John Kerry's Lice Infested Hippies on Parade

I just got through reading John Kerry's 1971 book The New Soldier. You can download the whole thing for free in PDF at Free Kerry Book. The thing that struck me most wasn't all of the upside down American flags. No, it was the hair. The hippies in the photos have the most disgusting, lice infested, matted, hemp-smelling gross hair I've ever seen. Check out all the photos of John Kerry in the book and one theme emerges: he's always at least a foot away from from a potential lice infestation. One photo shows a fellow 'new soldier' saying something in JFK's ear, but if you look closely you will notice that this isn't one of the unbathed tools--no, the one guy Kerry gets close to appears to be a fellow blue-blooded Yalie, recently washed.

Now excuse me while I go wash my hands. I sort of got the heebie-jeebies from looking at all that stuff. Hat tip: Charles Johnson

Kerry's Plan for Iraq: Tooth Ferry Diplomacy

John Kerry is dangerous. I'm not joking. John Kerry's official "Plan" to "Win the Peace in Iraq"

-Persuade NATO to make the security of Iraq one of its global missions and to deploy a portion of the force needed to secure and win the peace in Iraq.

-Convene a summit of the world's major powers as well as states in the region....

-Give other countries a stake in Iraq's future by encouraging them to help develop Iraq's oil resources.....

It goes on and on like this. He either tells us he will do the same thing Bush is doing, only somehow France will give a rat's ass because it's John Kerry doing the talking, or he tells us that he will do the same thing Bush is doing, only somehow the fit won't hit the shan because it's John Kerry doing it. I have criticised Bush for his venture away from realpolitik toward something that increasingly looks like utopianism. But Bush's fantasy about a democratic Muslim state aint got nothing on John Kerry's megalomania. His view of international relations would make my college freshman blush.

To recap Kerry's plan: a) call meetings b) do same thing as Bush only better cause I'm not Bush

Tooth Ferry Diplomacy indeed.

Christmas in Sweden

I went to Sweden once. Really. It was the middle of winter. We took the slow boat from Riga, Latvia, on Christmas day 1995. We then took a train from Stockholm up to some town in northern Sweden. Oh, the joy of spending Boxing Day at IKEA and eating $10 burgers in the land where the sun never rises!

So, on the way back to Stockholm, this time on a bus, we sit next to this lady. Young, maybe mid-thirties. She invited us to stay at her house rather than at the youth hostel we were booked in. Then she starts crying, literally, because the government was going to stop paying her workers compensation claim. What was her injury? I quote: "Working makes me nervous." We turned down her invite. That youth hostel was the best investment I ever made.

And in case you're wondering--four hours on the bus and every song was ABBA. Serious. It was on a loop. You ever hear ABBA in the original Swedish?

So to recap: Northern Sweden, in the dead of winter, on a student budget, ABBA in Swedish, and welfare moms.

Let's just say I didn't have the highest opinion of Sweden going into this post by Jeff (via Brian B.).

I might just add that Canada has a similar censorship law. It's the PC domino affect.

Journalist Beheaded in Bangledesh

To all my readers who keep saying that all religion is basically the same thing, I would just note that Dipankar Chakrabarty wasn't murdered because of his controversial stance on giving the Eucharist to divorcees. The story is here with more here (via Jane).

AP reports a positive ID on one of the victims. His name is Ajad Anwar Wali. He was an Iraqi expat who had lived in Italy for the last 20 years. His wife is an Italian citizen. Wali had applied for Italian citizenship and was kidnapped from his office in Baghdad last month. Yahoo News:

Islamic militants distributed a video to an international news agency showing the killings of two men who identified themselves as an Italian of Iraqi origin and a Turk. A militant who appeared in the video accused the two of spying.

They were shown blindfolded and kneeling in front of a ditch before being shot, a scene likely to raise fresh concern over the fate of foreign hostages in Iraq (news - web sites). They include British engineer Ken Bigley and two French journalists.

There was some positive news on the hostage front. An Iraqi militant group has released two Indonesian women hostages who were handed over on Monday to the United Arab Emirates embassy in Baghdad, Abu Dhabi Television reported.

More. Reuters:
Islamic militants on Monday distributed a video in Iraq showing the killings of two men who identified themselves as an Italian of Iraqi origin and a Turk.
The video, dated October 2, shows one of the militants reading a statement accusing the men of spying. The men are then shown blindfolded and kneeling in front of a ditch before being shot.

"This is the punishment for the enemies of God and his prophet and God is greatest," said the militant before the men were killed.

The Italian-Iraqi, who identified himself as Iyad Anwar Wali, said he met a man in Baghdad who introduced him to Iranian spies and then later met Turkish, American and Israeli agents.

