Debra Lafave Gets Off
(Tampa, Florida) Debra Lafave pleaded guilty today to two counts of lewd and lascivious battery for having sex with a schoolboy. She originally planned to plead insanity but was encouraged to accept a plea deal with the stipulation that she would not go to jail. Lafave was facing a possible 15 years in prison on each charge if she went to trial. But there will be no trial and she gets no jail.
People should reject the delusion that Lafave's sentence is having the punishment fit the crime. She regularly had sex with a student with total diregard for the law and absolute refusal to exercise her responsibilities as a teacher. In my estimation, justice has not been served.

It seems I started hearing about these things a year or so ago. Now I see a case like this about once a month. IÂ’m not surprised about this plea bargain and the fact the this rapist gets off pretty much scott free. Even on this blog, most of the posters donÂ’t think itÂ’s really any big deal. This decision is just a reflection of society and how it views these incidents.
I can only think that somewhere in the future there will be a parent, not one of those white or black trash parents who donÂ’t give a shit. But a parent who did all the right things and raised a good kid harmed by one of these predators. The parent will be told it is not really a crime. One day a good parent will kill one of these criminals and he will be punished.
Our country is good in so many ways, but it is also Fu#@ed up in so many ways.

Our laws should be color blind and should also be gender blind. It is one thing for some of us to kid about "where were teachers like that when we were teens." It is a whole nother matter for the criminal justice system to let her off for a crime that if the genders were reversed we'd be saying "castrate the bastard." Don't know if rape is the right word for what she did but I have no doubt that her actions were wrong.

FYI August and September are the best months to visit.

Lafave's attorney, John Fitzgibbons - "To place an attractive young woman in that kind of hell hole [JAIL] is like placing a piece of raw meat in with the lions," he said in July. "I don't think Debbie could survive it."
Perhaps that might have discouraged others from doing the same.

If victims in the first category, shame on her, those kids will go gay because of the fuss about their field trip to where babies come from.

We would be going on an Alaskan cruise. My wife has to decide whether she wants to go on the cruise, or she has another option which is too drawn out to tell you and you wouldn't care anyway.
I'm pushing for the cruise, which probably means she will pick the other option, but if we take the cruise, it will be in August or September. I think we will have two days in Seattle, if I read the schedule correctly. I'll let you know for sure.

It's easy to dismiss these cases as being the answer to every teenage boy's dream. I'll admit that my jaw dropped (which through Newton's third law caused an opposite reaction in other parts) the first time I saw a photo of Miss Lafave. However, regardless of gender, it's still completely wrong for a teacher to be having sex with a student - and a student who's a minor at that. I'm still trying to figure out where all these cases are suddenly coming from. Is it a dominance thing? Is it that these women don't feel that they have control in their lives so they assert their dominance over someone else the only way they can?

Graeme, these cases aren't new. They're just being prosecuted now because a few parents are bringing it about. An old boyfriend, years ago, bragged to me how he slept with one of his teachers all through his senior year. My husband bragged about "tagging" one of his teachers too.
No. It's not right. But even so, neither the old boyfriend or my husband were psychologically marred by it either as they were both in high school and quite eager to "partake".

I think the fact that so many people are getting their drawers in a wad over this is just idiotic. I'm sorry to have to be the bellwether of reality, but the fact is that a teenage boy having sex with an adult woman is not the same as a teenage girl having sex with an adult man, no matter what anyone says. Males and females are different, and no amount of PC gender equivalency will change that. Sex for males is different than for females, with different goals and motivations, and especially with different psychological effects. I don't advocate such behavior, but if I found out that my son had sex with his teacher, I'd put a stop to it, but not get the vapors over it, whereas if I found out my daughter was having sex with a teacher, there'd be a dead teacher.
It's only because of liberalism that we've come to treat boys and girls the same, and with noticably disastrous results, as too many boys are failing to become men, but rather exist in a state of suspended adolescence wherein they are neither held accountable for their actions, nor expected to become productive members of society, i.e. good husbands and fathers. Likewise, too many girls are just becoming amoral whores who see nothing wrong with having sex with many anonymous partners, often at the same time, and while many of them get pregnant with frightening regularity, fewer of them are becoming good mothers.
The result is that more and more children of each new generation are fatherless bastards who have only negative role models who give only bad examples, and the fabric of society frays a little more with each generation. This is what gives us teachers who crave sex with immature children, because those teachers are themselves still children psychologically, because the current generation of adults is a product of the first divorce generation of the 1970's, and themselves have backgrounds of devoid of solid moral guidance. Liberalism is killing our society, just as Marx intended.

