Tragic that this had to happen, but one has to wonder, if this man was bipolar and was likely to become disruptive, shouldn't the woman travelling with him ensured that he was properly medicated throughout the flight? I doubt that the meds wore off as soon as the plane touched down.

Hey, I'm bipolar, and I've never been tempted to do something like that, or even close. In fact, bipolar disorder just means that you have more pronounced and often unprovoked mood swings than most people, but it sounds like this guy was just a total wackaloon. Probably another case of Mad Liberal Disease.

Dave's right. Greg gets a new identity to play with. However it depends on who this guy turns out to be. If he's from a poor oppressed minority, Greg'll use it. If he's a modern day Howard Hughes wearing a Larry the Cable Guy t-shirt, probably not.

He probably was crazy, but the Marshal didn't have the luxury of having the guy plop onto the psychiatrist's couch before deciding whether or not to cap him. Hell, in this day and age, if there hadn't been a marshal on board, his fellow passengers probably would have beaten him to death. And if I'd have been one of them, I'd probably have thrown the first punch. After 9/11, airline hijackings are a whole new ballgame. If you resist the terrorists, you're dead. If you comply with them, you're dead. And anyone who claims to be a terrorist IS, even if they aren't. That's the sad reality.

Well Carlos, that was the point of my question, but I just wanted to see if George was paying attention. The first thing that usually pops out of a liberal's mouth is "Tim McVeigh", or "Eric Rudolph", but I'm not sure if George is a liberal or what, so I have to check.

In all seriousness, my sympathies are with the marshall who did the deadly deed. He did the right thing, and he probably knows it too, but it will be hard nonetheless. Hopefully he will continue to be able to do the right thing again if, god forbid, circumstances ever warrantr it.

The man came into Miami on a
different flight, from Ecuador, not Colombia. The plane he
changed to in Miami came from Colombia.
He had already cleared customs in Miami, and boarded the plane bound for Orlando, his final destination. The plane had just about finished boarding and was preparing to leave the gate when he lost it.

They will all of course focus on this being a "mistake" - then blame Bush for not providing the Air Marshal's with Dr McCoy's and Mr Spock's Tricorders. If they had them they would have known immediately there was no bomb and the man was emotionally disturbed.
