Bali Bombing Mastermind's Sentence Reduced from 4.5 Days in Jail Per Victim to 3.8 Days in Jail Per Victim

Our allies in the Global War on Terror have reduced the jail sentence of Abu Bakar Bashir (Ba'asyir), the mastermind of the Bali nightclub bombing, by 4.5 months. Bashir, it will be recalled, had been sentenced to 30 months in an Indonesian prison for his role as leader of the terrorist group that killed 202 civilians in the Bali nightclub bombing. 88 of the 202 victims were Australians.

Bashir will now spend 25.5 months in prison.

That's about 765 days.

That's 3.8 days per victim.

Indonesia routinely sentences drug dealers to death by firing squad.

Another admitted terrorist involved in the mass murder at Bali was once spotted at the local Starbucks. They hate terrorism so much that Indonesian narcotics and drugs Brigadier-General Gorries Mere decided it would be a good idea to spring the terrorist from his jail cell and stroll down to the neighborhood cofee shop. Don't worry, though, after the terrorist in question had his fill of Double Latte Mochachino, he was promptly returned to prison. The Aussies, for their part, are 'sorry' to hear that Bashir will be sprung in 10 months. SMH Australia:

Prime Minister John Howard says he is sorry Australia cannot do anything about the early release of convicted Bali bombing ringleader Abu Bakar Bashir.

Indonesian authorities have decided to cut Bashir's sentence by four and a half months as part of celebrations to mark 60 years of the country's independence, despite protests from Australia.....

Bashir is serving a two and a half year jail sentence for his role in instigating the October 2002 bombings in which the 202 people were killed including 88 Australians.

Seventeen other men convicted over the bombings, and who were originally jailed for up to 16 years, reportedly received three month reductions.

Hat tip: Evariste at Discarded Lies who calculates the prison-sentence per victim for the 17 who received up to 16 years each.

1 Ah, but that's slightly better than the 1.17 days per victim for Mounir al-Motassadek, who was convicted in Germany for being involved in the Hamburg cell of AQ. This was the outcome in his retrial. He was originally found guilty of being an accessory to the murder of 3,000 Americans in the 9/11 attacks.

3 contrast that to the sentence of 20 years given to the aussie babe for smuggling pot into indonesia... http://www.cbc.ca/story/world/national/2005/05/27/marijuana-aus050527.html i guess its just ok to blow up infidels.