I'd agree that the psychology of sex differs in males and females but I don't think that the issue can be reduced to being: it's kind of okay for boys but very wrong for girls. For someone whose 25, I really have my doubts that a 14 year old makes a fantastic sexual partner. Therefore the motivation for having sex with the student has to be something darker. Not 'take over the world' darker but enough that it is the teacher using the student for his /her convenience (granted I can't say what the actual motivations by the teacher are). A 14 year old is not going to turn down advances by a hot looking 25 year old and the teacher knows this. That's what makes the whole thing wrong - an adult (regardless of gender) knowingly using a minor's lack of wisdom and self control against them. I don't think that she should spend the rest of her life in jail, or even 15 years for that matter. Three years may be appropriate, but those three years should be spent in jail, not under house arrest.

I have a 15-year old boy so I can say that I have observed some of the behavior we are discussing on this thread. We had meetings with the students-teachers about a month ago and I saw quite a lot of behavior that I considered inapropriate.
There was quite a lot of hugging, touching, feeling contact that I believe teachers should avoid at all costs. One reason is that it prevents a teacher from being objective about a student or group of students, and it also reinforces familiar behavior on the part of students.
My observation is that it is mainly a lack of maturity on the part of teachers, but also, I have to say, a lifestyle choice by the teachers themselves. Many of the younger teachers frequent nightclubs where music and dance mix with casual drug use. Many more of the teachers are younger, female, and drug users. Sex is bound to follow.

I'm stumped as to what could be done to prevent this kind of behaviour. Maybe it's as simple as only hiring really unattractive older teachers. In high school I was taught mainly by Catholic priests and the few female teachers that were present were......well let's just say that no amount of hormones flooding my brain could make them seem more attractive. Heck one of them didn't even shave her legs. Now that's incentive to keep your eyes on the black board.

You identified part of the problem. There are way too few male teachers at the public schools these days. We have 3000 students in our school system, and we have 4 schools where there is not a single male teacher or administrator. There is a male janitor who makes an appearance after school is out.
I'm not saying that having males at a school would change everything, but I do think there would be an improvement to a certain degree.

Sandra "Beth" Geisel Sexually Abused by Students Says Judge
(Albany, New York) Today, Albany County Judge Stephen Herrick formalized a six-month jail sentence as punishment for Sandra "Beth" Geisel (photo) after she pleaded guilty to one count of rape. And then, astonishingly, the judge made all her excuses for her by stating:
"At the time this occurred, you were needy, drinking heavily and had a low self esteem. While you looked at this as affection, you were being used, abused and sexually abused. You became their playmate."So, it appears that 42-year-old Geisel wasn't really responsible for her behavior. She had low self esteem and was victimized by the teen boys she met for sex. Holy-freaking-moly! The prosecution is outraged. The parents are outraged. And it's all because Judge Stephen Herrick is filled with boo-hoo logic which says a stupid woman can't be held responsible for her behavior.
Nevertheless, with credit for time served, Geisel skates out of jail next month with a hand slap and an apology. Poor thing. Note to all future defendants appearing before Judge "Bleeding Heart" Herrick: Wear a dress.

When I was in HS it was not unheard of for younnger hip yeachers to show at student "parties" upon occasion. wrong. So it looks like a by statute yep she's guilty but both were wrong and at a party so he's no angel either. I bit easy maybe. Got to figure she was not the only girl he was trying to poke. But not escuse she knew better but I won't shake if I see her coming down the street. So 1st offense clear record. Parents choice so and I'll so that's cool. I ight hve went 364 days + some watch time. The judge judged and at at least when I live it she screw up later I can voe to off him.

Reading the comments of your viewers indicates to me an astounding lack of knowledge.
As a polygraph examiner who specializes in sex offenders, I have examined thousands of pedophiles. Many of the offenders I have tested, when interviewed over their sexual histories, ultimately admit when they were 14 or 15 they had sex with an adult teacher or an adult girlfriend of their mother or another adult relative.
The ones who admit to this usually have a lifetime of dysfunctional activity thereafter.
Ms. Geisel crossed the line with four children and six months is an extremely light penalty for assaulting these boys.
A male teacher who did this with four female students (at least here in Texas) would be doing some very serious penitentiary time and most probably a life sentence.
These four boys did not "get lucky". They'll be all screwed up for years and probably end up in therapy as well.

John, you have pointed out an important issue, although you have it backwards. The way you state it, it would appear that the teenage sexual encounters are the cause of future sexual dysfunction. Now, did you consider that the kinds of boys that seek or are enthusiatic participants in this type of early sexual play may be already predisposed to all kinds of sexual involvement as they get older. What sort of sexual play were they into before the teacher came along? We all know that puberty brings on a lot of experimentation and these boys were 16 and 17 and not your innocent wall flower types either.
On thing I have always wondered though, is how does a women rape a man? If a man is not into it or frightened, wouldn't his willie refuse to cooperate?

