'CIA Agent' Taken Hostage in Malta (images/video)

malta_cia_agent_hostage2.jpg
For those of you paying really close attention you will know this is last week's news. But I didn't get the video until today, so I thought I'd pass it along to those that hadn't heard about it. A group calling itself the Badr Brigade released this video last week of a 'CIA agent' they had 'captured' in Malta. But this one was allegedly debunked by OSINT and SITE as really another case of a doll being taken hostage. Chad also reported the erroneous story here.

Here is the problem with the debunking: a) Polish Expert of OSINT told me in an e-mail that he hadn't seen the video. His report was just a link to an AKI story that made the claim it was a hoax. The AKI story seems to have just been a report on what SITE had written. Now, SITE has changed their entry deleting the part that this was a doll. b) the 'CIA agent' moves in the video!! Now, I understand special effects, but how can this be a doll? Watch the video yourself. I asked Vlad of Infovlad to find it for me and he did. He has the video here for your downloading pleasure. I have still images from the video below and right.

This might very well be a hoax, but it is definitely not a doll as earlier reports indicated.

What do we know about the Badr Brigades? Not much. There is a group in Iraq that calls itself the Badr brigades, but which is more of an armed militia front for the Shia Islamist party. The group has been blamed for the murder of several Sunni clerics. It is not likely that the group who claims they are holding the 'CIA agent' are related to the group in Iraq given the close alliance that has formed between the ruling Shias and the US.

The name of the group, though, suggests Shia militism with ties to Iran. If that is the case, then big worries are headed for Europe. The largest source of militancy Europe has had with its Muslim minorities has been with Salaafist Sunni groups with ties to the Muslim Brotherhood, Wahabbi mosques, or even al Qaeda.

Maltamedia:

militant Islamist Group has claimed that it has kidnapped an American CIA secret agent carrying a Maltese passport, adnki.com reports.

Maltese authorities and police immediately carried out investigations about the hostage named Hajya Khalil. The police confirmed that the name was not found registered on Maltese passport and identity card lists. Several international news agencies are reporting that the man is not a Maltese citizen, as it was being stated.

According to the group which calls itself Badr Brigades, the hostage is suspected to have passed secret information to ‘the enemy’ regarding Islamist militant movements in Iraq and Saudi Arabia.

Badr Brigades also stated that the man was arrested in a European country and will be killed without negotiations.

SITE:

The Badr Brigades claim to have kidnapped a Maltese citizen named Hajya Khalil whom they assert passed information to “the enemy” about the movements and whereabouts of mujahideen in Iraq and Saudi Arabia. The group says they “arrested” him in a unnamed European country. The group says he will be killed without any negotiations:

“As we were attacked, we will respond, in the same language of force: we stand and declare to all that we will not negotiate over this hostage in any way. His lot will be in the hands of our brother Mujahideen in the Country of the Two Rivers [Iraq] or in the Country of the Two Mosques [Saudi Arabia]. He will be transferred to them, together with his briefcase, whereupon he will be slaughtered, as sheep are slaughtered.”

The group posted a short video of the captive which shows him in front of the groupÂ’s banner on the floor holding what appear to be identity papers.

1 Pretty sure it is a chick holding the gun. Looks like they are in some office building or school. Gun looks bogus. Passport did not look like him either

2 Yeah, looks odd. But you'll agree that it's not a doll, right?

3 That picture on the passport is very unnatural, no doubt about it. Whomever is holding up the passport is definitely not a doll, but maybe a jihadi with make-up??? This is a hoax without a doll in the video, but maybe one on the passport picture.

4 Interesting that the "hostage" does not look up even once to show if he's the guy in the pic. In every other hostage video or pic (even the GI Joe doll) you could see their face. This is really screwy.

5 This is a prank. The gun isn't real - Any hostage would want serious face time on the camera, this guy doesn't look up. I bet the "Hostage" is a moonbat. Probably just went to that Abu Grabber play at Harvard.

6 Let's hope it is fake, and that it's just a paint gun being leveled at his head.

7 The gun profile looks to me like an AMT 22 or 30 carbine automag, and the "silencer" looks too small to be real, and it also looks crooked. It very well could be an Airsoft gun. My first impression is that this is another faked kidnapping just like the Sgrena hoax; an attempt to extort money. I hope they do get the CIA's full attention, in the form of a sweeper team, though I'm not sure the CIA has the capability anymore since Komrade Klinton gutted the agency and replaced all the operatives with analysts. Oh well, maybe they'll be able to get some really good satellite photos of something.

8 Oh one other thing, that's definitely a chick wearing men's clothing. It's probably some Eurotrash couple doing it for a prank. I hope they get a free vacation in Gitmo.

9 Yes, the surpressor does look crooked, it also looks disproportionate to the size of the weapon too (almost like the 'hollywood' version of a surpressor!)

10 College prank.

Posted by: Filthy Allah at June 06, 2005 03:01 PM (yBHNA)

11 Everything about that video looks wrong. I see that the kidnappers are like the MSM and don't know the difference between a CIA "agent" and a CIA "officer."

12 It is a US passport with MALTA glued to the inside cover. What a load of crap.

Posted by: ObSnooks at June 06, 2005 03:04 PM (yBHNA)

13 Ok, that's it! I'm sending those damn terrorists 6-8 megapixel canon powershot digital cameras. We need better photos. I won't send adobe photoshop though...imagine the hoaxes they would produce with that! That gun does look pathetic...let's hope he shoots it and it blows his hand off.

14 Osama: I'm sure they already have a pirated version of PhotoShop.

Posted by: Oyster at June 06, 2005 03:46 PM (fl6E1)

15 Well shit, it not exactly hard to find. Pirated CS2 is already all over the place...so much for Adobe's new registration process. Can you say, bypassed?

16 "He will be transferred to them, together with his briefcase, whereupon he will be slaughtered, as sheep are slaughtered.” How they gonna transfer the hostage ? The gonna buy a ticket to Iraq for him ? This doesn't smell right .

17 Polish Expert--> Agreed.

Posted by: Rusty Shackleford at June 06, 2005 09:15 PM (JQjhA)

18 The resolution is definitely an issue too. It seems rough for a reason.

Posted by: Improbulus Maximus at June 06, 2005 09:19 PM (0yYS2)

19 It's a VHS to mpeg is why.

Posted by: Rusty Shackleford at June 06, 2005 10:24 PM (JQjhA)

20 Osama - I didn't mean that to be a smart ass directed toward you. Just want to make that clear. ;-)

Posted by: Oyster at June 07, 2005 06:33 AM (YudAC)

21 No offence taken, but I'll tell you if they have photoshop, they don't know how to use it very well by the looks of it! It is absurd when you can do with technology these days. You can rearrange audio or video or pictures to do anything you want. Prime example: http://homepage.mac.com/duffyb/nobush/iMovieTheater188.html This is actually quite funny...

22 I want to thank you again for your kindness in your reply to me about that.
