French University Publishes Top al Qaeda Speeches

Presses Universitaires de France has published a new book which documents the speeches of top al Qaeda leaders, including Osama bin Laden and Aymal al Zawahiri. LeMonde runs a full page review of the book, but pans it because the prose of Zawahiri can't really be compared to the genius of the Ayatollah Khomenei or with the Muslim Brotherhood's Sayyid Qutb--those guys really knew how to put antisemetism and islamofascist utopianism into words!.

And besides, says the Le Monde reviewer, how come the authors of the book didn't challenge al Qaeda's assertion that jihad is somehow a call for violence when every one know that jihad is an internal struggle thing, right?

You gotta love the French.......

4 Unbelievable. Why do the French left get in bed with any 3rd world fascist and ultra-right wing war monger?

5 Is sacre bleu, or however the French write it, actually just "holy blue"? Oh, PUdF does have every right to publish that stuff, and besides, those Muslim extremists are funny with their crappy outdated guns and pompous threats to destroy everyone whose ancestors were forced to believe in the Jews god and the dead cult leader who claimed to be his son.

6 A 'right' to publish something? Who said they don't have a right to be assholes?

8 This is a good thing. People don't pay enough attention to what AQ are saying; they just treat them as militant radicals with a grievance. Or even worse, treat them as a product of the Israel/Arab issue. AQ speeches always speak of Andalusia, grand designs and such. The more that their plan for a worldwide caliphate is discussed, the better. The more we "understand" them, the more we can "condemn" their core beliefs as well as their actions.

9 "Sacrë bleu" (holy blue) is a euphemism for "sacrë dieu" (holy God), like saying "jeepers creepers" instead of "Jesus Christ".