I beg to differ with John, the pedophile examiner. I encountered the same experience with a lovely, and much older woman, when I was just 16 years old. I am today neither a dysfunctional child molester or any type of pedophile, nor do I require "therapy". Please don't generalize!
In fact, looking back, a few memories of those wild times spent with her are some of the most poignant and memorable which I can recall experiencing with anyone. My parents too, were quite upset upon finding out (principly my mother), and threatened to take care of the matter by turning her in. At his point, I let them know any such action would preclude my future relationship with them. They quickly decided to let it go. It ran it's course in about 3 years or so.
The woman is long out of my life, my relationship with my parents is wonderful, and once in awhile when it's brought up, I still defend her, and we all realize we made the right decision.
All in all, it was probably the best learning experience from my adolescence, and helped mold me into the sexually knowledgable and caring man that I became.
I also have three teenage sons, and if they happened to encounter the same occurrence, I indeed would consider them fortunate or "lucky".

So I took a survey among the my male cow-orkers. 9 out of 9 wondered where these women were when we were growing up.....
And how many of you of the male persuasion did NOT wonder the same thing. Not to excuse the behaviour. Just to illustrate the different perception between FEMALE molesters of underage boys, and MALE molesters of underage girls. We'd as fathers gladly castrate a male having sex with an underage daughter, on the otherhand wonder where these women were when we were underage males. A male fantasy for sure. Tammy Imre Gets Six Years for Sex with 8-Year-Old
(Bridgeport, Connecticut) In September, 30-year-old Tammy Imre (pic) pleaded guilty to a charge of risk of injury to a minor in accordance with an agreement which eliminated the need for the 8-year-old victim to have to testify in court.
Today, Imre was sentenced to six years in prison and ten years probation along with being required to register as a sex offender.

Imre admitted engaging in sexual acts with the boy but said it stopped short of sexual intercourse.Imre said she was truly sorry."When this was first in the paper, it was almost a joke, because of the role reversal," prosecutor Cornelius Kelly said. "It conjures up thoughts of, 'Oh, that's a young man's dream.' But as we stand here today, we still don't know what damage this will have on the young boy's self-esteem, his interpersonal relationships. We don't know what damage the young girl suffered."
Imre's daughter, who witnessed some of the acts, is now in foster care, authorities said.
"She has hurt a lot of innocent people, including her own daughter, who not only lost her mother, but her best friend, who was my son," the boy's mother told the judge.
Is six years enough? Turn it around to be a 30-year-old man mixing it up with an 8-year-old girl. Now, ask if six years is enough. In my opinion, six years is not even close to being enough. Frankly, though, given the customary leniency that courts show toward female pedophiles, I'm surprised she got that much.

I'm sick and tired of the judicial system allowing these creeps to plead out for any reason. Why don't they allow videotaped testimony for young children in sexual assault cases? That way the child wouldn't have the trauma of being in a court room facing his accuser. I'm sorry, but I think if one of my little ones were in that situation, I'd make them testify and just continue the therapy. All these kids are gonna grow up one day and look at their parents and say "I was already traumatized. Why didn't you make me testify so s/he could die in prison instead of getting off with a slap on the wrist?!" I'd be pissed wouldn't you?!

Eight is a bit young. Now 12 years old would have been a different matter. I wanted my english teacher, Mrs. Arce, something bad when I was 12 years old. That was a fine piece of horseflesh.
It's not as bad for boys to get molested by their (female) teacher as it is for girls to. It's every little boys dream actually. Cmon guys, admit it.

The prison time is definitely not enough. Taking advantage of an 8 year old is just sick. There can be no defense for it.
It seems as though since the LeTourneau case there has been an increase in number of these cases - at least one per year. I can't come up with an explanation for it. Is it that it was always fairly common? Also these cases tend to involve teachers who already have families.

8 years old or 12 years old, the level of mental maturity isn't much different. Just because a young boy has begun to have sexual thoughts or inclinations doesn't mean he's mentally prepared to act them out, or be acted upon by an adult, and come out of the ordeal with a stable psyche.

this is extremely disgusting and inappropriate, how can anyone have that kind of interest in having sex with someone's who's 8?..it's very disturbring that someone can be sexually interested in someone that young, and then to actually do things sexual is remarkably sickening and an adult doing something to someone's who's 12 is still sick and very immoral and that kind of behavior is awful and even if a preteen or younger teen would be interested in someone older, it's still not right and not ok and very immoral and a lot of people don't care about morality of one's actions and having sex around 12 is still quite young and some people attitude's towards young people having sex is very demeaning to our society and a lot of preteens/teens make bad moral decisions and have degrading behavior, and she should've had a minimum of 20 years for doing something that sick and courts are too lenient toward female pedophiles and toward most sexual criminals anyways and they should know that this kind of behavior should never occur and some people probably don't deserve 2nd chances if they do something so disgusting and the US gives too many 2nd chances to people who have sickening behavior, and she's going to be out in just 6 years and she may find that boy when he's 14 or other boys that age, or she's at least going to have a free life after only just 6 years when she shouldn't after doing something that despicable..how in the world can she have that interest and want to do such things with someone that young?..ugh!
