he can make a bold statement by being controversial when all he is really looking for is fame and fortune. Then the other nut-bags in the art community will worship him for his 'gift' until some other nut-bag comes along. These people are as shallow as the lines on the EEG they received after their last heroine overdose.
It reminds me of the episode of the Simpsons when the art community worshipped Homer for about a day just because someone mistook the BBQ grill he wasn't able to put together for art.
And to think many of these people get a lot of funding to sit around and think of new ways to piss off the people who pay those tax dollars. Don't you dare protest that painting of Jesus made with feces or you'll be accused of censorship.
This is one messed-up country when the voice of the few is louder than the voice of the majority.
