Don't Get Distracted
Saddam and his cronies, not to mention the laplickers of the media, are all doing their level best to distract the rest of us from the real meaning of this trial.
If you find yourself getting lost in Saddam's antics, or Ramsey Clark's bullshit, or the media fawning, come back to this post and click below the fold for a dose of reality.

No, let Saddam make his theatrics. We had to put up with William Kunstler showboating with his vicious clients for so many years, after all. It's good for the Iraqis to see that justice system in a democracy necessarily entails a heapin' helpin' of BS, so they may as well get used to it. It might help inoculate them against the appeal of the next strongman promising to make the way level and clear.
btw, did you know that the Iranian cargo jet crash the other day was America's fault? You'd know if you
listened to NPR.

Well of course it's America's fault; after all, we did invent the airplane. Damn us to hell!

Ramsey Clark should be stripped of his citizenship and sent to some remote, hostile corner of the planet (I'm thinking Somalia or Chad) to live out the last few miserable years of his God forsaken life. The man is a disgrace not only to America, but to the human race.

On Saving Saddam
Looking at pictures from
carnivale (a.k.a. The Saddam Show in Baghdad), I noticed a few things. First, the odd similarities between "President" Hussein and Don Flamenco from
Mike Tyson's Punch Out. Compare Don with
the picture in this post and judge for yourself:
See? Anyway, that was an unimportant point, as I have NES flashbacks constantly. Beyond that, I came to a startling conclusion. We MUST save Saddam Hussein. We cannot let him die. His DNA is too important to piss away, especially since his sons met a far nobler end (well, as noble as perishing in a shootout with a teenage boy in your company can be).
But why must Saddam live?

'Punch Out' rules. That was the good 'ole days when you could create a video game and give all of the boxers names or other things that poked fun of their nationality or appearance. I can't remember any of their names but there was the Indian (dots, not feathers) dude with the turban that I seem to remember was also a snake charmer. And the swarthy Italian guy. And the severely obese redneck that couldn't get back up when you knocked him down. And ...

I believe the dothead was Great Tiger. He thinks he's hot, but he's not!
I always liked Soda Popinski. Once I saw him, I knew the Soviets could never win the Cold War. I mean, come on, Super Macho Man (from Hollywood, with moving man-boobs) was ahead of Soda in the rankings. Ah, the subtle lessons Punch Out taught us.... capitalism will always triumph!

Agent Jones says "Saddam" would not sell well, as it is a musty fragrance.