Reformers on Trial in Saudi Arabia

In a MPJ exclusive, Dr. Rusty Shackleford discusses the trial of three Saudi dissidents arrested for calling for more openness in the Kingdom. Yesterday, a Saudi court ordered further proceedings against the activists closed to the public [story here]. Dr. Shackleford's reaction:

"I am shocked that the Saudi court would close further proceedings to the public. Saudi Arabia has a long-standing tradition of fair, free, and open trials. The Kingdom has long been known for it's progressive stance on a variety of issues. This move is a step back for the Saudi government. It's almost like they want to return to some Midievel society or something."

Bomb Threat: NY Bound Airplane Diverted

AP:

A Singapore Airlines passenger jet bound for New York was diverted to Manchester Airport in northern England on Monday after a bomb threat, police said. The Frankfurt to New York flight landed safely at 11 a.m. without a military escort, Greater Manchester Police said.

The pilot of Singapore Airlines flight SQ26 declared a "full emergency" mid-flight, a spokesman for Manchester Airport said. The Boeing 747-400 was carrying 293 passengers and 19 crew.

"Early indications are that it could be a hoax but we cannot confirm that one way or another until full checks are carried out," a spokeswoman for Greater Manchester Police said.

French Hostages Would be Free, if it weren't for those meddlesome GIs

Why are the French hostages, journalists Georges Malbrunot and Christian Chesnot, still being held by France's greatest ally--the terrorists? It's all America's fault, of course! Several reports emerged Friday from French Member of Parliament Didier Julia, and his envoy Philip Brett, that a deal had been reached to release the two French hostages. Saturday, when the hostages failed to be appear, Julia tried to blame the hostages' continuing ordeal on American troops. Arabic News:

the two French journalists held in Iraq were released but their procession was exposed to an American bombardment while they were on their way to Damascus and as a result of that six persons of the guarding team escorting them were killed.

In a press conference in Damascus, Julia explained that the two hostages George Malberno and Christian Shino are safe and it was not possible to transport them to Syria because of the intensive American bombardment and the security barriers on the road. Julia is making a private initiative to liberate the two hostages.

The only good news here is that the Chirac government is skeptical of Julia's reports and today blasted him for his private negotiations with the terrorists. You see, in France negotiating with terrorists best monopolized by the government.

The Army of Ansar al Sunnah has released the videotaped murder of another hostage. This time, it's an Iraqi who is the victim. His name is Barie Nafi'a Daoud Ibrahim (Barie Nafie Dawoud Ibrahim). Video available at NEIN, or by clicking here (Warning: Graphic images of subhuman vermin murdering helpless victim). A better resolution copy of the video can be found here (subscription). Images from the video are in extended entry.

The Army of Ansar al Sunnah murdered three Iraqis on September 16th (information, links to video, and images here). On August 31st, the same group executed 12 hostages from Nepal, one of them by beheading (information, links to video, and images here). On August 11th the group beheaded a man they claimed was a CIA agent (information and images here) and on August 25th the group beheaded a second alleged CIA agent (information and images here). May God speed the victims' souls to heaven, and may His wrath reign down upon the spineless terrorists in the form of a MOAB or other appropriately large ordinance.

Reuters:

An Iraqi Islamist group beheaded an Iraqi contractor it said was working for U.S. forces, a video on an Islamist Web site showed Saturday.

The footage from the group, Ansar al-Sunna, showed a militant beheading the man, identified as Iraqi national Barea Nafea Dawoud Ibrahim.

The group said in a statement accompanying the video that Ibrahim was an "apostate" (a person who abandons their faith). It was dated Oct. 2.

"I have set up three telecommunications networks for the Iraqi National Guard. I have been working in Taji since June 2004," a frightened-looking Ibrahim told the camera. He was wearing an access badge issued by the U.S. forces around his neck.

Two men later held him down and one proceeded to behead him, before placing his severed head on top of his body.

"We say to all those who even consider working with the crusader forces that they should repent," the group warned.

Militants have kidnapped dozens of Western, Arab and Iraqi hostages. Most have been freed, but many have been killed, often by beheading.

The same group beheaded last month three Iraqi Kurds who were members of the Kurdistan Democratic Party.

Dutch Intelligence Raids Bigley Brother's Home

Very strange, via M. H. King this story. If you read the story, though, the gist of it is that the terrorists are using Bigley's ordeal to manipulate British public opinion. Something I've been saying for awhile now (see here and here). Telegraph:

Dutch intelligence officers raided the home of Kenneth Bigley's brother last night. An intelligence officer from the Foreign Office is understood to have accompanied them to Paul Bigley's home in Amsterdam.

The raid came amid claims that the British hostage was free to roam his kidnappers' home in Iraq and was "caged" only for terrorist videos.
