City council candidate advocates assassinating Bush, sexually assaulting Bush daughters
With a headline like that the content is sure to be disappointing.
NCTimes:
Daniel Avila, 25, admitted Wednesday that he handed out fliers at the city's Oktoberfest celebration stating, "President George W. Bush Deserves to Be Assassinated." The handbill also called for a sex attack on the president's twin daughters....
Avila first got the attention of authorities when he showed up wielding a hatchet at a July 26 meeting of the Planning Commission. A sheriff's sergeant regularly attends the meeting...
He's running for City Council," Masry said. "We have a situation where these council meetings can proceed without any fear of somebody doing something irrational. Advocating killing Bush and raping his daughters is irrational."
Asked if he has ever committed a violent act, Avila said he has not.
"But if I did, I wouldn't be honest about it," he said.

I don't think I understand what you mean here, Jane. There was this guy on a radio show (seattle?) who criticized Dan Rather on his show and he got canned. He was interviewed sometime earlier today. (Sept 27th) and of course they said it wasn't because of that, it was because they weren't getting enough people to keep the radio show open and were going to close it anyway.
As to the second part of this post... from the beginning Kerry opened himself up once he started running on the platform that he was a vietnam veteran hero. Sure it's nice Captain Ed got printed and what he said was true.
So I'm not sure what you think is so cool.Hope it's part 2.

Compare the contemporary coverage of the Spanish Amerian war to how historians deal with it now, for an example (of course, liberals will say "Iraq is the Spanish American war!!!! Two new hostage video emerged over the weekend. One depicting two Americans and a British hostage being threatened with death unless "female prisoners in Iraq were released". I am afraid that these hostages have no hope--none. Another video shows the murder of three Iraqi kurds by the Army of al Sunna, a terrorist organization run by Abu Musab al Zarqawi with links to al Qaeda. The beheading video begins with a 'confession' by the three Kurds who were working for the Kurdistan Democratic Party, a long-time partner of the United States against the Hussein regime. The terrorists then cut off their heads with a knife. In Afghanistan, the remnant Taliban army has announced that it has beheaded three government soldiers. The Religion of Peace and compassion has struck again. You can download the Kurdish beheading video here or here, both require free registration but at least they are not Ogrish and are openly pro-American. I have posted several pictures from the video below, in the extended entry. Why do I do this? Because we need constant reminders of the evil forces we are fighting against. We are up against people who do this sort of thing because they believe it is the right thing to do. We are fighting an ideology, not simply a gang of criminals. Look at Weimar Germany. The Reichstag Fire was used as an excuse to demolish the constitution and democracy, thus leaving the field clear for the National-Socialist Party. Germans were saddled with a government they didn't vote for, neither could they get rid of it. In fact, anyone who objected was quickly dealt with. You either followed your orders or else.
I mean, no one could ever envisage the pinnacle of humanity, the USA, being subjected to such abuse by the executive. The President could be impeached for attacking the constitution, which on oath, in public, before the People, he swore to protect. Regardless of an act of terrorism, such as the Reichstag suffered, or say, the Twin Towers, I can't imagine the US executive being able to pass something as democratically backward as the senile- Hindenburg - git-Hitler Enabling Law. I have my doubts though about these Fatherland Security and Patriot Acts (very redolent of Orwellian langauage).
There were balloons going up over Washington DC, a wee while back, regarding a possible terrorist atrocity in the US itself (God forbid ! my tongue is out of my cheek here my friends) round about the time just before voting time. I don't think this went down well. People were voicing their concerns in public, about a possible military coup d'etat, and the scheme was quickly shelved. Sorry, did I just say that, I meant, these fears were quickly shelved, thus remaining in limbo.

Anyway, I'm a girl and I must be a wimp, too, because I absolutely hate the idea of camping. I am not a science fiction liker but I turned out as Galadriel - guess I'll have to go back and read about her. BUT if I was to pick one that I knew, I'd pick ET! Other than that, I hate this stuff, it's stupid and they always make our future look like holy hell and if that's what our future is, I don't want to be part of it. Like you, Brian, I'd say "shut up" too. I have to admit the picture of Galadriel is very much a woman and very sexy, so don't mind that, will have to read up on her (do I really have to?) but other than that, science fiction should be banned; it's just plain stupid stuff and I hate all futuristic type movies. I prefer action or realistic stuff and I'd definitely want to be a "Steel Magnolia" type for that's real whereas science fiction is FAKE, make-believe, unrealistic, stupid and a waste of time fantasy.

Thanks for the tip. Steve may have a point, but one reason the "snapshots" are so imprecise is that we have an intermittent avalanche going on. And the moving picture is also inaccurate because it's not capturing the magnitude of the shifts. What this tells us is that the whole mountainside is very unstable. Man, I'm mixing metaphors all over the place, huh?

American Hostages Named
Earlier I reported that two more American hostages have been taken in Iraq.
Reuters now names them as Jack Hensley and Eugene Armstrong. The third hostage's name will be released later, after the British authorities have contacted his family.
All three worked for Gulf Supplies and Commercial (GSCS) services, a Doha Qatar company. On 4/16/2003 GSCS was awarded a contract by the US Army Corps Of Engineers for "Life Support Services". On 3/14/04 GSCS was awarded a $47 million dollar contract with with the Coalition Provisional Authority for "Base Camp Life Support". GSCS also has several sub-contracts providing services in Iraq, including: building and servicing camps for coalition forces and civillian construction workers, installin LAN equipment and other telecommunicatins equipment, servicing Seabees engages in building orphanages and other infrastructure improvements, and other general contracting and servicing projects.

The video opens with shots of a truck convoy that has just been attacked. It then shows three Arab men 'confessing' to the 'crime' of driving trucks bringing supplies to the coalition forces. The tape then cuts to three people being shot in the back as they lie face down on the ground. According to Global Terror Report, the terrorists warn on the tape:
"anyone who co-operates with the crusader forces to repent [from supporting] the infidels and apostates... or the mujahideen will kill you."
Could these be the sources of the 3 decapated bodies that were
